SLOVENIAN referee Slavko Vincic has emerged from a very turbulent year to be appointed to Euro 2020.The continent’s biggest football competition seemed a world away a year ago, when he was arrested in Bosnia and accused of being part of a drugs and prostitution ring.

However, he was later released without charge and is now free to focus on football, where he is recognised as one of Europe’s best referees.
    Who is Slavko Vincic?
A native of Maribor, Vincic turned professional in 2007 making his debut in Slovenia’s top flight.
Vincic was included in the Slovenian officiating team at Euro 2012 as an unused additional assistant.
The experienced 41-year-old has been a Fifa accredited referee since 2010 and has regularly officiated in the Champions League and Europa League.
Vincic took charge of Liverpool’s Champions League last 16 first leg tie against RB Leipzig in February and the first leg of Chelsea’s quarter final against Porto.
He is part of Uefa’s group of elite referees having officiated across Europe’s top competitions.

    What happened in Bosnia?
Slavko Vincic said of his arrest: “I found myself on this ranch by chance. I have my own company, I was in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a business meeting.
“I accepted an invitation to lunch, which turned out to be my biggest mistake. I regret it.
“I was sitting at a table with my company, all of a sudden the police came and what happened, happened.
“I have nothing to do with the group that was arrested and detained, nor do my business partners.
“Yes, they really took us to the police, asked as witnesses, when it turned out that we didn’t even know them, we were able to go.”
Vincic was defended by the Slovenian FA who viewed the incident as their man being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
What games is he taking charge of at Euro 2020?
Vincic took charge of numerous group games including Spain vs Sweden.
He will also take charge of Belgium’s quarter-final against Italy this evening. More

England Euro 2020 semi-final tickets: Can I still buy them and how many fans will be at Wembley?

ENGLAND are one game away from playing in the Euro 2020 semi-finals at Wembley next week but they must first beat Ukraine. The Three Lions overcame Germany 2-0 earlier this week to seal a quarter-final clash with Andriy Shevchenko’s side in Rome on Saturday.

How many fans will be allowed at Wembley for the semi-final?
England had been playing matches in front of 22,500 fans in the group stage – a 25 per cent capacity.
However, that was upped to 45,000 fans – 50 per cent – in the last 16 for England’s win over Germany.
And the UK government has confirmed to Uefa that the semi-final and final will be played in front of at least 60,000 fans – a 75 per cent capacity.

How can I get tickets for Euro 2020 semi-finals?

UEFA, however, are still offering hospitality packages for both semi-finals and the final.
Package prices been at 5,200 euros, getting up to as high as 7,300 euros per person.

Who will England play in Euro 2020 semi-final if they beat Ukraine?

ENGLAND have BEATEN Germany in their Euro 2020 last 16 clash. And they now have a fantastic chance of going all the way, with the draw really opening up.
Raheem Sterling gave England a precious lead at home to GermanyCredit: Reuters
Here’s all you need to know about the Three Lions’ potential path to the final.
Who are England playing in the Euro 2020 quarter-final?
England play Ukraine in the Euro 2020 quarter-final in Rome.
Ukraine beat Sweden in extra-time on Tuesday evening in Glasgow to book their clash with the Three Lions.
The Three Lions will fancy their chances against Andriy Shevchenko’s side, who finished third in Group C behind Netherlands and Austria, who are both out of the competition.
However, in an unprecedented situation at a major tournament, England will have NO fans supporting them if they get to Rome after the Italian government introduced quarantine measures.
Ukraine will also have no fans travelling from their home country.

Who could England play in the semi-final?
If England reach the semi-final, they could face a reunion with the Czech Republic, who stunned Holland 2-0 in Budapest.
England secured top spot in Group D with Raheem Sterling scoring the only goal against the Czechs in their final group game at Wembley.
Alternatively, England could take on Denmark in an emotional semi-final.
The Danes, who are looking to shock the world and win the tournament for Christian Eriksen, crushed Wales 4-0 in Amsterdam and now face the Czechs in Baku.

Who could England play in the final?
England will not play another of the tournament favourites until the final.
And there, one of the big-hitters is likely to be waiting.
Belgium take on Italy in the first quarter-final after the Belgians ended Portugal’s reign as European champions while the Italians beat Austria in extra time.
The other quarter-final will see Switzerland – who knocked out world champs France – take on Spain.
Where will England play for the rest of the tournament?
A trip to Rome if they beat Germany will be England’s only game abroad.
Both the semi-finals and final of Euro 2020 will be held at Wembley. More

What is the Albanian Eagle celebration and which players have used it previously?

THE ALBANIAN EAGLE celebration has previously caused outrage when performed by current Switzerland squad members Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri. But what does the gesture mean, as the Swiss prepare to take on Spain this afternoon in their Euro 2020 quarter-final clash.
Granit Xhaka scored the opening goal for SwitzerlandCredit: EPA
    What is the Albanian Eagle?
Both Xhaka and Shaqiri celebrated their goals for Switzerland in their 2-1 win over Serbia by making the nationalist symbol of their ethnic Albanian heritage.
The players put their open hands together to look like a double-headed eagle – like the one displayed on the Albanian flag.
Shaqiri also wore boots bearing the flags of both Switzerland and Kosovo and was jeered by Serbian fans throughout the game.
And German-Albanian defender Shkodran Mustafi repeated the celebration in solidarity with the players during Arsenal’s win at Cardiff.
Switzerland stars Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri do Albanian Eagle celebrations towards Serbia fans
    Why is it controversial?
FIFA are coming under pressure from Serbia to charge the goalscorers for their celebrations – with them demanding a two-match ban which is laid down by FIFA regulations.
Shaqiri was born in Kosovo (a former Serbian province which declared independence in 2008).
Serbia do not recognise  Kosovo’s independence and relations remain tense with many families choosing to move to other European counties including Switzerland.
Xherdan Shaqiri scored in the 90th minute to give them three pointsCredit: EPA
What did Xherdan Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka say about the gesture?
Speaking to reporters after the game, Shaqiri said: “You can see what I did and I think it’s just emotion. I’m very happy to score this goal. It was nothing more than that. I think we don’t have to speak about this now.”
Xhaka, said: “Frankly, my opponents did not interest me at all.
“It was for my people, who always supported me. For those who did not neglect me, in my homeland, where my parents’ roots are. These were purely pure emotions.”
Were Xhaka and Shaqiri punished for the celebration?
Xhaka and Shaqiri were fined £7,630 each for the Albanian Eagle celebration, which was dubbed “unsportsmanlike conduct” by Fifa.
But they escaped a ban for “provocative gestures”, which was called for by the Serbian FA.
Captain Stefan Lichtsteiner was also fined £3,824 for making the gesture after Shaqiri’s winner.
Will Shkodran Mustafi be fined for the gesture?
Shkodran Mustafi has escaped FA action and will not be fined.
The likely reason for this is that while Xhaka and Shaqiri’s gesture in the World Cup was seen by Fifa as a provocation towards Serbian fans, Arsenal’s game at Cardiff had no political connotations. More
