What are the Manchester United chants?
Man United fans are often heard belting out their chants while supporting the team at Old Trafford.
Though some may now be out of date, they still live on in the hearts of the team’s supporters.
    Harry Maguire
Harry Maguire has been a hit with fans ever since he transferred to Man United from Leicester.
Maguire even has his own special chant which is sung to the tune of La Bamba.

    The song goes:
    “M, U, F, C!
    Harry Maguire!
    Harry Maguire!

He f***ed off Leicester, for Manchester,
    His head’s f***ing massive!”
    We shall not be moved
The “we shall not be moved” song is perhaps one of the more well-known Man United chants that can often be heard being belted out by fans.
The lyrics to this chant go:
“We shall not, we shall not be moved,
We shall not, we shall not be moved,
Just like the team, that’s gonna win the football league (again)
    We shall not be moved.”
    Hello, hello
This chant shouts out long-time Man United rivals Manchester City.
    The lyrics are:
“Hello Hello, we are the Busby Boys,
Hello Hello, we are the Busby Boys,
And if you’re a City fan surrender or you’ll die,
    We all follow United!”
Man United and Man City have had a fierce rivalry since the Victorian times.
    You are my Solskjaer
This song is a tribute to football manager and former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian was appointed as caretaker manager of Man United in 2018, and was then manager from March 2019 until November 2021.
The chant is sung to the tune of Johnny Cash’s famous song You are My Sunshine and the lyrics go:
    “You are my Solskjaer,
    My Ole Solskjaer,
    You make me happy,
    When skies are grey,
    Oh Alan Shearer,
    Was f***ing dearer,
    So please don’t take,
    My Solskjaer away.”
    U-N-I-T-E-D
This is another chant that references the Red Devils’ long-standing feud with rivals City.
Fans chanting this one can be heard singing:
    “U-N-I-T-E-D,
United are the team for me,
With a knick knack paddy whack give a dog a bone,
Why don’t City f*** off home.”
    We love United
One of the more simpler chants, this song goes:
    “We love United, we do,
    We love United, we do,
    We love United, we do
    Ooh United we love you!”
    Glory, glory Man United
Manchester United fans can often be heard singing this chant.
    The lyrics are:
    “Glory glory Man United,
    Glory glory Man United,
    Glory glory Man United,
As the Reds go marching on on on!”
There is also an extended version of the song.
    20 times
    This simple chant goes:
“20 times, 20 times Man United,
    20 times 20 times I say,
20 times 20 times Man United,
    Playing football the Busby way.”
This song references one of the team’s former managers, Sir Matt Busby, who died in 1994.
    Take me home
The “take me home” chant is sung to the tune of John Denver’s Take Me Home, Country Roads.
    The lyrics go:
    “Take me home, United Road,
    To the place I belong,
    To Old Trafford,
    To see United,
    Take me home, United Road.”
    United Calypso
Manchester United fans have another chant that pays tribute to the late Matt Busby.
The words to this song are:
    “Manchester, Manchester United,
A bunch of bouncing Busby Babes,
    They deserve to be knighted.
Whenever they are playing in your town,
You must get to that football ground,
Take a lesson come and see,
    Football taught by Matt Busby.”
Busby was manager of Man United between 1945 and 1969, and again for the second half of the 1970/71 season.
    Matt Busby’s aces
Yet another tribute to Man United’s former manager, “Matt Busby’s aces” features the lyrics:
    “Oh me lads,
You should have seen us coming,
    Fastest team in the League,
You should have seen us running,
    All the lads and lasses,
    With smiles upon their faces,
    Walking down the Warwick Road,
    To see Matt Busby’s aces!”
    Michael Carrick
Man United have a number of chants dedicated to former player Michael Carrick.
The footballer played for the team for 12 years and is now head coach of Middlesbrough.
One of the songs dedicated to the star goes:
    “He can pass, tackle, head,
    Michael Carrick is a Red,
Gerrard, Lampard, Fabregas, you’re not fit to wipe his a***!”
    Ohh aah Cantona
Like Busby and Carrick, Eric Cantona is another Man United star who has several chants in his name.
One of the most popular, “ooh aah Cantona,” goes:
    “Ooh Ah Cantona,
    Ooh Ah Cantona,
Ooh Ah, Ooh Ah, Ooh Ah Cantona.”
Cantona is widely regarded as one of the greatest Man United players of all time.
    George Best
This chant is performed to the tune of Norman Greenbaum’s 1969 hit Spirit in the Sky.
The song is in tribute to the late George Best, who played for the club for the most of his career.
The lyrics to this song go:
“Going on up to the spirit in the sky,
It’s where I’m gonna go when I die,
When I die and they lay me to rest,
I’m gonna go on the p*** with Georgie Best.”
Best passed way aged 59 in November 2005 as a result of a lung infection and multiple organ failure.
    Anthony Martial
Anthony Martial, who transferred to Man United in 2015, has his own special chant.
    His song goes:
    “Tony Martial came from France,
The English press said he had no chance,

    £50m down the drain,
    Tony Martial scores again.” More

    What is James Maddison’s celebration?
James Maddison’s celebration sees him moving his arm as if he is throwing a dart at a dartboard.
He performs the darts throw celebration as he is an avid fan, and player, of the sport.
Maddison regularly attends darts events and has spoken about his love for playing darts himself.
Other football players who have famous celebrations include Jude Bellingham, John McGinn and Cristiano Ronaldo.

