Houghton has since lost his job as a window fitter following the sick act, the court heard.
Connie Combs, defending, said Houghton realised he was “out of line” and was “disgusted” by his actions.

A Sheffield Wednesday spokesperson told Mail Sport: “We are aware of the images circulating and have launched an immediate investigation together with South Yorkshire Police.
“We roundly condemn this completely outrageous and utterly deplorable behaviour. We can only apologise for the undoubted distress caused to Bradley’s family and friends.”
What has Dale Houghton been charged with?
The sick football fan was charged with a Public Order Offence after his arrest.
He appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today where he admitted causing harassment, alarm and distress.

The 31-year-old now faces a maximum of six months in prison for the offence and is set to be sentenced on November 17.
Judge James Gould warned Houghton he faces jail as he bailed him on the condition he does not attend any games.
The disgraced fan is also banned from going within a mile of Hillsborough on match days.
He was also slammed by Bradley’s mum, Gemma, for the “unforgivable” act.
In a victim impact statement, she said: “This image made me feel so many emotions. I find it hard to put into words.
“It is not just disrespectful to Bradley but also to other people who are going through the emotional trauma of dealing with cancer.
“This image portrays negatively. I feel upset that these two men used this image to get a reaction from Sunderland fans. It was unforgivable.
“I have nothing but loving memories of Bradley.”
    Who was Bradley Lowery?
Bradley Lowery was a Sunderland superfan who tragically died aged six, in 2017.
The brave little boy had been battling against a rare form of childhood cancer called neuroblastoma.
Bradley had been given the crushing diagnosis when he was just 18-months old.
After undergoing extensive surgery and pulling through chemotherapy, the footie-mad youngster went into remission for 18 months.
But the cancer returned in 2016 and his family were told the disease was terminal.
He captured the nation’s hearts appearing on the pitch alongside Sunderland captain Jermain Defoe several times.
The pair spent a lot of time with each other, including in the months before Bradley’s passing.
Defoe would text Gemma every morning asking for health updates on the brave boy.
The devastated football player paid an emotional tribute to his “best pal” following his death.
The club also honoured Bradley’s “indomitable spirit, tremendous courage and beautiful smile”.
The statement read: “Despite battling neuroblastoma for much of his all too short life, he demonstrated a bravery and fortitude beyond his years that humbled us all.
    “He was truly an inspiration.
“His heart-warming friendship with players and staff alike epitomised the impact this wonderful little boy had on everyone he met. He had a special relationship with Jermain Defoe and their feelings for each other were evident for all to see.

Who designed Aston Villa’s ‘wet look’ kit and what have players said about it?

EVERY year the world’s leading football clubs will change up their shirts for a different design. One club included on that list is Aston Villa – but who designed the kit and what have the players said in response? Here’s everything you need to know.
Lucy Staniforth pictured wearing the kitCredit: Rex
    Who designed Aston Villa’s kit?
Aston Villa’s 2023-2024 kit was designed by British kit supplier Castore.
The Manchester-based manufacturer are in the second season of a ”multi-year” deal with the club.
Castore’s tagline reads: “Demand better – premium performance.”
Andy Murray had a deal with the sports brand before they moved into football with Rangers.
    Read More in Sport
Since then the company has expanded rapidly, taking on deals with Newcastle, Villa and Wolves, as well as Feyenoord and many more.
They also manufacture gear for McLaren and Red Bull Racing, the Irish national football team and England cricket.
What have the players said about the new kit?
Both the men’s and women’s team have reportedly complained about the new ”wet-look” shirt and say it impacts their performances.
The kit appears to retain sweat and become heavy for those sporting the shirt.
    Most read in Football
This came to light in September 2023, as several fans and kit experts noticed that Villa’s Castore jerseys seemed to cling the players’ bodies.
Members of the men’s first-team squad were left looking like they had been drenched during their Europa Conference League clash with Legia Warsaw.
Although Villa’s home shirts appeared to suffer with the issue, Emiliano Martinez’s goalkeeper top appeared to be fine.
Similarly, Aston Villa Women were forced to wear the ‘wet-look’ shirt as the WSL got underway with the Midlands-based side kicking things off against Manchester United.
A source close to the team said they were “deeply concerned” about wearing the kits, with another describing them as feeling “really bad” to play in.
Speaking ahead of kick-off, Aston Villa Women’s boss Carla Ward said: “It’s up to the football club’s legal team and Castore to discuss that and deal with that.
“It’s something I’ve tried to completely ignore as difficult as that is.
“The football club are in full control of that. They’ve been excellent with us, myself and the players around it.”
The kit manufacturers responded to the controversy by stating they intend to ”address this issue as quickly as possible to meet the standards we expect”.
A Castore spokesperson said: “There has been some media speculation about a potential issue in the football kit supplied by Castore to Aston Villa Football Club.
”We are working closely in collaboration with the club to address this issue as quickly as possible to meet the standards we expect. We would like to thank the club for their patience and support to date.
    Read More:
”As a proud new British brand, we always hold ourselves to the highest of standards and strive to do everything we can to constantly improve the performance of our products. This means addressing any customer concerns with promptness and humility.”
There have been reports that Villa could terminate their deal with Castore. More

