Hansi Flick will QUIT Bayern Munich for Germany job in summer with Julian Nagelsmann replacing him, claims Matthaus

JULIAN NAGELSMANN is being lined up to replace Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich, club legend Lothar Matthaus has claimed. The former midfielder, 60, has predicted a huge turnover at the top of German football with Flick taking the national team job and RB Leipzig boss Nagelsmann heading to Bavaria.

A rift has reportedly emerged at Bayern, who were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday, between the coach and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
And while Nagelsmann has denied any links to the club, Matthaus believes discussions are already underway.
He told Sky Sports in Germany: “I already said two weeks ago that in my opinion, this is Hansi Flick’s last season.
“I’ve said that Hansi Flick is right at the top of the [German FA] DFB’s list.. There’s an offer from the DFB.
“So, they want Hansi Flick and I think – or rather, I’m convinced – that Hansi Flick will no longer be Bayern coach after this season.”
The German added: “Munich have already chatted a bit with Nagelsmann, including about financial matters.
“Before the start of this season, Flick said that the coach should have a vote on new signings, which I think is right. As a coach, what am I going to do with players who I perhaps don’t want?
“I think it’s got too much for Hansi, and then the offer, the opportunity is there to become Jogi Low’s successor.”

What is certain is Joachim Low’s exit as Germany boss in the summerCredit: Reuters
Joachim Low will leave his role as Germany coach after Euro 2020 with his replacement not yet announced.
Flick taking the role would, in turn, open up another of European football’s biggest jobs, at Bayern.
Nagelsmann, 33, is one of the country’s top coaches with success at Hoffenheim and Leipzig.
But he shot down the notion of leaving for Munich, and said: “There were and there are no talks with Bayern.
“I have no idea where Lothar got this information from. This of course also applies to my agents, there were no talks.
“I have not spoken to the club because there will be nothing to discuss. I still have a contract with RB until 2023.”
Despite losing to Paris Saint-Germain on away goals, silverware is very much on the horizon for Bayern.
A five-point lead over Leipzig keeps them top of the Bundesliga amid the speculation over Flick’s future.

The makeup of the squad and the club’s transfer plans are said to be a huge area of disagreement between the 56-year-old and Salihamidzic.
Speaking after the game in Paris, Flick assured: “The relationship is stable and nothing will change about that.

The Three Lions boss said: “In the autumn discipline off the pitch and on the pitch created the biggest issues for us and meant we didn’t get to the semi-finals of the Nations League that we were desperate to be in.
“It still annoys me when I look at that line-up — Italy, Spain, Belgium, France.
“It’s a brilliant line-up and games you want to be involved in.
“We didn’t have availability of players at certain times for on and off the field misdemeanours.”
Southgate has praised Leicester for their swift action in dropping James Maddison, Ayoze Perez and Hamza Choudhury for Sunday’s trip to West Ham after they went to a party.
England’s hopes of qualifying for the Nations League finals were hit by Phil Foden, Mason Greenwood, Ben Chilwell, Tammy Abraham and Jadon Sancho breaking lockdown rules while Kyle Walker and Harry Maguire were sent off during matches.

Southgate said: “I’m conscious that Leicester have dealt with the situation brilliantly.
“We’ve had issues ourselves in the autumn.
“Coming into the summer we’ve got to make sure we arrive into the camp giving ourselves the best chance to focus on football and that helps to create a calmer environment for everybody.”

Assistant ref who failed to give Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘goal’ vs Serbia DROPPED from Holland’s Euro 2020 officiating team

THE assistant who failed to give Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘goal’ for Portugal against Serbia has been DROPPED from Holland’s Euro 2020 officiating team – by the man who was refereeing the same game.Mario Diks’ blunder made him the centre of attention in last month’s controversial World Cup qualifier that ended 2-2.

And his crucial mistake has now resulted in exile from the Dutch Euro ref squad, with the decision made by Danny Makkelie – who was in charge of the fiery fixture.
The incident happened when Ronaldo, 36, appeared to put the ball over the line with just seconds on the clock to make it 3-2 to Portugal.
Serbia skipper Stefan Mitrovic pulled off a desperate clearance to prevent the ball from hitting the back of the net.
But linesman Diks, who was unable to call upon goal-line technology, did not raise his flag to confirm it had gone in.
That led to a furious outburst from Ronaldo, who was adamant the ball had crossed the line.
He marched over to Diks to argue his case but his protest fell on deaf ears as the whistle blew for a 2-2 result.
Replays showed Ronaldo had every reason to be dismayed, with multiple angles showing the ball was over the line.
Dutch ref Makkelie, promptly booked a raging Ronaldo, who walked off the field waving his arms in disbelief before ripping off his captain’s armband and launching it to the floor.

