Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr bizarre rules: Is a knockout allowed, how many rounds will they fight and how many minutes?

MIKE TYSON and Roy Jones Jr face off in an intriguing exhibition fight this weekend.
But what are the rules for the boxing spectacle? Is a knockout allowed and how many minutes will the rounds be?

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr do battle this weekend
What are the rules for Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr?

With a combined age of 105, Tyson and Jones Jr do battle in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
They will fight over eight, two minute rounds, and will be wearing larger 12oz gloves.
The fighters will not be wearing headgear.
Men’s boxing bouts usually run over three minute rounds and both stars have expressed their dismay at the shorter rounds.

Jones Jr said: ” I’m not happy at all.

“Like [Tyson] said, that’s for women. I kept fighting until the last minute, saying, ‘Why we fighting two-minute rounds?’ I don’t understand that. We’re not women. We’re two of the best to ever do it.
“Why we got to do two-minute rounds? Why? If something’s going to happen, it’s going to happen anyway … two minutes, three minutes, five minutes. Don’t really matter.
“So, for us, what difference does it make? Two minutes doesn’t do anything for him or for me. To be honest with you, it cheats the fans out of it.”

In addition, the California State Commission have said that if either boxer is cut or injured the fight will be stopped, though if remains to be seen if referee Ray Corona will choose to halt it.
The WBC have created the WBC Frontline title belt for the winner, and have former WBC champs Christy Martin, Vinny Pazienza and Chad Dawson scoring the fight remotely should it go all eight rounds.
    Is a knockout allowed?
Technically yes, although the legends have been urged NOT to go for a K.O.
The California State Commission have deemed it a bout for the greats to “exhibit” their boxing skills.
UFC boss Dana White was flabbergasted after hearing the rule, saying: “There’s no knockouts? They’re not allowed to knock each other out? How do you enforce that?
Both fighters have said they are gunning for a K.O on Saturday night.

    What have they said?
Andy Foster, California State Commission executive director: “It’s an exhibition.
“They can exhibit their boxing skills, but I don’t want them using their best efforts to hurt each other.
“They’re going to spar hard, but they shouldn’t be going for a knockout. This isn’t a record-book type of fight. This is not world-championship boxing right now. It’s not what this is. People shouldn’t be getting knocked out.
“The public can see what kind of shape Roy and Mike are still in.

Mike Tyson’s incredible bodyweight workout routine
“I’m sure there are going to be times where it heats up. Ray’s [Corona, referee] job is going to be to put the ice back on without having to kill the whole thing. He’s that kind of referee. I feel that he’s going to be good at that, and he’s the right guy for this kind of a fight.”
Jones Jr: “First of all, if you think you are going into the ring with Mike Tyson, the last guy [Corey Sanders] that did an ‘exhibition’ with Mike [in 2006] got dropped in the first round.
“If you don’t know that, then something is wrong with you. Who goes into the ring with the great, legendary Mike Tyson and thinks, ‘Oh, this is going to be an exhibition?’ 12-ounce gloves? No headgear? Really? This is an exhibition? Come on, man. Be for real’.”

Who is Mike Tyson’s trainer Rafael Cordeiro? MMA star training boxing legend for Roy Jones Jr comeback

IRON MIKE is back after a 15-year absence.
All eyes will be on the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday night as Mike Tyson enters the ring for the first time since 2005.

The former heavyweight champion of the world will go up against Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout, with Rafael Cordeiro in his corner.
    Who is Rafael Cordeiro?
Tyson has got himself into phenomenal shape for his big comeback – and Cordeiro has played a huge part in the champ’s stunning body transformation.
A former MMA star and a fearsome competitor, Cordeiro is a three-time Brazilian Muay Thai world champion.
The Brazilian-born hardman stepped out of the ring in his late 20s with a professional MMA record of four wins and two defeats.

Cordeiro then moved to the USA in 2008 and heads up the famous Kings MMA gym in California, which he founded a decade ago.

The gym has churned out a number of MMA superstars, including Wanderlei Silva, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum and lightweight scrapper Rafael dos Anjos.
In 2016, Cordeiro was named Coach of the Year and Kings was awarded Gym of the Year in a clean-sweep at the MMA Awards.
Tyson and Cordeiro linked up earlier this year and the martial arts expert has whipped the 53-year-old former champ into remarkable shape.

And Cordeiro, 47, has been stunned by the power of the Baddest Man on the Planet who hasn’t been in the ring since retiring against Kevin McBride 15 years ago.
He said: “As soon as we started training I said ‘My Lord’. I didn’t know what to expect from a guy who hasn’t hit mitts for – I think – almost ten years.
“So I didn’t expect to see what I saw – I saw a guy with the same speed, the same power as a guy who is 21, 22-years-old.

