And now, Son has been pictured in training wearing a marvel-type mask.
Find out why the tricky winger has been forced to wear a mask below…
Why is Son Heung-min wearing a mask?
Son Heung-min is wearing a protective mask following a fractured eye socket he sustained in a Champions League win a couple of weeks ago.

The Spurs star had a sickening collision with Marseille defender Chancel Mbemba’s shoulder.

And as a result, Son required immediate attention, before coming off the field early where he then needed to undergo surgery a few days later.
Thankfully for the South Korea captain, the surgery was a success and he was then called up to the Asian giants World Cup squad.
    What has Son Heung-min said?
The Tottenham forward revealed how honoured he is to play for his country and that it will take a lot more than a fractured eye socket for him to miss the World Cup.
Son said: “Playing for your country at the World Cup is the dream of so many children growing up, just as it was one of mine too.
“I won’t [miss] this for the world. I can’t wai to represent our beautiful country. See you soon. Sonny.”

What is VAR and when is it used?

FOOTBALL is a fast-paced and contact sport which doesn’t always allow the referee to determine what is a foul or not at first sight.Sometimes, the ref and his officials need to take a close look at what happened to determine the outcome and that is why the Virtual Assistant Referee (VAR) was created.
VAR is used across several competitions in Europe such as the top five leagues
    How does VAR work?
The video assistant referee can be called upon for four key on-field incidents.
    These are:

    Awarding goals
    Penalty decisions
    Red card decisions
    Cases of mistaken identity

The video assistant referee will be the one to let the on-pitch referee know that a decision needs to be analysed.
The VAR will liaise with the on-pitch referee to relay information on calls and at times the on-pitch official might need to go and take a look at the action himself from a screen installed in the stadium.
The video assistant referee – a top official who is watching the game away from the stadium – has access to every camera angle and goal-line technology cameras.
And interestingly, he will have to wear FULL KIT while on duty.
The VAR also has an assistant watching the game with them.
    Most read in football

    What technology does VAR use?
VAR uses over 30 cameras installed in the stadium to be able to capture every angle.
This helps the virtual assistant referee to view an incident such as a penalty from every angle and determine whether there was contact or not.
Types of cameras used include broadcast cameras, slow-motion cameras, high-definition wide-angle and tight cameras.
There is also an audio communication system used which enabled the on-pitch referee to speak with the off-pitch one.
By the dugout or in an appropriate place by the pitch line, you’ll also find a screen installed for the on-pitch referee to view any controversial incidents.
In the Premier League, the Hawk-Eye’s virtual offside line technology is used to determine whether a player was onside or not.
    It has two levels.
One of them is the gridline which shows a two-dimensional line that is positioned with the final player.
This is mainly used when a player is clearly offside or not.
On the other hand, sometimes two players may be too close to each other to determine whether a goal was offside or not.
That is why there is another level of lines called crosshair.
These two offside lines are drawn, one in correspondence with the last player of the defending team and the other with the player of the offensive team.
It also features a 3D vertical line which shows whether another body part, such as an arm, is offside or not and in that case, the goal would be disallowed.
    Who created VAR?
VAR was created by the Royal Netherlands Football Association.
The project was created in 2010 and was tested across Eredivisie – the Dutch league – games.
Testing was then further made throughout the Premier League, however, the system made its international debut in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
What competition is VAR used in?
Many European and South American domestic leagues introduced the VAR system such as:

The Premier League together with domestic cups like the FA Cup
Serie A and the Coppa Italia
La Liga and the Copa del Rey
    Bundesliga and DFB Pokal
Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France
    Major League Soccer in America
    Brasileirao
    Argentine Primera Division.

It is also used across main FIFA and UEFA competitions such as the World Cup and the EUROs.
We cannot leave out its use in the Champions League, Europa League and the Conference League. More

How much does the World Cup trophy cost?

