Speaking to the PA news agency, Carlos said: “You can see he’s very motivated.
“He’s really improving, his performance against Ukraine was very good. He’s been an important part of this English team, along with all the others.
“He’s been improving each game and I think he’s got everything to get to the top. He’s the left-back for England, that in itself says a lot.”
Shaw has been instrumental to England’s success, providing the second most assists at the tournament after setting up two against Ukraine.
The 25-year-old now gets called ‘Shawberto Carlos’ by his international team-mates, comparing him with the great Brazilian left-back.
Jadon Sancho said on the Lions Den You Tube series: “We got Shawberto Carlos here, Luke Shaw, yes we do.”
And Harry Kane was heard saying ‘Shawberto’ in a separate video posted to England’s Twitter feed.
COMPETITION: WIN A MERCEDES AMG A45S WORTH £51,000 PLUS UP TO £50k IN CASH

The nickname originates from Old Trafford, with Shaw telling the United website earlier this year: “I’ll be honest I’ve seen some things on it on social media and sometimes in my group chats my mates send me some stuff and I just laugh about it!”
Roberto Carlos, who praised Shaw on Instagram after England’s quarter-final win, won dozens of trophies during his career – including the World Cup and three Champions League titles.
But the 48-year-old has played down comparisons, adding: “I don’t like comparing.

“It’s two completely different periods in football. I had my time and now he’s having his.
“Similarities I think could be that he has strength and the desire to win, just like I did.”
England fans are hoping Shaw continues to resemble Carlos when Gareth Southgate’s side face Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday, July 7.

Denmark given heroic send-off by chanting crowd ahead of England clash in Euro 2020 with 8,000 Danes expected at Wembley

DENMARK were given a rapturous send-off from thousands of passionate fans as they jetted to London for Wednesday’s crunch semi-final clash. The underdogs head to Wembley looking to recreate the magic of 1992 when they were crowned Euro champions against all the odds.

Kasper Hjulmand’s side left their Helsingor training base on Monday where a sea of red shirts lined the streets to cheer them on.
Footage on the Dane’s official Instagram video shows Hjulmand stepping out onto the balcony to a huge roar from the crowd.
Hjulmand is seen waving and blowing kisses before starting a chant.
Images then show the team including Kasper Schmeichel and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg walking through the fans towards the team bus.
Flags were waved while a number of girls played the flute before making their way to the airport.
And they will be greeted by a similar raucous reception from the 8,000 travelling Danes on arrival in London.
The Danish FA were initially given 6,500 tickets for the game but they then asked for an extra 1,500 after they were unsurprisingly snapped up rapidly.
Around 60,000 fans will be inside Wembley for the semi-final but the Danish supporters are bound to make their voices heard to encourage their side.

Ciro Immobile admits Italy team-mates have been mocking Euro 2020 dramatics vs Belgium but Bonucci refuses to join in

CIRO IMMOBILE has been getting it in the neck from his Italian team-mates for his Euro dramatics. But veteran defender Leonardo Bonucci is refusing to kick his much maligned team-mate while he is down.
⚽ Follow ALL of the latest news and updates from Euro 2020 with our live blog
Italy’s Ciro Immobile, 31, went down easily against Belgium at Euro 2020 – and got up as soon as Nicolo Barrella scored the opening goalCredit: EPA

Striker Immobile was the subject of global mockery when he went down as though he had been seriously assaulted by Jan Vertonghen during Italy’s quarter-final win against Belgium last week.
But the second that Nicolo Barrella fired Italy ahead, Immobile rose like Lazarus to join in the mass celebrations.
Bonnucci explained: “Ciro felt contact and he went down, but the joy and excitement of such an important goal means that you don’t experience any more pain.
“We all had a bit of a laugh about that and took the mickey out of him. But that was the end of it.
“Ciro is a wonderful guy, a very upstanding man, and things like that can happen on the pitch.”
But it’s not just Immobile’s histrionics which have been the subject of much criticism back home in Italy.
The Lazio centre-forward has also taken stick for his wayward finishing in spite of scoring in both of Italy’s opening group games against Turkey and Switzerland.
Yet he retains the faith of national team boss Roberto Mancini, who says: “Ciro Immobile is still the proud recipient of the European Golden Shoe and I think he has scored more goals than anyone else in the last few years.

