      Hamilton, 37, had frost coming off his eyebrows as he danced in the ludicrously low temperatures.
      The seven-time world champion has used cryotherapy many times before.
      It is a treatment that utilises the extreme cold to get rid of abnormal tissue.
      Cryotherapy is believed to have plenty of health benefits – including helping with nerve irritation and reducing the risk of migraines.

      Hamilton will typically stand in the cryotherapy chamber for two to four minutes, with plenty of athletes opting to use the treatment for several days in a row.
      Donning Calvin Klein underwear, a mask, headwear, socks and shoes, Hamilton dealt with the hideously low temperatures like a seasoned pro.
      Posting a clip to Instagram, he wrote: “Best way to beat the heatwave. -110°C never felt so good 🧊🧊🧊”
      Hamilton will hope to get back to winning ways this weekend in France.

      He currently resides in sixth in the Driver Standings – 99 points behind leader Max Verstappen.
      The Mercedes star has been given reasons for optimism of late, collecting three consecutive podiums.

      Former F1 driver Anthony Davidson believes that Mercedes should have the pace to challenge Ferrari and Red Bull this weekend, telling Sky Sports: “I think if there’s any circuit you could choose from this season, it would have been Silverstone and Paul Ricard, where Mercedes would have a chance to mix it with the top two teams – Red Bull and Ferrari – on genuine pace.”
      He went on to add: “Paul Ricard is a nice smooth circuit which should suit the car, high grip situation as well, high degradation on the tyres, all of these elements coming together for Mercedes should mean that the car should be in its happy place.”

      Lewis Hamilton snubs Max Verstappen as he picks his toughest rival in F1 with seven-time world champion set for 300th GP

      LEWIS HAMILTON will notch up his 300th F1 GP this weekend in France – and says his toughest opponent was his first – Fernando Alonso.The pair were team-mates at McLaren in 2007 but that year ended in a bitter bust-up, with the Spaniard leaving after only one season.

      Alonso, 40, is one of five others who have hit the 300 landmark along with Kimi Raikkonen, Rubens Barrichello, Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button.
      Hamilton, 37, will become the sixth and says while Alonso remains his most formidable opponent, his first GP in Melbourne in 2007 when he was 22, is his most memorable.
      He said: “The whole realisation of reaching your dream is a very, very surreal experience. It is always going to be your first, there’s only one first.
      “Just getting to that first Grand Prix in 2007, the amount of sleepless nights as a family all of us had had not knowing if we would reach our dream, but never giving up nonetheless and being there, that will probably be the real highlight.”

      Hamilton has since gone on to win a record-equalling seven world championships, and it could have been eight had he not been pipped in controversial circumstances by his latest bitter rival Max Verstappen.
      But when asked by SunSport who his most fierce opponent was, Hamilton was in no doubt.

      He added: “I remember the task of being alongside Fernando. I was so young mentally.
      “It is a lot of pressure to go up against a great like him, on pure pace and ability I would say it is Fernando.

      His condition has remained a closely guarded secret since the horror incident, with his wife Corinna preferring to treat her husband privately at their home in Geneva, Switzerland.
      But a few of his racing pals – such as FIA President Jean Todt -have remained in his tight circle.
      The Frenchman, 74, gave a rare update on Schumacher’s health while letting fans know his love for Formula One hasn’t faltered.
      Todt revealed he regularly visits the 53-year-old, who has not been seen in public since his accident, to watch races together.

      The ex-Ferrari chief previously told how he “hopes the world” will be able to see his dear friend again, revealing Schumacher has “never changed”.

      Todt formed a formidable friendship with racing ace Schumacher as his boss during his glittering career with Ferrari.
      They proved to be quite the extraordinary pairing, with the dad winning five consecutive World Drivers’ Championships, from 2000 to 2004, under Todt’s leadership.

      And their relationship has overcome the many hurdles in Schumacher’s life in wake of his near-fatal accident.
      Todt joined the 53-year-old’s wife Corinna and daughter Gina to collect the State Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia in Cologne on Michael’s behalf on Wednesday.
      It is the highest civilian honour available to those born within the region and can be awarded to anyone who has made an outstanding contribution to the world.
      It comes after Schumacher’s former manager Willi Weber accused the star’s family of lying about his condition.
      The 80-year-old said he is still “angry” that the brood hasn’t updated him on the F1 icon’s health since his skiing accident nine years ago.

      But Sir Lewis will be forced to sit out the first practice session at the French GP due to a little-known rule, it has been revealed.
      For the 2022 season, all ten teams are required to run a “young driver” in two FP1 sessions.
      A driver who meets the rookie criteria is 2019 F2 and 2020-21 Formula E champion Nyck de Vries, and he will replace Hamilton in Friday’s FP1.
      Mercedes statement read: “Nyck de Vries will be driving in place of Lewis Hamilton in FP1.
      “Over the course of the season, each driver is required to give up one of their first practice sessions for a young driver.

