And Jorginho opened up on his emotions after he placed his hop, step and jump penalty past Unai Simon with his unique calmness.
Jorginho said: “After you kick the ball, you feel like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
“But, in that moment, I tried to forget what was going on around me, to do what I’d trained to do.
“I breathed (Jorginho then made a deep breath gesture) as I do to be more focused and then I did what I had to do.”

Jorginho’s nickname among his team-mates is ‘Radio’ for the way he directs Roberto Mancini’s side and constantly talks to his Azzurri pals from the midfield engine room.
And his signal was on the right wavelength as keeper Simon remained rooted to the spot.
The Spain stopper was completely wrong-footed as Jorginho rolled the ball into the right-hand bottom corner to spark wild celebrations in the lively Italian section of support under the arch.

Jorginho is in line to become only the tenth player to win the Euros and Champions League in the same season after Chelsea’s victory over Manchester City in Porto.
Italy have not lifted the European Championship trophy since 1968 and the 29-year-old believes the character shown against the Spanish will make them difficult to beat in Sunday’s final.
He added: “Italy never give up. We always believe. This is a wonderful squad.
“We deserve it all. We suffer, play, laugh, have fun, and sometimes we even fight. together like a family.
“You can see for yourself that the ones on the bench help the ones on the pitch. It’s really beautiful.
“We suffered a bit against a great team that put us in trouble, made us run a lot.
We knew this, we suffered and that’s it. We took it to the end; we always believed. And we deserved to win.”

England team to play Denmark REVEALED with Bukayo Saka replacing Jadon Sancho for Euro 2020 semi-final

BUKAYO SAKA will return to the England side at the expense of Jadon Sancho for the crunch Euro 2020 semi-final clash with Denmark. The Arsenal ace, 19, was given the nod in last week’s epic 2-0 victory over Germany in front of a raucous Wembley.

Unfortunately the attacker picked up a knock and missed out on the squad that travelled to Rome to face Ukraine on Saturday.
Sancho, who will complete his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United after Euro 2020, stepped in and impressed as the Three Lions romped to a 4-0 win to set-up the semi-final showdown.
But it was not enough to convince England boss Gareth Southgate to stick with him as his team look to secure a place in the final of Euro 2020.
Saka will be joined by top-scorer Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount behind frontman Harry Kane.
It also means Jack Grealish will be left sat on the bench waiting to be unleashed.
Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips will be the deep-lying midfielders.
Harry Maguire will again be partnered by John Stones at the heart of the defence, with Kyle Walker right-back and Luke Shaw on the left.
A rejuvenated Jordan Pickford is between the sticks – and looks to continue his run of clean sheets at the tournament.

Gareth Southgate is yet to beat Denmark as England manager

Southgate believes the history of the England team is not as good as the nation likes to think but feels his team have broken down barriers on their run to the Euro 2020 semi-finals.
The Three Lions had not won a knockout game at a European Championship in 25 years before beating Germany in the last 16 a week ago.
Now they are preparing for their second major semi-final in just three years under Southgate – with the England boss happy that his players are writing their own story.

He said: “We don’t have as a good as football history as we like to believe sometimes.
“These players are making massive strides and breaking barriers all the time, we have broken barriers in this tournament and we have another opportunity to do that tomorrow.”
And captain Kane has urged the team to prove they can deliver in front of 60,000 inside Wembley.
He added: “It’s a chance to go out there and prove it, we can talk as much as we want but the bottom line is we have to go out there and perform”.

Who is England vs Denmark referee Danny Makkelie, how many major tournaments has Dutchman refereed at?

OFFICIAL Danny Makkelie has been selected as the referee for the England vs Denmark semi-final clash at Euro 2020.The Dutchman was in the middle for the first Euros match at the Stadio Olimpico between Italy and Turkey, which saw Roberto Mancini’s side win 3-0.
Makkelie has been selected as a VAR assistant for the World CupCredit: AFP – Getty
He was also the ref for Finland’s defeat to Russia in the group stages.Has he officiated at the Euros before?
A former police inspector, Makkelie will accept no messing about in the Wembley match-up.
He was first listed as a FIFA referee in 2011 and at 38 years old, still has plenty of seasons under his belt.
Before this tournament, Makkelie was the referee for the 2020 Europa League final between Sevilla and Inter Milan, but this is his first major international tournament in the middle.
What else has he done so far?
Makkelie made his Eredivise debut in 2009 and has gone on to make over 180 appearances across nine seasons.
He took charge of five Champions League fixtures in 2019, including the quarter-final first leg when Barcelona beat AS Roma 4-1.
The Dutchman was blasted by the Italians’ boss Eusebio di Francesco for denying them a penalty in that game, but it proved irrelevant as Roma heroically won the second leg 3-0 to progress on away goals.
Makkelie has also been involved in the Europe League, officiating 11 matches from 2012 to 2017.

