Grealish set up the only goal of the game at Wembley – standing up a delightful cross to the back post for Raheem Sterling to head in.
It sealed top spot in Group D for Southgate’s men and a last-16 tie at Wembley next Tuesday.
Egyptian defender Elmohamady, who is leaving Aston Villa when his contract expires this summer, was among the millions watching Tuesday’s Euro 2020 clash on TV.
And he couldn’t help but have a light-hearted dig at the England manager after Grealish’s assist.
He tweeted: “This what happen when you play your best player Gareth, What a ball.”
And Villa fans responded to his post in agreement.
One said: “King Elmo knows football. Greatness recognizes greatness.”
And a number of supporters simply wrote: “Elmo knows.”

Harry Kane given lowest England rating by L’Equipe with Harry Maguire and Raheem Sterling top after Czech Republic win

HARRY KANE was given England’s LOWEST match rating by L’Equipe following the 1-0 win over Czech Republic. The Three Lions clinched Group D with a simple victory at Wembley and will now face one of France, Germany, Portugal or Hungary in the last-16.

Raheem Sterling grabbed the only goal of the game, nodding home a teasing Jack Grealish cross early on.
England only scored TWICE in their three group games, with £150million-rated captain Harry Kane largely anonymous.
Kane, 27, is yet to score in this summer’s tournament – with Sterling also scoring the winner against Croatia.
And on Tuesday night, despite Kane putting in arguably his best shift of the tournament, he was given a brutal, team-low 4/10 by French publication L’Equipe.
Kane failed to score, didn’t lay on an assist, completed just 59 per cent of his passes and lost possession 18 times from his 46 touches.
However, the Tottenham man did win six of his eight aerial duels as he helped bring Sterling, Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka into the attack.
Kane’s heatmap and touchmaps both showed he spent far too much of his time dropping deep or drifting out to the left flank, as he does for Spurs.
But the striker managed just TWO touches in the Czech Republic box – demonstrating a worrying lack of threat.

Even then, no other England player scored below a five in L’Equipe’s outrageously harsh ratings.
Harry Maguire – back in the team following a 44-day injury lay-off – scored a 7/10, along with match-winner Sterling.
Boss Gareth Southgate also secured a 7/10 for his team selection, tactics and subsitutions.
Elsewhere Saka, Grealish, John Stones and Jordan Pickford all scored a 6/10, with Kyle Walker, Luke Shaw, Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips scoring a 5/10.
Overall, England averaged a dreadful 5.6/10 – still streets ahead of Czech Republic’s mean score of 4.2/10, which saw Jan Boril given a horrifying 2/10.
For Kane, he will aim to find his shooting boots ahead of the last-16 clash at Wembley on June 29 against one of the Group F giants.

Ikea cash in on Cristiano Ronaldo water bottle after Portugal star’s Coca-Cola stunt at Euro 2020 press conference

IKEA have cashed in on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Coca-Cola stunt earlier this month – releasing glass water bottles named after the Portugal star. The Juventus hitman made headlines last week by removing two bottles of Coke from the view of cameras before speaking at a Euro 2020 pre-match press conference.

And Ikea have brilliantly capitalised on the stunt by releasing their own Cristiano branded water bottlesCredit: IKEA
Ronaldo, 36, then picked up a bottle of water and shouted in his native tongue: “Agua.”
And Ikea have cheekily jumped on the wagon by naming clear and reusable glass water bottles after the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
The Swedish home goods store shared their new product with the world on social media.
The accompanying caption on their Instagram post read: “Drink water, sustainably @cristiano #Euro2020.”
Ikea’s branding of the bottles drew praise from many, with one of their followers saying: “Give your marketing team a raise.”
Another said: “Hahaha marketing on point.”

And another said: “This is quick clever marketing.”
Ronaldo’s moving of the Coke bottles knocked a staggering £2.84billion off the company’s market value.
Other players have followed the former Manchester United man’s suit, with Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli also moving bottles of Coke and replacing them with water.
France’s Paul Pogba removed a bottle of Heineken from in front of him after France’s 1-0 win over Germany, placing it below the table during the post-match press conference.
But players now face the possibility of being fined if they remove any items from the tournament’s sponsors.

Euro 2020 tournament director Martin Kalle, said: “It is important because the revenues of the sponsors are important for the tournament and for European football.
“We are never fining players directly from the Uefa side, we will do this always through the participating national association and then they could look if they will go further to the player, but we are not going directly for the moment to the player.”
Kallen then revealed tournament rules require compliance with Uefa’s promises to sponsors.
He did, however, also reveal that players with religious objections ‘don’t need to have a bottle there’.
Ronaldo and his Portugal team-mates will be back in action this evening, locking horns with France in their final Group F match.

