Is there a fantasy football game for Euro 2020? Is it free to play? Who are the best players?

EURO 2020 is fast approaching and fantasy football fanatics are keen to test their knowledge of the international game.Creating and managing a fantasy football team will enhance your enjoyment of the upcoming tournament – it also gives you a chance to get one over on your mates as you can compete in private mini-leagues.
The best fantasy football game to play this summer is DREAM TEAM EUROS – it’s completely free to play and has a £50,000 jackpot!
Cristiano Ronaldo will be popular with fantasy football managers once Euro 2020 gets underway
How do you play Dream Team Euros?
The premise will be familiar to many: pick the best possible XI from the players participating in Euro 2020 without exceeding a set budget – £50million to be exact.Once we’re underway, you’ll have 20 transfers to use throughout the tournament to react to the unfolding drama.
Has Timo Werner suddenly remembered how to shoot? Get him in! Did North Macedonia really just beat Netherlands 7-0? Quick, swap Virgil van Dijk for some bloke you’ve never heard of in your life!
Your players will score points based on their performances with goalkeepers and defenders mainly benefiting from clean sheets while the best midfielders and forwards will be the ones banging in the goals.
There’s also points for assists, hat-tricks, match ratings of 7+ – supplied by WhoScored – and the player with the highest match rating once the dust has settled will also be named Star Man – an accolade that earns them an additional five points.
World Cup holders France are among the favourites to triumph at Euro 2020
    When does it start?
You can sign-up for Dream Team Euros from May 13th – click here to visit the site or download the Dream Team app (Android users may need to follow these instructions).
You’ll be able to pick a prototype XI before team entry opens on May 21st – if your prototype team is revealed to be over budget you’ll have to shuffle the pack until it’s valid but don’t worry, you can make as many changes as you want before the tournament gets underway.
Scoring starts once the first game kicks off, which is Turkey v Italy at 8pm on June 11th, and finishes after the final on July 11th.
You can still enter a team after the first match has kicked off but you won’t get any points for the games that have already taken place or started – it’s best to settle on starting XI before the first kick-off.
Harry Kane already has one Golden Boot at a major international tournament – could he fire England to glory this summer?
    Which players should you pick?
Goals are worth their weight in gold so you’ll want to include some Golden Boot favourites – Robert Lewandowksi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Kylian Mbappe all catch the eye but these big names will drain your budget so think carefully.
It’s a similar story in midfield, N’Golo Kante may be world-class at what he does but he doesn’t score many goals – the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Kevin De Bruyne are more likely to etch their names on the scoresheet.
At the back, you want a keeper and defenders capable of registering consistent clean sheets.
Belgium conceded just three goals in their qualifying campaign so perhaps Thibaut Courtois is a prime candidate? Sergio Ramos will be popular in defence but bear in mind, any player that gets sent off will be docked points…

What are the groups at Euro 2021?
Your strategy will likely depend on the fixtures. Players facing tough opponents are less likely to score points than those with a relatively easy ride – at least in theory.
With that in mind, here’s a reminder of the groups…
GROUP A: Italy, Turkey, Wales, Switzerland
GROUP B: Belgium, Denmark, Russia, Finland
GROUP C: Netherlands, Austria, Ukraine, North Macedonia
GROUP D: England, Croatia, Scotland, Czech Republic
GROUP E: Spain, Sweden, Poland, SlovakiaGROUP F: France, Portugal, Germany, Hungary
Good luck in that one, Hungary!
Belgium have serious firepower in the form of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne
How much does it cost to enter? Can you win money?
Dream Team Euros is completely free to play so there’s no reason not to get involved.
Not only that, the overall winner at the end of the tournament will win £50,000!
That’s right, your football knowledge could earn you a life-changing amount of money. More

Van Dijk rules himself OUT of Holland’s Euro 2020 squad to focus on recovering from injury and Liverpool pre-season

VIRGIL VAN DIJK ruled himself out of Euro 2020 as he continues to recover from injury. But the Liverpool and Holland defender is hoping to return to full training in pre-season.

Van Dijk suffered an ACL knee injury last October in the Merseyside derby against Everton.
And he has decided to set his sights on a return to action in 2021-22 instead of rushing the final part of his rehab to feature at the rearranged Euros.
The 29-year-old told the Liverpool club website: “In this latest stage for myself, I have come to a decision that I had to make: Would I be involved in the Euros, yes or no?
“With everything that is going on, I feel physically it is the right decision that I’ve decided not to go to the Euros and to go into my last phase of rehab during the off-season.
“So, the full focus will be on pre-season with the club and that’s a realistic goal, so I am looking forward to that.
“Obviously I am very gutted to miss the Euros, to miss the European Championship and leading out my own country there, but things have been like they have and I have to accept it – we all have to accept it.
“I think the decision to not go is the right decision in the grand scheme of things. It’s tough, but I’m at peace with it.
“When the season ends it doesn’t really end for me. I will train every day, keep training until pre-season starts.

“I want to be ready and I will do everything that is possible to get ready, which is normal.
“I will keep going no matter what. It’s all positive, I am very gutted to not be going to the Euros, but it is the right decision for this time and hopefully for the future as well.”
Van Dijk was clattered by Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and underwent reconstruction surgery in London seven months ago.
After two months to let the healing begin, he then headed to Dubai for an eight-week training camp to work with a physio and rebuild strength.
Now the defender is back in light training, running on grass and increasing ball work.
The new Premier League season gets underway on August 14 as Liverpool look to wrestle the trophy back from Manchester City.

