Not even Cristiano Ronaldo could get past Euros security guard without showing his ID
A quick glance saw the 36-year-old carry on down the tunnel before Portugal played Hungary in their opening game.
The reigning champions left it late as they kicked off their campaign with a 3-0 win.
Raphael Guerreiro opened the scoring on 84 minutes before Ronaldo’s double put the result beyond doubt.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid man made headlines before the game after he removed Coca-Cola bottles at a press conference table.
He instead shouted ‘drink water’ in a move which saw the soft drink company lose $4BILLION in value.
On the pitch, Ronaldo celebrated becoming the European Championships all-time top scorer with 11 goals.
Gary Neville, who spent six years with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner at Old Trafford, led the tributes.
He said on ITV: “It’s an obscene record. I mean, 106 goals for his country is absolutely ridiculous.

    THAT’S ALL FROM ROME!
Italy enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 victory over Switzerland at the Olimpico, which sealed qualification for Euro 2020’s Round of 16.
The Azzurri thought they broke the deadlock when captain Giorgio Chiellini picked a corner-kick from Lorenzo Insigne in the air and fired it behind Yann Sommer’s goal after the ball bounced back to his feet.
However, VAR ruled that Chiellini’s arm hit the ball before he scored and things got worse for the Juventus star as he hobbled off the pitch with a muscle injury soon after.
However, Manuel Locatelli opened the scoring on 26 minutes when he found Domenico Berardi down the right flank with a wonderful ball from midfield.
Berardi delivered a stunning low cross to the penalty area where Locatelli was after running the whole distance from midfield and beat Sommer with a wonderful finish.
The Sassuolo star completed a brace after 52 minutes and became Italy’s third youngest ace to score two goals in a single game of a major tournament.
Ciro Immobile then sealed his country’s big win with a long-range shot that Sommer couldn’t hold on to in the 89th minute.
That’s all from us here at SunSport, have a lovely night!

    BERARDI REACTS
Italy star Domenico Berardi praised Sassuolo team-mate Manuel Locatelli and the rest of the group after the big win against Switzerland.
Berardi said: “Manu [Locatelli] and I know each other very well. He was smart to give me the ball and carry on the run. I am happy for him, he had a great game.
“This group is fantastic, we fought to the end and brought home three fundamental points.
“Training during the week, we get to know each other well. We’ve got so many good strikers, [Lorenzo] Insigne, [Ciro] Immobile, but also [Federico] Chiesa, [Andrea] Belotti and [Federico] Bernardeschi. We’re very happy.
“We must try to give 100 per cent in every game. It’s another important test coming up and we will aim to win that too”
    GETTY IMAGES
    CIR-FUL ENDING
Lazio star Ciro Immobile scored a wonderful goal for Italy against Switzerland on 89 minutes.
Immobile fired a wonderful left-footed shot that put the cherry on top of a dominant night.
Of course, Yann Sommer should have done better there as the ball slipped though his hands.
    Check it out:

    LOCATELLI REACTS
Italy star Manuel Locatelli insists his Man of the Match performance comes down to the whole team and doesn’t stress Marco Verratti’s imminent return to full fitness.
Locatelli told RAI Sport: “I have to share this award with the whole team.
“I am one of the youngest here, they welcomed me so well and it’s wonderful to be here with them.
“I think we are a wonderful group of lads and really hope Marco can be back soon, because he is such a talented player who can make the difference.
“The coach has to make his choices, all we can do is be ready when called upon”
    GETTY IMAGES
    MANCINI REACTS
Italy manager Roberto Mancini dedicated the win against Switzerland to all Italians struggling from the ongoing pandemic and has no information about Giorgio Chiellini’s injury yet.
Mancini said: “Switzerland are a strong side, we knew it would be a tough game and it was. We had chances, could’ve scored earlier and suffered where we had to, but deserved it at the end.
“We were struggling in the opening minutes, but then we pressed them high and forced them to make mistakes. The lads did really well, it wasn’t easy, their second game in five days and it’s so hot.
“We changed system to have a breather, as we were tired and needed to make adjustments.
“We’ll see tomorrow [about Chiellini] and hope it’s nothing serious.
“We play to win every game and then we’ll see what happens. We dedicate this win to all the Italians who are suffering right now”

Gareth Bale creates FIVE clear-cut chances in Wales’ Euro 2020 win over Turkey… the most EVER in tournament history

GARETH BALE created FIVE clear-cut chances in Wales’ 2-0 win over Turkey… the most EVER in tournament history.Magnificent Bale, 31, was in tip-top form as the Welsh all-but booked their place in the knockout stages of Euro 2020.

