      When is the British Grand Prix?

      The F1 British Grand Prix will take place this weekend on Sunday, July 3.
      The race will take place at the famed Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire and will get underway at 3pm BST.
      Practice One begins at 1pm UK time on Friday, July 1, with Practice Two to get going from 4pm.
      Practice Three starts at 12pm on Saturday, July 2 and qualifying is on at 3pm later that day.

      Coincidentally, the father of Verstappen’s girlfriend Kelly Piquet is Nelson, a former three-time world champion himself.
      The Brazilian was known for making controversial and outlandish comments when he was a driver.

      Who is Nelson Piquet?
      A three-time world champion, Piquet is one of the most decorated drivers in F1 history.
      He won his first title in 1981 with Brabham, before winning another just two years later with the same team.
      Piquet then moved to Williams for two years and won his third title in his second year with the British racing team.
      The Brazilian announced his retirement fromn the sport in 1992 and since then has attemped to race in the Indy 500.

      Piquet also founded his own racting team, Piquet Sports, in 2000,

      What did Piquet say about Hamilton?
      The Brazilian used a derogatory term in an interview that was given in November last year when speaking about the 2021 British GP.
      Piquet, whose daughter Kelly is in a relationship with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, slammed Hamilton’s driving at Silverstone where he made contact with the Dutchman on an explosive first lap.
      Verstappen was sent hurtling in the barriers and taken to hospital for checks while Hamilton went on to win his home race for an eighth time.
      Piquet claims Hamilton was at fault and referred to him with the offensive term, which was initially missed by local Brazilian media.
      The 69-year-old has apologised for what he says was an “ill thought out” comment, made in November last year.
      A statement from Piquet said: “What I said was ill thought out, and I make no defence for it.”
      He added: “I strongly condemn any suggestion that the word was used by me with the aim of belittling a driver because of his skin colour. 
      “I apologise wholeheartedly to anyone that was affected, including Lewis, who is an incredible driver, but the translation in some media that is now circulating on social media is not correct.
      “Discrimination has no place in F1 or society and I am happy to clarify my thoughts in that respect.”

      Why is Tommy Fury banned from the US?
      On June 28, 2022 on the week of the planned press conference in New York, Tommy Fury announced he had been denied entry into the United States.
      Fury revealed on Instagram that his ESTA, which is needed to get into America, had been rejected.
      Fury said: “So I just want to come on here and set the record straight before anyone else tries to.
      “Me and my team this morning arrived at Heathrow Airport ready for the press conference, ready to fly out.
      “As soon as I entered the airport I got pulled to one side and I was told by a Homeland security officer that was there that my ESTA had been denied and I wasn’t able to travel to the USA for a reason that I apparently know.

      “I can stand here and say I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong and I have no clue why I am not allowed to travel to the USA.
      “Like I say I’ve been training for a fight for this whole time, and that’s all I’ve been doing.”
      Fury went on to insist he had “no clue” as to why he had been denied entry into the States.
      But the former Love Island contestant vowed he was trying to resolve the matter.
      He continued: “I have no clue why they would not allow me to travel today, and neither does any of my team or my lawyers.
      “Now I’m having to go to Embassies and all this sort of stuff to try and resolve it, and I’m in the middle of training guys.
      “I don’t know why this has happened today it’s a massive shock to me and my whole team. Obviously it’s a matter that needs to be resolved, it’s government issues. You know it’s a lot bigger than the fight right now and I’m just trying to get it sorted.
      “But I just wanted to let you all know where it was at.”
      It comes amid rumours that his brother and heavyweight champ Tyson is banned from entering the US due to his links with Daniel Kinahan, who is wanted by the US government.
      Most Valuable Promotions, who are promoting the show, said in a tweet: “Despite many assurances by Tommy Fury and his team that he was able to come to the U.S., and knowing that Tommy was in California just last month, we were surprised to learn that he had an issue at Heathrow airport on Monday.
      “As a result of circumstances out of our control, the scheduled press conference for Wednesday at MSG has been postponed. We are working with our partners at SHOWTIME and Madison Square Garden and will share more information as soon as we are able.”

      Piquet claims Hamilton was at fault and referred to him with the offensive term, which was initially missed by local Brazilian media.

      Hamilton’s Mercedes team have also slammed Piquet, who won the world championship with Brabham in 1981 and 1983, and again with Williams in 1987.

      KELLY HOLMES was born on April 19, 1970 and is a retired Olympic champion having won gold at the Athens Olympics in 2004 in both the 800 and 1500 metres.She was brought up in Kent and began training for athletics at the age of 12, joining the Tonbridge Athletics club.

      Kelly won her first 1500 metre Commonwealth title in 1994, she went on to regain the title in 2001.
      At the Sydney Olympics in 2000 she won bronze in the 800 metres.
      She won silver in the 800 metres at the World Championships in 2003.
      Won two gold medals at the Athens Olympics in 2004 in both 800 and 1500 metres.
      Kelly was awarded a DBE in 2005 and is officially a Dame.
      Why did she retire?
      Kelly decided to retire in 2005 admitting she was no longer motivated to continue, after learning of the sudden death of Tim O’Brien; a man she met whilst undergoing physiotherapy.
      Speaking at the time she said: “It just totally shook me up and started making me think about my future.”
      She added: “I have achieved everything I wanted to in my life and want to make the most of my life from now on.”
      Kelly’s mother Pam Norman passed away in 2017 from myeloma, a form of blood cancer and the athlete revealed she resorted to self harming on the day she died.
      Kelly has said she battled with self-harm at the height of her career.
      She said: “I had so many injuries and it led to depression, self-harm, a breakdown and anxiety attacks.
      “No one should judge other people, because when it’s your life, it’s hell. I would love to tell my younger self, when she was going through it, that she would be ok. I’d tell her to talk to people.”
