LIVERISH and fearless, kind and condescending or agreeable and saccharine? Take your pick because TV football pundits come in every guise.As long as they are honest and clearly spoken, I don’t mind a bit.

I can take the raw whiskey that is Roy Keane, the Newcastle Brown of Alan Shearer and the bitter truth from Gary Neville.
The two who I only like in small doses are Graeme Souness, something of a know-all, and Chris Kamara who is too much like the kid at the back of the class who doesn’t pay attention.

Maybe he does make people wince with the sharpness of his tongue, though that is nothing compared with his vigour on the field.
He does stray from common ground, that’s for sure, as rebellious off the field as on it.
Keane was sent off 13 times in his football career with Nottingham Forest and Manchester United, and carries the fury of his football days into the TV studios.
Much of what the Irishman says hurts someone somewhere — and yet if you want truth unvarnished, he’s yer man. I like this in him.

Even United manager Sir Alex Ferguson couldn’t hold him back. They fell out and Keane walked off to play for Celtic. He has that sort of relationship with most people.
He made up with Sir Alex and just as he might wish he had held his fire, it is his strident beliefs that made him a great player and a man not to be denied by critics.
Keane’s relationship with Gary Neville runs hot and cold, always has.
Even Gary’s brother Phil recently said about their relationship: “Roy hated Gary so much — he used to fight with him every day.”
Neither has Gary ever held back on the pitch, or off it. His opinions are respected rather than feared.
His TV mate Jamie Carragher doesn’t gentrify his opinions — no self-respecting Scouser would — while Neville is as nerveless as Keane in delivering his views.
There is a quality of consideration about Neville, as though he has given a good deal of thought to, say, Jurgen Klopp’s tactical press or Marcus Rashford’s lack of goals.
His style as the friendly truth-teller has elevated him into the super-pundit class. For me, he is the best of the best.
Being a commentator is exacting but doing it by creating and managing a good team takes a lot more than colourful language.

Arteta joined the Gunners from Everton in 2011, and made his debut alongside Frimpong in the heart of midfield in a 1-0 win against Swansea.
Commenting on the 40-year-old, the former Wolves ace has lifted the lid on what Arteta was like in the dressing room.
Speaking exclusively to SunSport via BoyleXtra, Frimpong said: “He was someone that I used to think he was a player, but he used to act like a manager.

Frimpong then stated that he isn’t surprised that he took up a life in management after hanging up his boots in 2016.
He added: “No surprise, no surprise at all, he was the type of person that you knew would be a manager because he never stopped talking and never stopped learning.
“I remember we used to call him Wenger’s son because every time we used to go out on the training ground, he’d be there talking, asking Wenger questions.
“He was somebody that was never afraid to ask questions, it’s no surprise he’s become a manager to be honest.”

Asked who he would want to be brought in during the upcoming window, Frimpong, who came through the Arsenal academy before making 16 first team appearances, stated Rice is his No1 choice.
The ex-Ghana international believes the former Chelsea academy man could form a formidable partnership with Thomas Partey in the middle of the pitch.

DEFIANT Harry Maguire last night told pals he would not be forced out of Manchester United after a “cowardly fan” made a bomb threat against him and his family.The Red Devils’ skipper, 29, feared for the lives of his fiancée Fern Hawkins, 27, and their two young girls after a chilling email said an explosive device was planted at his £4m mansion.

The sick threat was issued on Wednesday — hours after United were beaten 4-0 by arch-rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Specialist police officers quickly arrived at Maguire’s property and made a thorough search, with no device found.
However the threat was deemed so serious police returned yesterday with a sniffer dog to make a second sweep of the grounds and surrounding area.
Again nothing was found but cops have launched an investigation into the threat, believed to have been made by a United fan.

A source close to the defender told The Sun last night: “Harry will not be forced out of Manchester United by this kind of threat.
“His number one priority will always be the safety of his family but he’s also got the strength of character to deal with this. It looks like the work of some cowardly fan.
“If that proves to be the case, they are an utter disgrace to the name of this proud football club.”
Police have not revealed the full contents of the message, but it warned an explosive device had been planted at Maguire’s home in Wilmslow, Cheshire, which he and his young family moved into a few months ago.

Other sources claimed the email also contained personal attacks on Maguire, who was signed from Leicester City for £80million in 2019.
United have recently suffered some poor results and performances, while Maguire was also booed by England fans when playing against Ivory Coast at Wembley.
The bomb threat comes after United players and partners were invited in to the club’s training ground to discuss security following a string of raids on stars including Victor Lindelof and Paul Pogba.
Maguire, believed to be earning around £190,000 a week, is planning to marry Fern in the summer at a French chateau.
The couple, parents to two-year-old Lillie Saint and Piper Rose, one next month, moved into their new mansion in December.
It is located in Cheshire’s swanky “golden triangle”, which is home to a raft of Premier League stars.
A source said: “It’s really shaken them but they’re all fine. Nothing is more important than the safety of his family and Harry will do anything to ensure that.
“The police carried out searches of the house which has hopefully made them feel a bit safer.”
A spokesman for Maguire, who is preparing to play away at Arsenal tomorrow lunchtime, said: “In the last 24 hours, Harry has received a serious threat to his family home.
“He has reported this to the police who are now looking into the matter.
“The safety of his family and those around him is obviously Harry’s number one priority.
“He will continue to prepare for this weekend’s fixture as normal.”

He and an accomplice fled to a waiting Mercedes saloon at 9pm on Easter Monday.