England have a high tactical level and a great chance in the next round – but the pressure will ramp up from here

FOR England, the next one will be the one.In the last 16 they will be up against a top team with the advantage of playing at Wembley – but the pressure will also increase.
Gareth Southgate’s England have the players and tactical knowledge to deal with different styles, opponents and systemsCredit: PA
Harry Maguire returned against the Czech Republic and had a good performanceCredit: EPA
It will decide whether they are in the quarters or on their holidays.
But they are in a good place. The mentality on the inside is very good.
People are not going to be over the moon because they are always asking for more.
They will be asking for a different kind of football after their win against Czech Republic, but inside the camp and inside the meeting rooms, England are happy.
They have done the job well and are prepared for the next one – and I wouldn’t be surprised if the next game is against Germany.
And with the way Germany play with three at the back and two wing-backs, I also wouldn’t be surprised if England copied that and played a three of John Stones, Harry Maguire and Tyrone Mings.
The good thing for England right now is they look like they are in a condition with the tactical knowledge where it looks like they can cope with different things.
England have played three at the back many times over the last five or six years under Gareth Southgate. They have the players who know how to do it.
Southgate could switch to a back three and bring Tyrone Mings back inCredit: AFP
The tactical level right now is high and they are going to be ready to deal with what modern football is.
Germany destroyed Portugal in the group stages because Portugal could not defend the wing-backs with four in defence. But England will be ready to do it in a different way.
It is important the team knows what to do in different moments and reacting to what the game is giving you, just like against the Czech Republic.
Of course, we would all – even Southgate – prefer that the beginning of the second half was the same as the first by scoring another goal and killing the game off to make the result bigger and beautiful. This is what every coach wants.
But the game went in a different direction and England managed the game they wanted to play, just like against Scotland.
In the first half there was a great dynamism and intensity with great transitions, but it is difficult to keep up that high standard for 90 minutes.
It was important for Maguire to play this match.
When you have the option of taking 26 players at this tournament, you have to risk and gamble and take an injured player if he deserves it, and Maguire was one of those.
They took the risk, he recovered and i he was confident, stable, intelligent and read the game well and has a good partnership with John Stones.

Kyle Walker played as a defensive right-back as the Three Lions defended solidlyCredit: EPA

The way England play, with Kyle Walker not as an attacking full back but building as a three and staying back defensively, they are solid and Maguire brought that.
Tyrone Mings is also doing a fantastic job and when he came on you could feel he was happy to come on. He is a team player.
Sometimes it is normal that a player is playing well and he is deserving to play but is dropped so the coach can have a different option and that was the case with Mings and Maguire.
Mings is doing so well and is a leader and is vocal and gives a certain mentality, but Maguire is Maguire and the team is steady with him.
England in behind are more than safe with these players at the back.
All four of England’s attacking players in Kane, Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka played well. There was a great mobility between all of them.
Grealish may have been in the middle with Sterling and Saka out wide but they were constantly moving and at times Sterling was higher than Kane.
I saw Kane play a completely different game than the previous two games. He was more mobile with the long balls and winning flicks and free-kicks.
There were also two diagonal passes which he controlled brilliantly at his feet and never lost the ball. I liked his game very much.
The only negative is that once more they were very poor on attacking corners.
England are powerful and a threat from set-pieces – but must improve their deliveryCredit: PA

The service is dramatically bad. England has so much power in guys like Stones, Mings, Maguire and Kane but the crosses are not passing the first man.
Luke Shaw had a good game but his deliveries were not very good, and Kalvin Phillips.
Going into the knock-outs corners can decide a game so they have one week to prepare it.

    What’s the form?
Germany have lost two of their last eight international fixtures with their most recent defeat occurring against France in their opening Euros match.
And they fell to a heavy 6-0 Nations League loss against Spain in November 2020.
But Low’s men brushed aside their rocky start to this year’s Euros sealing a 4-2 win against Portugal last time out.
The Germans were boosted by two own goals in their favour before strikes from Kai Havertz, 22, and man-of-the-match Robin Gosens, 26, wrapped up their victory.
Meanwhile Hungary have picked up a solitary point from their two opening group stage clashes
They help tournament favourites France to a 1-1 draw after losing 3-0 to Portugal with Cristiano Ronaldo netting twice
And a loss to Germany would see Rossi’s men exit the contest.
At a tournament you know how it goes, step by step. The next step will be Hungary, which will be hard as they park the bus in defence.Joachim Low – Germany head coach

    Who’s in and who’s out?
Thomas Muller, 31, is likely to be out of action after picking up a knee injury during Germany’s win against Portugal.
Reports claim Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, 25, could be in line to replace the veteran striker who helped his side win the 2014 World Cup.
The former Manchester ace has netted seven times in 32 senior international appearances for Germany.
And Mats Hummels is thought to be contending with a knee injury but it’s thought the defender could be starting in Low’s side this evening.
Meanwhile Nemanja Nikolic is expected to keep his place in Hungary’s attack with team-mate Adam Szalai recovering from a head injury sustained during his team’s 0-0 draw with France.