Mike Tyson’s incredible bodyweight workout routine
“And I can tell; you would have to be a good guy to spar with Mike, because if you don’t prepare, he is going to drop you for sure – 100%.
    “The power is different level.
“I have trained a lot of heavyweights in my career, with not a lot of respect for everybody, but he is almost as powerful as Wanderlei Silva is right now.
“When you talk about power, I held his right hook and thought ‘he is going to kill somebody’.”

When is Tyson vs Jones Jr?
The big fight is now set for Thanksgiving Weekend – Saturday, November 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The legends are set to eight rounds in the ring, with Youtube star Jake Paul and NBA star Nate Robinson confirmed for the undercard.
BT Sport Box Office will be broadcasting the fight in the UK and will cost cost £19.95 to watch. More

Who is Mo Farah’s wife Tania and how many children do pair have?

OLYMPIC hero Mo Farah is part of this year’s I’m A Celeb line-up – and is proving a popular member of the castle.
Farah said goodbye to the track in 2017 after four Olympic gold medals and six world championship wins, with wife Tania by his side.

Who is Mo Farah’s wife Tania?

Tania met the future Olympian when they were students at a west London university.
She keeps a low profile, but told The Telegraph she misses Mo when he’s training away from home.
She said: “It’s hard but it’s something that we’ve had to cope with since we first got together really.
“Mo was going away a lot from day one, so I had to get used to that pretty quickly.”

    When did they get married?
The couple married in 2010, celebrating with a lavish wedding in Richmond.
Paula Radcliffe, Steve Cram and Jo Pavey were just some of the big names in attendance.
Due to Farah’s training, they used to live in their adopted home of Portland, Oregon.
Tania opened a “royal-theme”‘ luxury spa in Portland, named the British Manor Spa in May 2017.

But they have since moved back to London – and Mo will go into this year’s I’m A Celeb following a period of isolation.

An insider told The Sun: “Mo’s been a big fan of the show for years and was just waiting for the right time in his career to do it.
“He obviously has an excellent level of fitness and mental focus so will be great at the Bushtucker Trials and will be a positive addition for keeping up team morale for campmates – especially as a lot of the celebs are worried how cold it will be.
“It’s his first foray into reality TV so he’s a bit nervous about the challenges and will miss his family.”

Speaking at the time of the twins’ birth, Tania said: “It’s like a fairy tale. We couldn’t ask for anything more.”

Who is Roy Jones Jr’s wife Natlyn Jones and does the boxing star have kids with her?

The former world heavyweight champion had been called upon by Tyson’s team in the summer to take part in an exhibition bout.

And despite hanging the gloves up not too long ago, Jones Jr wants in on that ring feeling once again.
And wife Natlyn and his three kids will be there every step of the way to watch along.
Who is Natlyn Jones and how old is she?
Natlyn was born on June 3, 1975 in Pensacola, Florida, where Jones Jr grew up too.
Natlyn attended Florida State University and had aspirations of becoming a lawyer before falling head over heels for Jones Jr.

The pair met in the early 2000s, before they began dating and got married. The exact timeline of events isn’t known.
It’s thought the pair had a private ceremony, likely in Florida, where they tied the knot.
Natlyn gave up her dream of becoming a lawyer, however, to be by Jones Jr’s side throughout his career and to raise their kids.

How many kids do they have together?
Natlyn and Jones Jr have three sons together, Roy III, DeShaun and DeAndre.

She gave up her potential career as lawyer in order to help raise her three children with Jones Jr.
In 2019, Natlyn launched her own boxing gym, She Warrior, in 2019, with the aim to empower women’s sport.
Jones Jr’s wife also tried to get into boxing promoting at one point, but never pursued it seriously.

What Natlyn has said about Jones Jr
“Their daddy’s got a big heart,” Natlyn told Bleacher Report about their kids five years ago.
“On the way up? After he won the heavyweight title? I’d guess 95 percent of people reaching out wanted something from him.
“Now things have slowed down a little, but I’d still say 70 percent.
“Everyone thinks how much easier life must get when your boat comes in, but there’s a lot of other stuff you have to be ready for too. Not all of it’s that easy to deal with.
“But I guess going into marrying a professional athlete, you have to know what you’re marrying into. Not that I did.
“I just couldn’t believe how nice he was, and, you know, you fall in love.” More

How many fans will YOUR club be allowed? Chelsea, Arsenal ‘to play with 2000 crowd – but Man Utd behind closed doors’

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs will be playing in front of fans as soon as NEXT WEEK under proposals unveiled by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The government has announced that once lockdown comes to an end on December 2, supporters will be allowed to return to stadiums at capacities of up to 4000.

Some Premier League grounds will soon look like this friendly between Brighton and ChelseaCredit: PA

However, this will depend on which tier of Covid restrictions their local area is allocated.
How will the new system work?
Tier 1 areas will be allowed 4000 fans.
Tier 2 areas will be allowed 2000 fans.
Tier 3 will continue behind closed doors.

Based on the pre-lockdown Tier system, only two clubs would be allowed to play in front of four thousand fans.
    They are Brighton and Southampton.
However, the new tiers will be announced on Thursday.

