Ian Poulter spent £100k on Euro 2020 final tickets and made mad dash from Edinburgh… but couldn’t get into stadium

SUPER-PATRIOT Ian Poulter splashed out more than £100,000 to watch the Euro 2020 final – and was turned away by the stewards! He arrived midway through the second half after events at the Scottish Open wrecked his plans to be there for kick-off, and was only admitted for extra time and penalties.

Poulter flew down by private jet to Wembley from Edinburgh, after being forced to hang around because a stunning 63 saw him set the final round target at 17 under par.
He also had to endure a 90-minute weather delay before his score was finally beaten.
Poults had booked places in a private box for himself and son Luke, costing more than £50,000 apiece – although his £240,000 cheque for finishing joint fourth in Scotland will more than cover that outlay.
And before heading to St George’s for this week’s Open, Poulter took to Instagram to reveal the frustration of being locked out when he first arrived at Wembley.
He wrote: “What a crazy day. Tee off at 11.11 and shoot 8 under par 63 to hold the clubhouse lead for a long time.
“Weather delay keeps us from leaving the course and catching an all important flight to make the match.
“Finally when play resumed and one player had posted -18 we left for the plane.
“Netjets did what they do best and got me to the stadium for the second half.

F1 ace Lando Norris mugged for £40k watch at Wembley as fans ran riot

BRIT F1 ace Lando Norris, 21, had his £40,000 watch nicked at Wembley as fans ran riot.Wembley descended into a warzone at the Euro final — when 2,500 ticketless, drunken thugs stormed the stadium.

A Richard Mille RM 11-03 watch costing £40,000
Terrified families called security for the showpiece event a shambles, with fights breaking out around the ground.
Britain’s F1 ace Lando Norris was also mugged for his £40,000 watch after the game with Italy — England’s biggest since 1966.
Players’ families were caught up in skirmishes, children were    left in tears, a female security guard was trampled and a disabled entrance stormed.
Last night, there were calls for the FA, which owns Wembley stadium, to step up security, amid fears any bids to host future World Cups would be harmed.
Moments before kick-off on Sunday night, drunk hooligans surged through cordons, sparking chaos.
Fans who paid £900 and more for tickets then found yobs in their seats refusing to budge.
Friends and families of stars including captain Harry Kane, John Stones, Raheem Sterling and Harry Maguire also saw trouble unfold as dozens barged into their section.
A source said: “All the players had their kids in there. It was terrifying. The wives, girlfriends and children were all crying. There were a couple of fights.
⚽ Follow ALL of the latest news and updates from Euro 2020 with our live blog
“None of the relatives or friends had seen anything like this before. They arrived to find seats taken by fans without tickets. And they were rude and really aggressive.
“It got really nasty and was very upsetting. There were not enough stewards and no police in sight.”
Rugby star Mike Tindall, 42, and his royal wife Zara, 40, saw two men fighting near their seats — so the burly World Cup winner stepped in. One fan suffered a broken nose, with Princess Anne’s daughter Zara mopping up blood from her seat with a hankie.
A source said: “At least one of the fans didn’t have a ticket. Mike was trying to break up the fight.”
After the game, motor racing ace Lando was ambushed by yobs as he got into his £165,000 McLaren GT supercar. He was then grabbed by one while another tore off his prototype Richard Mille watch.
An eyewitness told The Sun: “Lando was held and another robber pulled off his watch in a split second. Lando looked pretty shaken up. Security had been a nightmare all night.”
He had earlier posted a photo of himself at the game for his 3.4million online followers. A spokesman for his McLaren team said he was “understandably shaken”.

