Europa League final tickets: Are Man Utd and Arsenal fans allowed to attend, and where is match being held?

THIS season’s Europa League has reached the semi-final stage – and we could be set for an all-Premier League final.Manchester United and Arsenal are still in the competition, taking on Roma and Villarreal over two legs for a place in the showdown.

But with Covid restrictions still in force across much of Europe, will fans be able to attend the final if either make it?
When is the Europa League final?

This season’s final will be held on Wednesday, May 26.
The kick-off time is yet to be announced, but is expected to be 8pm BST.

Where is the match being held?
The Gdansk Stadium in Poland will host the showpiece.
It has an official capacity of 41,000 and is home to Polish side Lechia Gdansk.
Last year’s final was due to be held at the venue, but was moved due to the pandemic.

Will fans be able to attend?
UEFA and Polish authorities are working together in the hope of welcoming up to 10,000 fans to the stadium on May 26.
That would represent a quarter of capacity in the Gdansk Arena.
Currently, the earliest possible date for foreign travel to resume for people in the UK is after May 17.
But even if the current steps on the roadmap are met, the next stumbling block could be the government’s ‘traffic light’ system for entering certain countries.
Countries will be designated a colour of either red, amber or green, which will determine quarantine requirements on return to the UK.

According to Sky Sports, each team could be allocated 1,900 tickets for the match.
There are also reports that clubs could organise bubble packages for their fanbase, which would include flights, tickets and then buses to and from the airport.
Uefa appear keen to make sure that tickets will be available and fans return to the terraces for their biggest two matches of the season.

A statement on Uefa’s website reads: “The UEFA Europa League™ Final 2021 will take place in Gdańsk, Poland in the Gdańsk Stadium on Wednesday, 26 May 2021.
“Information about the ticket sales for this match (availability of tickets, application deadline, ticket prices, etc.) should be communicated early May 2021.
“More details will follow in due course.” More

What happens if Chelsea finish fifth and win Champions League and Arsenal win Europa League? Will West Ham miss out?

CHELSEA and Manchester city will meet in Istanbul on May 29 in the third all-English Champions League Final. And Arsenal could face Manchester United in the Europa League final, should both sides qualify from the final four.

CASINO SIGN UP OFFER: CLAIM UP TO £800 IN CASINO BONUS CASH
But what does it all mean for European qualification for next season? SunSport explains:
How many Champions League and Europa League places do the Premier League get?
England has seven places, with the top four in the Prem qualifying for the Champions League.
Fifth in the table and the FA Cup winners go into the Europa League. And from this season onwards, the Carabao Cup winners go into the new Europa Conference League.
But Manchester City won the Carabao Cup. So now what happens?
That means the team finishing sixth take the Conference League spot, with a place in the final play-off round at the end of August.
Hang on – but Leicester and Chelsea are also playing in the FA Cup Final. How does that impact things?
Assuming both of them finish in the top six – likely but not yet confirmed – it means sixth takes a Europa League place and SEVENTH in the table means the Conference League.
Right. I think. But could things change again?
Yes – but that depends on the outcomes of the two European competitions.
Under Uefa rules, the Champions League and Europa League winners automatically qualify for the Champions League.
But Uefa also caps at a maximum of five the number of teams from ANY country in the Champions League and a total of seven teams in all competitions.

    Go on…what are you saying?
Well, if Chelsea win the Champions League and finish fourth, nothing happens. But if they finish fifth, they would join the top four in next season’s competition.
Teams in sixth and seventh would then BOTH be in the Europa League.
What is the nightmare scenario for West Ham or Liverpool?
No. Because if Chelsea finish fifth and win the Champions League AND Arsenal were to win the Europa League, that would be SIX teams qualified, one more than is allowed.
    And…Arsenal miss out, yes?
No. Arsenal would be in the Champions League – but the team finishing FOURTH in the Prem would go into the Europa League, along with the team in fifth.
That would also allow England an extra place, with the team finishing sixth going into the new Conference League and no European place for the team in seventh.