The Real Madrid winger, who spent the season on loan at former side Spurs, helped himself to two assists against the Turks.
Bale produced a piece of magic to find Aaron Ramsey minutes before half-time to put Wales ahead.
The four-time Champions League winner then found Connor Roberts in the 95th minute to seal an incredible victory.
Bale did have a moment to forget earlier in the second half when he sent a penalty blazing high over the bar.
But he still managed to create a record five clear-cut chances, according to The Analyst.
That’s the most by a single player in recorded Euro history since 1980.
Wales’ win also saw them notch up another impressive statistic.
OptaJoe reveals how Wales have now won five matches across Euro 2020 and Euro 2016.

That’s the second-best record after reigning champions and current favourites France, who have won six.
And it also means Wales have the BEST winning percentage in Euros history, with five victories in eight games making for a success rate of 63 per cent.
Speaking after the whistle, Bale revealed he was delighted with Wales’ progress in the tournament so far.

But he did apologise to fans and team-mates for his awful penalty miss, saying: “We’re in a fantastic position now. If you’d offered us four points at the start we would have bitten your hand off.
“Of course, we’ll have to wait and see what  happens but we’re happy. I am absolutely delighted with the win.
“[For the penalty] I got under the ball and it wasn’t a nice feeling.
“In the circle after the game, I made a funny  joke and apologised for missing the pen.”

Yet the central defender is still unlikely to start against the Scots, with boss Gareth Southgate looking certain to keep faith with John Stones and Tyrone Mings.
Asked if he is fit to start at Wembley, Maguire, 28, said: “Yes definitely.
“I’ve done a few sessions now and feel like my fitness is there, so I’m available for the game.
“The injury was a setback club football-wise. Internationally, I wanted to come into this with a lot of games under my belt with full fitness.
“But I feel good and I’ve been in full training.”
Maguire suffered the injury after a collision with Villa’s Anwar El Ghazi and missed United’s loss to Villarreal in the Europa League final.
He has only been in full training for a few sessions but the centre-half, although expecting some pain, insists playing a full 90 minutes would not be a problem.
Maguire is more likely to feature in some capacity in the final group game against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

He said: “I don’t feel like there is any risk.
“I think throughout a career in football, if you didn’t play through pain you would probably spend more time on the sidelines than on the pitch.
“I have done it throughout my career and so has everyone else who plays week in, week out.
“I haven’t had an ankle injury before so I cannot gauge the pain or stability. That is down to the physios and we do tests day in, day out.
“We firmly believe it is in a good place stability-wise. I am all good to go. Speaking to players and physios, I’m sure it will be niggling me.
“But as long as it’s stable and the pain is bearable, then I’m sure I’ll be fine.”
As for the clash with Scotland, Maguire added: “It’s a big game and it’s going to be a great day.
“It will be a great occasion for the country to get together and push us forward and we’ll try our best to go and get the three points.”

And he is delighted to be swapping his back garden for Wembley.
The Blades’ keeper said: “I tried to get a ticket for the first game but couldn’t manage it.
“Game one, game two, game three — I just wanted a ticket. I would have gone on my own and met up with some of the other lads’ families.
“I watched it at my house on Sunday, we were having a barbecue.
“I jumped up and down like a crazy person when we scored. It’s crazy how things work out.”
Ramsdale thought his contribution to the Euros was over after being part of the expanded party that gathered for the two warm-up games.
But the FA asked him to rejoin the squad on Tuesday after Dean Henderson suffered a hip injury.
And during the journey to St George’s Park he learned he was going to be part of the 26-man England group for the rest of the tournament.

