Pogba, 28, got his campaign with France off to a flyer last night, as Les Bleus defeated Germany 1-0 in Munich.
The midfielder’s performance earned him the man of the match award, a fact not unnoticed by Fernandes.
While watching Pogba’s post-match interview on TV Fernandes, 26, took to Instagram to stoke the friendly fire.
He wrote: “Happy for you, but MVP only today.”
Fernandes followed his message with the ‘eyes’ emoji, before tagging Pogba.
The attacking midfielder himself got off to a good start with defending champions Portugal, beating Hungary 3-0.
But it wasn’t all plain sailing.
Fernando Santos’ side took 84 minutes to break down the stubborn hosts in front of a raucous crowd in Budapest.

Raphael Guerreiro finally broke the deadlock, before Cristiano Ronaldo added a late double.
France then took on Germany later that evening.
Pogba produced a sensational pass in the build-up to Mats Hummels’ own goal and looked his best alongside N’Golo Kante and Adrien Rabiot.
The French take on Hungary on Saturday afternoon, before Portugal face Germany.
Pogba and Fernandes will then do battle next Wednesday at Ferenc Puskas Stadium in Budapest.

How England could line-up against Scotland in Euro 2020 blockbuster clash as Jack Grealish may return to starting XI

ENGLAND finally won their first-ever European Championship opener with victory over Croatia on Sunday. But there’s no time to crack open the bubbly just yet with a monster showdown with Scotland on the horizon.
How England could line up against Scotland on Friday
The Three Lions take on their biggest rivals in the second group stage game, with the Scots slipping to a 2-0 defeat against Czech Republic in their curtain-raiser.
But for Gareth Southgate, he has yet another selection dilemma on his hands.
Among the biggest talking points ahead of the 1-0 win over Croatia was the omission of Jack Grealish and Luke Shaw, with Jadon Sancho and Ben Chilwell not even in the squad.
With five days between the first and second games, Southgate may well run the same XI against Scotland to maintain some level of consistency.
But the Scots will pose a different challenge to contend with.
Jordan Pickford is a shoo-in to start in goal, with Dean Henderson ruled out of the tournament, leaving inexperienced Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale on the bench.
Kyle Walker started at right-back in a four-man defence against Croatia and is likely to keep his place.
John Stones and Tyrone Mings looked rock-solid on Sunday and are set to continue their partnership with Harry Maguire not yet fully fit, despite returning to training.

Another way Southgate could send out his squad vs Scotland

Kieran Trippier was a shock selection at left-back for Southgate, but he could miss out against Scotland.
The Atletico Madrid man was deployed partly for his set-piece ability but also to keep Croatia star and club-mate Sime Vrsaljko quiet down that flank.
With Scotland posing less of a threat up the right, attack-minded Shaw could start after his stellar season for Manchester United.
Southgate is almost certain to deploy the same midfield three after Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips and Mason Mount dominated Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic and Marcelo Brozovic at Wembley.
And the England boss would be hard-pushed to tweak his front three after their impressive showing on Sunday.
Raheem Sterling was a surprise starter in place of red-hot Grealish.
But the Manchester City star time and time again got in good positions and could have had more than his one goal but for some wasteful finishing.
Harry Kane is a certainty to lead the line all tournament, barring injury or suspension.
And Phil Foden is already becoming undroppable after a glittering performance against Croatia, in which he hit the post after just five minutes following some glorious skill and a curling, placed left-footed effort.
Grealish could come in almost anywhere across the midfield and attack, but Sterling would be the most likely to drop out should Southgate decide to make a change.

How Group D looks after one game with Czech Republic and England getting off to winning starts
The Aston Villa skipper was in scintillating form during England’s warm-up wins over Austria and Romania.
His ability to win free-kicks could also prove vital during the tournament.
Elsewhere, Ben Chilwell will also be vying for a spot at left-back after a strong season for Chelsea.
However, his snub from the squad to face Croatia suggest he’s seen as a back-up to Trippier and Shaw.
Trippier could replace Walker at right-back is Shaw is brought in on the left, although Reece James will hope to play a role during this summer.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will hope to earn a few more minutes on the bench in order to keep Kane fit.
Marcus Rashford, Sancho and Bukayo Saka are set to be deployed as impact subs this summer and are unlikely to start against Scotland.
In midfield, Jude Bellingham excelled in just ten minutes against Croatia and will hope to enjoy even more game-time against Scotland.
But for Phillips’ excellent game on Sunday, Bellingham would likely be starting for England this summer, with Jordan Henderson – now back from injury – hoping to play a part.