    Why is it so complicated?
Chelsea finishing in the top four and Manchester United winning the Europa League would make it easier.
Then fifth and sixth are in the Europa and seventh in the Conference. More

How Man Utd could line-up at Roma in Europa League with David De Gea and Eric Bailly returning and attacking changes

MANCHESTER UNITED travel to Roma for the second-leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to welcome David De Gea and Eric Bailly back into the side.
How Man Utd could line up against Roma
The Red Devils lead 6-2 after the first-leg at Old Trafford.
Goals from Bruno Fernandes (2), Edinson Cavani (2), Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood gave United the emphatic win over the Italian side.
And even with their two away goals from Lorenzo Pellegrini and Edin Dzeko, Roma still have to win by four clear goals – providing United score less than two – to progress to the final.
United are rested going into the game after fan protests saw their scheduled Premier League game against Liverpool on Sunday cancelled.
Which means Solskjaer will feel more confident naming his strongest XI to make sure they reach the final.
De Gea has been the Europa League goalkeeper of late and will likely replace Dean Henderson in the sticks.
Bailly is available for selection again having recovered from coronavirus and could slot in at centre-back to give either Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof a break.
Greenwood and Cavani were named on the bench for the Liverpool game that never was – suggesting their boss was resting them to start Thursday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could ring the changes after his side’s emphatic first-leg win

Although Solskjaer is not likely to take any risks with his selection, he may decide it is a good opportunity to give fringe players some game time given his side’s huge lead.
That could see Juan Mata, Dan James and Donny van de Beek slotting into midfield with Fred and Nemanja Matic.
Alex Telles could also replace Luke Shaw at left-back with the big guns on the bench and available to call upon if needed.

Man Utd get police escort to airport ahead of flight to Italy for Roma Europa League clash after security breaches

MANCHESTER UNITED received a police escort to the airport as they flew out to Italy for their Europa League semi-final second leg against Roma. The Red Devils were afforded the extra safety measures just days after fans stormed Old Trafford in protest against the Glazers causing Sunday’s Premier League match against Liverpool to be postponed.

A police van was seen trailing the team bus as it headed for Manchester airport.
It comes after raging fans blocked the squad from leaving their city centre Lowry Hotel on the weekend as they tried to get their point across with players only leaving with a police escort at around 7.15pm.
Around 200 made it onto the turf at the Theatre of Dreams with a police officer being slashed in the face with a bottle thrown by a protester, flares being let off and footage of vandalism spreading online.
Cops confirmed two officers were left injured as violent clashes marred the largely peaceful protests outside the stadium.
An estimated 10,000 gathered en masse outside Old Trafford to protest against the club’s American owners the Glazers in the wake of the failed European Super League.
Protestors have caused a number of high-profile security breaches with a group also making their way into Carrington on April 22.
The recent unrest has followed widespread outrage caused by the money-grabbing closed-shop Super League idea.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to calm down furious fans at the club’s training complex after supporters blocked the entrance armed with a banner which read ‘We decide when you play’.
Around 20 men bypassed security and made their way to the first team training pitch where they unveiled banners which read ‘Glazers out’ and ’51 % MUFC 20′ which refers to the German-style ownership of clubs which gives fans a stake in their club.

Discontent has been triggered by the Super League debacle with co-chairman Joel Glazer quoted in the breakaway league’s original press release but fans have always had a strained relationship with the club’s owners since the 2005 takeover.
Fans could protest again with reports they are planning further attacks with more demonstrations scheduled for the home game against Leicester on May 12 as well as potentially the rearranged Liverpool fixture.
An open letter to Joel Glazer was published by The Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) which accused him and his family of ‘driving United into debt and decline’ as they demanded a greater say in decisions.
They also urged him to reply to them by Friday.
United face Roma in the Italian capital on Thursday with a hefty four-goal advantage following the 6-2 thrashing at Old Trafford last week.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is finally set to end his semi-final hoodoo after losing FOUR on the bounce, including to Sevilla in the same competition last season.

