      Mercedes boss Toto Wolff slams claims Lewis Hamilton is in decline after nightmare start to F1 season

      MERCEDES Formula One chief Toto Wolff has slammed claims suggesting seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is in decline.Hamilton narrowly missed out on a record breaking eighth world title last season to Dutchman Max Verstappen on the final lap.

      And his fortunes haven’t changed this season either, only making the podium with a third placed finish in Bahrain.
      The Brit has also spent this season in the shadow of Merc team-mate George Russell, who has been incredibly consistent on the track.
      Despite Hamilton’s woes, Wolff has slammed claims that Hamilton is in decline and has put the 37-year-old’s performances down to the car.

      Wolff continued: “How they appear to me, both of them, it’s very professional.
      “They have been given a car that is a bit sub-par, each of them tries to develop the car further, they have both gone [in] a different set-up direction.
      “Lewis [in Azerbaijan Grand Prix qualifying] was again very experimental but can be available in the long term.
      “I think as long as the car is not good enough to really be racing at the front, the differences are small and I don’t think you can have a pattern saying: ‘George is continuously outperforming Lewis,’ or the other way around.

      There hasn’t been a Canadian Grand Prix in the last two years because of Covid but the last GP in Canada in 2019 defiantly has a lot of Controversies.
      Sebastian Vettel crossed the line first but after a five-second penalty was given to him, Lewis Hamilton was given victory after finishing three seconds behind Vettel.
      Lewis Hamilton will be racing this weekend despite having issues with his back after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

      The Canadian Grand Prix takes place from Friday, June 17 to Sunday, June 19.
      Practice one and practice two take place on Friday at 6:30 pm and 9:45 pm UK time respectively.
      Practice three takes place on Saturday at 5:45 pm before qualifying at 8:00 pm.

      FORMULA ONE will be racing the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne until 2035, it has been announced. Albert Park has become one of F1’s most beloved venues since its switch from Adelaide in 1996.

      However, there were fears it could lose its place on the F1 calendar following amid uncertainty over Covid.
      But this year’s race managed to go ahead and now F1 have announced that a new ten-year agreement has been reached.
      By the time the deal comes to a close, F1 would have been racing in Melbourne nearly 40 years.
      The surface was relaid and tweaks were made to sector two ahead of the 2022 race.

      Before she became a presenter, Naomi earned her motorsport chops competing in the sport.
      The Rwandan-Belgian began racing at just 16 with the Southern African Formula Volkswagen.

      That enabled her to race in the GT4 European Series in 2015, as well as 2018’s gruelling 24 Hours of Nurburgring, which is recognised along with Le Mans as one of the toughest in the world.
      As of 2019, Naomi’s been part of the W Series, who she is also diversity and inclusion ambassador for, and was a reserve last season.
      Foray into presenting
      Back in February, F1 fans might have caught a glimpse of Naomi introducing the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team car launch alongside F1 pit reporter Natalie Pinkham.
      Then in March, she appeared as a co-host of new Sky Sports F1 show Any Driven Monday, which can be streamed on YouTube.
      However, one troll questioned whether she was the right person to give her opinion.
      The troll wrote: “Meet Naomi Schiff, Sky Sports latest Formula 1 commentator. Can you guess what her main qualification for the job is? Hint: It isn’t Formula 1 experience.”
      In response Schiff posted three yawning emojis to highlight her boredom at receiving such abuse.
      Fighting her corner
      Lewis Hamilton was the first to defend Naomi’s corner.
      The seven-time champion took to Twitter and voiced his displeasure at the tweet.

      The new regulations for the 2022 season have been difficult for many teams to get to grips with.
      And Mercedes, who finished third and fourth last weekend, recently made noises to the FIA – F1’s governing body – about a potential rule change which would allow them to adjust the ride height of the cars.
      But Brundle feels it is something the reigning constructors champions need to sort on their own.
      Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “The teams that have got it sorted are clearly saying that’s Mercedes’ problem and it’s not Formula 1’s problem.

      Seven-time champ Hamilton looked on course for victory as he led Verstappen by over ten seconds.
      But Williams’ Nicholas Latifi crashed into the barriers which resulted in a safety car being deployed on lap 54, letting Verstappen hone in on his rival.
      And with fresher tyres having pitted, Verstappen passed his rival on the final lap after stewards decided to allow lapped cars to overtake.
      FIA director Michael Masi had initially indicated lapped cars between Hamilton and Verstappen would stay in their formation, only to change his mind, resulting in the former to claim that the race ‘has been manipulated’.
      But despite the controversial ending, Palmer put the blame on Bottas, who was racing for Mercedes for the last time before he joins Alfa Romeo.
      He stated that Bottas, who finished in sixth place in Abu Dhabi, didn’t help out Hamilton like Verstappen’s wingman Sergio Perez did.
      Perez played a vital role in holding up Hamilton earlier in the race prior to the safety car.

      Ferrari find ‘short-term fix’ to Carlos Sainz car problems that forced F1 star out of Azerbaijan ahead of Canadian GP

      FERRARI insist they’ve found a “short-term fix” for Carlos Sainz’s car problems after a disastrous showing at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.The Italian team suffered a double blow as both Sainz and teammate Charles Leclerc were forced to retire in Baku.
