They did so by beating Denmark 2-1 after extra-time at Wembley, the scene where they play Italy on Sunday.
Heavyweight champion Joshua was feeling patriotic as he tweeted: “COMMMEEE ONNN ENGLAND!”
He followed it up with: “CUTTLA CANS??… WHY NOT! CYAM ON ENGURLAND.”
After England wrapped up the victory with Harry Kane’s winner, AJ posted: “swwweeettttt caroline! ….”

He paid homage to the 1969 Neil Diamond classic which has become synonymous with big boxing matches in Britain.
Joshua, who fights Oleksandr Usyk in September, has been enjoying a sunny getaway before his return to the ring.
But he has been tuning into England’s game with the locals, and was full of praise for Jack Grealish, who came on as a substitute against Denmark.
Joshua, 31, told Grealish, 25, on Instagram: “Well played lad.”

Playmaker Grealish replaced Bukayo Saka with 20 minutes of normal time to play, but the Aston Villa captain was hauled off after just 35 minutes.
He was taken off for defender Kieran Tripper when England were defending their lead with 15 minutes remaining.
And manager Southgate revealed fan favourite was understanding of the decision.
He said: “He’s fine – he understood, he was terrific when he came on he gave us momentum.
“But we know when they’ve gone behind in games they’ve thrown four men up front so we needed to get an extra defender on just to make sure we were more solid and I wanted to keep Raheem’s speed on so it meant taking one of the two boys off who had just come on.”

England fans call for Gareth Southgate to be KNIGHTED as he takes Three Lions to first final in 55 years

ENGLAND fans have called for Gareth Southgate to be KNIGHTED after he guided the Three Lions to their first final in 55 years.England beat Denmark 2-1 on Wednesday night in an historic victory as skipper Harry Kane scored the winner in extra time.

The result was the first time England had reached a final since 1966 when they went onto lift the World Cup.
At the time they were managed by Sir Alf Ramsey and, following last night’s game, many fans took to Twitter to suggest that current boss Gareth Southgate should be in line for the same honour.
One user suggested: “The Right Honourable Sir Gareth Southgate, Prime Minister, please!”
A second said: “It’ll be Sir Gareth Southgate if we win it!
While a third concluded: “Arise Sir Gareth Southgate. Not just a great manager, but an inclusive and inspirational leader. Well done England.”
Another fan said: “Actually love the bloke. Sir Gareth Southgate – make it happen.”
One fan gushed: “One win from Sir Gareth Southgate.”
    ‘ARISE SIR GARETH’
Prior to Wednesday’s game, England had been knocked out in their last three major semi-finals.
During Euro 1996, Southgate, then as a player, missed a decisive spot kick as England were booted out of the competition by eventual winners West Germany.
However, England’s 2-1 victory against the Danes finally secured that elusive spot in a major final – seen by many as the ultimate redemption story for the England boss.
On Twitter one fan recollected: “I was in London in Trafalgar Square when Gareth missed the penalty. I was a young fella and he was too.
“It is so nice to see him do well tonight. Well done Gareth Southgate or maybe Sir Gareth after Sunday.”

Although victorious on the night, England were tested by a strong Denmark side who opened the scoring via an impressive free kick from starlet Mikkel Damsgaard.
The youngster shot flying past Jordan Pickford in the England net as the home side conceded a goal in the tournament for the first time.
But, England swiftly roared back to life, securing an equaliser before the break. Saka’s square ball across goal bundled over the line by Danish captain Kjaer.
As the second half came and went, England struggled to break down a resolute Denmark defence as the game crept into extra time.
Fans were fearing the worst with a potential dreaded penalty shoot-out on the cards, but were given a lifeline when Raheem Sterling was taken down in the box.
Captain Harry Kane was the man deployed with the unenviable task and, despite seeing his shot initially saved by Kasper Schmeichel, slammed in the rebound to take England to the promise land.
The result left many fans jubilant and overwhelmed with emotions as they took to streets, pubs and gardens to celebrate the historic win.
Fired-up fans were caught on camera climbing onto a buses’ roof in Piccadilly Circus before brandishing flags, dancing, and chanting as crowds swarmed the street below to celebrate of England’s historic victory.

Others hyped footie fanatics were snapped mounting lampposts, buses and telephone boxes amid the sheer pandemonium following the heart-stopping match.
Crowds could be heard chanting “England” in unison as the excitement gripping the nation shows no sign of stopping.

