When is the Champions League final, and where’s it being held?

The Champions League final will take place on Saturday, May 29.
The Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey – famously the location of Liverpool’s 3-3 comeback win over AC Milan in 2005 – will host the showpiece this season.
The kick-off time has yet to be decided, though it is expected to begin at 8pm BST.

Are Chelsea and Man City fans allowed to attend the Champions League final?

With the UK’s ban on non-essential international travel set to expire on May 17, Chelsea and Man City fans should be allowed to travel to Turkey for the match.
The Turkish government has allocated 4000 tickets each to Chelsea and Man City supporters.
However, coronavirus cases in Turkey remain high, with the country having gone into a full lockdown until May 17.
Because of this, Turkey is likely to be on the UK’s amber list when travel resumes.
This would see fans from the UK forced to quarantine for ten days on their return and take a pre-departure Covid test plus PCR tests on Day 2 and Day 8 after landing.
Despite this, UK fans would have no problems entering Turkey, with the Turkish government set to allow British travellers to enter without proof of vaccination or negative test from May 15.
There has not yet been any suggestion from the UK or Turkey that fans could avoid quarantine through a bubble arrangement.

The Ataturk Stadium plays host this year
    Can I get tickets?
UEFA have revealed in their latest update that details are to follow soon on how you can get tickets to the big one.
UEFA said: “The UEFA Champions League Final 2021 will take place in Istanbul, Turkey in the Ataturk Olympic Stadium on Saturday, 29 May 2021.
“Information about the ticket sales for this match (availability of tickets, application deadline, ticket prices, etc.) should be communicated around end of April 2021.
“More details will follow in due course.”

Why are Real Madrid wearing black socks against Chelsea?

CHELSEA welcome Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge tonight with a place in the Champions League final up for grabs.Thomas Tuchel’s side scrapped their way to a 1-1 draw in Spain, setting up a huge second leg in West London.

The winners will go on to play Manchester City in the final on May 29, but you may have noticed something different about Real Madrid’s kit tonight.
Why are Real Madrid wearing black socks?
Real Madrid are renowned for their iconic all-white shirt, which they’ve worn every year since formation in 1902.
The club’s nickname Los Blancos – the Whites – refers to this identity and they traditionally wear white tops, shorts and socks.
Tonight at the Bridge Madrid have been permitted to wear their home kit, but will be wearing black socks to avoid a clash with Chelsea.
The Blues’ home kit sees them wear blue shirts, blue shorts and white socks.
Both sides are unable to wear white socks under Uefa rules, hence the change.
You may think this isn’t the norm for Madrid and you’d be right to an extent.
But infact Los Blancos wore black socks for most of their early history, only making the change to an all-white strip in 1955.

Do away goals count in Champions League semi-finals? Full Uefa 2020/21 rules

THE Champions League semi-final between Chelsea and Real Madrid is tonight as the sides battle it out for a chance to play Man City in Istanbul. But how do away goals work in the competition?
    Credit: AFP or licensors
Do away goals count in extra time of Champions League and Europa League matches?
AS ever, away goals count if the game finishes a draw on aggregate after 90 minutes.
Uefa were considering changing the rule but for now it will remain the same.
So extra time can only happen if the same reverse scoreline appears in both games and the two teams have the same amount of away goals.
Here’s the Uefa guidelines on what happens next: “For matches played under the knockout system, if the two teams involved in a tie score the same number of goals over the two legs, the team which scores more away goals qualifies for the next stage.

“If this procedure does not produce a result, i.e. if both teams score the same number of goals at home and away, two 15-minute periods of extra time are played at the end of the second leg.
“If both teams score the same number of goals during extra time, away goals count double (i.e. the visiting team qualifies).
“If no goals are scored during extra time, kicks from the penalty mark determine which team qualifies for the next stage.”
So if we reach extra time and EITHER team scores within the added 30 minutes, there is NO chance of the game going to penalties.
If the away team manages to score in extra time, away goals kick in and the home side must net twice to progress.
Do away goals count for Champions League and Europa League ties at neutral venues?
Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal have all, at some stage, played the away legs of their European ties at neutral venues.
However, away goals WILL apply to all two-legged ties in Uefa competitions this season.
After Chelsea netted against Real Madrid in Spain, a 0-0 draw or victory will be enough to see them through to the final. More