Van Dijk added: “The surgeon is very happy with everything that is going on and, as I said, the good thing is I’ve not really had a setback so far and hopefully that will not happen.
“I think this decision has definitely been the right one, in my opinion, to give my body and my knee a little bit more extra time to get ready for hopefully a big, big 18 months, at least with the club but also with my country because we’re trying to go to the next tournament after this as well and that starts in September.”
In Van Dijk’s absence, his Liverpool team-mate Georginio Wijnaldum is expected to captain the Netherlands at Euro 2020.
Head coach Frank De Boer may opt for a centre-back pairing of Matthijs de Ligt and Nathan Ake.

Man City defender Aymeric Laporte could play for Spain at Euro 2020 after repeated France snubs

MANCHESTER CITY star Aymeric Laporte is reportedly set to play for Spain at the Euros after repeatedly being snubbed by France.Marca claims the centre-back, 26, is set to become a Spanish national this week.
Spain are set to select Aymeric Laporte for the Euros ahead of FranceCredit: Getty
And following pleas from boss Luis Enrique, Laporte will be selected for Spain’s Euro squad having never been capped by his country of birth.
The defender was born in Agen, France, but moved to Spain with Athletic Bilbao in 2010.
He spent eight years there before joining Manchester City in 2018 for £65million.
And Laporte has since gone on to become an important figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad, playing 111 times.
Despite having already won two Premier League titles, with a third surely on its way, Laporte has never been called up to France’s senior squad by Didier Deschamps.
He played 19 times for the U21s, with his last cap in 2016.
But Deschamps has never seen fit to give Laporte a go in his squad.
And the decision is now set to backfire with Spain ready to make Laporte one of their own.

It’s reckoned they’ve been keeping tabs on him for five years.
And following repeated snubs from France, Laporte is now ready to accept Spain’s call-up and be a part of their squad at the Euros.
It remains to be seen if he starts under Enrique, with Spain already boasting four top centre-backs including Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and outgoing Man City team-mate Eric Garcia.
But with squad numbers extended to 26 for this summer’s tournament, Laporte is now set to embark on a new international adventure at France’s expense.

Karim Benzema’s France Euro 2020 return hopes emphatically ended by Didier Deschamps as he says ‘I’m not Santa Claus’

KARIM BENZEMA will NOT be playing for France at the Euros.Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps killed any hope the Real Madrid striker had of appearing at the tournament and said: “I’m not Santa Claus.”

Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps quashed suggestions he was set for a return to the teamCredit: Reuters
Benzema, 33, hasn’t played for the reigning world champions since 2015 following his alleged role in a plot to blackmail Mathieu Valbuena.
Benzema is alleged to have been involved in a plan to blackmail the winger over an X-rated video on his mobile phone.
The striker is claimed to have acted as a middle-man, convincing Valbuena to deal with the blackmailers himself – with the now-Olympiacos man, 36, instead going to police.
Benzema’s lawyer, Sylvain Cormier, maintained the striker’s innocence in 2015, saying: “He played no part, I repeat no part, in any blackmail or attempted blackmail.”
The forward will reportedly go on trial in October, and many – including Arsenal legend and fellow Frenchman Arsene Wenger – had called for him to be recalled to the national team for Euro 2020.
But Deschamps was quick to quash such suggestions in an interview with Kicker.
Asked if he had any plans to include Benzema in his squad, the 52-year-old said: “I am not Santa Claus, I am not here to announce surprises.
“I am refining it little by little, I have players who, like [Corentin] Tolisso at Bayern, are still recovering, and I still do not have all the information about their status.

“I will release my list of players on May 18, but there will also be games after that. I will have players who will participate in the two finals of the European Cups.
“We have to hope that everything goes well, because unfortunately we cannot avoid the unexpected.
“The only list that matters is the one we send to UEFA on June 1 at midnight.”
Earlier this month, Rio Ferdinand revealed Sir Alex Ferguson was so desperate to sign Benzema he had to be pulled away from him.
The legendary Manchester United boss approached the Real Madrid striker when he was still at Lyon and officials from the Ligue 1 side were forced to intervene.
Speaking during Real’s Champions League semi-final defeat at Chelsea, Ferdinand recalled United’s last-16 tie against Lyon in 2008 in which Benzema scored.
He said on BT Sport: “The first time I played against him, Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to sign him.
“He was speaking to him in the tunnel after the game and Lyon officials had to pull him away. His movement that day was brilliant.”

And remember, Dream Team Euros is free to enter with a £50,000 jackpot for the overall winner – why not give yourself a chance of claiming a life-changing amount of money while having fun along the way?
Ciro Immobile could be a smart fantasy football selection this summer
Dream Team Euros is only open to those residing in the UK or Republic of Ireland. More

Premier League side Leeds and Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have been linked with the Welshman, who has also been on loan at Derby and Bournemouth.
And Wales boss Robert Page believes the Euro finals is a chance for Wilson to impress Klopp or future suitors.
Page said: “First and foremost , playing for your country is the best thing as a professional footballer.
“Then you have your individual reasons for wanting to do well, of course you do.
“We all want to play at the top and have the best careers we possibly can as players.
“If Harry has said that I absolutely get it. He doesn’t want to play Championship football for the rest of his career.

“From a selfish point of view he is going to want to have a good summer and put his name out there and be recognised. He is one of many who will have that same attitude.”
Wilson, capped 24 times by Wales, scored a hat-trick for Mick McCarthy’s Cardiff in the 4-0 win over Birmingham last weekend.
Last summer, Liverpool put a £20million price tag on Wilson, who has two years left on his Anfield contract.
