Man Utd vs Wolves LIVE: Red Devils eye perfect start to new season against opponents in disarray – TV and stream info

MANCHESTER United’s Premier League 2023/24 opener sees them welcome Wolves to Old Trafford tonight. The Red Devils had an indifferent pre-season having comfortably beat Community Shield winners Arsenal and French side Lens.

Gary O’Neil will take charge of his first game as Wolves manager at Old Trafford after being appointed this weekCredit: Getty
But in between those results, Erik ten Hag’s men lost THREE matches on the bounce.
However, playtime is over as United look to make a winning start to the new campaign and they’re out to prove a point.
The Manchester club looked much improved last term, but will be wanting to show they can mix it with the big boys once again and fight for the title.
They start the new season by hosting Wolves who are trying to steady the ship after Julen Lopetegui’s shock exit this week.
    Read more on Man Utd
The Midlands club have announced former Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil as the new manager at Molineux.
The 40-year-old will have the tough task of toppling Ten Hag’s team on Monday night as he tries to make the most of the infamous ‘new manager bounce’.
He’ll have plenty to worry about though with Wolves losing star man Ruben Neves to Al-Hilal this summer alongside a whole host of other players who have left the club during the window.
Man United on the other hand have made big investments as they try and improve on last season’s third place finish in the Premier League.
    Most read in Football
Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund have all come through the doors at Old Trafford, although the latter won’t be available for Monday’s clash.
    What is their form like?
Man United have been a mixed bag in pre-season, but will take confidence from their strong end to last term’s league campaign where they won four on the trot to secure Champions League football.
Wolves’ pre-season preparations on the other hand have been remarkably solid despite their managerial problems.
They are undefeated in all of their warm-up friendlies and even managed a shock 1-0 win over Portuguese giants Porto.
What is the team news and any injuries to worry about?
Erik ten Hag will be forced to start the 2023/24 campaign without Amad Diallo (knee), Kobbie Mainoo (ankle) and Tyrell Malacia (muscular).
Mega summer signing Hojlund is also unavailable having sustained a ‘small issue’ during his pre-season training with former side Atalanta.
Rasmus Hojlund is officially a Manchester United playerCredit: Getty
However, Frenchman Anthony Martial should be ready to return following his muscular injury.
Meanwhile, it is all positive signs for Wolves boss Gary O’Neil as the quartet of Joao Gomes, Mario Lemina, Sasa Kalajdzic and Chiquinho should all be available for the tough test at Old Trafford.
Who will be the star men?
Marcus Rashford was Man Utd’s stand out player last season and it’d be no surprise if he was to be their star once again.
He scored 17 goals in the Premier League last term and you can expect him to bag on a regular basis again this season.
As for Wolves, they’re looking for a new star man after selling club captain Neves this summer.
Matheus Cunha has completed his permanent £44million move from Atletico Madrid after he spent last season on loan at Molineux.
New boss O’Neil will be hoping he can get the best of his megabucks forward if he’s to pull off a shock victory in his first game in charge.

    What have the managers said?
Erik ten Hag has been raving about new signing Mason Mount ahead of what will likely be his competitive debut for the club.
He said in a recent interview: “I’m sure he will contribute to the success of United because he is a quality player.”
    SunSport prediction
Manchester United will be looking to impress their home fans on the opening day against a Wolves team that will have barely had enough time for the dust of Julen Lopetegui’s departure to settle.
Gary O’Neil could find it too hard to organise his new squad in time to pull off a huge result and United should find themselves comfortable victors.
    Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Wolves
When is Man Utd vs Wolves?

Manchester United’s opening Premier League fixture against Wolves will take place on Monday, August 14.
It is scheduled to get underway at 8pm BST.
Old Trafford in Manchester is the allocated arena for this huge match and it can host approximately 74,310 fans.
Goals from Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho saw the Red Devils run out 2-0 winners when the sides last met in May.

What TV channel is it on and can it be live streamed?

Manchester United vs Wolves will be broadcast LIVE on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League in the UK.
Coverage is scheduled to commence from 6:30pm BST on both channels – an hour and a half before kick-off.

And many labelled England’s performance as heroic having had to fight from 1-0 down after Santos’ incredible effort.
However, Sarina Wiegman’s women are set to enter a cauldron for the semi-final as they take on Australia in their own backyard.
The Aussies got the better of England when the sides last met in April – but that was a friendly.
England are yet to lose a competitive match under Wiegman.
READ MORE ON THE WORLD CUP
And the Lionesses have continued to prove that they can produce a result when it matters, no matter the circumstances.
For that reason, they are approaching the game with confidence and some cautious optimism.
    What is their form like?
England are undefeated so far at this Women’s World Cup, having secured wins over Haiti, Denmark, China, Nigeria (on penalties) and Colombia.
Meanwhile, Australia have suffered one defeat – to Nigeria.
    Most read in Football
The Matildas suffered a 3-2 loss to the Super Falcons in the group stages before sealing a 4-0 win over Canada to top Group B.
Australia saw off France in the quarter-finals, winning 7-6 on penalties following a 0-0 draw.
Who will be the star players?
Alex Greenwood has been an unsung hero for the Lionesses so far at the Women’s World Cup.
Her performances in defence have been faultless and she is a real leader among the team.
Alessia Russo and Lauren Hemp are also ones to watch.
Both strikers were excellent in Saturday’s game against Colombia and were rewarded with a goal each.

