JAKE PAUL saw off ex-UFC champ Tyron Woodley in their epic bout – but not without a huge scare. The Problem Child went the full distance for the first time in his boxing career, winning on a split decision.
That was despite a worrying fourth round, which saw Woodley rock Paul with a stunning right hand.
Elsewhere on the card, Paul’s adversary Tommy Fury kicked off the show with a dominant win over Anthony Taylor.

    MORE FROM FURY
Tommy Fury had more words about Jake Paul following their confrontation.
Fury said: “Jake saw me ringside, I was leaning over the ropes waiting to get in. Logan said not now. They ain’t fighters.
“I was ready to throw hands there and then. This guy [Jake] doesn’t understand – me and my team will go now, we’ll get stuck in so he can count his blessings.
“Forty of his security team broke it up because the man can’t fight. Imagine him on the street… please. He wouldn’t last two seconds.
“If he had no security team there with him, he would have walked straight past me.
“There was a moment in that corridor where everything was going off between the security, my team, his team and it was just me and him.
“I looked dead into his soul. When the cameras are not around, he doesn’t want to know.
“Let’s be honest, if he really wanted to fight me, I’d have been in that ring there at the end through the ropes, let’s go, there’s no return.
“But he didn’t want that and the reason why he didn’t want me in the ring is because if I was getting in there, he wouldn’t be able to go back on it.”
    PAUL-ING HIS LEG
Jake Paul discussed his backstage confrontation with Tommy Fury after his victory over Tyron Woodley.
Paul said:”Look, the guy really had nothing to say, he had a mediocre performance against my sparring partner.
“All credit to Anthony Taylor he’s a tough guy but Tommy Fury is supposed to be this tough, big bad guy, legendary bloodline.
“I got into his face and let him talk. I don’t have anything to say to him – at the end of the day I hired him to be here, I gave him an opportunity to shine. I don’t have any bad blood I just said, ‘Yo tell your girl to get out of my DMs.’
“At the end of the day, will we see that fight? I would run that s*** easy – that’s an easier fight than Tyron in my opinion. People say he’s a real boxer – OK, maybe, let’s run it real boxer”
    WORK FOUR IT
Jake Paul was rocked and hurt for the first time in his boxing career during his controversial split-decision win over Tyron Woodley.
But after three routine knockout wins, this was his toughest test so far, and so it proved in the fourth round.
Woodley had started very passively but exploded in round four as he finally went on the offensive.
The former UFC star crashed a huge right hook on to the head of Paul.
The YouTuber was stunned and fell back into the ropes, struggling to keep himself up.
It was then when Woodley decided to wave his arm around to get the crowd going – rather than going in for the killer blow.
That allowed the social media personality to catch his breath and recover to see out the remaining 40 seconds of the round
Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley – Round by Round
    PAUL RESPONDS
Jake Paul confirmed he would be open to sharing the ring with UFC legend Conor McGregor after beating former MMA star Tyron Woodley.
Paul said: “I’m salivating too because I’m just getting warmed up. Conor McGregor has a lot more to focus on besides me right now.
“I’m five wins in a row, he’s one in three in the past four years so he needs to get off his vodka or whatever his brand is, sober up and get back in the gym then we can f*****g fight.
“There’s no way he hits harder than Woodley, he doesn’t weigh as much as Woodley, he’s shorter than Woodley.
“I said it before the fight, I think Woodley is a harder fight than him, especially on the weight he is going – Conor is going down, I’m going up”
    JAKE DROOL
UFC legend Conor McGregor is ‘salivating’ at the prospect of fighting Jake Paul.
McGregor took to Twitter with a simple one-word message after Paul’s split-decision win over Tyron Woodley.
    The Notorious wrote: “Salivating.”
And it suggests the the Irish superstar is excited by taking on the YouTuber – because he is confident of destroying the entertainer in the ring