However, Makkelie later apologised to Ronnie for Diks’ mistake that cost Portugal the win.
And Makkelie has now axed assistant Diks from his officiating team for this summer’s Euros.
It remains to be seen if Ronaldo is appeased though, with the veteran refusing to say sorry for his behaviour in the game.
He explained: Ronaldo was unapologetic after the final whistle, writing on social media: “Being captain of the Portugal team is one of the greatest privileges of my life.
“I always give and will give everything for my country, that will never change.
“But there are difficult times to deal with, especially when we feel that an entire nation is being harmed.
“Lift your head and face the next challenge now! Strength, Portugal.”
But Ronnie’s actions were labelled ‘unacceptable’ and ‘setting a bad example’ to kids who idolise him.
However, there was some good news to come from the incident, with Ronnie’s discarded captain’s armband put up for auction to raise money for a sick child in Serbia.

Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness signs with ITV for Euro 2020 coverage as they assemble star-studded team

GRAEME SOUNESS has been snapped up by ITV Sport to become part of their punditry team for this summer’s Euro 2020.The 67-year-old – who regularly appears on Sky Sports to provide analysis on Premier League games – will be temporarily joining the broadcaster.
Graeme Souness will be working with ITV Sport as a pundit for Euro 2020 in the summerCredit: The Sun
As reported by the Daily Mail, the no-nonsense talking Scotsman will link up with ITV for the entirety of the tournament.
The delayed Euro 2020 competition starts on June 11 with Turkey’s Group A clash against Italy at Stadio Olimpico.
And the tournament finishes on July 11 at Wembley Stadium, with both ITV and BBC broadcasting the final live on terrestrial television.
Though the fixtures will be shared out between ITV and BBC, the former will be showing England’s last two group games against Scotland and Czech Republic.
And ITV will even have first pick of the semi-finals, with football fans to be seeing plenty of Souness’ straight-talking views.
It remains to be seen what other pundits Souness will be working alongside, though you can expect him to be part of a star-studded team.
With Souness to be working over the summer, the Liverpool icon believes right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will have time off as he stated he is unsure whether he will make the Three Lions squad.
Despite his match-winning strike against Aston Villa on Saturday, Souness said: “He has a place in the [Liverpool] team, predominantly to supply telling passes, telling crosses and he’s the best right-back in the country at doing that.

“Where he is vulnerable, especially this year, he’s not defending well, he’s not the same lad that we’ve seen the last two seasons, for whatever reason.
“He’s not got the comfort blanket of arguably the best centre-back [Virgil van Dijk] around playing next to him.
“He’s proved to be vulnerable this year. I think Gareth Southgate is in a difficult position with him.
“He sees [Kyle] Walker as his number one. If you’re going to play four [at the back] all the time, these are games that you can’t have one bad night, it can cost you everything.
“You’ve got to go for reliability, people who make the fewest mistakes and defensively that’s not Trent Alexander-Arnold this year.
“If you’d asked me this question 12 months ago, I’m saying ‘take him but now I’m not sure he’ll get on the plane.”

Now, one year on from that we are set for one of the best ever summers of jam-packed British sport as spectators return to whip up a frenzy.
It all kicks off on June 11 with the postponed Euro 2020 which is being played for the first time ever across 12 different European countries.
But the semi-finals and final of the tournament – which ends on July 11 – are scheduled to take place at Wembley Stadium, the first major international final at the ground for 25 years.
While the Euros are going on, there is also the small matter of Wimbledon returning for the first time in two years on June 28.
Incidentally, the final at the All England Club will be played on the same day as the conclusion of the Euros.
From June through to September a festival of cricket will also be taking place with England taking on Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a number of one-day internationals, before a five Test series with India.
And to top it all off, the inaugural edition of The Hundred gets underway in July.
In athletics there is the Diamond League Anniversary Games at the London Stadium, an event which takes place just five days before another huge day in Formula 1 with the British Grand Prix.