For Australia, Sam Kerr is most certainly the player to watch.
Although she has missed a chunk of the tournament so far due to an injury, the striker is likely to start against England.
Kerr scored against the Lionesses when the Matildas earned a 2-0 win over them in a friendly in April.
    What has been said?
England boss Wiegman does not fear the Matildas. In fact, she is excited about Wednesday’s clash.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, she said: “It is going to be really big. I’ve had a couple of questions about the rivalry, so it’s going to be bigger than I thought it was.
“I really like the people here, but that doesn’t mean there’s no rivalry here.”
    SunSport’s prediction
One thing is for sure – this’ll definitely be a tight game.
But England have found a way to win when it matters on every occasion since Wiegman took over, no matter how good the opponent.
So for that reason, we think England could progress on Wednesday.
    Prediction: England 2-1 Australia

    Who is Jason Tindall?
Jason Tindall, born on November 15, 1977, is an English professional football manager and former player.
Tindall is currently the assistant manager at Newcastle United.
During his youth career, the former footballer showed early promise, playing for Senrab FC, Arsenal and Charlton Athletic.
As a defender during his playing days, Tindall spent the majority of his senior career at ACF Bournemouth.
    Read More in Sport
The former footballer has also played for Weymouth.
Tindall played almost 200 games for Bournemouth, before retiring as a player in 2011 – however, his love for the sport didn’t end there.
After hanging up his boots, Tindall went on to pursue a managerial career.
What clubs has Jason Tindall managed?
In 2007, Tindall was appointed as Player-manger of Weymouth, but was sacked a year later after a 2007–08 season record of only three wins.
    Most read in Football
After his exit from Weymouth, Tindall was appointed as assistant manager to Jimmy Quinn at Bournemouth in 2008.
Following Quinn’s departure from the club, Eddie Howe was promoted to Caretake Manager, before becoming the permanent manager with Tindall as his assistant.
In 2020, Howe left the club by mutual consent and Tindall took over as manager on a temporary basis.
One week after Howe’s departure, Tindall was appointed as manager of Bournemouth on a permanent basis, following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
However, the former footballer was sacked in 2021 after performances ‘fell well below expectations.’
Tindall has also been Howe’s No 2 at Burnley’s Turf Moor and now St James’ Park.
How does Jason Tindall know Eddie Howe?
Prior to joining forces in the dugout, Jason Tindall first crossed paths with Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe in 1998, when the pair were team-mates at Bournemouth.
Howe previously explained: “We didn’t really have a relationship. We’re really different people.
”But there’s a force when we come together that’s really powerful.”
What is the Jason Tindall meme?
In 2023, a social media account detailing Jason Tindall’s antics went viral.
Often spotted shaking the opposition gaffer’s hand before Howe and grinning widely at the front of every team snap, those behind the posts accuse Tindall of hogging the limelight.
The Jason Tindall Desperate To Be Centre Of Attention account was set up in 2016
The Jason Tindall Desperate To Be Centre Of Attention account was set up way back in November 2016.
But the account’s followers sky-rocketed followers thanks to his shenanigans amid the Toon’s pursuit of Champions League qualification.
So much so that his Wikipedia page was changed to say: “Jason James Tindall (born 15 November 1977) is an English professional football manager and former player, who is currently the center of attention at Newcastle United.”
Following his viral moment, Tindall, also nicknamed ”Mad Dog” by fans, said he was happy to take the stick.
He said: ”It did make me laugh when I found out about the nickname ‘Mad Dog’.
“The haters love to hate but it just makes me laugh.
“It’s a compliment to Newcastle — it’s a rival a lot of other clubs don’t want. I’m thick-skinned enough now not to take anything personally.
“A lot of people like to hate and there’s a lot of jealousy out there.
“A lot of people don’t like Newcastle challenging at the top.
“Long may that continue, whether the stick does or not, who knows but there’s been a lot of love from Newcastle fans.”
Also responding to the meme, Manager Howe said that he had no issue with Tindall’s “eye for the camera”.
He explained: “I’ve spent the last half an hour laughing with him.
“It’s crazy how social media can create these things.
“He’s a good-looking guy so when people take pictures of him he gives off a good smile!
“I’ve heard he gets called ‘Mad Dog’ and I’ve started calling him it too.
“He’s an energetic personality, definitely more extroverted than I am, but that’s why we work. At his core, he’s a serious coach.”
Howe also said he “encourages” Tindall to be active throughout matches.
He added: “To understand his role you have to go back to where we started, which gives context to the reason he is in those situations.
“We started with no money with no real facilities and it was just the two of us.

“We did everything together. You name it, we did it. We were a partnership. We would travel five hours in a car together to watch the opposition.
“It was just the two of us and we’ve never changed that approach.” More
