And next up it’s Ukraine in the Italian capital after Andriy Shevchenko’s men beat Sweden in extra time.
But will England fans be allowed to join the team in Rome for the quarter-final?
Can England fans travel to Rome for the quarter-final?
England fans are allowed to enter Italy, but they won’t be able to watch the game.
That’s because anybody who arrives from the UK to the country, or has been in the UK for the past 14 days, will be ordered to self-isolate for five days.
To get into Italy, you need to take a rapid test in the 48 hours before travelling and a further rapid test after five days to end your self-isolation.
And reports suggest Italian police will intensify checks on motorways and at the country’s borders to stop England fans travelling to the game.
BREAKING. Italian authorities are reportedly working on intensifying checks at the border and motorways to prevent English fans from going to Italy this Saturday to follow the match against Ukraine.#Euro2020— Antonello Guerrera (@antoguerrera) June 30, 2021

Can any England fans go to Rome for the game?
England fans in Italy will be able to attend the match, as well as those travelling from the EU or Schengen area.
Fans travelling from Canada, Japan or the United States are not bound by the same rules as the UK and will be allowed to enter Italy.

How do I get tickets for England vs Ukraine?
No tickets are currently showing on the Uefa website for fans logging in from the UK.
Should they be released, they will cost £64, £124 and £159.
And the England Supporters Travel Club have confirmed that tickets WON’T be sold by the FA.
But there is work going on behind the scenes for English nationals living in Italy to attend.

Do England fans have to quarantine on return?
Yes. Italy is on the UK amber list, so if you do manage to get to Rome and see the game you will still be required to quarantine at home on arrival back in the UK.
This quarantine lasts ten days (your arrival date is Day Zero) and you must also travel back to the UK with a negative rapid test and book PCR tests on Day 2 and Day 8 in advance of travel.
Your quarantine can be reduced to seven days by taking an additional test on Day 5 using the Test to Release scheme.
That would allow you to attend the Euro 2020 final if England get there and you test negative.
Will England play any other games abroad?
The quarter-final in Rome is the only game England will play abroad.
Should England reach the semi-final and final, both games will be played at Wembley.

England will have German referee Felix Brych for Euro 2020 quarter-final vs Ukraine… just days after KOing his nation

GERMAN referee Felix Brych will take charge of England vs Ukraine – just days after the Three Lions dumped his nation out of Euro 2020.Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane grabbed the goals as Gareth Southgate’s side defeated Germany 2-0 at Wembley on Tuesday.

That was enough to fire England into the quarters where they are now preparing to take on Ukraine in Rome.
And the man in the middle will be someone who would have wanted England to lose two days ago.
Brych is Germany’s representative at Euro 2020 and one of the best-known referees in the world.
He took charge of Portugal’s last 16 exit to Belgium, a match in which he dished out five yellow cards.
He’s already refereed Ukraine at this tournament, overseeing their thrilling 3-2 defeat to Holland. That match saw Ukraine boss Andriy Shevchenko have words with the official.
The whistler has taken charge of Champions League finals before and is one of Uefa’s most trusted officials.
Born in Munich, Brych was refereeing in the German lower leagues at the tender age of just 24.
He impressed enough to make his Bundesliga 2 bow in 2001, before reaching the top league in Germany just three years later.
By 2007 he was regularly involved in European matches and has since worked his way up to internationals.
Not afraid to stamp his authority on games and brandish his cards, Brych is perhaps best remembered in the UK for sending off Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidic for a high tackle against Otelul Galati in 2011.

Back in his maiden World Cup in Brazil, Brych sent off Uruguayan Maxi Pereira and cautioned six more in his two matches at the finals.
And in World Cup 2018 he caused huge controversy by failing to award Serbia a penalty against Switzerland when Aleksandar Mitrovic appeared to be being held down by two Swiss players.
A lawyer outside of football, Brych is a qualified doctor of law.
Tuesday night’s win for England was their first knockout stage victory over their rivals in 55 years and one that left a bitter taste back in Germany.
Berlin-based tabloid BZ reacted by writing a headline in English on their front page saying ‘Germany’s coming home’.