Man Utd transfer target Pedro Neto to miss rest of season and Euro 2020 with Wolves star needing surgery on knee injury

PEDRO NETO will miss the rest of the season because he needs surgery on a knee injury. That is also likely to rule the Wolves star out of the rearranged Euro 2020 tournament in the summer – as well as a potential £50million transfer to Manchester United.

The Portuguese forward, 21, was enjoying a fine season and looked on course to go to the Euros for the defending champions.
But he picked up the injury to his knee cap in the first half of Friday night’s 1-0 win away at Fulham.
Now the ex-Braga and Lazio winger is preparing to go under the knife in the coming days.
A Wolves statement said: “Pedro Neto suffered a significant injury to his patella [knee cap] during the match against Fulham.
“Following a review with a knee specialist in London at the weekend, surgery has been planned for later this week.
“Unfortunately he is not expected to return to play until next season.”
Neto wrote on Instagram: “Another obstacle that appears and that I will overcome as I did with every other.
“Difficult months to come, away from the place I like the most, but I will recover the best way to return stronger than ever… that’s guaranteed. Thank you all for the messages.”

Reports from JN in Portugal add he could be on the sidelines for up to six months.
Neto has five goals in 31 top-flight appearances for the Molineux side this term and has impressed many with his performances.
He earned his senior Portugal debut against Andorra last November, scoring in the 7-0 win.
The wideman featured in World Cup qualifying in March rather than at the Under-21 European Championships and was expected to be included in Fernando Santos’ squad.
Reports earlier in the season tipped Juventus to make a transfer swoop to take him back to Italy after two years in the West Midlands.

But in March SunSport revealed the Red Devils’ plans to make a £50m bid for the winger who is seen as an alternative to Jadon Sancho or Jack Grealish.
Ironically, United could have snapped Neto up for next to nothing when he went to Carrington for a trial in 2016, three years before his £16m switch to Wolves.
To make matters worse for Wolves chief Nuno Espirito Santo, he will be without Ruben Neves for a period after the midfielder tested positive for Covid-19 – one of two new cases in the Premier League in the latest round of testing.
Full-back Jonny will see a specialist over his own knee issue and will also go for an operation, Fernando Marcal is making progress after groin surgery while Raul Jimenez remains unavailable after his horror head injury.
Willy Boly should be back after self-isolating for the clash against Sheffield United on Saturday – pushed back to an 8.15pm kick-off to avoid clashing with the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

Will England vs Scotland be played with away fans and how will tickets be sold?

MEMORIES of Euro 96 will be rekindled as England take on Scotland at Wembley in Euro 2020.But will we see another trademark Tartan Army invasion of the English capital this summer?
The Tartan Army will hope to be able to travel in their thousands to WembleyCredit: Kenny Ramsay – The Sun Glasgow
Here’s all you need to know.
How many fans are allowed at England vs Scotland?
Each of the host nations had made a submission to Uefa, declaring the minimum amount of fans they will allow at Euro 2020.
For England, that figure is 25 per cent, meaning 22,500 fans are expected at Wembley as the Three Lions take on Scotland.
The UK government and the FA are hoping to raise their minimum capacity to at least 50 per cent later in the tournament, but this is only likely to happen in the semi-finals and finals.
Wembley is not one of the Euro 2020 venues to have offered to host away fansCredit: PA
Are away fans allowed at Euro 2020?
Only FOUR host nations have stated an intent to allow fans from abroad to attend games in their countries, and England is not one of them.
Azerbaijan, Russia, Hungary and Romania have all sent proposals to Uefa outlining ways in which they could exempt Euro 2020 fans from quarantine requirements.
England’s proposal means Croatia and Czech Republic fans would be unable to travel from overseas to watch their teams at Wembley, but this may not apply to Scotland.

Can Scotland fans attend England away?
As there is no border to cross for Scotland fans to enter England, the FA and Uefa are believed to have agreed that the Tartan Army can be given a 16 per cent allocation – as they would have been at a pre-Covid tournament.
That would mean an away attendance of 3,600 at Wembley for football’s oldest international fixture.
There would also be no restrictions on Scots in England buying tickets if they are able to acquire them through the regular sales process.
That means the real number of Scots at the home of football could be over four thousand.
How do I get England vs Scotland tickets and can I attend if I’ve already bought them?
Uefa will confirm ticketing details for all games in due course. More