    MORE FROM BISPING
UFC legend Michael Bisping described Jake Paul as “very beatable” after his win over Tyron Woodley and doesn’t expect him to ever accept a fight against him or Tommy Fury.
Bisping said: “He’s very beatable. You mentioned there Tommy Fury, I don’t even think they’d take that fight.
“They want someone that’s big, that’s a marquee kind of pay-per-view draw but somebody that’s at the end of their career that isn’t really going to pose too much of a threat.
“And for that reason, you know damn well they ain’t going to call me”
    CASHING IN
UFC legend Michael Bisping suggested he’s open to fighting Jake Paul after the YouTuber’s win over Tyron Woodley.
Bisping even reckons it would be “the easiest sparring session” of his life.
The former MMA star said: “I’ll be honest I want to jump in there with him after seeing that tonight.
“Look at all the hype, people are going crazy for him, you’ve got to admit it was a pretty enjoyable event and quite the spectacle if I’m honest.
“So yeah, listen I was watching, my God this is easy work. You want to throw some cash at me Jake, I’ll do it.
“I’m only joking – but I’m a little bit serious because I’m like man this is the easiest sparring session of my life.
“But Jake’s got a ton of options, tons of options. A lot of people would fight him, because he’s very beatable”
    HEATED CONFRONTATION
A clip of Tommy Fury and Jake Paul’s backstage confrontation has emerged.
Fury told Paul that he “needs to stop running” and “take the fight” against him.
Things got heated and the YouTuber was heard telling the boxer that he’s barely good enough to be his sparring partner.
    More below:

    NEXT
Jake Paul seems to be looking forward to his next challenge after beating Tyron Woodley.
Well, we all know Tommy Fury challenged him to a fight so that could be Paul’s answer.
Fury also confirmed there was a rather intense confrontation backstage.

    FURY-0US CHALLENGE
Tommy Fury challenged Jake Paul to a fight after beating Anthony Taylor on the same night.
Here is what Tommy Fury had to say about Paul before their confrontation backstage.
    More below:

    PAUL REACTS
“I’ve been boxing for 18 months now. I haven’t been to the dentist, I barely got my hair cut in the last two years.
“My teeth are crooked, my nose is crooked.I’ve dedicated the last 18 months to this.
“I haven’t stopped, I think I might need to chill out for a second and figure out who I am. I’m only 24, I’m changing, I’m growing, I’m learning a lot.
“I’m going through ups and downs and I’m making mistakes. I’m going through ups and downs. But I’m keeping my head straight and we’ll see”
    WOOD YOU BELIEVE IT?
Jake Paul argued Jake Paul is an ‘easier’ opponent than former UFC champion Tyron Woodley.
Paul beat Woodley over eight rounds by split-decision and Fury called out the YouTuber afterwards.
He it appears the brother of Tyson is not on the social media sensation’s immediate plans.

    FUR SURE
Michael Bisping does not believe Jake Paul will be looking to fight Tommy Fury any time soon.
Bisping said: “He’s very beatable. You mentioned there Tommy Fury, I don’t even think they’d take that fight.
They want someone that’s big, that’s a marquee kind of pay-per-view draw but somebody that’s at the end of their career that isn’t really going to pose too much of a threat.
“And for that reason, you know damn well they ain’t going to call me.”
    MIKE DROP
UFC legend and former middleweight champion Michael Bisping opened the door to fighting Jake Paul.
He said: “I’ll be honest I want to jump in there with him after seeing that tonight.
A lot of people would fight him, because he’s very beatable.”
    FUR REAL?
Here is footage of Tommy Fury’s altercation with Jake Paul’s team.
Fury called to fight Jake and even the YouTuber’s brother Logan was heard in the spat.
Security guards were able to break up the coming together.

    DILL OR NO DILL?
Conor McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis was quick to take a shot at Jake Paul.
The pair have feuded online for years but Danis rejected a grudge match earlier in the year due to an injury.
But he has since called to fight Paul and shared a pictured of the YouTuber being held up by the ropes.

    SHIELD OF HONOUR
Women’s boxing star Claressa Shields was vocal in her opinion of Tyron Woodley winning the fight.
Shields said: “I thought Tyron Woodley won.
“It wasn’t no competition, what the hell did Jake Paul do? Did he hurt Woodley? He ran around the ring, he backed up the whole time.
“He didn’t win the fight. It wasn’t no close fight to me, I thought Tyron Woodley clearly won.”
    MORE ACTION
Here is some more action of Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley going at it.
A left hook bounced off Paul’s head but Woodley failed to capitalise and allowed his opponent to survive.

    THIGH TATT
Tyron Woodley doesn’t plan on getting the ‘I love Jake Paul tattoo’ anywhere visible to the public.

    KEESY DOES IT
Here is the fourth round where Jake Paul had to overcome the biggest scare in his boxing career.
Tyron Woodley landed a big right hand over the top and set Paul stumbling into the ropes.
The YouTuber must be credited for surviving the shot and boxing out the round, later winning on points.