With Brighton’s infection rate over the past week at 102 per 100,000, the city is likely to remain in Tier 1.
However this may not be the case for Southampton, which now has a rate of 168 per 100,000.

Which clubs will be in Tier 2?

London is expected to remain in Tier 2 when lockdown ends.

That would mean Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham all being allowed to host supporters but at a capacity of just two thousand.
Leicester, which lived under the most severe restrictions in the country in summer, was also designated Tier 2 before lockdown meaning it should be able to host two thousand fans.
Newcastle was seen as being at risk of moving to Tier 3 before lockdown but strong resistance from local leaders meant no decision had been made at the time.
Which clubs will be in Tier 3?

Liverpool, Everton, Man City, Man Utd, Burnley, Leeds and Sheffield United were all in Tier 3 areas before lockdown and will be banned from hosting fans if their tier remains unchanged.
However, Liverpool’s infection rate in the past week has dropped to just 187 per 100,000, giving hope that the city could be placed in Tier 2, allowing Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti’s teams to play in front of two thousand supporters.
Birmingham and the West Midlands were in Tier 2 before lockdown however the council was in discussions about a move to Tier 3, which had been described as “inevitable”.
Should these areas be placed in Tier 3, Aston Villa, Wolves and West Brom will all have to continue playing behind closed doors.

Boris Johnson says Brits who test negative in mass trials could get ‘freedom pass’ to ignore Tiers
Can I attend if I live in a higher tier than my team?
Under previous rules, people in Tier 1 and Tier 2 were allowed to move freely between their respective areas.
However, people in Tier 3 were banned from leaving their areas – though the ban was not legally enforceable.
Should these rules remain unchanged, those in Tier 3 will be banned from watching any elite sport.
However fans in Tier 2 would be allowed to watch teams in Tier 1.
Will I have to wear a mask to attend?
Rules on masks in stadiums and entry times have yet to be announced.
However masks have been made obligatory at all times in other stadiums in Europe where football has restarted with fans. More

Mike Tyson’s face tattoo and other inks meanings from communist leaders to former tennis champ and ex-wife he cheated on

OVER the years, Mike Tyson has enjoyed getting inked up.
Memorably, his most famous tattoo is his tribal design etched on the left side of his head.

Mike Tyson has six tattoos, including his infamous face inkCredit: Getty Images – Getty

However, that could’ve been something completely different had the slugger had his way – read below.
In total, ‘Iron Mike’ has six tattoos – but what are they and what do they all mean?
Let SunSport walk you through Tyson’s body art.
What does Mike Tyson’s tribal face tattoo mean?
In 2003, Mike, 53, went under the needle of renowned tattoo artist Victor Whitmill.

Originally, he wanted his face to be covered in heart tattoos – so he would be recognised as ‘The Man of hearts.’
However, Whitmill strongly advised against that idea and instead gave him the tribal design.
In the 2008 documentary ‘Tyson’ the former heavyweight champ says it represents his ‘warrior status.’ You wouldn’t argue with him.
In popular culture, it featured in The Hangover film – which Tyson starred in – on the face of dentist, Stu Price.

Why did he get a Chairman Mao tattoo?
On Tyson’s right bicep, is a tattoo of Chinese communist revolutionary, Mao Zedong.
When he was in prison serving time for rape, the fearsome puncher was said to have read up on Zedong’s politics and identified with them.
He wanted to feel less shallow, and is also said to keep a collection of ‘Chairman Mao’s’ writings.
Tyson got the tattoo in tribute to his new inspiration.

    What about Che Guevara?
Tyson went one further than any East End hipster who may wear the image of the Argentine Marxist revolutionary on a T-shirt.
He got a tattoo of Che Guevara on his ribcage – complete with his famous beret.
Tyson was once asked why he decided on having Guevara tattoed on his body.
He said: “Che Guevara is an incredible individual. He had so much, but sacrificed it all for the benefit of other people.”

    The ex-wife
When you love someone so much, it’s only natural that you want to show the world.
Tyson did just that with his ex-wife Monica Turner by getting her face tattooed on the left side of his forearm.
They married in 1997, but were divorced in 2002 after Turner claimed adultery during their five-year marriage.

    Dragon
On his right forearm, Tyson boasts a rather fetching dragon tattoo.
He hasn’t ever commented on it, but in Chinese culture the dragon represents strength, wisdom and freedom.
It’s the most popular creature that’s requested at tattoo studios, but we wouldn’t knock Mike for authenticity.

    Arthur Ashe
    What on earth?
Now, Tyson didn’t strike us as a tennis fan. But he does have the three-time Grand Slam winner Arthur Ashe on his right shoulder.
Scribbled above the image are the words, ‘DAYS OF GRACE’.

Outside of sport, Ashe was well known for supporting social causes and set up the Arthur Ashe Foundation for the Defeat of Aids.
Tyson, himself, has become an activist for a holistic lifestyle through his cannabis empire.