How Man Utd and Arsenal fans could attend Europa League final with travel bubble and flight home with Covid-19 tests

MANCHESTER UNITED and Arsenal fans are hoping to be able to attend the Europa League final in Poland later this month – if they both qualify of course.Gdansk is gearing up to host the showpiece final on May 26 with up to 10,000 supporters at the 41,000-seat arena.

That includes an allocation of up to 2,000 for each team that reaches the final.
Manchester United are four goals up on Roma from the first leg while Arsenal must overcome a 2-1 first-leg deficit against Villarreal.
It is thought Arsenal are proposing a single travel option for their potential date in Poland – a flight package run by the club.
That tightly-controlled measure, to combat the risk of Covid-19, would reportedly be followed by a coach from the airport to the ground.
And there would be no travelling around the large Baltic coast city of Gdansk itself.
Tickets are already available to buy through Uefa for up to £113, with the cheapest around £35.
But fans – who can apply for a maximum of two each – will be gambling on border restrictions between the UK and Poland being lifted over the next three weeks.
Current Government advice suggests no ‘non-essential’ travel to Poland should be made.

However, flights are still running between the two countries.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed some foreign travel could be allowed from May 17 – the next phase of the lockdown roadmap.
Johnson claimed the Government would ‘be saying more as soon as we can’ but ‘we have got to be very, very tough’.
As things stand, visitors to Poland face quarantine requirements and must have had a negative Covid test within 48 hours of their arrival in the country.

But for now the situation is fluid and could change in the coming weeks.
Uefa warned: “Supporters from abroad will have to comply with border entry restrictions and requirements that will be in force at the time of the final as no exemptions will be granted to ticket holders.
“Access to the stadium will be granted in line with the applicable local legislation, which is to be confirmed by the local authorities during this week and may include the need for proof of a vaccine or a negative Covid-19 test result.”

How Arsenal could line up against Villarreal in Europa League semi-final with Kieran Tierney and Alex Lacazette doubts

MIKEL ARTETA will pick his most important team of the season when Arsenal face Villarreal on Thursday.A 2-1 first-leg deficit in the Europa League semi-final tie leaves the onus on the Gunners to spark a comeback in North London.
How we expect Arsenal to line up on Thursday
Mikel Arteta is hoping to have Kieran Tierney back from injuryCredit: Getty
Far from a straightforward scenario, the Spaniard is left sweating over the fitness of three key players with a number of other stars out of form.
Alexandre Lacazette is fighting to return from a hamstring injury while Kieran Tierney battles a knee problem.
Arteta will make his decision after a training session on Wednesday afternoon with David Luiz another doubt.
There were fears the centre-back, 34, would miss the rest of the season when pulling up with a hamstring issue during the win over Newcastle.
But Arteta insisted: “He was feeling better yesterday. Let’s see how he is today.
“We don’t know the extent of the injury yet.

How Arteta may set up if Tierney, David Luiz and Alexandre Lacazette are fit
“With David it’s always possible because he wants to be available.
“He’s made an incredible effort to be in the position that he’s in today and the fact that he played against Newcastle was already a big bonus. He had surgery on his knee so with David, you never know.”
The Gunners boss, 39, was equally non-committal on the return of Tierney, who he hoped to have back for the first leg a week ago.
One player who will definitely miss the second leg is Dani Ceballos following his red card in Spain.
Mohamed Elneny is set to step into the midfield alongside Thomas Partey on Thursday night.
The Ghanaian, along with Calum Chambers, Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe and Pablo Mari all started the trip to Newcastle on the bench to keep them fresh.

Gabriel Martinelli started the 2-0 win and Arteta may choose to stick with the Brazilian, Gabriel Magalhaes or Mat Ryan.
The coach said: “We have to embrace the challenge and the opportunity we have ahead.
“I think it’s the tenth time that the club has been in a European semi-final, so it doesn’t happen very often. We have to take the opportunity tomorrow and earn the right to be in the final.”