Paul Pogba says Antonio Rudiger did BITE him as France beat Germany – but Man Utd star adds ‘it was nothing big’

PAUL POGBA insisted France have the hunger for Euro glory – after being on the wrong end of a naughty nibble by Antonio Rudiger.Pogba was star man as the favourites got off to a winning start thanks to Mats Hummels’ comedy own goal.
Paul Pogba said Germany star Antonio Rudiger did BITE him during France’s win
French ace Pogba claimed it was ‘nothing big’ and that the pair talked after the gameCredit: Getty
But he was also at the centre of a bizarre first half incident when German centre back Rudiger appeared to have a little chomp at his shoulder.
It was a world away from when Luis Suarez took a bite at Georgio Chiellini in the 2014 World Cup, yet still serious enough for the French midfielder to complain to ref Carlos Del Carro Grande.
Pogba – ironically a pal of the Chelsea defender – revealed: “It was nothing big. You saw the television pictures and it is all over now, in the past.
“He nibbled a little bit and I felt it so I told the ref but I am not crying for a yellow or a red card.
“Me and Toni have known each other for a long time and I just want to play football.
“He has not received any card and I don’t want him suspended because of that situation. We hugged at the end and it is over.”
Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira had said “it looked like a bite” during the half-time break on ITV.
But former Manchester United skipper Roy Keane disagreed with his old enemy and played down the incident, describing it as: “More of a nibble than a bite.”

Pogba is more intent on seeing France live up to their billing as favourites to add the Euros to the World Cup they won three years ago – and he knows they rode their luck at times.
He added: “We want to play a big tournament and need to be focused. We have to show our status as world champions, but also be humble and work hard.
“All in all we worked well, it was a good team performance and we did a good job today.”
France had goals by Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema disallowed for hair’s breadth offside calls – yet manager Didier Deschamps said he was never worried they would blow it.

Deschamps said: :That is a very good German team that caused us many problems and we could have done some thjings a lot better, especially in possession.
“But we showed great attitude, great commitment and that gives me a great sense of security – I was not worried.
“I know what this team is capable of so I didn’t worry because we didn’t really have big problems tonight.”

German boss Joachim Low was not too downcast, but insisted his team have to show a more deadly streak.
He said: “You don’t get a lot of chances against France and we were not clinical enough.
“We showed great eagerness but the only thing we didn’t manage to do was score. – we have to work on this.”

Team news, injury updates, latest odds for Turkey vs Wales as Dragons look to keep Euros campaign on track

WALES will be looking to build on their 1-1 draw against Switzerland as they take on Turkey in a crucial group A fixture. The Dragons rescued a valuable point against an impressive Switzerland side thanks to Kieffer Moore’s glancing header in Baku – and will feel Turkey are there for the taking after their 3-0 capitulation against Italy.
Kieffer Moore heads home to rescue a point for Wales
Robert Page’s side will be returning to the Baku Olympic Stadium for a second time, and you can catch all the action on BBC ONE at 5pm this afternoon.
    What’s the form?
The Dragons have had somewhat mixed form of late and despite clinching victories in their lead-up games to Euro 2020 against Mexico (1-0) and the Czech Republic (1-0) – Wales are now on a three-game winless streak that includes a draw with Albania.
However, thanks to a 74th minute equaliser by Kieffer Moore, Wales will be full of hope going into what is a must win for both sides.
Turkey, their Italy dismantling aside, have proven exceptionally hard to beat in recent months and have lost just four times in their 27 games since boss Senol Gunes took charge for a second time.
The Crescent-Stars will take confidence from their positive run of results before their recent loss having recorded big wins against the Netherlands (4-2) and Norway (3-0).

