Why aren’t West Ham playing in the Europa League knockout stage?
West Ham are not playing in this week’s Europa League knockout stage because they won their group.
A change in competition rules means the group winners are fast-tracked to the Round of 16 and avoid the Round of 32.
Only the group runners-up now participate in the Round of 32, where they face one of the third placed teams from the Champions League group stage.

🥊 Khan vs Brook – ring walk time, undercard, TV channel and live stream info for HUGE fight night
What is the Amir Khan vs Kell Brook fight purse?
Khan will reportedly earn £5m for the bout, with Brook on £3m.
Bolton star Khan has said he is getting a “lion’s share” of the purse.
    What have they said?
Khan: “I don’t hate Kell, this is just another day at the office.
“There is no love between us but I have been living in Kell’s head for the past 10 years, I might even owe him some rent for it.
“But now I have to put him in place.
“After the fight, there will be respect and maybe we can even be friends, he does seem like a nice guy.
“Maybe one day we will have a coffee together and a chit-chat but now is too soon.”
Brook: “He is a drama queen, he has a terrible ego, while I am a down-to-earth kid who wants to make the fight at almost any cost.
“I know what we have had to do to make this fight, bend over backwards, and I know this fight has only happened because of me.
“If I go a pound over, it costs me £100,000. Every pound is £100,000 so I cannot afford to do it.
“It makes it interesting and exciting but I am preparing for him now and waiting for this to get confirmed has put me in a bad way before.
“I am excited to put everything on hold and get this fight done.”

What is a catchweight in boxing and UFC?

BOXING and MMA are sports jam-packed with fighters of all different shapes and sizes. And it’d be foolish to have anyone fight whoever they please, regardless of their physical size or stature, so weight classes were introduced.

In boxing, there are 17 different weight divisions, starting at strawweight and ending all the way up in the sport’s blue-riband division, heavyweight.
In the UFC, the world’s largest MMA organisation, there are 12 weight classes, eight for the male fighters and four the females.
But what happens when two fighters can’t agree to a fight in a particular weight class? Introducing the catchweight…
What is a catchweight in combat sports?
A catchweight is the weight agreed to by both participants in a fight which is stipulated to take place outside of the exciting weight classes in the sport.
This weekend, Amir Khan takes on Kell Brook in a huge Brit grudge clash, and although both have fought their careers from super-lightweight all the way up to super-welterweight, the pair won’t be fighting in any of those.
Instead, the fight is taking place at 149lbs, which is two pounds above the standard welterweight limit.
Catchweights are agreed to in a contract and they’re usually brought in to accommodate a fighter who struggles to make weight, with the opposing fighter unlikely to want to move up a full weight class.
Should a fighter weigh-in heavier than the agreed-to weight class, there are usually purse charges in place as punishment.
In the case of Khan and Brook, if either fighter misses the 149lb limit, it’s been reported that they face a huge six-figure fine for their troubles.
Catchweight fights don’t happen as often in the UFC as they do in boxing, but there have still been some instances.
Current featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski fought at a 150lbs catchweight against Shane Young in 2017, taking the fight on a weeks notice.

And that means they have to play an extra round against Dortmund, who came third in their Champions League group behind Ajax and Sporting.
In a humbling experience for the Gers boss, Van Bronckhorst’s team will face Giovanni Reyna – a player who is named after him!
Reyna is the son of Claudio, a former USA midfielder who spent two years at Ibrox, becoming the closest of pals with Van Bronckhorst during their time together.
In the aftermath of the draw, Van Bronckhorst said: “Gio [Reyna] sent a text straight to my eldest son.
“They’re almost the same age. It’s good to be drawn against him.
“It’s a special moment for both of us, knowing each other.
“I’ve known Gio his whole life and he is named after me, so they won’t come better than this.
“We visited him 18 months ago to watch one of his Dortmund games.
“And I’ve already been in contact with his dad Claudio. We’re good friends and hopefully he can come to the games.
“All in all, it’s a very special moment for both of us.
“But being the professionals we are, we want to be the best for our clubs. That’s normal.”

    Team news
City have some absentees in key positions, but Jack Grealish remains the biggest of the lot.
The England star is out of the trip with a leg injury.
Kyle Walker is suspended after picking up a red card in City’s final group game against RB Leipzig.
He will also miss the second leg and the first leg of the quarter-final if City progress.