England fans inside Wembley help to ‘eject’ people storming the gates
Security sources estimate thousands broke in without tickets.
One said: “Analysis of video footage shows around 2,500 ticketless yobs storming in. But, the fact is, the stadium is not policed because Wembley won’t pay the bill for it. Security is left to poorly paid stewards to deal with and they were totally overrun. Serious questions need to be asked.”
Thugs circulated pictures of match tickets and Covid-negative test barcodes before the kick-off to trick and overwhelm staff.
Once past Covid screens, they gathered in large groups and charged over barriers, knocking aside anyone in their path.
One video shows scores clambering through and sprinting to the entrance as a female steward falls screaming to the floor.
Another obtained by the Sun shows disabled access doors being breached by dozens of male and female gatecrashers.
A man was also seen being repeatedly kicked in the head and body after falling to the ground.
At one point, a frustrated fan turns on stewards standing by and shouts: “Do your f***ing job!”
Ex-footballer Lee Ebden, 37, now a consultant, took his 66-year-old dad John to the game, paying more than £800 each.
But they were shocked to see mobs storming a disabled entrance then found groups of ticketless fans all around them.
Lee, of Macclesfield, said: “I’ve never felt so scared or ashamed as I was at Wembley at what should have been a great night. The stewards and police completely lost control — to call it an horrendous shambles is a complete understatement. As I went through the turnstile, a bloke in an England shirt tried to squeeze in with me. They were all doing it.”
Tory MP Alec Shelbrooke warned of repercussions for future tournaments. He said: “Fifa will be watching these scenes carefully and taking a very dim view. I hope those who instigated it are met with the full force of the law.”

The Met Police reported at least 86 arrests in London, including 53 at Wembley, for ABH, drunk and disorderly behaviour and criminal damage. A total of 19 officers were also injured, with Police Federation chairman Ken Marsh calling the scenes a “national disgrace”.
Boris Johnson’s spokesman said: “Those scenes were unacceptable and we condemn violence, anti- social behaviour and abuse in the strongest possible terms.”
The FA said it would carry out a full review and apologised to law-abiding fans for the “unprecedented level of public disorder”. The Met promised to “actively pursue and investigate offenders”.
Final was a dangerous experienceENGLAND has a new generation of supporters — drunk on lager, crazed on cocaine and set on unleashing maximum violence.
What I witnessed on Wembley Way was like a trip back to the thuggery which dogged English teams in tournaments in the ’80s.
The launching of bottles and cans. Jumping on top of vans and stalls, trying to smash in roofs.
Then, finally and shamefully, the storming of the gates of the stadium — putting thousands of decent ticket-holding fans at risk.
Having attended hundreds of games at home and abroad, this was one of the most dangerous experiences I’ve had in football.
By 1pm, seven hours before kick-off, those on Wembley Way were putting their safety at risk.
The crossroads by the BoxPark was the first danger zone. Thousands were crammed in there, and nearly all thought it funny to send missiles of bottles and half-full lager cans through the air, seeing if they could take some unsuspecting soul down.
How they laughed, those idiots, climbing lampposts, lighting and throwing flares.
By 3pm, I witnessed thugs sniffing cocaine. Scores of bottles and cans fizzed through the air. Fights broke out down side roads. Families cowered and hurried by.
Up by the stadium, thousands were drinking, throwing and celebrating when others were hit.
The gates opened and all hell broke out. The disabled section inside the stadium suddenly filled with aggressive idiots. Punters were shoved out of their seats.
My memories of the biggest day in England’s football history for 55 years? Six hours outside full of menace, broken glass, bloodied bodies, fear among fans. Four hours inside of embattled stewards and frightened families.
And a relief that a real tragedy had not befallen us.

Kids’ football coach denies sending racist tweet to Marcus Rashford and claims his account was hacked

The dad-of-two from Powick, Worcestershire, also denied sending a sickening homophobic tweet aimed at the England women’s football team.
Vile trolls targeted Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho after England were beaten on penalties in last night’s agonising final.
A tweet from Scott’s Twitter account Scottywwfc said: “Marcus Rashford that MBE needs burning ya fake.
“Pack them bags and get to ya own country.”
    ‘HACKED’
The tweet was posted just minutes after Manchester United striker Rashford, 23, missed from the spot in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out.
Scott denied being responsible for the sick tweets when approached at his home in Powick, Worcs.
The Wolves fan told Sun Online: “I didn’t send it mate – I’ve been hacked. “I didn’t post it.
“The first I learned about it was this morning when I woke up. I’m seeing my solicitor in the morning. I don’t know who hacked me.”

