Watch Man Utd captain Harry Maguire somehow miss from ONE YARD out vs AC Milan leaving Robbie Savage speechless

HARRY MAGUIRE has left fans and pundits speechless after producing a miss of the season contender in Manchester United’s Europa League draw with AC Milan.
The 28-year-old struck the post from just a yard out after getting on the end of a Bruno Fernandes flick-on.

Maguire found himself in an unmarked position at the back-post from an Alex Telles corner in the 38th minute at Old Trafford, but somehow failed to divert the ball into the back of the net.
BT Sport commentator Robbie Savage was left in disbelief, as he remarked: “Wow… he’s hit the post from a yard, that is quite incredible.
“Keeper gets a touch, it’s come off his shin pad! How has he missed?
“I’ve got no idea [how he missed]. A lack of concentration? Did it come off his shin? Did the keeper get a touch?

“Whatever the excuse, he’s got to score.”
Savage’s colleague and former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves simply stated at half-time: “He won’t believe that he missed.”
Taking to social media, one fan quipped: “Harry Maguire doing his best Werner impression.”
Another joked: “Absolutely magnificent goal-line clearance from Harry Maguire for AC Milan. World class.”

A third added: “HARRY MAGUIRE JUST PRODUCED ONE OF THE WORST MISSES YOU’LL EVER SEE.”
Meanwhile one user tweeted: “Harry Maguire has just missed one of the easiest chances one can have. OH MY GOD!!!”
Thankfully for the England international, his blushes were spared as teenage sensation Amad Diallo put United ahead in the Round of 16 first leg in the 50th minute.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side conceded a crucial late goal as Simon Kjaer got the visitors on level terms and gave them an away goals advantage.
Commenting on his miss in the first half, Maguire said: “I should score, I’m not going to make any excuses.
“That’s why I’m a defender, not a forward, but no excuses I’ve got to score.”

How Arsenal could line up against Olympiacos with Emile Smith-Rowe close to return and North London derby on horizon

MIKEL ARTETA has a squad selection dilemma with revenge and North London bragging rights on the line in the same week.
Arsenal travel to Olympiacos on Thursday for the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie.

How Arsenal could line up against Olympiacos

The Greek side last season knocked the Gunners out of the same tournament, with a last-gasp winner.
But the Emirates boss will be mindful in playing his best 11, as they host rivals Tottenham just three days later.
Arteta said: “We have a massive week with the next four games that we have in a short period.
“We have to manage the squad but obviously the main game is tomorrow and we have to focus on that.

“Tomorrow’s game is going to help us for the weekend, it’s going to help us for next week. We have to focus on tomorrow.”
The only doubt for Olympiacos is playmaker Emile Smith-Rowe, who missed Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Burnley last weekend.
Arteta said: “Yes, he’s close to returning and he’s going to have a full session today to see if he can be involved in tomorrow’s game.
“After training we will know exactly where we are with him.”

Bernd Leno can expect to keep his place between the posts, with Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney at full-back.
David Luiz has partnered Pablo Mari for the last three matches, with Gabriel dropped to the bench.
But the Brazilian is fit and available to pair with countryman Luiz if Arteta rotates his backline.
Granit Xhaka has formed a formidable partnership with summer signing Thomas Partey.
But the ex-skipper was at fault at Turf Moor, with Dani Ceballos – who started Arsenal’s last game in Europe – a potential replacement if needed.
Going forward, Willian and Bukayo Saka have both impressed of late, so too has Nicolas Pepe.
All three will be in contention to start in Greece, but also face the prospect of being rested ahead of the derby with Spurs.
Skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has played centrally recently, but could also be shifted out wide if needed.
It would allow striker Alexandre Lacazette to return, while giving others the chance to catch a breather on the bench.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal’s loss to Olympiacos last year ’emotionally drained us’ and he’s out to put it right this time

MIKEL ARTETA admitted defeat to Olympiacos last year ’emotionally drained’ Arsenal – but they are now out to put it right.
The Gunners were knocked out of the Europa League last season on away goals, having won the first leg 1-0, but losing the second 2-1 at the Emirates.

A late Youssef El-Arabi winner, and last-gasp miss from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, made the result all the more painful.
But by chance, Arsenal have an immediate opportunity for revenge, by returning the favour and dumping Olympiacos – who they play on Thursday – out of Europe.
Arteta said: “Obviously it was a really tough one to swallow. The way it happened at the end, it was really cruel.
“After everything we did in the two games, to lose the way we did and with the late chance Auba had.

“But we moved on. We have some feelings towards that team and we want to put it right in the next round.
“Emotionally it really drained us because it was a rollercoaster during the game and with what happened, it could have ended in a beautiful way, but it ended in a really harsh way for us.
“I think emotionally it took some time to get the team and some individuals lifted because it really hurt.”
Arteta is confident his side – who sit tenth in the league – are a better outfit than they were the last time they took on Olympiacos.

CHELTENHAM SPECIAL OFFER – GET THE FIRST RACE FAVOURITE AT HUGE 50/1 PRICE

He said: “I think we are a better team than we were last year.
“Looking back at the two games that we played and the way we are playing now, I think we have come a long way.
“They have some different players as well but a very similar structure to last year.
“They’ve been doing really well, they played in the Champions League, knocked out of the Champions League, they played against City in two really good games as well.
“It will be a really tough opponent.”