    DOUBLING DOWN
Tyron Woodley says he is willing to get ‘I love Jake Paul’ tatooed on him in order to land a rematch.

    YOU BETCHA
Jake Paul agreed to rematch Tyron Woodley – but only if the former UFC champion follows through with their tattoo bet.
Before the pair fought, they shook hands on the loser having the winner’s name tattooed on them.
Paul later won over eight-rounds by split-decision, but Woodley argued he deserved the win and demanded a rematch.
And he was told it was his – so long as he stayed true to his word and had ‘I love Jake Paul’ inked on him.
Paul, 24, said: “If you get the tattoo, I love Jake Paul, let’s run it back,”
Woodley, 39, replied: “Bet. Let’s go.”
Paul added: “Get the tattoo and we’ll run it back. We got the tattoo artist right here, so you ain’t going nowhere.
“Wipe the sweat off and shave that leg, because I’m fucking putting I love Jake Paul on your leg and we can run it back.”

    DISAPPOINTED
UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has also shared his disappointent at Tyron Woodley’s performance.

    SHOTS FIRED
It’s safe to say Tommy Fury wasn’t impressed by Jake Paul’s win over Tyron Woodley.
He said: “The can say whatever he wants about my performance, but he just went eight rounds with a guy that just walked forward like a plank of wood and didn’t throw a shot.
“And every time Tyron did throw a shot, he nearly knocked him out.”

    DIAZ DISS
UFC fan favourite Nate Diaz was far from impressed by Jake Paul’s clash with Tyron Woodley.
And he took to Twitter to express his frustration at the bout.

    BIG NIGHT ON THE CARDS
Showtime Sports president Stephen Espinoza has revealed Paul vs Woodley is currently on course to do ‘slightly below’ the numbers for Floyd Mayweather’s clash with Logan Paul.
He told MMA Junkie: “I think we’ll be pretty close to 15,000 in the arena. That’s probably a few tickets short of a sell-out. Less than 500 tickets, maybe closer at the time.
“The pre-buys are bigger than just about anything we’ve done lately short of Mayweather Paul.
“So it’s tracking within line with, but slightly below, Mayweather-Paul. Now look, I’m not saying it’s gonna hit a million buys. Because you have to take tracking with a large grain of salt.
“It’s a few thousands buys and trying to predict, five, six or seven hundred thousand. But the indicators are very good.”

    TALE OF THE TAPE
In case you’re unfamiliar with the pair’s respective boxing records, here is the tale of the tape for Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley.
Although Woodley has 0 professional boxing matches to his name, he does have a wealth of cage time to his name having had 27 pro MMA fights.
How Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley compare ahead of their boxing match
BETTING SPECIAL GET PAUL AT 7/1 OR WOODLEY AT 14/1
    TESTING, TESTING 1-2-3
The Ohio State Athletic Commission WILL be drug testing Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley after their fight.
On Saturday, it emerged that the pair wouldn’t be subject to pre and post-fight testing.
The pair will, however, now have to submit samples to the commission after the showdown.
Source: @jakepaul and @TWooodley will be tested for PEDs by the Ohio commission following the fight tonight. Initially, there was an issue with the number of test kits available. That’s been rectified. @MikeBohnMMA reported there wouldn’t be testing, which was correct at the time— Mike Coppinger (@MikeCoppinger) August 29, 2021

    ‘PRESSURE’
Former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley hasn’t tasted victory since submitting Darren Till in September 2018.
And former middleweight champion Michael Bisping reckons, The Chosen One – who has lost his last four on the bounce – is under a world of pressure.
‘The Count’ told SunSport: “He does look motivated. But I think that’s because he’s feeling the pressure.
“Of course, he had a great career as champion and in the UFC he was a phenomenal fighter.
“I would assume he’ll be in the Hall-of-Fame one day, but he’s lost his last four.
“I did see some interviews a while ago. He fell into the trap that a lot of fighters do, a lot of athletes do, with overspending money and things like that.
“I’m not sure of his financial situation, I’m sure he’s OK. But this is all he knows.
“And he’s probably training like a madman because he’s feeling the pressure.

    FINAL TROLLING
Jake Paul somewhat bizarrely kept making reference to Tyron Woodley’s backside during one of his final pre-fight interviews.
And he did so again not long after Saturday’s ceremonial weigh-ins.