It was a reference to England fans’ ‘football’s coming home’ chant that bellowed around Wembley after the last 16 victory.
They also thanked departing boss Joachim Low for winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
National tabloid Bild, meanwhile, went with the headline ‘Jogi, it’s all over’ and called it a bitter farewell for the national team boss.
They also said that Low looked ’empty, frustrated and depressed’ after the humbling defeat.

And the Cambridges accidentally upstaged them after getting caught in the background of the photo as they rose from their seats.
Prince William and Kate had taken their football-mad son Prince George to the game last night, with all three joining in the celebrations as England thumped to victory.
And they were not the only big names to join England fans at the game last night.
Becks, 46, and 18-year-old Romeo joined Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding and David Seaman in a star-studded Royal Box to cheer on Gareth Southgate’s men.

William, who is President of The FA, was seen pumping his fists in delight as England sunk Germany in a knock-out tie for the first time since 1966.
Seven-year-old George was dressed for the occasion in a smart navy blue jacket, shirt and official FA tie as he cheered England to a famous victory.
It is thought to be Kate’s first time watching an England men’s international in person.
Ed Sheeran also donned an England shirt and was spotted sharing a joke with Beckham in the stands.

But it’s unlikely England fans will be able to jet to Rome to watch Saturday’s showdown with Ukraine.
Anybody who arrives from the UK will be ordered to self-isolate for five days after arriving in Italy.
    THREE LIONS ROAR
However, England fans living in the EU could be given tickets to the Euro 2020 quarter final so they can cheer on the Three Lions in Rome.
Tuesday’s victory sparked wild celebrations, with fans across the country toasting an end to the national team’s Germany hoodoo.
Boozy supporters scaled poles and chanted “It’s Coming Home” after goals from Sterling and Kane sent England into the last eight.
Wembley erupted in the second half as Sterling – the Three Lions’ star man of the tournament – broke the deadlock in the 75th minute with a tidy finish from Luke Shaw’s low cross.
Eleven minutes later, skipper Kane sent England fans wild as he headed in the second goal from a perfectly weighted Jack Grealish ball – leaving the Germans stunned.

England lost to the old enemy 4-1 at the 2010 World Cup Final, after being beatne on penalties at the Euro 1996 semi-final.
The Three Lions endured another semi-final penalty shoot-out heartache against the Germans at the 1990 World Cup.
But with Ukraine next on Saturday and a possible semi-final against the Czech Republic or Denmark at Wembley are fans are once more dreaming its coming home.

Alan Shearer tells Gareth Southgate ‘I never once blamed you’ for Euro 96 penalty miss and says ‘I’m proud of you’

ALAN SHEARER has told Gareth Southgate he’s ‘proud’ of him and insisted he never blamed him for his Euro 96 penalty miss. The England boss gained redemption on Tuesday as his Three Lions beat Germany 2-0 at Wembley to set-up a quarter-final showdown with Ukraine.

That stunning victory occurred almost 25 years to the day that Southgate famously missed in the semi-final shoot-out defeat to the same nation.
Southgate said after this week’s triumph: “I can’t change the fact that the guys I played with in 96 didn’t get to play in a final. That will always live with me.
“But what this group of players have been able to do is give a new generation a lot of happy memories and another afternoon where they’ve made a bit of history.”
Shearer was one of Southgate’s team-mates on that heartbreaking night, but after witnessing the win 48 hours ago, the ex-Newcastle striker has delivered a rousing message of support for the former defender.
Writing in his column for The Athletic, Shearer said: “Gareth, I have never once looked at you and blamed you.
“I have never thought of you as the man who cost me or who cost our England team a trophy and a winners’ medal at the European Championship 25 years ago.
“I have never considered you a failure for taking a penalty against Germany and missing. “There is not a spark in my brain or an atom in my body that thinks in those terms, and I hate that you might suspect otherwise.

“Do I think about it ever? Do I think about it at all? Jesus, yes. I think about that semi-final and how we could have won it in 90 minutes.
“I think about extra time, and how we could have done it then. I think about the players and the talent we had and I will die believing we were good enough to go the whole way.”
Shearer continued: “I can’t remember what I said to you, all those years and nights ago. I can remember my first thought when you missed: Oh, f***.
“We all had that sense of desolation, because why wouldn’t we? We’d been on a great ride, the best adventure.
“But if I personalised it at all, if I measured your contribution, it was as a fine defender and a fine human being, who stepped forward and offered yourself when it mattered most.
“And here’s something that life has taught me. You have to sample the shit to appreciate the good stuff. And if you put yourself forward that many times, every now and again, you’ll trip up. You tripped, Gareth. But you stepped forward.
“And now it’s time to finally let go, to let the rest of us catch you.”
Shearer added: “From the team-mates that played with you — let us catch your fall. There is nothing to feel sorry for, no reason for an apology and nothing for you to change, except what happens next.
“Hurt? No. F*** that. I’m smiling and I’m proud. Proud of England, proud of you.”