McGinn’s trademark celebration sees him making goggles with his hands in tribute to his nephew who has poor eyesight.
Bellingham, meanwhile, has his own gesture which sees him standing with his arms wide open.
Ronaldo has performed his now infamous “Siu” celebration many times over the years though he appears to have taken on a new one since his move to Al-Nassr.
When does James Maddison perform his celebration?
Maddison performs his darts celebration after scoring a goal.

He first started doing the gesture while playing for Leicester and performed the move for the first time after scoring against Newcastle.
According to the Premier League’s official website, midfielder Maddison has scored 46 goals in 174 appearances.
He signed for Tottenham in June 2023, signing a five year deal for an undisclosed amount – which was rumoured to be upwards of £40million.
Prior to the Spurs, Maddison played for Leicester City for five years.
It was with Leicester that he scored his first Premier League goal in a 2–0 win against the Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Maddison, who has also played for Aberdeen and Norwich City, has also had an impressive international career.
He made his debut for England in 2019 and was named in the 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, though he did not play in the tournament.
What has James Maddison said about his celebration?
Maddison has spoken out about his beloved goal celebration.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the gesture he said: “The first time I did it was Newcastle away and it was during the Worlds.
“It was very much a topic of conversation and me and a few of the lads; Jamie Vardy, Luke Thomas and Harvey Barnes, we play darts all the time.
“Every away trip we get the board up when we’ve got time to kill and we play.
“I’ve got a board at home and I practice all the time!”
Bukayo Saka was seen copying Maddison’s famous darts move during the North London derby in September 2023.
While it may have looked like the Arsenal star was mocking Maddison, it turned out it was just some fun between the rival players.
Maddison explained to press: “Me and Bukayo had a bit of banter and a bit of trash-talking, if you like, on international duty.
“I got told that he did the darts celebration – he must’ve still been doing it when I turned him for the first goal.”

He then jokingly added: I’ll have a little word with him, yeah.”
Speaking to Sky Sports, Maddison added of Saka’s darts technique: “His action was terrible though, wasn’t it?!” More

Who is boxer Nathan Gorman and how is he related to Tyson Fury?

NATHAN Gorman is fighting Bohdan Myronets in Bolton on December 1 as he continues his quest for heavyweight glory. Here we look at Nathan’s career, and how he’s related to the best boxer of this generation — The Gypsy King.

    Who is Nathan Gorman?
Nathan, who was born on June 25, 1996 in Nantwich, Cheshire, is Tyson Fury’s cousin.
He is also a professional boxer, fighting in the heavyweight division.
Gorman lost his unbeaten record in July 2019 when he was knocked out by former amateur sparring partner Daniel Dubois.
Although he said it didn’t affect the outcome of the fight, his son Nathan Jr spent most of his training camp in hospital fighting for his life.
    read more on boxing
He told SunSport: “Daniel beat me absolutely fair and square and I will never use the situation I had with my son as an excuse.
“He had spent three weeks in intensive care with pneumonia and then needed surgery to remove a tumour on his chest and more hospital time to recover.
“I felt like it might have motivated me even more but, looking back, I should have pulled out or postponed the fight, but I was too proud to pull out, I felt I could not let everyone down.
“Afterwards I just wanted to disappear for a bit, I turned my phone off for two months and just regrouped with my family at the same time as realising how lucky I was.
    Most read in Boxing
“Now I have made some changes, trained all through lockdown and demanded a genuine fight that I have to win to kickstart my career again”.
Gorman’s son won his battles with pneumonia and a tumour on his chest, but Dynamite Dubois won the fight convincingly against Nathan Sr when he threw his box-and-move game plan out the window and went toe-to-toe with the powerhouse.
After a pep talk from WBC world champion Fury, Nathan returned to winning ways and realised the result was no more of a loss than it was a lesson.
Gorman said: “That was what it was for ideally and straight after the fight I got straight back in the gym, been working on a lot of new things.
“Without sounding silly, it was probably the best thing to ever happen to me getting beat because it’s made me learn a lot of things, a lesson.
    “I didn’t lose, I learned a lesson.”
Nathan bounced back in October 2020, with a stylish points decision over ten rounds against experienced Ghanaian Richard Lartey.
He explained: “My comeback fight, it was good to get back in the ring, get punched, throw some punches, and get the momentum back going.”
His winning ways continued until he faced Fabio Wardley in November 2022.
Wardley — managed by his mentor Dillian Whyte — showed heart to handle a gruesome broken nose and secure a TKO win.
What is Nathan Gorman’s boxing record?
Nathan has 21 fights under his belt, winning 19, losing two and drawing none.
He has won 13 of his fights via knockout, giving him a knockout ratio of 68.42%.
His 21 bouts have a total of 97 rounds, meaning on average Gorman’s fights last 4.6 rounds.
How is Nathan Gorman related to Tyson Fury?
Nathan is of Irish Traveller heritage.
He is cousins to boxers Tyson, Hughie (heavyweight) and Tommy Fury (light-heavyweight).
Gorman has fighting in his blood not just from the Fury family — he is also the great-nephew of undefeated bare-knuckle fighter Bartley Gorman.
What has Nathan Gorman said about Tyson Fury?
Following his first defeat to Dubois, Gorman told SunSport: “Tyson’s inspired not just me, but millions of people around the world. It’s incredible really.
“I spoke to Tyson and the best thing he said to me was ‘get back to boxing’.
    Read More on The Sun
“That was his advice, get back in the ring and do what you most happy with. And that’s boxing. And I did and I’m doing it at the minute.
“To me, I look at it this way, as long as I’m enjoying myself, it doesn’t matter what anybody thinks of me.” More