“Often in a major tournament like this it is the most maligned player who can often prove to be the match winner. So we are fairly relaxed on that score.”
There has certainly been no-one questioning the contribution of Bonucci and defensive partner Giorgio Chiellini to Italy’s record unbeaten run of 32 games.
The Juventus team-mates with a combined age of 70 have accumulated 227 games for the national team between them and will once again be crucial in tonight’s semi-final clash with Spain.
Mancini says: “For many years I have heard that they have been the best central defensive pairing in world football.
“But their strength is that they still want to prove that is the case in every game.
“Even after all these games together they go out to show that they are the best in their position.”
Captain Chiellini, 36, has recovered from the knee injury which ruled him out of Italy’s victories against Wales and Austria.
Bonucci says: “Over the last two years we haven’t played too much together as a pairing because of Girogio’s injuries, the pandemic and some of my knocks.

“But clearly when we are alongside each other we know each other’s game inside out so things come very naturally to us.
“I don’t have to think about all the other things than I need to do when I’m playing with someone other than Giorgio.
“We can share the workload, help the team out and we can both be leaders. That is crucial and it allows us both to give 100 percent in every game.”
Tomorrow will be Bonnucci’s third European Championship face-off with Spain after losing 4-0 in the 2012 final before winning 2-0 at Euro 2016 in France.
He recalls: “The final in Kiev leaves a very bitter taste in the mouth because we were all out of steam before we got to that game.
“We were short on ideas and short on energy and we deserved to lose that day.
“But it was a completely different story in Paris in 2016 because we were sure we could cause problems for Spain and we played very well.
“This time I believe it will be a very open game and we need to show the utmost respect for an opponent who has been constantly improving throughout this tournament.

“Spain has taken a lot of criticism but Luis Enrique has protected his squad and you can see they have a lot of solidarity in their squad.
“But we know that if we are to play as we have done over the last 32 matches then we should be able to come away with a good result.”
But Mancini knows his team face probably their toughest opponent of his three year tenure and says: “Spain has dominated world football for 20 years. They play a brand of football which has brought them incredible success.
“They are not going to change their mentality and their game plan now and we cannot become Spanish overnight.
“Our style of play is different and we will try to be true to our own game because we will need a top performance if we are going to go all the way to the final.”
Team news: Leonardo Spinazzola is out after rupturing an Achilels against Belgium.
Emerson will replace him at left-back. Andrea Belotti and Rafael Toloi have both recovered from minor knocks.

Who will England play in the Euro 2020 final if they beat Denmark?

ENGLAND are hoping to qualify for the European Championship final for the first time as they face Denmark. And should they get there, they will have the bonus of the final being at Wembley.

But who will be their opponent at the national stadium, should they get past the Danes?
Who will England play in the Euro 2020 final?
England will face the winner of the other Euro 2020 final between Italy and Spain, should they beat Denmark.
The Italians are the only team to have won every game they have played at the tournament so far and impressed by beating Belgium’s ‘Golden Generation’ in the quarter-final.
Spain have been far less impressive in the tournament, finishing second in their group behind Sweden.
They then won an epic last 16 match 5-3 against Croatia after extra time before limping past ten-man Switzerland on penalties in the quarter-finals.

What is England’s record against Italy?
England have a negative head-to-head record against Italy, having won eight, drawn eight and lost eleven.
And their record against the Italians major tournaments is nothing short of dreadful.
The Three Lions have met the Azzurri four times at European Championships or World Cups, winning zero, drawing one and losing three.
The draw came in the Euro 2012 quarter-final when Roy Hodgson’s men held onto a 0-0 against Cesare Prandelli’s Italy before being knocked out on penalties.
Last time the sides met competitively, Prandelli’s Italy beat Hodgson’s England 2-1 in the 2014 World Cup group stage.
The sides have since played out two 1-1 draws in friendlies.

