    Big games keep on coming
United go into the international break with a rest week after their game this weekend with Leeds Utd having been postponed.
The games come thick and fast after the break with a Manchester derby first up for Erik ten Hag’s side.
A trip to the Etihad Stadium to face Erling Haaland awaits.
All eyes on trip to Spain
With the importance of finishing top of your group greater than ever this season in the Europa League, United know they still have to chase down Real Sociedad.
Following their 1-0 win at Old Trafford, the Spanish outfit beat Omonia Nicosia 2-1 this evening to sit top of the group with six points.
If both sides win all their other games, this could lead to a showdown game at the Reale Arena in Basque country.
    Back to winning ways
After defeat in their opening Europa League group game, Erik ten Hag’s side have managed to right some wrongs tonight.
Making the long trip to Moldova something to enjoy for their travelling fans.

Goals not a problem in Europe
Man Utd make it their sixteenth game away from home in Europe in a row that they have scored in.
The first goal is always all so important irrelevant to the opposition you face and this could have been a much trickier game if they had let the hosts get their tails up early on.
Given the wealth of quality within the squad, you would have to point to United as one of the favourites to win this season’s Europa League.
With a Champions League spot for the team who take the trophy home, no side can look down their nose at adding this trophy to their cabinet anymore.
Are you watching St George’s Park?
Jadon Sancho will feel that he let his feet do the talking this evening after his being dropped from the latest England squad.
The £72.9m signing scored the first goal with what was literally his first sniff of goal of the game.
He will feel disappointed that he was denied a second goal after his shot had the keeper beaten before the defender cleared it off the line.

    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    86. Antony looks to stretch his legs down the right.
Cutting inside looking to make something happen.
Greeted with a cluster of black shirts he opts to pass the ball backwards to retain possession.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    84. Such is the difference in class between these two sides, at times this can look like an exhibition match.
Sheriff are having to trying to thread balls through that United are cutting out all too easily.
Elanga is looking lively since his introduction.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    82. Anthony Elanga comes on for Cristiano Ronaldo.

    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    80. If United can hold on to this win, it will be their third successive win on the road.
A step in the right direction from earlier in the season.
They haven’t last done so since November 2020.

    78. Fernandes plays a great ball into space for Luke Shaw.
Sprinting down the touchline, he has a great chance to cross.

    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    76. Sheriff seem to have got a second wind.
The full backs are streaming forward when they have possession.
Looking to get in behind the visitors full backs.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    74. Ronaldo looks to link with Antony and slot the Brazilian in.
Not enough on the pass to find his team mate however.
Good signs for United with the two linking up in the final third.
de Gea has his first save of the second half to make.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    72. The United fans make themselves heard again.
This spurs the home faithful into attempting to drown them out.
While United are looking comfortable, a goal for the home side would really change the whole complexion of this game.

    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    70. Diogo Dalot leaves the game, replaced by Luke Shaw.
Antony goes to ground as he looks to nutmeg his opponent.
Still a very patient build up from the Red Devils.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    68. Casemiro really adds composure to this United midfield.
Skipping past players in small spaces with a drop of the shoulder or quick turn.
The ball is squared back to Ronaldo on the edge of the box but he cannot find that top corner with his shot.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    66. Here’s a fun drinking game, you down your drink whenever Robbie Savage mentions his son during commentary of a United game.
Be warned, this is not something to be taken on if you have work tomorrow.
Sheriff are still trying to carve out some sort of opening.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    64. Antony chases down a lost cause and backheels the ball to stop it going out of play.
It does seem the rest of the team are not quite on his wavelength just yet.
    That will come with time.
    United win another corner.
Eriksen is struggling to find white shirts with his corners this evening.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    62. Fernandes lets the officials know what he thinks of them.
United are awarded a corner which Eriksen comes over to take.
The Dane struggles to beat the man at the near post and the ball is cleared.

Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd – Rasheed chance!
    60. The ball breaks to the Sheriff forward outside of the box.
With a bit of space with defenders standing off him he spots de Gea off his line.
Trying a cheeky chip, the Spanish keeper has it covered as it lands on the roof of the net.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    58. Since the introduction of Casemiro, Sheriff are struggling with this quick counter attacks.
The home side are chasing shadows now.
United really do need another goal to kill the hosts off.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    56. Casemiro does well to prevent a Sheriff counter.
It seems that is his job for this second half, to ensure that they do not allow the hosts to make a game of this.
United are knocking on the door without really threatening the Sheriff goal in this second half.
    Sheriff 0-2 Man Utd
    54. The home fans have gone quiet now.
Struggling to find something to get to the edge of their seats for.

He has fired a blank in the only two games he has started, against Brentford and Real Sociedad, while he has also failed to have an impact when coming off the bench.

He eventually stayed put but has been out of favour under new manager Ten Hag.

He has come off the bench in the other five but did play the full match as United lost to Real Sociedad at Old Trafford in their opening Europa League match last week.
It means the talismanic goalscorer is yet to get on the scoresheet in seven matches so far this season.
But he will surely fancy his chances against Moldovan side FC Sheriff on Thursday.
Last term’s top scorer is expected to start in Chisinau with Casemiro, Harry Maguire and Antony also likely to be involved from the outset.
However, there will definitely be no Rashford, Donny van de Beek or Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the trio were not part of the open training session and did not travel with the rest of the squad.

Thursday’s European game is sandwiched between two postponed Premier League fixtures.
United’s away game against Crystal Palace, which was meant to take place last weekend, was postponed out of respect for Queen Elizabeth II, who sadly passed away last Thursday aged 96.
And Old Trafford won’t be filled to the rafters this weekend either when United were supposed to welcome rivals Leeds.

That game has also been postponed as Greater Manchester Police are deploying their officers at locations and events of “high significance”, with The Queen’s funeral taking place on Monday, September 19.
United are “supportive of the decision” as the “safety and security of our fans is paramount”.

Arsenal vs Man City POSTPONED as Gunners avoid forfeiting Europa League clash against PSV but face fixture pile up

ARSENAL’S clash with Manchester City scheduled for October 19 has been postponed to create a date for the Gunners to play their Europa League tie against PSV Eindhoven. The European match was initially scheduled for tomorrow night but was postponed due to a lack of police resources ahead of the Queen’s state funeral next Monday.

Uefa rules dictated that the Gunners had to find a new date to fulfil the fixture before the World Cup or forfeit the game.
Arsenal chiefs remained confident that it would not come to that, and have managed to squeeze the match in on October 20 by having their previously scheduled fixture against City called off.
The postponement avoids a problem with Uefa but is set to create even more fixture congestion further down the line.
Arsenal’s only other option would have been to move their League Cup clash with Brighton, currently scheduled for November 8.

Their clash with PSV will now be slotted between a trip to Leeds on October 16 and a game against Southampton’s at St Mary’s on October 23.
Arsenal staged a minute’s silence at half-time of their clash against FC Zurich last week, when the news of Her Majesty’s passing aged 96 was announced.
Their subsequent fixture against Everton scheduled for last weekend was postponed, as British football came to a standstill.
Three more Prem games have been called off this weekend, but Arsenal’s trip to Brentford on Sunday WILL go ahead.

They now have to find an alternative date or face forfeiting the game – and with the World Cup looming they are running out of options.
City boss Pep Guardiola revealed there is some doubt over whether the trip to the Emirates – scheduled for Wednesday, October 19 – will go ahead.
Asked about a possible fixture pile-up due to last weekend’s games being postponed, Guardiola said: “Always the fixtures were so tight every season.
“Now it’s different because we stop – not the players but the backroom staff are going to stop and have a break in winter time like how it normally is in Germany – and afterwards we’ll see how they come back.

“After the international break, we’ll have a one month and half with a lot of games.
“We have seven Premier League games, five games at home, it depends if the Arsenal game will be postponed or not.
“Then the World Cup. And after we’ll see how the players come back from the World Cup, especially their moods – good moods, bad moods, after what happened with their international teams.
“After that, in the last three or four months of competition, we do all we can to be there at the end.”

Another possibility could be for Arsenal to move their Carabao Cup third round tie with Brighton – due to be played on November 8 – until after the World Cup.
However the draw for the knock-out stages of the Europa League is due to take place the day before that – so Uefa would want all group games to be completed before then.
Arsenal are currently top of the table while champions City are just a point behind after the first six games of the season. More