    Who’s in and who’s out?
Neither side have any reported injury concerns from their first games of Euro 2020.
However despite Wales’ attack picking itself with trio Gareth Bale, Dan James and Switzerland goal-scorer Moore, Dragons boss Page could opt for changes in defence and midfield.
For Turkey, top scorer in qualifying Cenk Tosun is missing with a serious knee injury, so the experienced Burak Yilmaz will expect to lead the line once more.
Gunes may be tempted to switch up his starting XI after a disappointing and quite cumbersome opening contest against Italy with the likes of Leicester loanee Cengiz Under pushing to start.

    Watch out for…
Aaron Ramsey. The Welsh midfielder enjoyed a solid display in their opener against Switzerland and was named in the ‘Team of the Tournament’ five years ago at Euro 2016.
The 30-year-old created more big chances than any other player (five) and his midfield wizardry will be needed if Wales are to follow Italy’s lead and expose the likes of Caglar Soyuncu and Merih Demiral.
    If the game’s rubbish
Enjoy delving into Bale’s lavish lifestyle – including a mansion where he’s built his own private golf course.
The Real Madrid superstar’s childhood sweetheart Emma Rhys-Jones will likely be cheering on from the stands in Baku, along with their three kids Alba, Nava and Axel.

Team news, injury updates, latest odds for Italy vs Switzerland as Azzurri look to put one foot in Euros last 16

ITALY will be looking to carry on from their perfect start to the Euros against Turkey in their second group A match against Switzerland.
The Azzurri go into this game knowing that a win will book their place in the last 16, regardless of results elsewhere.

Breel Embolo celebrates putting the Swiss 1-0 up against WalesCredit: Getty
Italy will have home advantage once again in Rome and you can watch all the action live at 8pm on ITV1.
    What’s the form?
Italy boss Roberto Mancini has been front and centre of an Italian resurgence that saw the Azzurri win all eight of their Euro 2020 qualifying games.
They have since continued that form with nine wins and three draws and most damming of all – have not lost a game since 2018 to make it a remarkable 24 games unbeaten.
Switzerland on the other hand are an improving nation that have reached the knockout stages in their last three major tournaments, including advancing to the last 16 five years back at Euro 2016.
The Swiss outplayed group A rivals Wales in their Euro 2020 opener on Friday but were made to settle for a draw after a late equaliser.

    Who’s in and who’s out?
Marco Verratti is the only player short of fitness in the Azzurri squad and there will be no need to rush him back into contention.
There have been some changes in personnel, with both Inter Milan’s Stefano Sensi and Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini withdrawing due to injury, being replaced by Atalanta’s Matteo Pessina and Fiorentina’s Gaetano Castrovilli.
However, there is no such reason to change the playing eleven that performed admirably on matchday 1.
Switzerland boss Vladimir Petkovic is most likely to stick with the same XI that started against Wales.
The Borussia Monchengladbach quartet of Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo will be crucial, while Premier League duo Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri will be equally as important.

    Watch out for…
Ciro Immobile. The Lazio marksman bagged one goal last time out against Turkey and could have had a couple more.
The 31-year-old equalled the record for the most number of Serie A goals (36) during the 2019-20 season and subsequently won the European Golden Boot ahead of Robert Lewandowski (34).
The striker has had what you could consider a slight dip in form this season – but has still netted 25 goals across all competitions with his club.
    If the game’s rubbish…
See if you can spot the stunning Italian sports presenter Diletta Leotta, who has over 7.8million instagram followers.
Leotta uploaded a story on instagram of her and her boyfriend in the stands during Italy’s opener against Turkey on Friday – so there’s every chance she’ll be there tonight.