    Has he used VAR before?
The Dutchman has been involved in two major controversies with the VAR system.
Makkelie became the first referee to send-off a player using the technology after he changed his yellow-card decision to a sending off against Willem II’s Anouar Kalu in a KNVB Cup game in 2016.
He was also involved in one of the most famous and controversial usages of VAR when he took charge of the Dutch Super Cup final between Feyenoord and Vitesse.
During that match, Feyenoord saw a goal disallowed and a penalty awarded to Vitesse instead after a VAR review showed Makkelie should have given the spot kick before the goal was scored. More

England vs Denmark football results: Three Lions dominate head-to-head stats against Euro 2020 semi-final opponents

ENGLAND reached the semi-finals of the European Championship for the first time since 1996 with a 4-0 win against Ukraine in Rome.Standing between the Three Lions and the final is an inspired Denmark side, who have a good record against Gareth Southgate’s team.

Here, SunSport takes a look at England’s record against the Scandinavian nation since the two first met in September 1948.
    England vs Denmark head-to-head
England have beaten the Danes in 12 of their 17 encounters, although they haven’t recorded a competitive win since 2002.
And Southgate’s team failed to beat their semi-final opponents in the Nations League last autumn, drawing 0-0 in Copenhagen and losing 1-0 at Wembley.
The two teams last met at a major tournament in 2002, with England hammering Denmark 3-0 on the Japanese island of Niigata in the last 16 of the World Cup.
Gareth Southgate is yet to beat Denmark as England manager
Here are the highlights of their previous encounters:
    England 5 Denmark 2 – Molineux (1956)
Their first competitive match between the two nations was 59 years ago at Wolves’ stadium.
Walter Winterbottom’s England side eased to victory in the West Midlands, with Manchester United icon Duncan Edwards scoring twice.
Preston legend Tom Finney, inaugural Ballon d’Or winner Stanley Matthews and 105-cap international Billy Wright also played for England in the drubbing.
    Denmark 0 England 0 – Malmo (1992)
England have played Denmark just once before at the European Championships – 29 years ago in Sweden.
The game finished 0-0 as Gary Lineker, Paul Merson and Co failed to beat Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.
If you’re an England fan looking for a bad omen, Denmark went on to win Euro ’92 – and Schmeichel’s son Kasper will be in goal for the semi-final.

EURO 2020 FREE BETS: GET OVER £2,000 IN NEW CUSTOMER DEALS

    England 3 Denmark 0 – Niigata (2002)
The two teams last met at a major tournament 19 years ago and it was a fairly comfortable game for Sven Goran Eriksson’s team.
An own goal from ex-Premier League goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen and one each for Liverpool pair Michael Owen and Emile Heskey sealed victory in the last 16 of the World Cup.
England went on to lose to eventual winners Brazil in the next round, with Ronaldinho famously lobbing Arsenal stopper David Seaman to win the game.

    England 1 Denmark 0 – Wembley (2014)
England’s last victory against Denmark came seven years ago as Roy Hodgson’s team sealed an uninspiring 1-0 win at Wembley.
Current squad members Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling and Luke Shaw all played in the forgettable match.
A late goal from Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge secured victory, although both teams have changed significantly since that game.

    England 0 Denmark 1 – Wembley (2020)
Denmark were victorious in the last meeting between the two teams, with Christian Eriksen scoring a first-half penalty in their Nations League clash.
Perhaps most concerning for England is the strength of the team manager Southgate played that day, with seven of the 11 also starting against Ukraine in the quarter-final.
But Sterling, Shaw, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish did NOT play in that defeat – and England fans will be hoping one of those stars can unpick the stubborn Danish defence at Wembley on Wednesday, July 7.

England will be forced to wait until SEPTEMBER for victory parade if they win Euro 2020 due to coronavirus

ENGLAND must wait until September for a victory parade if they win Euro 2020.The Three Lions have got the nation dreaming of glory, 55 years after their only major tournament success.
Any official mass celebration should England win Euro 2020 would be delayed until SeptemberCredit: Getty
They take on Denmark at Wembley tonight in the semi-finals with Italy awaiting the winners on Sunday night.
But according to the Daily Mail, any plans for a mass celebration should England go all the way will be shelved until the autumn.
The report states FA bosses ditched any ideas for a party next week due to the coronavirus restrictions.
And instead they would plan to get something arranged for the first international break of the 2021-22 season.
England have a World Cup qualifying triple-header in September with a home tie against Andorra (Sunday 5) sandwiched between trips to Hungary (Thursday 2) and Poland (Wednesday 8).
If all restrictions are lifted, an open-top bus tour through central London would be the most likely option.
A party inside Wembley could be another option to help monitor numbers if required.
However, with the next easing of lockdown measures – including unlimited people at mass gatherings – not taking place until July 19, England’s players will be on holiday by then getting a well-earned rest in before the new season.

⚽ ENGLAND vs DENMARK BETTING SPECIAL ⚽

The report adds the FA would want to do a small-scale celebration of some kind next week should England lift the trophy on Sunday night to mark the occasion.
An invitation to Downing Street on Monday is almost guaranteed.
The England rugby union side received a welcome home by hundreds of thousands of fans when they held a victory parade after winning the World Cup in 2003.
And there were also similar scenes after England’s cricketers won the Ashes in 2005 and when the Three Lions got to the World Cup semi-finals in 1990.
But Liverpool were denied a victory parade after ending a 30-year wait and winning the Premier League title in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
