Holgate, 26, started three of Everton’s first four league games under Frank Lampard this season before sustaining a knee injury at Brentford.
But the ex-England Under-21 international, who can also play right-back, could be available when the transfer window reopens in January due to Everton’s financial plight.
Lampard has an overload of defenders in Conor Coady, James Tarkowski, Yerry Mina, Ben Godfrey and Michael Keane while Everton are also keen to trim their wage bill.
Holgate played a major part under Lampard in the club’s successful fight against relegation from the top-flight last season.

But his strong start to this campaign was cut short after picking up a knee problem in the 1-1 draw at Brentford.
Coady and Tarkowski struck up a partnership in Holgate’s absence and his only appearance since then came in the 4-1 Carabao Cup loss at Bournemouth last month.
But Holgate, who is under contract with Everton under June 2025, is fully fit for the festive period and ready to kick-start his career.
Ahead of the Prem resumption on Boxing Day, Everton lie 17th in the table and just one point above the drop zone.

Frank Lampard is believed to be working on a tight budget in January as he looks to steer Everton away from another relegation battle.
A young and dynamic talent could fit well into Lampard’s side and Hall would likely be cheaper than many other options.
Leeds had attempted to land the youngster last summer but were put off by Birmingham’s high valuation.
Hall forms part of a young and exciting Birmingham midfield which also features Jude’s brother Jobe Bellingham, 17, and Jordan James, 18.

Hall has made 18 league appearances this season and has a goal and assist to his name.
His style of play has seen him compared to ex-Birmingham ace Jude Bellingham, who visited his old stomping ground on Friday night.
Birmingham manager John Eustace has previously spoken highly of the star.
He said: “George is a fantastic young player who’s a big player for us and for the team.
“I think and we’ll be looking forward to him coming back. He’s a top young player. But all I want to do is to keep on developing George in the right way, which I think we have done so far.” More

Forest have money to spend and want to boost their survival battle.
But Steve Cooper will explore other options first and Everton may have to settle for a fee around £15million at best.
Forest signed a remarkable 22 players in the summer window after returning to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.
But they still suffered a dreadful start to the season, picking up just six points in their opening 11 matches.

Speaking after the win over Palace, he told BBC Sport: “We know we’ve got a lot of work to do – whatever happened today the league position wasn’t going to look great.
“But at least we’re making positive steps, at least we’re picking up points.
“It’s been a really, really tough couple of months, we’ve had to do something that no team or manager or coaching staff has had to do before with the amount of players that have come in.
“Every time we’ve had a tough moment, we’ve responded with a performance or result so that’s reassuring. Days like today help belief grow and we’ve got to build on that.” More

They are planning to have the ground ready for the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.
It is due to hold up to 53,000 supporters – an increase of over 13,000 from Goodison Park.
In anticipation of the big opening in two years time, Premier League side Everton have been seeking naming rights for the stadium.
However, they have received somewhat of a surprise offer from America.

Stripchat is an international adult website and social network that features free live-streamed webcam performances – including nudity and sexual activity.
And they want to get onboard with the Blues.
In an email to Prolific North, Stripchat said: “With news that Everton is seeking naming rights for its new $566million stadium, Stripchat is officially extending a 10-year, $20 million-per-year offer to have the stadium named the Stripchat Sustainability Stadium.”
Stripchat’s VP of New Media, Max Bennett, then added: “Stripchat has officially extended our offer to Everton to be the official naming partner for the club’s new stadium.

“If our bid were to be accepted, we would make a concerted effort to make ‘Stripchat Sustainability Stadium’ the most progressive, responsible, and sustainable stadium in the world.”
Everton confirmed in September that they were partnering with US-based firm Elevate Sports Ventures to help them bring in a naming rights partner.
While they consider the proposal from Stripchat, the Toffees still have plenty of time to receive offers from elsewhere after the club refused to put a timescale on the search.
However, Everton have also stated that no official approach from Stripchat has been received.

Stripchat have claimed that part of the proposal would be to ensure the ground limits carbon output while it would also be used to host philanthropic events of importance that the company holds dear to its heart.
These would include sexual health events during “No Nut November” as well as support events for veterans during June for PTSD Awareness Month. More
