NO manager in the world will really care about how many touches their centre-forward has, writes Jurgen Klinsmann.
It’s being widely flagged up that Harry Kane has not seen much of the ball in England’s first two matches but this is not, in itself, going to be a concern for Gareth Southgate.
It’s a nice thing for the stats fanatics to go on about — and there are obviously more and more of them in and around football.
But not all statistics are helpful and this one doesn’t mean a great deal.
Harry has scored one goal, and so nearly two, in two games. It’s not as if he hasn’t been involved at all.
Everybody in England needs to calm down a little about the captain.
Some are even suggesting that he should be dropped or rested for tomorrow’s final group game against Slovenia — but that is totally absurd.
Please stop worrying. He will come good. He always does.

Maybe he needs to get back to concentrating on his football. “His form this year has gone to pieces. I’m not sure he’s Gareth Southgate’s cup of tea.”But Grealish is clearly desperate to prove his worth and fight for his place in the City team.Speaking after securing a third Premier League title, he said: “I don’t feel like I’ve performed well this season at all.”Pep’s an unbelievable guy.”I’ve had times where I’ve struggled off the pitch, you know, I’ll openly say that and he’s been there for me so much, I can only thank him.”He’s a brilliant manager on the pitch but when I’ve been in his office he’s helped me.”Guardiola, meanwhile, is confident he can get the best out of Grealish once again. He said: “Jack will be back.READ MORE SUN STORIES”He’s struggled this season and Jeremy Doku has made an incredible step forward as everyone has seen in the last games.”But Jack will be back at the level of last season, I’m pretty sure.”Grealish is desperate to impress Pep GuardiolaCredit: ReutersMan City’s five key moments this seasonA look at the five key moments in Man City’s title winning campaign…

The hosts haven’t won a knockout game in eight years and the pressure is on for them to get it right in front of their home crowd.
    MANAGER: Julian Nagelsmann
Bright, young and a bit of a maverick. The ex-Bayern Munich boss is known for his flashy outfits and arriving for training on a skateboard.
    STAR MAN: Jamal Musiala
The 21-year-old former Chelsea star could have been playing for England and can make things happen out of nothing.
    How Germany attack
Toni Kroos will typically drop deep to take the ball off the defence with the Germans then overloading the side of the pitch the ball is on.
That gives them the option of either passing through the congested area or attacking the other side with a crossfield ball to the man in space.
    How Germany defend
Germany’s striker and the team’s five midfielders will form a diamond shape in the hope of preventing the opposition playing through the middle.
Should opponents then play the ball wide, the German full-backs will be expected to press high up the pitch in an attempt to win possession.

They’ll always be at tournaments and always go out in the last 16 – with the exception of Euro 2020 when they stunned France to win on penalties and reach the quarter-finals.
    MANAGER: Murat Yakin
Former Basel coach who had a brush with Jose Mourinho in 2013, beating Chelsea in the Champions League.
    STAR MAN: Granit Xhaka
The Swiss captain makes everything tick and is coming off the best season of his career, winning the double at Bayer Leverkusen.
    How Switzerland attack
Switzerland are comfortable playing out from the back and can launch quick attacking moves with a pass from defence.
They will then quickly get the ball wide or to the strikers’ feet before pushing multiple players forward to occupy space.
    How Switzerland defend
Switzerland are versatile in the way they defend and comfortable hanging back in a low block.
But at times they will completely change their approach to press high and catch the opposition off-guard.

THE BBC apologised for showing a replay of Barnabas Varga’s shocking injury during Scotland’s defeat to Hungary.
The striker was rushed to hospital following a clash with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
He received lengthy medical treatment on the pitch as the BBC attempted to avoid showing a replay of the incident.
Uefa decided to show a replay of the incident so the BBC cut away to a wide angle out of respect for the stricken player.
BBC presenter Gabby Logan explained Uefa broke their own protocol by showing the replay.
She said live on air: “We were as shocked as you when they replayed that incident.
“There are protocols around this kind of thing after Christian Eriksen three years ago and we were very surprised that Uefa decided to show that replay, which is why we cut away immediately to a wide angle as soon as we could.”

BARBABAS VARGA has enjoyed a meteoric rise from semi-pro leagues of Austria and Hungary to the Euro 2024 finals.
The Hungary striker played for six seasons, between 2010 and 2016 for SV Eberau in the Bergenlandliga – the regional fourth tier of Austrian football.
A record of over a goal every other game earned Varga a shot at the big time with with SV Mattersburg in the Austrian Bundesliga.
However, he scored only once in just 16 games over the next three seasons before dropping down to the second tier with SV Lafnitz.
After a mixed spell, Varga’s next step was to his homeland, again in the second tier, with Gyirnot in 2020.
That’s where it began to click for Varga and his eye for goal saw top division Paksi FC swoop.
Varga scored almost a goal a game in his first season with Paksi, finishing as the top scorer in the Hungarian league.
That earned the late bloomer an international debut, at the age of 28, in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Bulgaria.
One his third cap, away to Serbia, he netted his first Hungary goal.
Last summer, Varga joined Hungarian giants Ferencvaros and again got the golden boot as his side won the league, the first silverware of his career.