Team news, injury updates, latest odds for Finland vs Russia as local rivals go head-to-head in Euros

FINLAND will be aiming to carry on the momentum following their their bittersweet win over Denmark. They travel to the Krestovsky Stadium to take on neighbouring rivals Russia on match day two.
Finland celebrated a famous underdog victory over Denmark in their opening game but the match was marred by Christian Eriksen’s collapseCredit: EPA
Russia endured a nightmare night against Belgium as they lost 3-0 in Saint PetersburgCredit: Rex
The Finns survived a Denmark onslaught to win 1-0 thanks thanks to a second half goal from Joel Pohjanpalo.
Russia will be looking to bounce back following their horrendous start after a 3-0 thumping against Belgium and you can watch all the action from St Petersburg on BBC One at 2pm today.
    What’s the form?
Finland’s victory over the Danes saw Markku Kanerva’s side end a six-game winless run across all competitions – as well as bouncing back from two friendly defeats before the Euros kicked off.
Much was made as to whether it was right to continue play after Denmark’s Christian Eriksen suffered from cardiac arrest in the opening first minutes.
However, upon hearing the reassuring news that the 29-year-old was in a stable condition after being carried away to hospital – both teams are said to have elected to continue play before Finland emerged as victors.
Russia meanwhile failed to lay a glove on Belgium in their opening fixture and can be releieved that it wasn’t more than the 3-0 it ended up.
Cherchesov’s side were never expected to spring a surprise against Belgium on their own turf – however they cannot afford another no show.

    Who’s in and who’s out?
Finland’s Sauli Vaisanen had to be withdrawn from the tournament before their win over Denmark due to injury, while defender Nikolai Alho is slightly doubtful as he battles a reported ankle sprain.
No reported injuries were made during their clash against the Danes so the Fins could opt to start the exact same XI against Russia.
Russia on the other hand will be without veteran defender Yuri Zhirkov due to a calf injury sustained right before half time in their clash against Belgium, whilst Daler Kuzyaev will defintely miss out after a nasty clash of heads with Timothy Castagne.
There is some good news though with much optimism over the fitnesses of Igor Diveev and Fyodor Kudryashov.

    Who to watch out for
Russia’s Artem Dzyuba. The Zenit St.Petersburg striker has netted 26 goals for club and country already this season and at 6ft 4in, will surely provide much discomfort for Finland’s back-line.
Norwich journeyman Teemu Pukki will be the one to watch for Finland and will be encouraged by the room Russia gave the Belgian strikers.
    If the game’s rubbish…
Go back and watch what Finland fans did whilst Christian Eriksen was receiving medical help.
Finland supporters were filmed shouting the name ‘Christian’ and the Danish fans completed it by chanting ‘Eriksen’.
Here’s a video of the scenes:

Finnish fans also threw flags towards the players huddling over Eriksen to provide the player privacy whilst receiving treatment, which has received worldwide praise.

Roy Keane mocked by ITV pundits over ‘captain’s armband’ jumper worn for France’s Euro 2020 win over Germany

THEY think it’s pullover… but it’s not now.Manchester United legend Roy Keane refreshed his legendary battle of the skippers with Arsenal icon Patrick Vieira… by wearing a jumper with four captain’s stripes as he sat next to him in the ITV studio.
Roy Keane’s expression might be saying all you need to know about his intentions in wearing his striped top, but he faced stick from fellow pundit Ian Wright

Fellow pundit Ian Wright mocked Keane over his odd outfit live on air after France’s 1-0 win over Germany.
And social media also pounced on the former Ireland hardman’s sartorial signal, many labelling it a “powerplay”.
Keane had clearly kept his gesture up his sleeve as Vieira had no answer of his own, as he donned more traditional garb of an open-neck shirt and suit jacket.
But Wrighty launched in: “Roy had to keep his armband on his jumper… letting us know he’s the captain.”
Twitter also quickly cottoned on to Keane’s jumper jape, as he clearly failed to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes.
One armchair viewer got straight to the point: “Roy Keane wears four captain’s armbands to show Patrick Vieira who is in charge.”
Another said: “What a power move against Vieira.”
Similar offerings included: “I like how Roy Keane’s got a captain’s armband printed on his pullover just to show everybody who’s the boss.”
But if Vieira felt Keane was having a little nibble at him, then imagine how fellow Frenchman Paul Pogba must have felt.