    Watch out for……
Robin Gosens. The wing-back who once dreamt of becoming a policeman, was in fine form for Germany during their win against Portugal.
The Atalanta defender netted a spectacular goal burying a header in mid-air
And the Serie A ace is reportedly a summer transfer target for LaLiga giants Barcelona.
And Hungary’s Laszlo Kleinheisler is another player to watch following his impressive midfield shift against France.
The 27-year-old who plays for Croatian club Osijek had the most the successful pass rate of any player during his team’s draw with the 2018 World Cup winners
And his efforts earned him Uefa’s man of the match prize.

    What’s the form?
Despite losing to a resurgent Germany on matchday two – and conceding TWO own goals – Fernando Santos’ men will be hoping to pull off an upset against France.
But skipper Cristiano Ronaldo and his team-mates face a tough task against Didier Deschamps’ side.
France have won three of the last five international duels between the sides since October 2014 conceding just twice.
And Portugal will want to prevent any costly defensive errors with Rúben Dias and Raphaël Guerreiro both netting own goals during their team’s clash with Joachim Low’s aces.
We have to have a reaction against Portugal. We have to be there on the pitch and we will have to work tactically and see where we can hurt them.Antoine Griezmann – France

    Who’s in and who’s out?
Portugal will be without striker Joao Felix and left-back Nuno Mendes for their final group F clash with both players having missed their side’s loss to Germany.
Atletico Madrid ace Felix, 21, is reportedly contending with hamstring problems.
And Sporting Lisbon starlet Mendes, 19, who is reportedly a Man United transfer target, is out of action due to a thigh strain.
It is thought Santos could look to make some minor changes to his midfield line-up.
Rafa Silva is reportedly in contention to make an appearance after helping the reigning Euros champs trounce Hungary.
The Benfica playmaker came on as a second-half substitute contributing to his side’s 3-0 win in their first fixture of this year’s tournament.

Renato Sanches could feature for Portugal against the 2018 World Cup winners after his impressive performance against GermanyCredit: Getty
And Renato Sanches could also be set to make his first start for Santos’ side in the tournament.
The Lille midfielder, 23, became the youngest player to ever feature in European Championship final in 2016 at the age of 18
And Sanches’ positive attacking display helped skipper Ronaldo net a late brace against Hungary.
Meanwhile France suffered a blow to their attacking ranks with Ousmane Dembele ruled out for the rest of the tournament.
The winger sustained a knee injury during France’s 1-1 draw with Hungary with the French FA confirming the player would miss the rest of his side’s fixtures.
And reports claim Lucas Hernandez could return as a left-back for Deschamps side, replacing Lucas Digne who started against Hungary.

    Watch out for……
Cristiano Ronaldo. At the age of 36 the Juventus frontman remains a dangerous threat in attack.
The former Man United winger has emerged as the Euros all-time top scorer – with 11 goals – beating the record set by France’s Michel Platini.
And Ronaldo currently has a tally of 107 goals in 176 games for his national team.
Super-sub Sanches is another Portugal player to keep an eye on with the forward almost breaking the post with his ferocious strike against Germany.
France’s Kylian Mbappe will also be keen to impress following his pivotal role in his nation’s 2-0 win against Germany.
The Paris Saint-Germain  star was allegedly on the receiving end of racial abuse during Les Bleus’ scoreless draw with Hungary on matchday two.

He struck a delightful effort from 20 yards into the top corner just after the hour mark, giving David Marshall no chance.
It put the 2018 World Cup finalists back in front and proved the winner as the Croatians sealed second spot in Group D.
And tough-tackling former midfielder Keane was in the mood to laud the technique – but admitted he would not do it himself.
The ex-Manchester United and Ireland man – who also joked he doesn’t talk to his wife for longer than five minutes – said: “Brilliant goal from a brilliant player. Huge respect to Modric, fantastic. What is he, 35?
“I don’t think I ever kicked the ball with the outside of my foot. What a finish.
“Brilliant player – love watching him.”
Fellow ITV pundit Ian Wright added: “What you see when you give a player of that calibre that kind of time, you’re thinking he’s going to come on [to it] with his left foot.
“But to put it in with the outside of his right foot where he did with that power was amazing.”

The ITV commentator called it: “Modric! It’s a stunning goal. Luka Modric, still the maestro. And Croatia lead again. It’s a thing of beauty.”

“That’s fantastic. Absolutely magnificent finish from Modric, heartbreaking but magnificent.”
Fans on Twitter were also quick to praise the former Ballon d’Or winner’s sublime goal.
One wrote: “Hilarious that everyone was just left stunned by Keane’s unequivocal praise for Modric there so there was just dead air for a couple of seconds.”