England fans heading to Rome for quarter-final clash will NOT be let in stadium, warns Italian embassy

Italian officials have boosted security at airports to catch crafty England fans sneaking in to watch their match against UkraineCredit: AFP
In a statement the country’s embassy in London warned anyone trying to flout its quarantine rules “will be punished”.
Those who try to take advantage of exemptions from self-isolation, such as claiming they’re on a business trip, will be rejected.
The embassy said: “Anybody who has been in the UK in the previous 14 days, irrespective of their nationality or residency, will not be admitted to the stadium even if they have a ticket.
“Only those who can prove that they have arrived in Italy at least six days previously, have observed five days of quarantine, and have taken a post-quarantine COVID-19 test with a negative result will be allowed into the Stadio Olimpico.
“Fans based in the UK should therefore not travel to Italy to attend the match on Saturday at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
“Being exempt from quarantine in Italy for any legal reason, will not translate into permission to enter the stadium.
“For example, travellers who are transiting through Italy for less than 36 hours or visiting briefly for work reasons are not required to quarantine, but they will not be permitted to enter the stadium.”
Italian officials plan to introduce checkpoints on roads from neighbouring countries and boost security at airports with direct links to the UK in a bid to catch crafty England fans sneaking in.

The prefect of Rome, Matteo Piantedosi, was holding talks with the regional committee for public order and security, and senior police chiefs were also brought in to discuss security for Saturday’s game.
Italy is among the countries hardest hit by the Covid pandemic, and officials are desperate to take all measures necessary to make sure there is not another devastating wave.
Andrea Costa, undersecretary for the Italian Ministry of Health, told The Sun: “The rules are clear and concise — English fans will not be able to travel to Italy.
“There are currently five days of obligatory quarantine on arrival, so unless fans arrived before June 28 and completed quarantine, there is no point travelling to Rome.
“Those that do attempt it and are caught will be fined and punished. Rules have to be obeyed and we cannot afford to be running any risks.” Officials said that other measures being considered would include stopping ticket holders and asking them to prove how long they had been in the country — with boarding cards being requested.
Virologist Fabrizio Pregliasco, who has been advising the Italian government, said: “Allowing fans in from the UK would be a disaster because there is a very high probability that they will spread the virus.”
Last night the British Embassy in Rome, which had wrongly been announced as a point of ticket sales for expat England fans, posted a statement on its Facebook page after being swamped with calls.

According to official figures there are around 250,000 Ukrainian citizens in Italy — with around 80 per cent being female cleaners or carers.
Fans from the Ukraine have it worse than those from the UK as they have to undergo ten days of quarantine and provide a negative Covid test.
Entry into Italy for tourism purposes for Ukrainians is expressly forbidden.

Thousands of Brits will hit the pub for Saturday’s game as the country roars on Gareth Southgate’s boys.
The 2-0 win over Germany has sent the country into footie fever pitch, sparking a scramble for pub table bookings.
And landlords braced for their busiest night of the pandemic on Saturday are begging for pubs’ capacities to be increased for England games – all the way to the final.
But the remaining restrictions on social distancing are not set to be lifted until ‘Freedom Day’ on July 19.
    PUBS’ PLEA
Patrick Dardis, chief executive of brewery Young’s, which runs 270 pubs, told The Telegraph: “The appetite is huge.”
He added: “We will not be able to meet the demand due to the Freedom Day delay, unless the Prime Minister gives dispensation for the next one, two, or even better three England games, given 1966 was England’s last success.”
It’s estimated that pubs missed out on sales of £5million during England’s match with Germany due to coronavirus restrictions.
Landlords were tipped to sell 1.3million fewer pints during Tuesday’s match, the British Beer and Pub Association said.
Under Covid curbs, pubs must keep numbers lower than capacity to comply with social distancing rules.