How is England’s head-to-head record against Spain?
    Easily better than against Italy.
England have won 14, drawn three and lost ten against the Spaniards.
In major tournaments, the Three Lions have won one, drawn two and lost one against La Roja.
However, the defeat was way back at the 1950 World Cup when they were beaten 1-0.
The sides haven’t met at a tournament since Euro 96, when England famously drew 0-0 at Wembley before knocking Spain out on penalties.
In their last meeting, England were 3-2 winners in Seville in the Uefa Nations League in 2018.

“Last season he scored 36 goals in 44 games, the numbers don’t always say everything but hide many truths, we are happy that Ronaldo will join the team as soon as he has finished his holidays.

Ronaldo helped his country through from the Group of Death with Germany and France, but they were dumped out by Belgium in the last 16.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner will return to action with Juventus for pre-season in the coming weeks with the new Serie A campaign set to get underway on August 22.
The boat he went out to sea on with his family is thought to be the 88-feet long Azimut Grande, the super-yacht he purchased last June which boasts five luxury cabins and six bathrooms.

Azimut Grande is capable of reaching 28 knots, thanks to two 1,900 horsepower engines, and is made of carbon fibre weighing a whopping 93 tonnes.

In a game that could come down to the finest of margins, he could have the secret weapon to deny England at Wembley.
Leicester shot-stopper Schmeichel, 34, has 288 spikes in his gloves for this summer’s tournament.
The spikes – also worn by Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma – are to help him punch the ball.
The Predator range is famous for its boots, with Premier League legends Steven Gerrard and David Beckham wearing them during their careers.
But top goalkeepers, such as Schmeichel and Donnarumma, are sporting Predators on their hands too.
The Predator Pro gloves are priced at £100 and fitted with 288 spikes to help goalkeepers punch crosses.
They’re currently being worn by the likes of Manchester United star David de Gea and England youngster Aaron Ramsdale.
Schmeichel will line up in the sticks at Wembley on Wednesday night against England.
Denmark have thrashed Wales and beaten Czech Republic on their way to the semi-finals after finishing second in Group B.

Real Madrid shot stopper Courtois, 29, has been linked with the 23-year-old Israeli model in Spanish press recently.
And the pair were seen aboard a yacht together in Ibiza, soaking up the sunshine.
Courtois was part of Belgium’s Euro 2020 squad that was knocked out in the quarter-finals by Italy.
The former Chelsea goalkeeper will be back in pre-season training soon with the new LaLiga season kicking off on the weekend of August 14/15.
He had been secretive in the lead-up to the Euros about his new love interest.
Courtois confirmed on Belgian show Deviltime that he has a new girlfriend but didn’t give much away.
He said: “She’s Israeli. I can’t say much about it. Whether she will be a supporter of Spain or Belgium during the EURO? Of Belgium, of course.”
And the pair were seen sharing a kiss and cuddle on board the yacht in Spain this week.

Earlier this year, Courtois was linked to Spanish model Mayka Rivera – but she denied the rumours.
Rivera shot to fame since her appearance on Spanish reality show Temptation Island and Marca claimed she struck up a relationship with Courtois.
But she said on Instagram: “All rumours of the possible relationship or approach with Thibaut Courtois are totally false.
“Tomorrow I will give an explanation on my mtmad channel and it will be the first and last time that I will talk about this topic. End.”
Courtois has two children with Marta Dominguez – but the pair split up while he was at Chelsea.
It was reported in 2019 that the Belgian keeper had started dating TV host Alba Carrillo.
He also allegedly fathered a secret love child with his married neighbour during that year.
Courtois also allegedly slept with Belgian and ex-Chelsea team-mate Kevin de Bruyne’s girlfriend.

Courtois’s Belgium side were beaten by Italy in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals last Friday.
The goalkeeper’s sister recently apologised for accusing Italy star Leonardo Spinazzola in Munich.
Spinazzola ruptured his Achilles and was taken off on a stretcher and faces up to six months out.
Thibaut’s sister Valerie posted a picture of the incident with the caption: “We call it tricks of the trade.”

But she was later forced to backtrack on her accusation.
She wrote: “So sorry to find out Spinazzola’s EC [Euro Cup] finishes like this.
“I apologise for my reaction in the moment and absolutely hope he has a good recovery.”