      Expect complaints about bad backs and blurry vision from the drivers while the subtext behind the latest missive from the sport’s governing body, the FIA, is even more uncomfortable.
      First, a bit of a recap.
      This year’s cars have been designed to use “ground-effects” – using a car’s floor to create downforce – rather than complicated and expensive front and rear wings.

      Lewis Hamilton’s team have certainly been the more vocal, and George Russell, a director of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association, has also complained.
      The upshot is that last week, the FIA confirmed they would be taking measures as it considered the porpoising “a significant safety matter”.
      Note the term because it means they can make changes to the rule book without getting the approval from the teams to do so.
      As a result, this has gone down like a lead balloon in Maranello and Milton Keynes where Ferrari and Red Bull’s design teams have been left feeling devastated.

      It is understandable, for they’d managed to crack the equation and create quick cars that conform to the rules, and do not have bouncing.
      So what are the FIA changing? Well, from the Belgium GP this year, they have stipulated stiffer planks under the cars to stop the underneath flexing.
      And from next year, rule tweaks include raising the floor edges and changing the diffuser, plus the introduction of sensors to help police just how much bouncing is legal.
      Although technical, it has – and will continue to cause a stink with some insiders suggesting that Mercedes have over-blown the safety aspect.
      They point out that if they were suffering that badly, they could simply increase the ride height to stop the bouncing and striking the floor – however, that would be at the detriment of lap times.
      On top of this, if it is such a safety issue, why were there no such problems in Canada, Silverstone and Austria? There is also a distinct feeling that the FIA’s intervention goes against the spirit of the regulations and that a governing body has no place telling teams how to set up their race cars.
      It is like Manchester United failing to sign a new goalkeeper – and then Uefa stepping in to change the rules to permit smaller goalposts.
      No wonder some teams all think it is all rather murky, especially as the waters are already muddy.
      The FIA have recently appointed Shaila-Ann Rao in a senior role, and she was recently a special advisor to Mercedes’ team principal, Toto Wolff.
      While there is no evidence or inference of any foul play, with soaring temperatures set for the week, tempers could boil over.
      Raz back on track
      Toprak Razgatlioglu completed a hat-trick at Donington last weekend, winning all three races and taking a perfect score of 62 points.
      The Turkish racer is looking to defend his WSBK title that he won last year and looks back to his best.
      The Yamaha rider, 25, has taken 13 podiums in this year’s 15 races and has been hotly tipped with a switch to MotoGP for next season.

      OMG Moment
      Interesting to see Rich Energy resurface over the weekend – terminating a partnership with British Superbike team OMG Racing.
      You may remember the drink’s brand sponsorship of the Haas F1 team with SunSport exclusively revealing they were pulling the plug due to poor performance.
      William Storey claimed the team were a “milk float at the back of the grid”, much to the surprise of Haas.
      Now they have terminated a deal with the motorbike team – via Twitter.
      A statement from the Rich Energy account said: “PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: Rich Energy would like to thank @OMGRacingUK for their work in the last two years but the whole agreement is now at an end.
      “Rich Energy is expanding its portfolio in many spheres including sport.”
      Strangely, or maybe not considering Rich Energy’s previous form, OMG appear not to have known it was coming and still contain the team’s name on their website and social media.
      The timing of the announcement is also perplexing. Both Kyle Ryde and Bradley Ray have won races in 2022 for OMG, with Ray leading the championship after four rounds, and ahead of a home race at Brands Hatch this weekend. Peculiar.
      PIF find vroom
      Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), led by the crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, have become the second-largest shareholder in Aston Martin.
      The PIF, who also own Newcastle United and already have investments in McLaren, will buy shares worth £78m and take part in a £575m rights issue.
      Lawrence Stroll will retain a controlling stake in the team as he juggles the team’s F1 operation and luxury sports car business.
      Stroll has overseen the building of a new factory at Silverstone while on track performances have seen the team slump towards the back of the grid.

      Carlos Sainz Sr, 60, races for Acciona | Sainz XE Team in the Extreme E off-road series and was competing in the final of the Island X-Prix in Sardinia, Italy when the smash occurred.
      Sainz was in the lead when he was hit by Rosberg X Racing’s Johan Kristoffersson, causing his car to flip, and was left momentarily trapped before he was finally able to exit it by himself.
      He was taken to hospital with the FIA vowing to launch an investigation.
      Sainz Jr will now turn his attention to the French GP weekend, between July 22 and 24.
      And despite a number of issues for both himself and team-mate Charles Leclerc, the Spaniard is thrilled Ferrari are prioritising speed over reliability.
      Sainz told Formula1.com: “As a team, we are still motivated and united.
      “We are going through a bump in the road, which I think after the step we’ve made on the engine this year I’d rather take that step and get through that bump than have an under-powered engine that is more reliable.
      “I think as a team, we’ve done a great job with the engine this year.
      “We are going through some problems that will be solved, I’m sure.”
      But Sainz admitted he was disappointed to miss out on a potential Ferrari one-two in Austria last time out.
      He revealed: “It’s difficult to find the right words as it was clear the one-two in Austria was quite easy.
      “I had strong pace, especially on the hard tyres. The degradation was very high but we managed it well.