Ramsdale said: “I didn’t think things would get much better than the camp in Middlesbrough.
“Being on the bench, even if I wasn’t going to get on, I stood there with my kit on and listened to the national anthem.
“It just gave me goosebumps. I was just imagining what it would be like at Wembley with a full crowd or with the capacity it’s at in the Euros.”
But on Friday night, Ramsdale will not have to imagine it — he will be doing it.
The Sheffield United ’keeper told The England Podcast: “It’s England v Scotland, at a major tournament, at Wembley, and I’m going to be involved, with the Three Lions on my chest.
“It doesn’t get much better than that.”
Sunsport revealed Arsenal have lined up a £20m-plus swoop for the Stoke-born stopper, 23.

Man Utd legend Roy Keane had a fulsome, swashbuckling beard just 24 hours earlier as France overcame Germany 1-0 on Tuesday night
One suggested the former hardman had “shaved his beard because he was annoyed you all said he looked handsome”.
And in another reference to Keane’s cut-throat reputation as a player, one viewer tweeted: “He’ll probably have a full beard by the end of the game.”
One wondered: “Does Roy Keane just take his beard off and let it run wild for a couple of weeks every six months or so?

“Last night he looked like a raggedy old badger, today smoother than Bond.”
Meanwhile, Italy became the first team to qualify for the knockout stages with their second razor-sharp 3-0 group win.
Having tonked Turkey, the awesome Azzurri were conquerors in Rome of outclassed Switzerland.
Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli netted twice and Lazio frontman Ciro Immobile’s late long-ranger squeezed in under Yann Sommer.
But even Italy’s performance failed to distract some on social media from Keane’s sudden switch to suaveness.
At least, though, the mystery of how it happened was solved, without the need for hairless whispers.

Kent barbers The Hairy Bear revealed the ex-Sunderland and Ipswich manager popped in on Wednesday for something rather more than a trim.

“For us it’s an absolute privilege to have a legend in like that – even though I’m a Liverpool supporter.”

One small consolation for the Republic of Ireland great is there will be no more stubble trouble.

The team — managed by Gareth Southgate — had a splashing time at St George’s Park yesterday as the final countdown began to the Battle of Britain Euro 2020 showdown at Wembley.
Coaching staff at the camp in Burton-on-Trent, Staffs, introduced the bizarre balls in place of the unicorn pool inflatables which players loved at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
They allow the stars to enjoy fun games with minimal impact on tired joints and muscles. Tyrone Mings, 28, Phil Foden, 21, Kyle Walker, 31, and Jordan Pickford, 27, were snapped with their new toys.
A Three Lions source said: “The atmosphere in the camp is very relaxed but very focused.
“The players seem to be enjoying themselves.
“It’s hard training then recovering from the physical and mental stress of such big games.
“Having fun is a big part of keeping them happy and sharp for the next challenge. The watermelon balls have been a big hit.”

The Sun revealed yesterday how players are relaxing between games in a cocoon-like yoga “Hotpod” with chill-out tunes and relaxing aromas piped in.
The Watermelon Ball combo pack like those used by the stars costs just £9.99. They include one patterned like a green watermelon and another multi-coloured version.
Makers Cardonely say on their website: “Watermelon Ball is a water-filled ball that mimics the flotation of a watermelon, the ball will sink slowly then rise to the surface when thrown in the water.
“The ball can be bounced, dribbled and passed under water making it great for all sorts of water games.”
The England team released snaps on social media of Aston Villa centre back Mings poised to throw one of the balls and Manchester City’s Foden and Walker and Everton goalie Pickford joining the fun.
The photos were captioned: “Making a splash”. But some fans said they missed the inflatables. Luke Oliver tweeted: “Where’s the unicorn?”.

Jack Blake added: “Need Maguire on a unicorn” and Nicola Ferris said: “Get the unicorns out.”
A win for the Three Lions over Scotland would ensure them a place in the tournament’s last 16.
Wales took a huge step towards that stage by beating Turkey 2-0 yesterday, despite star man Gareth Bale missing a penalty.