Will Tottenham vs Liverpool be replayed after Luis Diaz VAR error?

LIVERPOOL fans have united in fury after Luiz Diaz’ goal was wrongly ruled out in the controversial 2-1 defeat at Tottenham.PGMOL chiefs have admitted to a “significant human error”, explaining that VAR darren England believed he was confirming that Diaz was ONSIDE when he told referee Simon Hooper “check complete”.
Luis Diaz was wrongly flagged offside against TottenhamCredit: Not known, clear with picture desk
It was some 45 seconds after after play had restarted with a Spurs free-kick that Hooper was informed of the mistake.
But that meant there was nothing he could do under International FA Board VAR protocols and the Laws of the Game.
SunSport explains the cock-up – and what can happen next:
Why was Luis Diaz’s goal ruled out against Tottenham?
The flag initially stayed down when Mo Salah played Diaz in behind the Spurs defence but was then raised as the ball found the net – which was the assistant referee following the correct process when he believed it was a “tight” offside call.

That decision was automatically checked by VAR Darren England and his team at Stockley Park.
According to PGMOL, England and his assistant Dave Cook wrongly believed they were conforming the goal was onside, rather than determining that a mistake had been made by the onfield officials.

That led to them telling Hooper “check complete” – which inadvertently ratified the incorrect offside decision as far as the referee was concerned.
Play then restarted with a Spurs free-kick for offside and it was only at the next stoppage in play for a Liverpool throw 45 seconds later that Hooper was told of the error.

    Will the game be replayed?
There is no realistic possibility of the match being replayed.
Under the Laws of the Game, and this has not changed, “the referee’s decision is final”.
In this case, Hooper acted properly under both the laws and the VAR protocols.
Of course, Arsenal famously gave Sheffield United a replay (although still at Highbury) in a 1999 FA Cup tie after Nwankwo Kanu did not realise Ray Parlour was throwing the ball back to Blades keeper Alan Kelly and squared for Marc Overmars to score.
But Fifa actually criticised the FA for allowing that to happen because the result should have stood despite the circumstances.
    What have the PGMOL said?
So far, PGMOL have issued two statements.
The first, on Saturday evening, saw PGMOL “acknowledge a significant human error” and that “a clear and obvious factual error…should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention”.
PGMOL pledged “a full review into the circumstances which led to the error”.
Then on Sunday it was announced that England and Cook had both been stood down from their planned duties at Nottingham Forest v Brentford and Fulham v Chelsea respectively.
Diogo Jota was sent off in the game as Liverpool went down to NINE menCredit: Alamy
    What have Liverpool said?
Jurgen Klopp’s righteous frustration in the aftermath of the game was measured and understandable.
However, the club raised the ante with what many viewed as a contentious statement on Sunday night.
The Anfield club acknowledged PGMOL’s “admission of their failures” but added: “It is clear that the correct application of the laws of the game did not occur, resulting in sporting integrity being undermined.”
Liverpool said it was “unsatisfactory that sufficient time was not afforded to allow the correct decision to be made and that there was no subsequent intervention” and described the description of the mistake as “significant human error” as “unacceptable”.
The club finished: “In the meantime, we will explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution.”
Quite what that means is unclear – although hints at a demand for head to roll.
Liverpool’s initial comment was also incorrect. The Laws WERE applied but wrongly as a mistake was made in terms of the VAR’s non-intervention.
    What happens next?
PGMOL is under some pressure to release the full audio of the conversations between England and Hooper as soon as possible to demonstrate its version of events is accurate – even if that embarrasses the VAR.
    Read More:
It seems likely that both England and Cook will be sidelined this weekend as well, with that action potentially extended to after the international break.
But the Premier League will not order a replay – as it did not when the failed goalline technology missed Sheffield United’s “winner” at Villa Park in the first weekend back after lockdown in 2020. More