THE FIFA World Cup is one of the most-viewed sports events in the world being the best football festival celebrated across the globe. The winner out of 32 teams gets to lift the prestigious World Cup trophy.
The current FIFA World Cup trophy was first used in Germany 1974
What is the World Cup trophy called?
The current trophy is called the Fifa World Cup Trophy.
Before FIFA awarded teams with a different trophy called the Jules Rimet trophy.
It was named after the FIFA President who founded the tournament back in 1929.
However, in 1974, FIFA created this new gold trophy and was first lifted by Germany as World Cup winners against The Netherlands.
West Germany scored two goals thanks to Paul Breitner’s penalty and a goal from Gerhard Muller.
These goals helped make a comeback against The Netherlands who had a penalty scored by Johan Neeskens in the second minute of the final.
It has been lifted by many great footballers such as Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and Fabio Cannavaro among many others and weighs in at a hefty 6.2kg.
FIFA’s regulations now state that the trophy, unlike its predecessor, cannot be won outright, with the winners of the tournament receiving a bronze replica.
How much gold is in the World Cup trophy?
Solid gold, the trophy depicts two figures holding up the world.
With the base removed, it still weighs over 5kg and the gold is 18-carat.
It was designed by Italian artist Silvio Gazzaniga and beat competition from 53 other submissions.
How much does the World Cup trophy cost?
When it was first created, the trophy cost around $50,000.
However, over time its value increased and is now estimated to cost around $20million.
Where is the original World Cup trophy?
As we said before, the original was called the Jules Rimet Trophy and was used between 1930 and 1970.
Before 1946, it was called Victory, however, the name changed in honour of Jules Rimet.
Famously stolen in 1966 and then found by Pickles the dog, Bobby Moore lifted the trophy in England’s only World Cup triumph.
Rimet had stipulated before his death that if a team won the tournament three times they could keep the gong – and Brazil managed to achieve that feat in 1970.
Sadly the trophy was stolen again in 1983 and it is widely believed that the thieves melted it down. More

What football team is Prince William supporting at the World Cup 2022?

PRINCE William has been a fan of sport all of his life and has attended numerous big events over the years. The Prince of Wales has been present for huge rugby matches, is patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, has been known to attend Wimbledon finals and big events during the 2012 London Olympics.
Prince William is regularly spotted at matches at Aston VillaCredit: Getty
But his true sporting passion lies with football.
He is a FA president and regularly attends England matches.
And this winter he’ll be watching on as the FIFA World Cup returns in Qatar.
But who will the heir to the throne be supporting?
    Read more on Royals
Who is Prince William supporting at the World Cup?
Prince William has joked he is supporting both England and Wales in their World Cup 2022 campaigns.
However, he gave the England team a send off before they headed off to Qatar, telling them: “The rest of the country is behind you, we are all rooting for you. Enjoy it.”
But as his royal title is the Prince of Wales, his words have caused a bit of controversy, mostly with Welsh actor Michael Sheen.
Sheen tweeted: “He (Prince William) can, of course, support whoever he likes and as President of the FA his role makes visit understandable – but surely he sees holding the title Prince of Wales at the same time is entirely inappropriate? Not a shred of embarrassment? Or sensitivity to the problem here?”
Prince William has also said: “I’m telling everyone I’m supporting both, definitely. I can’t lose.
“I’ve supported England since I’ve been quite small. But I support Welsh rugby and that’s my way of doing it.
“I happily support Wales over England in the rugby so I’ve got to be able to play carefully with my affiliations.
“I worry otherwise if I suddenly drop England to support Wales then that doesn’t look right for the sport either. So I can’t do that.”
Prince William was at Aston Villa’s playoff victory against Derby County, where he watched the game with former striker John CarewCredit: Reuters
What club does Prince William support?
You would be wrong in thinking that William supports the team his dad, King Charles, does.
Charles supports Burnley. But when William was younger, he decided to go a different route.
William supports Aston Villa and has been present at plenty of their games over the past two decades.
Explaining his reasoning for supporting Villa, he said that he didn’t want to follow in the footsteps of schoolmates who all chose to support Manchester United or Chelsea.
Prince William said: “A long time ago at school I got into football big time. I was looking around for clubs.
“All my friends at school were either Manchester United fans or Chelsea fans and I didn’t want to follow the run of the mill teams.
“I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments.
“Aston Villa’s always had a great history. I have got friends of mine who support Aston Villa and one of the first FA Cup games I went to was Bolton v Aston Villa back in 2000. Sadly, Villa went on to lose to Chelsea.
“It was fantastic, I sat with all the fans with my red beanie on, and I sat with all the Brummie fans and had a great time.
“It was the atmosphere, the camaraderie and I really felt that there was something I could connect with.
“People like Paul Merson were playing and I thought if people like him can play as well as he does, knowing the struggles he was under at the time…this is a club I can support.
“I was also born in ‘82, the year we won the (European) Cup, so I feel the history and pedigree around Villa has always been quite close to me.”
Prince William supported Wales during the 2015 Rugby World Cup when they beat England at TwickenhamCredit: Getty
Which international rugby team does William support?
When it comes to the oval ball, the Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge backs Wales.
He is patron of the Welsh Rugby Union and is regularly seen at major international fixtures.
During the 2015 Rugby World Cup, when England and Wales played each other in the same pool, he was wearing a red Welsh jersey at Twickenham, while Harry wore a white English shirt.
Wales won the match 28-25 and the Red Rose were dumped out of their home World Cup a few days later.