Asked who was responsible for a homophobic tweet from August, 2020 in which Scott’s account suggested a “fat d***” should coach the England women’s team, Scott replied: “Mate – my Twitter has been hacked. Simple.”
Another tweet from his account at 12.43am this morning said: “I need to apologise Marcus Rashford but im still very angry. but not with you.”
Scott has a YouTube page and describes himself as an “Away Day Videographer” following Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A Wolves spokesman tonight tweeted that they had been alerted to “a racist tweet sent by a Wolves ‘fan’ last night” and had reported it to police.
    RACIST ABUSE
It comes as Boris Johnson tonight told racists who targeted England players after their Euro 2020 defeat to “crawl back under their rock”.
Earlier, estate agents Savills suspended a worker after racist abuse targeting England players was sent from his Twitter account.
A post from Andrew Bone’s Twitter account branded the players the N word and claimed the England stars had “ruined it for us” after the loss.
Estate agents Savills confirmed Bone was being investigated over the tweets this morning – before later adding he had since been suspended.
But Bone’s family today claimed to The Sun that his account had been hacked – and he had reported the matter to police.
They also claimed Bone is “not racist” and shut down his accounts when he began receiving messages late last night.
For some of the players to be abused is unforgivable, really.England boss Gareth Southgate
At a press conference today England boss Gareth Southgate lashed out at racists who targeted his players with vile online abuse.
He said: “For some of them to be abused is unforgivable, really.
“I know a lot of that has come from abroad. People that track those things have been able to explain that .
“But not all of it, and it’s just not what we stand for.
“We, I think, have been a beacon of light in bringing people together.”

Tonight, England star Tyrone Mings slammed Home Secretary Priti Patel for “stoking the fire” after Three Lions players received racial abuse.
It came after the Prime Minister took aim at the racists, saying: “Shame on you.
“I hope you crawl back under the rock from which you emerged.”

England star Tyrone Mings slams Priti Patel for ‘stoking the fire’ after she said she’s ‘disgusted’ by racist trolls’

ENGLAND star Tyrone Mings has slammed Priti Patel for “stoking the fire” after Three Lions players received racial abuse after the loss to Italy. The centre-back said the Home Secretary could not “pretend to be disgusted” by the vile abuse because she had previously advocated against players taking the knee before kick-off.

Last month, Ms Patel accused England players who took the knee of performing “gesture politics”Credit: PA
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka, who all failed from the spot on Sunday night as England went down on penalties, were targeted with racist comments on social media shortly afterwards.
Last month, Ms Patel accused England players who took the knee of performing “gesture politics”, adding: “I just don’t support people participating in that type of gesture”.
She did not condemn the small minority of fans who had chosen to boo the gesture, telling GB News it was a “choice for them”.
Last night Ms Patel said she was “disgusted” that black England players had been subject to “vile racist abuse” after the penalty shootout defeat.
She added: “It has no place in our country and I back the police to hold those responsible accountable.”
But Mings hit back tonight: “You don’t get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as ‘Gesture Politics’ & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing we’re campaigning against, happens.”
In a string of tweets, the Aston Villa star said he was “so proud of everyone” who had “contributed to the joy and togetherness this team has bought to millions”.
Mings responded to Priti Patel’s tweet condemning the racist abuseCredit: @OfficialTM_3/Twitter
But he added: “Waking up today and seeing my brothers being racially abused for being brave enough to put themselves in a position to help this country, is something that sickens, but doesn’t surprise me.
“We have literally made history. We’ve gone where no one else has gone. Take that in.”
Johnny Mercer, a former minister, tonight waded into the debate and said Mings was “completely right”.
He tweeted: “Very uncomfortable with the position we Conservatives are needlessly forcing ourselves into.
“Do I fight it or stay silent? Modern Conservatism was always so much more to me. We must not lose our way.”
    ‘WE STAND WITH YOU KINGS’
American rapper P Diddy also showed his support for Sancho, Rashford and Saka tonight.
He wrote: “We stand with you Kings. Proud of all your efforts on and off the field and we will always support you. Continue to inspire. Love.
“And to the racists…. F*** you!”
The PM, the Duke of Cambridge and the FA have all condemned the abuse, while England manager Gareth Southgate described the hate directed at the players as “unforgivable”.
And The UK Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) has launched an investigation into the racist abuse targeted at players online and said it is working to trace and identify the perpetrators.
We’ve gone where no one else has gone. Take that inTyrone Mings
Separately, the Metropolitan Police said they had also launched an investigation into the “utterly abhorrent and totally unacceptable” reports of online abuse.
Ms Patel’s comments on taking the knee marked a diversion from those of the PM, who said last month that he “fully respects the right of those who do choose to peacefully protest to make their feelings known”.
Asked if Mr Johnson backs players taking the knee, a Number 10 spokesman said: “Yes. The Prime Minister respects the right of all people to peacefully protest and make their feelings known about injustices.
“The Prime Minister wants to see everybody getting behind the team to cheer them on, not boo.”
Earlier, estate agents Savills suspended a worker after racist abuse targeting England players was sent from his Twitter account.