Jose Mourinho: Coming second at Euro 2020 just not enough for England after fantastic Denmark win

THE runner-up medal is not a nice one to win.If England don’t beat Italy at Wembley on Sunday it will be a double frustration because now it is so close — it’s just about one match.
England booked their place in the Euro 2020 final by beating Denmark – but losing a final is not a nice feeling, says Jose MourinhoCredit: Getty
The win sparked wild celebrations across the countryCredit: AP
The England players were fantastic and showed they could cope with a difficult match, that they could cope with the pressure of being 1-0 behind.
There was a very strong reaction after Mikkel Damsgaard’s free-kick.
We didn’t see any players hiding, everyone performed at a high level and showed they could cope with it.
Italy are famous for their know-how, pragmatism, and being able to deal with high-pressure situations.
It will be another massive match but Italy have more potential than Denmark — I can’t wait.
England deserved to win and I am very happy, don’t get me wrong.
But I say it the way I see it and, as a football man, I am disappointed that the penalty on Raheem Sterling was given.
Maybe the England fans won’t like my opinion but it’s never a penalty… never.

The best team won. England are better than Denmark.
But especially at this level, the semi-finals of the Euros, I don’t understand the referee’s decision.
And I understand even less the fact that VAR didn’t bring the ref over to the screen or overturn the decision.
It was never a penalty against the first defender, and it was never a penalty on the second defender.
Earlier on, even before Denmark’s opener, Jordan Pickford was showing some nerves and a bit of a lack of concentration.
I saw the mistake arriving, but apart from that I didn’t see one England player who didn’t play well or very well.

The Danes played like I expected them to, to their limits.
They were really tired in extra-time, whereas England had a fantastic bench to move like they did — and they could have moved more if needed.
I would take the win but would have said to the Denmark manager, ‘Congratulations for what you did and I would prefer to have won in a different way’.
The referee would not have slept well that night.

Raheem Sterling put the pressure on Simon Kjaer from Bukayo Saka’s cross, with the Denmark captain only able to bundle the ball into his own net moments before the break.
And it was the lively Sterling who once again wreaked havoc in extra time as he won a penalty shortly before the end of the first 15-minute period.
After a quick VAR check, England captain Kane stepped up to take the spot-kick.
Kane saw his effort well saved by Leicester ace Schmeichel, before thumping home the rebound to send England to the final.
But after the game, footage emerged which showed a green laser flickering across the Danish stopper’s face, with a fan seemingly looking to distract him.
A steely-faced Schmeichel – who poked fun of England’s lack of major tournament success on Tuesday – was able to focus on Kane and the ball.
The Dane dived expertly to his left to keep out the England skipper’s effort.
Unfortunately for him, his parry fell right to the feet of the Tottenham star, who was able to blast the ball into the net to spark wild celebrations at Wembley.

Schmeichel expertly kept his composure but was only able to parry the penalty back into the feet of Kane

But Kane’s penalty sparked yet more controversy after it was later revealed the spot-kick should NOT have been awarded.
As Sterling weaved his way into the penalty area, he dribbled past a second ball on the pitch.
Referee Danny Makkelie either missed the incident or decided the second ball was not interfering with play as the attack continued.
But the Dutch official would have been within his right to halt play and bring the move back for a drop ball.

Referee Danny Makkelie either missed the incident or decided the second ball was not interfering with play as the attack continued.
But the Dutch official would have been within his right to halt play and bring the move back for a drop ball.
And Danish boss Kasper Hjulmand revealed after the game that he was furious with the decision.
He said: “We’re very, very disappointed, and it’s hard for me to talk about. Maybe it will easier for me to say how I feel in a few days.
“We’re just very disappointed that we were so close to the final.
“We’re disappointed it was decided that way… it was a penalty that shouldn’t have been a penalty, and that annoys me right now. We’re disappointed, we’re very disappointed.
“It’s one thing to lose a game, that happens, but losing this way is just a disappointment, because these guys have fought a lot.
It’s bitter, I think we have to digest this before we can describe these feelings, but it’s a bitter way to leave a tournament.”

Sterling nonetheless worked his way towards goal and went down after challenges from Joakim Maehle and Mathias Jensen.
Harry Kane took the spot-kick but had it saved by Kasper Schmeichel – only to slam home the rebound to send England through.
Ref Makkelie had earlier missed a Danish infringement in their opening goal.
Mikkel Damsgaard’s free-kick was taken after his team-mates had moved within one yard of the England wall at the last moment – which is deemed illegal by the game’s rulebook.
After the 2-1 semi-final victory, the debate raged on over whether Sterling was actually fouled in extra-time.
But the England winger was insistent that he did get tripped, a decision backed up by VAR.
He told ITV: “I went into the box and he stabbed his right leg out.
“As long as it goes into the back of the net, that’s all that matters.”

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate stated he had not seen the incident back and praised his star’s all-round display on Wednesday night.
ITV pundits Ian Wright and Roy Keane clashed on the decision, which the Irishman felt was incorrect.
Wright replied: “Of course it is soft but those have been given all season.”