As the game restarted, clips on social media soon showed Varga leaving the stadium in an ambulance, with reports suggesting he was thankfully conscious and communicating with paramedics. The BBC confirmed after full-time, with Hungary netting a dramatic 100th-minute winner to give themselves hope of remaining in the tournament, that Varga was in stable condition at a Stuttgart hospital. And head coach Marco Rossi revealed in his post-match interview that Varga will undergo surgery after suffering a fracture to his face. The striker, who plays for Ferencvaros in his homeland, will be ruled out of the rest of Euro 2024.Rossi said: “Barnabas Varga’s life is not in danger.”He will undergo an operation after fracture in his face and he won’t be available for the rest of Euro 2024.”Former Scotland international Pat Nevin insisted keeper Gunn had every right to go for the ball. He told BBC 5 Live: “We have seen it before if a keeper comes out and he doesn’t get the ball but takes a player it is a foul. “I actually think Angus Gunn got some of the ball there.”Asked about the incident after the game, Gunn said:  “That was a bit of a blur.”I had to come and I thought I done well, it was a bit painful, hopefully, the guy is alright.”Hungary striker Barnabas Varga was treated on the fieldBarnabas Varga was leading the line for HungaryCredit: GettyDominik Szoboszlai helps bring the stretcher onto the fieldCredit: GettyFans looked extremely concerned after seeing the incidentHungary scored via Kevin Csoboth in the 100th minute after a lightning counter to send Scotland tumbling out of the Euros. They celebrated by holding up Varga’s shirt in tribute, but now face an anxious wait to find out if three points will be enough to see them go through as one of the best third-placed teams.Scotland pushed hard in the extended spell of added time at end of 90 minutes and could have had the ball in the net via a goalmouth scramble before being caught out late on.He will undergo an operation after fracture in his face and he won’t be available for the rest of Euro 2024.Marco RossiGunn added: “It’s hard to speak to be honest. Here’s how SunSport’s Tom Barclay rated the Three Lions team.
    Jordan Pickford: 6
Looked a little jittery early doors, though there was nothing he could do about Morten Hjulmand’s corker and he made a decent parry after the break.
    Kyle Walker: 7
Made England’s opener by racing round a sleeping Victor Kristiansen – he’ll be having nightmares of that forevermore – and teeing up Kane via a deflected cross.
    John Stones: 6
OK but you have got to wonder how fit he feels having barely played for Man City in the second half of the season, plus his injury and illness issues over the last month.
Marc Guehi: 8 and my star man
Really encouraging again from the Crystal Palace centre-back, looking sharp with his interceptions and assured in distribution.
    Kieran Trippier: 6
Like Stones, he was fine, but England really need Luke Shaw back ASAP because having no natural left-footer at left-back is a problem.
    Trent Alexander-Arnold: 5
This experiment of playing Trent in midfield is far from convincing, especially when his passing was off it like it was here, barring one good ball to Saka. Subbed on 54 minutes.
    Declan Rice: 5
Had to cover so much ground as England dropped worryingly deep in the first half and also lost it a few times in front of his back four.
    Bukayo Saka: 7
Not quite as electric as his first half against Serbia, but another solid showing from our right winger who has been our most consistent attacker across the two games.
    Jude Bellingham: 6
Nowhere near the majestic display he put in against Serbia and one of many who looked tired.
    Phil Foden: 7
Was far more involved than against Serbia – although that was not hard – and had a few dangerous efforts from range, including one that smacked the post after the break.
    Harry Kane: 6
Netted his 64th goal for his country with an opener he could not really miss, but then gave the ball away from Denmark’s leveller. Surprisingly subbed.
    SUBS:
Conor Gallagher (on for Trent, 54): 7
Vital clearance on the stretch when Christian Eriksen was lurking and was not afraid to put his foot in.
Ollie Watkins (on for Kane, 70): 6
Played in by Bellingham’s lovely ball after coming on but could not finish from an acute angle.
Jarrod Bowen (on for Foden, 69): 6
Copped a nasty tackle which saw Joakim Maehle booked.
Eberechi Eze (on for Saka, 69): 6
On for his tournament bow though he was rarely involved.

“That’s why I really do not get bothered about it at all.“Look, they’re entitled to their opinion, they’re on the TV. They’re saying whatever they want.READ MORE SUN STORIES“I know some of them personally, they’re great guys, but like I said, they’ve been in our shoes as well.“Sometimes just to have that thought of process, just before they speak that they have been where I’m sat and where our other players have sat and not done well at tournaments.” More
