Man Utd player ratings: Wan-Bissaka pick of the bunch with Cavani reaching milestone against Granada in Europa League

MANCHESTER UNITED cruised into the Europa League last four with victory over Granada.Already leading 2-0 from the away leg, Edinson Cavani’s early strike ended any hopes of a huge upset at Old Trafford before a late own goal.
Edinson Cavani scored early on as United cruised past GranadaCredit: Rex
Here how SunSport’s Gary Stonehouse rated each of the United players on display in tonight’s 2-0 win:
    DAVID DE GEA – 6
Little to do but swept up well behind his backline and showed safe hands towards the end on a rare call into action.
Unfortunately for him it seems tonight will have done little to persuade Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to stick with him instead of Dean Henderson for the Premier League clash with Burnley on Sunday.
    AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 8
Dodgy square-ball was cut out by Kenedy but the winger blazed wide as the full-back was let off the hook.
Made up for that with a great recovery to thwart Molina moments after the break.
He continued to make good blocks and frustrate Granada’s attack all night in what was a very assured display.
    AXEL TUANZEBE – 7
Did well at centre-back deputising for Harry Maguire on what was a very comfortable night.
    VICTOR LINDELOF – 6
Allowed Herrera to get in for a free header early on but was rarely troubled after that.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was excellent as the Red Devils enjoyed a comfortable night at Old TraffordCredit: Getty
    ALEX TELLES – 6
Rarely troubled but failed to show enough to dislodge Luke Shaw as No1 left-back.
The left-back did provide the cross for the late own goal.
    NEMANJA MATIC – 6
Steady Eddie as per in the middle on a rare run out from the start.
    FRED – 6
    Typical Fred display.
Nothing headline grabbing but got around the pitch OK and broke up play well.

    PAUL POGBA – 7
Produced a brilliant flick on assist for Cavani’s opener.
Unlucky to be booked for an elbow shortly afterwards but Granada were screaming for a red after another foul later.
Collided knees with ex-Chelsea loanee Kenedy before he was taken off at half time.
    BRUNO FERNANDES – 7
Came within inches of a spectacular goal just after the half hour mark following Matic’s lofted ball behind the defence before blazing wide before the break.
Was in cruise control for most of it before he was taken off late on.
    EDINSON CAVANI – 8
It took just over five minutes for him to break the deadlock and end any hopes of a comeback.
His volley was his first European goal for the club and took him to a career milestone of 50.
Failed to divert a cross to Fernandes in the second half after another great run – showcasing his incredible movement again.
A quiet night by his high standards, but any aspiring striker could not fail to learn a thing or to by re-watching his performance.
    MASON GREENWOOD – 7
First sight of goal came just before the break but he fired high and wide then squandered a free header from ten yards after the restart.
In a match severely lacking a tempo, his direct surges forward caused some brief moments of excitement.
Donny van de Beek came on at half time in place of Paul PogbaCredit: AFP
    SUBS
DONNY VAN DE BEEK (ON 46 MINS) – 7
Replaced Pogba at the break and almost instantly set-up Greenwood for a chance the forward should have done better from.
Was teed-up perfectly by Greenwood but pulled his 20-yard drive around six inches wide.
With the tie effectively already over, the Dutchman was unable to show why he should be in the starting XI but did create a few opportunities to ramp up his score a notch.
DAN JAMES (ON 60 MINS)- 5
Came on down the wing but failed to make an impression.
    JUAN MATA (ON 73 MINS) – 5
Took the armband from Fernandes after replacing him but had little opportunity to make any impact.
    AMAD (ON 82 MINS) – N/A
    WILLIAMS (ON 82 MINS) – N/A

Arsenal ratings: Saka sparks Gunners with livewire performance while Lacazette brings fear factor back to the attack

ARSENAL dusted off the cobwebs to blow away Slavia Prague and book their place in the Europa League semis.Alexandre Lacazette led the way with two goals in the Czech capital, with Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe also on the score sheet for a 4-0 win on the night.

Arsenal’s 5-1 aggregate victory means they will face old boss Unai Emery and Villarreal for a place in this year’s final.
But who was the top Gunner for Mikel Arteta tonight? Here, SunSport’s Anthony Chapman deliver his Arsenal player ratings…
    BERND LENO – 7
Didn’t have an awful lot to do with Slavia failing to create opportunities.
But there was none of the usual nervousness when Leno did touch the ball as he radiated confidence between the sticks.
    CALUM CHAMBERS – 8
Was both a commanding presence and a serious threat going forward.
Proved his worth driving into space before picking out Saka with a great pass as the winger went on to score.