      F1 set to go to war over ‘porpoising’ in boost to Lewis Hamilton but Ferrari and Red Bull left devastated

      THIS week’s French Grand Prix is about to get incredibly political in a row over rules.Just when we thought F1’s dreaded porpoising phenomenon was behind us, the bouncing cars are expected to make an unwelcome return, and they are at the centre of it.

      Expect complaints about bad backs and blurry vision from the drivers while the subtext behind the latest missive from the sport’s governing body, the FIA, is even more uncomfortable.
      First, a bit of a recap.
      This year’s cars have been designed to use “ground-effects” – using a car’s floor to create downforce – rather than complicated and expensive front and rear wings.

      Lewis Hamilton’s team have certainly been the more vocal, and George Russell, a director of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association, has also complained.
      The upshot is that last week, the FIA confirmed they would be taking measures as it considered the porpoising “a significant safety matter”.
      Note the term because it means they can make changes to the rule book without getting the approval from the teams to do so.
      As a result, this has gone down like a lead balloon in Maranello and Milton Keynes where Ferrari and Red Bull’s design teams have been left feeling devastated.

      It is understandable, for they’d managed to crack the equation and create quick cars that conform to the rules, and do not have bouncing.
      So what are the FIA changing? Well, from the Belgium GP this year, they have stipulated stiffer planks under the cars to stop the underneath flexing.
      And from next year, rule tweaks include raising the floor edges and changing the diffuser, plus the introduction of sensors to help police just how much bouncing is legal.
      Although technical, it has – and will continue to cause a stink with some insiders suggesting that Mercedes have over-blown the safety aspect.
      They point out that if they were suffering that badly, they could simply increase the ride height to stop the bouncing and striking the floor – however, that would be at the detriment of lap times.
      On top of this, if it is such a safety issue, why were there no such problems in Canada, Silverstone and Austria? There is also a distinct feeling that the FIA’s intervention goes against the spirit of the regulations and that a governing body has no place telling teams how to set up their race cars.
      It is like Manchester United failing to sign a new goalkeeper – and then Uefa stepping in to change the rules to permit smaller goalposts.
      No wonder some teams all think it is all rather murky, especially as the waters are already muddy.
      The FIA have recently appointed Shaila-Ann Rao in a senior role, and she was recently a special advisor to Mercedes’ team principal, Toto Wolff.
      While there is no evidence or inference of any foul play, with soaring temperatures set for the week, tempers could boil over.
      Raz back on track
      Toprak Razgatlioglu completed a hat-trick at Donington last weekend, winning all three races and taking a perfect score of 62 points.
      The Turkish racer is looking to defend his WSBK title that he won last year and looks back to his best.
      The Yamaha rider, 25, has taken 13 podiums in this year’s 15 races and has been hotly tipped with a switch to MotoGP for next season.

      OMG Moment
      Interesting to see Rich Energy resurface over the weekend – terminating a partnership with British Superbike team OMG Racing.
      You may remember the drink’s brand sponsorship of the Haas F1 team with SunSport exclusively revealing they were pulling the plug due to poor performance.
      William Storey claimed the team were a “milk float at the back of the grid”, much to the surprise of Haas.
      Now they have terminated a deal with the motorbike team – via Twitter.
      A statement from the Rich Energy account said: “PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: Rich Energy would like to thank @OMGRacingUK for their work in the last two years but the whole agreement is now at an end.
      “Rich Energy is expanding its portfolio in many spheres including sport.”
      Strangely, or maybe not considering Rich Energy’s previous form, OMG appear not to have known it was coming and still contain the team’s name on their website and social media.
      The timing of the announcement is also perplexing. Both Kyle Ryde and Bradley Ray have won races in 2022 for OMG, with Ray leading the championship after four rounds, and ahead of a home race at Brands Hatch this weekend. Peculiar.
      PIF find vroom
      Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), led by the crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, have become the second-largest shareholder in Aston Martin.
      The PIF, who also own Newcastle United and already have investments in McLaren, will buy shares worth £78m and take part in a £575m rights issue.
      Lawrence Stroll will retain a controlling stake in the team as he juggles the team’s F1 operation and luxury sports car business.
      Stroll has overseen the building of a new factory at Silverstone while on track performances have seen the team slump towards the back of the grid.