A post from Andrew Bone’s Twitter account branded the players the N word and claimed the England stars had “ruined it for us” after the loss.

But Bone’s family today claimed to The Sun that his account had been hacked – and he had reported the matter to police.
The Sun has contacted Patel for comment.

Jorginho’s agent confirms Juventus transfer interest and says Chelsea star will listen to offers from big clubs

When asked about the 29-year-old’s future, Santos told Calciomercato: “I confirm it, these interests have arrived.
“Of course, at 29 he can do very well in all the top European clubs and many are interested in him.”
Jorginho still has two years left on his Blues contract and Santos revealed he would like to see out the remainder of his deal.
After helping the Blues win the Champions League trophy against Manchester City last season, the Italian still has the World Club Championship and European Super Cup to tick off his list.
But despite his aspirations, Santos admitted that if a major club puts the right offer on the table then he and his client will be all ears.
He added: “He has a two-year contract, and it’s all in the hands of the club.
“There is the World Club Championship, there is the European Super Cup.
“For a footballer these are important goals. But, the transfer market is always the transfer market and if a major club comes forward seriously with Chelsea then we will evaluate.
“At the moment, Jorginho will play it at Chelsea next season.”

There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding Jorginho’s future recently following his stellar performances in Italy’s journey to triumph in Euro 2020.
But the Blues ace is said to be ready to snub the advances of the interested parties and hash out a new deal with Thomas Tuchel’s side.
That was before the Azzuri trumped England to the European trophy in a tense 3-2 penalty shoot-win after a tight 1-1 draw in normal time last night.
Jorginho could be in for a frosty reception when he returns to the Premier League after he poked fun at England by singing ‘It’s coming to Rome’ after Italy’s victory.
Despite his theatrics, the ex-Napoli star struggled to impose himself on the pitch.

His only chance to make an impact in the game came in the shoot-out but his attempt was thwarted by the sensational Three Lions stopper Jordan Pickford.
The Everton No1 went on to win the tournament’s Golden Glove after his heroic stop.
The 27-year-old kept five clean sheets during the tournament, two more than Italian stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

England fans start petitions to get ‘unfair’ Euro 2020 final REPLAYED and claim Italy’s Chiellini should have seen red

DESPERATE England fans have started petitions to have the Euro 2020 final against Italy REPLAYED after claiming Giorgio Chiellini should have been sent off.The brave Three Lions eventually fell to a 3-2 penalty shootout defeat in the Euro 2020 final against Italy with the sides locked at 1-1 after extra-time.
Some England fans have called the match officials biased for failing to send off Chiellini for his cynical foul on SakaCredit: AP
But a number of disgruntled fans have set up petitions demanding the match be replayed due to the ‘biased’ referee.
Late in the game, Italy captain Chiellini, 36, grabbed substitute Bukayo Saka by the collar and threw him to the ground to prevent a breakaway attack.
Chiellini was shown yellow by referee Bjorn Kuipers for the cynical foul, with the defender knowing he’d never catch up with the lightning-quick Arsenal teenager – nearly half his age at just 19.
But a number of England supporters believe denying Saka the attack and failing to send off the savvy Italian veteran was ‘unfair’ – despite the fact it didn’t appear to be denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Numerous desperate petitions have now surfaced online insisting the game should be replayed.
One petition description read: “Bukayo Saka was mistreated during the match between England and Italy.
“He was dragged down by his shirt by Giorgio Chiellini and given a yellow card when it CLEARLY should’ve been a red card.
“I do strongly believe that the referee was biased and in favour of Italy.”

However, it seems the majority of England fans have ignored the petitions.
Of the five seen online, the most-signed has just 1,500 backers.
Meanwhile, some England supporters have been left outraged by another refereeing decision in the final – an apparent handball in the build-up to Italy’s equaliser.
Luke Shaw had given the Three Lions the lead within two minutes of the game at Wembley, only for Leonardo Bonucci to scramble home an equaliser midway through the second half.
But some fans were adamant Bryan Cristante handballed in the build up to Bonucci’s slotting home.
In truth, the ball appeared to hit the substitute’s shoulder – but England fans were still not impressed.