    SNEAK PEEK
Take an inside look at the 20,000 capacity Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, which will be full to the brim when Paul and Woodley make their respective walks to the ring in a few hours’ time.

    INFLUENCER VS MMA
Good evening, folks. I’m Chisanga Malata and I’ll be keeping you up to date with all the ongoings from the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio – the venue for Jake Paul’s clash with former UFC Tyron Woodley.
Not long now until we find out if Paul can actually hang with elite combatants.
And I have to admit, I’m quite excited to see if he can.

Here’s how the night will pan out from bottom to top, with the first fight getting underway at 12.30am UK time on BT Sport Box Office.

    PAUL ON MASIVDAL
Here’s what Jake Paul thinks about Jorge Masvidal’s assertion that Tyron Woodley should beat him easily.
“I wasn’t surprised by Masvidal,” Paul said.
“He has the same manager as [Tyron Woodley] and the guy is kind of an airhead, let’s be honest, Masvidal is not smart.
“Does anybody here listen to a Jorge Masvidal interview and go ‘wow, this guy is an intellectual and he’s a smart guy. The way he talks, he’s very well spoken’ – I don’t think anybody says that.
“He’s like a street fighter gangster who got knocked the f*** out in his last fight. So maybe he’s losing a couple of brain cells.
“If I’m your friend, I’m your friend. If he wants to switch up, hoes will be hoes.”

    DRUG-TESTING?
Apparently not on fight night anyway, despite Jake Paul’s claims there would be.
The Ohio State Athletic Commission head tells me Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley will NOT be subjected to fight night drug tests.Only athletes to be tested on the card are those competing in title bouts. #PaulWoodley— Mike Bohn (@MikeBohnMMA) August 28, 2021

    WHITE RESPONDS
Dana White has responded to a call-out for a fight from Jake Paul.
“It actually makes sense,” White said.
“I’m 52-years-old. I’m in the age bracket of guys he fights, so yeah, I could see him wanting to fight me. It’s all he fights are 50-year-olds.
“Let me tell you what, get in line. There are plenty of people who would like to assault me.
“Get in line. It’s a long f***ing line, buddy. You’re going to be waiting for a while.
“No, it doesn’t bother me. This is the business we’re in. I say it all the time about the fighters, too.
“We are not in the nice guy business. This is a very mean business. I say many mean things about people, too. It’s just part of this game. It’s all good.”
    SOME DIFFERENCE!
Fair to say Jake Paul is up against someone with a much stricter diet in Tyron Woodley tonight…

    TAYLOR TALKS 🗣
Here’s what Anthony Taylor thinks of his clash with Tommy Fury tonight.
“I can get in close with him, I can out-box him on the outside. He is tailor-made for me. He is [slow] like a mummy,” he explained.
“I’ve been boxing since I was 18 but fell in love with MMA at 26. I don’t have amateur experience but I have sparred many pro boxers.
“People just think ‘MMA fighter’. I am a boxer-wrestler. When I train for a fight, I don’t spar amateurs, I go to pro boxing gyms and spar taller guys.”

    BIG DOGS
Here’s how Dubois and Cusumano looked weighing in yesterday in Cleveland.

    AMERICAN DEBUT
Elsewhere on tonight’s card, Daniel Dubois is in action on his debut in the USA under new trainer Shane McGuigan.
The Brit heavyweight, who lost to Joe Joyce last year, has since rebounded with a win over Bogdan Dinu.
And tonight he’ll take on Joe Cusumano in another stay-busy fight as he looks to become mandatory to Anthony Joshua’s WBA world title.

    HOMETOWN GLORY
Jake Paul has had one hell of a career, mostly as a content creator but now he’s looking to make history as a boxer.
And tonight he returns to his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.
The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will play host and there could be up to 20,000 spectators in attendance at the fight.
    NO CAP 🧢
Jake Paul tried to take Tyron Woodley’s cap at the weigh-in yesterday. And it didn’t work.
He did enjoy some chicken, though.
Jake Paul tucks into some chicken fingers after the face-offs and nearly sparks another brawl with the Woodley camp.Time to settle this in the ring.#PaulWoodley | 29 August | BT Sport Box Office pic.twitter.com/4A11EvpD8F— Boxing on BT Sport 🥊 (@BTSportBoxing) August 28, 2021
