Inter star Romelu Lukaku reveals he didn’t talk for FOUR DAYS after losing Europa League final to Sevilla

INTER MILAN star Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he didn’t talk for FOUR DAYS after losing the Europa League final.
The Belgian went from hero to zero as his late own goal gifted Sevilla a record-setting sixth Europa title in a 3-2 defeat last month.

The ex-Manchester United man’s night started perfectly as he opened the scoring with a penalty.
The spot-kick was his 34th goal of the season – equalling the club record set by Ronaldo Nazario 22-years ago.
Yet after Diego Godin pulled Inter level following Luuk de Jong’s headed brace, Lukaku’s joy turned to despair as he diverted Diego Carlos’ wayward bicycle kick into his net.
And the 27-year-old – who refused to collect his runners-up medal – admitted his bitter disappointment forced him into silence.

It was a very difficult moment for me. I didn’t speak for four days after the game
    Romelu Lukaku

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “It was a very difficult moment for me. I didn’t speak for four days after the game but one day I woke up and gave myself a reason.
“In the past season we didn’t win the league by one point, we lost the semifinal of the Coppa Italia because we didn’t score a goal and then the Europa League final finished 3-2.
“These things happen. Only by suffering you improve. Victory is fatigue, it is character, it is an analysis of one’s limits but it is combativeness, it is desire for redemption and success. You can lose, but only to learn how to win.”
Despite his European heartbreak, Lukaku did reveal that he has been enjoying his best football in Italy.

He added: “It is the best country I have ever been to. I love being in Italy. I like the love of the people and the respect.
“I am a person who respects others and when I meet people I like to talk and be with the Italians who welcomed me very well and I am grateful to everyone.
“Even Italian football is a style of football that is good for me, it has made me improve in everything.
“I want to grow and I want to do even more for the team, the coach, the club and above all for the fans.”

Watch classy Jose Mourinho extend press conference to speak to journalist whose late dad idolised Tottenham manager

JOSE MOURINHO extended his pre-match press conference in order to talk to a local journalist whose late dad idolised the Special One

And this offered the opportunity of a lifetime to a local journo, whose dad had worshipped the man dubbed the “Special One”.
Having initially missed out on asking his question to Mourinho, the reporter was delighted when the Spurs boss returned after hearing about his situation.
And with Harry Winks being made to wait in the wings, the reporter got his special moment.
He revealed his late father’s love for Mourinho, before asking if he could have a picture with the ex-Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United boss if Spurs won, to lay at his dad’s place of rest.

But Mourinho immediately told him that he’d make his father’s dream come true, whatever the result.
He said: “Thank you so much.
“The picture has nothing to do with the result. The picture is done, we do it.
“If you can, meet us before the game. Or you can meet us in the hotel, maybe easier. If it is after the game it’s after the game. That is nothing to do with results.

“So my pleasure to do the picture for you and my honour to your father and respect that he felt so strongly.”
While fans will be happy with Mourinho’s gesture off the pitch, they will hope to see some good football on show to boot as Spurs aim to go one step closer to reaching the Europa League group stages.
Dele Alli WILL feature after being left out of Tottenham’s last two matches – although new boys Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale aren’t yet available.

Dele Alli named in Tottenham squad for Europa League qualifier at Shkenjiga as Mourinho warns he must ‘perform’

DELE ALLI is back in Tottenham’s squad for tomorrow’s Europa League qualifier at Shkenjiga.
The midfielder will travel to North Macedonia after Spurs boss Jose Mourinho axed him for last week’s tie at Lokomotiv Plovdiv and Sunday’s Premier League win at Southampton.

Mourinho said: “I always told Dele he will have opportunities.
“It’s no problem at all to have him and like every other player, performances are the most important thing.
“So he is coming with us and the important thing is for him to perform.”

Mourinho would not be drawn on whether Dele will start the match or not.
The manager added: “If he is on the pitch for one minute or 90 minutes, he has to show us what he can do. Pure and simple.”
Dele has been linked with a move away from Spurs, with Paris Saint-Germain keen.
Mourinho said: “There is a tendency now when a player performs or doesn’t perform to give the responsibility to the coach.

“Some because they give him the right love, some because they give him the right stick.
“I always feel 99 per cent of the responsibility is down to the player.”
“Me and the coaches who work with them everyday have one per cent responsibility.”

Welsh side Connah’s Quay let THREE ill stars play in Europa League clash despite Covid-19 outbreak at club, admits boss

WELSH side Connah’s Quay Nomads let unwell players line up in their Europa League qualifier despite a Covid-19 outbreak at club.
Boss Andy Morrison admitted they “turned a blind eye” to THREE players who said they felt ill before the 1-0 loss to Georgian side Dinamo Tblisi.

That is despite FOUR stars already missing the game after positive coronavirus tests, with one more in quarantine.
Former Man City defender Morrison admitted: “Three lads have turned up tonight and they’re not well.
“And it’s like ‘lads I don’t want to hear it. I can’t hear it tonight that you’re ill, please like you know. Let’s just get through it’.
“I’ve been told that before the game and we’ve had to turn a blind eye to it and then you would have never noticed that anyone there tonight wasn’t feeling great.”

Tbilisi progressed through to the third qualifying round thanks to a 97th minute penalty.

And it’s like ‘lads I don’t want to hear it. I can’t hear it tonight that you’re ill’
    Andy Morrison

The match went ahead despite four Nomads players testing positive for Covid-19 beforehand, according to BBC Sport.
The quartet and a fifth player, who has yet to test positive, were forced to self-isolate.
Elsewhere in Europe Tottenham progressed after beating Bulgarian minnows Lokomotiv Plovdiv.

Jose Mourinho’s men needed two late goals to scrape past the second qualifying round.
Spurs were in fact trailing 1-0 with 10 minutes to go, before a Harry Kane penalty and Tanguy Ndombele’s winner four minutes from time put them through.

They dominated possession against but lacked creativity as they failed to make a breakthrough against 11 men.
But Kane smashed home a spot kick to make it 1-1 in the 80th minute.
And Spurs won it when Ndombele fired home a cross from fellow sub Lucas Moura in the 86th minute.