    ROB HOLDING – 7
Must surely be Arsenal’s No1 centre-back as he led from the back.
He organised his backline well and made sure the ball was cleared well to safety any time it came into Arsenal’s penalty area.
    PABLO MARI – 7
This may have been his first European knockout game but the Spaniard was well suited to the big stage.
He barely gave the Slavia forwards a sniff and showed good composure on the ball throughout.
    GRANIT XHAKA – 8
Makeshift left-back tonight but looked like he played there his entire career.
A true technician at work, Xhaka’s passes were clean and tidy as he also locked down any attacking threat from Slavia’s right flank.
Granit Xhaka looked at home as a makeshift left-backCredit: Reuters
    THOMAS PARTEY – 7
Brought an imposing presence to midfield and showed why Arsenal splashed the cash on him last year.
Was here, there and everywhere in a bid to support both his defenders and attackers.
    DANI CEBALLOS – 7
Always looked to push up the pitch but provided steel in deeper areas when required.
Could be relied upon to drag the ball out of close quarters and set Arsenal’s flying forwards on their way.
    BUKAYO SAKA – 9
Has gained a reputation as a livewire and lived up to that with another electric performance as he won the penalty to make 2-0.
Saka then smashed in a gorgeous long-ranger for 3-0 after some great link-up play with Chambers.
Bukayo Saka was a non-stop threat for Arsenal going forwardCredit: EPA
    EMILE SMITH ROWE – 9
Showed good awareness to pounce on Saka’s shot – which hit the post – to fire Arsenal ahead after 14 minutes before the goal was ruled out by VAR.
Bounced back immediately to tee up Pepe moments later.
    NICOLAS PEPE – 8
Tricky and physical, Pepe gave Arsenal the lead proper by showing some clever feet in the Slavia box before firing home.
Driving in from the left, on his left foot, put Slavia’s defenders on the back foot immediately and helped create space in the box for others.
    ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE – 9
Cool and composed leading the line, he constantly dropped deep and fired Arsenal 2-0 up with a cheeky penalty in the 20th minute before a clinical finish for a second goal later on.
Always available for a one-two and has brought back the fear factor to the team’s striker position.
Emile Smith Rowe had a great game linking up with his fellow forwardsCredit: Reuters
    SUBS
MO ELNENY (for Smith Rowe, 66’) – 6
Off bench to shore things up in midfield and helped take further sting out of Slavia’s flat attacks.
    GABRIEL MARTINELLI ( for Saka, 78’) – N/A
    EDDIE NKETIAH (for Lacazette, 78’) – N/A
    CEDRIC (for Partey, 78’) – N/A

Slavia Prague keeper Ondrej Kolar suffers painful shoulder injury in training ahead of Europa League clash vs Arsenal

SLAVIA PRAGUE goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar appeared to suffered another serious injury – just a week after returning from a fractured skull. The Czech Republic international and his team-mates were preparing to face Arsenal in the Europa League quarter-finals.

But the 26-year-old, who was already wearing a helmet with strapping, appeared to damage shoulder as the Slavia squad trained on Wednesday.
The keeper’s initial lay-off came after he received a brutal kick to the face from Rangers star Kemar Roofe in an earlier round of the competition.
Now, just days after Kolar returned to the pitch, he hurt himself again while attempting to make a save from Nicolae Stanciu on Wednesday.
The Romanian star consoled the stopper before Slavia’s physio raced over to give him medical attention before he left the session.
Kolar looked to be in agony as he struggled to lift his arm up, which cast huge doubts on whether he will miss the last-eight second-leg with Arsenal, with the score tied at 1-1.
Kolar sustained horrific injuries at Ibrox last month when Roofe’s boot connected with his head during a challenge for the ball.
The Rangers ace was sent off and handed a four-game ban, with Kolar now having to wear a protective helmet for the rest of his career.
Speaking about the incident this week, the keeper revealed the Gers still still had not apologised for the incident.
He said: “I read what he said. He said he was first to the ball, but he didn’t add that he kicked it out of my hand, collided with my leg and hit me on the head.
“He saw me the whole time. Anyone who has ever kicked a ball knows that the foot can always be pulled down. It’s a game of football, it shouldn’t be about my health.

“If I ever met him again I’d say nothing. I’d wait for him to see if he apologised and asked about my health.
“I waited for Roofe to write me a message on Instagram for example. Instead, I read hate messages from Rangers fans, ‘he should have kicked your head in’…’he should have broken your spine.’
“I know things aren’t good between Slavia and Rangers right now, but that?
‘” was disappointed that Roofe did not apologise through the media. I’m not vindictive, I don’t need him to give me something back, but he should think more because maybe the next time, he could ruin someone’s life.”