Groups of up to six people from two households can meet together inside, with pubs running table service.
Fans who sing during the football even risk being slapped with a £1,000 fine.
It comes as expats in the EU are being urged to “pull out all the stops” to support England at their Euro 2020 quarter-final in Rome.
English fans on the continent were rallied to buy tickets so the noise of Ukranian supporters is drowned out in Italy.
    ‘CHOCKABLOCK’
Back home, UK Hospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls, joined those calling for regulations to to be relaxed in pubs for England games.
Landlords have reported a surge in bookings for Saturday’s game as fans seek out the atmosphere of a busy bar.
Clive Watson, chairman of City Pub Group, told The Telegraph: “The phone hasn’t stopped ringing. I’m extremely confident it will be chockablock on Saturday.”
Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the British Beer & Pub Association, said: “As fans will not be able to attend the next match in Rome due to Covid restrictions, the pub is the destination to watch the game.
“I urge England fans to support the team – and our pubs – by watching the game at their local.
“The match should be a welcome boost to our trade, but restrictions will mean pubs still struggle to benefit.
“Until all restrictions are lifted pubs will continue to be unviable – even with the Euros boost.”

A BBPA survey found 85 per cent of pub-visiting football fans believe current Covid restrictions will negatively impact their experience of watching Euro 2020.
Ms McClarkin added: “To secure our pubs for future tournaments and national occasions like the Euros, there can be no further delays to the lifting of restrictions.
“On July 19, all restrictions on pubs must be lifted.”

Millions went wild across the country after Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling netted in Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Germany at Wembley to book the Three Lions last-eight slot.
But supporters from England and Ukraine can’t travel to Italy for Saturday’s crunch Euro 2020 game due to Covid restrictions.
Brits must quarantine for five days on arrival in Italy – ruling out making it to the Olympic Stadium for the kick-off at 9pm local time.
    ITALIAN JOB
The Ukranian ambassador to Britain bragged there would be “so many” of his country’s fans at the knockout match.
But former sports minister Richard Caborn told The Times: “I hope any England fan in Italy, or able to get out there from another country, pulls out all the stops to get to Rome, within the rules of course.”
Around 30,000 British expats live in Italy, compared to 240,000 Ukrainians.
England have been allocated just over 2,500 tickets for the Rome game, which will decide who progresses to the semi-final at Wembley.
The FA are said to be working with UEFA to track down England fans in Italy, or countries with no travel restrictions to Italy, who could attend.

Several thousand Englad fans signed up to UEFA’s ticketing system have addresses in Europe, The Times reports.
But despite the pandemic travel chaos slashing the numbers who can travel, a UEFA source told the paper: “Even with travel restrictions we are expecting a sizeable England contingent in Rome.”
Italian authorities have reintroduced mandatory self-isolation for visitors from the UK until at least July 30 due to Delta variant concerns.
But there are a small number of exceptions to the rules which allow people to waive the quarantine and testing requirements.
Penalties for breaking Italy’s lockdown regulations are severe.
    ‘CHEER ON THE TEAM’
People trying to end their quarantine early face a £386 fine, rising to £2,580 for those who try to dodge it entirely.
Authorities today said they’re looking at tightening the rules and could carry out spot checks on arrivals from Britain.
The UK Government has urged England fans not to travel to the Italian capital for this weekend’s game.
Energy minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan said supporters should “watch from home and cheer on the team as loudly as you can”.

Everyone arriving in Italy has to fill out a passenger locator form providing details of where they’ll be staying during their time in the country.
There is no exemption from quarantine for people travelling by car, who are allowed to spend up to 72 hours transiting the country, but can’t stop.
England fans who secured tickets to the big clash have been left devastated by the new quarantine rules.
Warrick Howard, from Leicestershire, bought his in 2019 for £120 but now won’t be able to attend.

He said: “Given the huge push to have everyone vaccinated there were ways of making this work for fans attending this tournament, but Uefa and the EU have made no effort to do so.
“I guess they were too busy organising thousands of ‘no quarantine required’ exemptions for their couple of thousand VIPs.
“I thought about flying out to Italy on Sunday June 27 and doing my five-day quarantine in an AirBnB apartment so I’d be free for the game if England did make it through… but that would have required a week off work.”