Germany and Chelsea defender star Antonio Rudiger appeared to have a nibble of Frenchman Paul Pogba’s back
CASINO SIGN UP OFFER: GET £10 FREE BONUS WITH NO DEPOSIT REQUIRED

Gemany defender Antonio Rudiger seemed to CHEW the United midfielder’s back in an astonishing first-half incident caught on camera.
And unlike on the field, where Keane’s steely expression matched his tough tackling, the ex-Sunderland manager seemed wrong-footed by Wrighty’s verbal assault on his wacky wardrobe choice.
So perhaps on reflection Keane will accept his attire deserved to be shown a red cardi.

Raheem Sterling reveals meditation is secret behind England heroics and insists he knew ‘dream’ moment would come

THERE is a sense of calm about Raheem Sterling — and a sense of destiny, too.The Manchester City winger has been using nightly meditation sessions to block out the noise surrounding his club future and debate over his place in England’s starting line-up.
Raheem Sterling’s dream came true when he scored for England against Croatia
And after scoring England’s winner against Croatia at Wembley — 500 yards from the house where he grew up — Sterling is adamant that his first tournament goal was nothing more than he’d expected.
There had been a clamour for Gareth Southgate to axe Sterling in favour of Jack Grealish after a dodgy run of form for City — but the England boss stayed loyal and was repaid in style.
And Sterling sounds thoroughly chilled with life inside England’s camp.
He said: “I’ve been meditating. I’m doing a little bit of meds before I go to sleep to get relaxed.
“Just taking time out, being thankful and grateful for the day. Just trying to get connected. On the whole, not a lot of us get connected to our bodies and our brains so I am trying to get everything as one, connected, and be in a good place.”
And then there’s that idea that fate had decreed Sterling would score at his old boyhood manor.
He said: “It is something that I knew would happen, to be honest with you. I always had faith that I would do something with England at Wembley, score in a tournament.
“I have always dreamt of that and to actually, finally, say I’ve done it, that is a real dream come true.
    Royal Ascot special 🏇🎩

“I used to come home from training when I was at QPR, the bus journey back home, walking to my house and seeing the stadium literally being built.
“It was like, ‘It is possible — one day I will play there’. And the more I started to achieve, the more I started to believe.”
Sterling had to snub his mum, Nadine, when she rang him in the dressing room after Sunday’s winner.
He said: “Directly after the game, my mum was calling my phone when I was still in the dressing room.
“I was like, ‘Listen, I haven’t got time at the minute, I will call you back when I am on the bus’.
“When I am in the dressing room, I’m getting a massage . . . I can’t be FaceTiming my mum at that point.
“I spoke to her for a little bit and then friends and my missus, and had some really nice messages.”
Sterling’s mum, Nadine, called Raheem after he scored the winner against Croatia
These Euros are Sterling’s fourth tournament and the City man is the most-capped player in Southgate’s squad, with 62 appearances.
And he says he is using his experience to stamp out any panic among England’s tournament rookies. Sterling, 26, said: “Going into games, I think the players that have been at tournaments before are probably used to what they are going into.
“It is about trying to get that calmness in the dressing room.
“And on the pitch as well. When there are little moments of panic, trying to be the one to get us calm and get us back into a place where we are focused on the game, that is what the players who have been to a few tournaments can help with.”
Sterling claims England have a better squad than that which reached the semi-finals of the last World Cup — “100 per cent, in every area.”
And he insists that competition from the likes of Grealish have sharpened his game.
He said: “Competition is good in any walk of life. In a job in an office, if you have someone breathing down your neck, you have got to do even better.
“At the same time it is healthy competition — there is no malice, no bad blood. Everyone wants the same objective: to do well for their country.”
Sterling is refusing to consider Friday’s battle with the Auld Enemy, Scotland, as anything other than just another match, despite the historic rivalry between the two nations.
He said: “For me, it is going to be another game.
“In football you can’t get too drawn into the history, you have got to be focused on the task ahead — and the task ahead is to get three points.

“We can’t be going in there fighting old battles, we’ve got to be really concentrated.”
Although Sterling did enjoy Patrik Schick’s 50-yard wondergoal against the Scots in their 2-0 defeat by the Czech Republic on Monday.
He said: “The second goal was beautiful. A top finish.”