And as a result, Eddie Howe’s men have to depend on other results going their way to seal Champions League last-16 qualification.
Meanwhile, United’s European hopes hang by a thread after throwing away a two-goal lead against Galatasaray only to draw 3-3.
To stand any chance of earning a knockout spot, Erik ten Hag’s side would have to beat Bayern Munich at the Allianz on matchday six.
However, all attention now switches to the Premier League and both clubs will be determined to build on their emphatic wins last weekend.

    What is the team news?
Both managers have an extremely lengthy injury list ahead of this crucial clash.
Defender Dan Burn is still absent with a back injury, while Sven Botman remains sidelined with a knee issue.
Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson are both still recovering from their respective injuries and are not expected to return until the Christmas period.
Sean Longstaff could potentially make a return to face Man Utd on Saturday.

For Manchester United, Lisandro Martinez is still recovering from a foot injury so he will not be available.
Casemiro was forced off with a hamstring injury when United faced Newcastle in the Carabao Cup last month and is yet to return.
Jonny Evans picked up a thigh injury against Copenhagen before the international break and is unlikely to be ready in time for Saturday’s match.
Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount are also sidelined due to injury, as well as Amad Diallo and Tyrell Malacia.
Jadon Sancho has still been banished from the first team following his fall-out with Erik ten Hag.
    What is their form like?
Both teams head into the game off the back of disappointing results in the Champions League, with Newcastle failing to beat PSG and Man Utd squandering a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Galatasaray.
However, the Magpies stunned Chelsea 4-1 in their most recent Premier League game which will give them confidence when they host United.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have won each of their last three Prem games while also keeping three clean sheets.
Who will be the star players?
Alexander Isak returned from a groin injury to face Chelsea last week and opened the scoring within the opening 13 minutes.
The striker also scored a crucial goal for Newcastle against PSG on Tuesday, so he will arguably be the Magpies’ biggest threat.
Alexander Isak has scored in each of his last two Newcastle games
Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho is in fantastic form for Man Utd.
The 19-year-old scored the goal of the season so far when he fired a bicycle kick into the top-right corner against Everton last week.
He also scored for the Red Devils against Galatasaray on Wednesday, so Newcastle will have to keep a close eye on him at the weekend.
Alejandro Garnacho has scored two excellent goals in two games for United
    What has been said?
Discussing how he and his team plan to get over Tuesday’s disappointing 1-1 draw with PSG, Howe said: “I think we have to look that we’re still in the competition.
“The first thing to do is look a that because it could have been different tonight, so that game now is going to take on huge significance for lots of different reasons.
Eddie Howe is hoping to put Tuesday’s disappointment behind himCredit: Getty
“We’re back at home and we’re excited about the game when it comes around, so they’re huge positives for us, so that’s why I don’t think we should lose sight of that despite the disappointing ending.”
Meanwhile, Ten Hag admitted that he is responsible for Man Utd failing to win against Galatasaray.
He told TNT Sports: “I am responsible for this. We know we are in a project. We are making improvements, so that’s very hopeful.
“We are going in the right direction so I know we will be successful in the long-term, but if you want to stay in the Champions League you need to win these games.
“We were winning and then we’re losing it. We should have taken three points, that’s clear. We did this in other games. I was pleased with how we played but at the same time I have to criticise the team because the defending is not good enough.”
