Euro 2020 – Brit soldiers jump up and down as they watch England beat Germany 2-0 from Somalia posting

BRITISH soldiers jumped up and down as they watched England beat Germany 2-0 from their Somalia posting. The squaddies couldn’t contain their excitement when England scored the winning goal against their historic rivals in this evening’s Euro 2020 game.

British soldiers cheered as England beat Germany in the nail-biting game at Wembley
The Ministry of Defence shared the jubilant snap on Twitter paired with the caption: “It’s coming home! England fans in the Armed Forces will be tuning in from around the world to support their team today.
“This photo shows Army personnel deployed to protect peace and security in Somalia celebrating an England goal earlier in the Euros.”
Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane were tonight’s heroes as they sank the Germans with late goals and blew open England’s route to the final of the Euros.
Tonight’s win was England’s first against Germany in a major tournament since 1966 – leaves the Three Lions with a clear path to the final with either the Czech Republic or Denmark waiting in the semis.
Southgate showed extreme caution with his starting line-up and England defended in numbers but nobody here cared as 40,000 roared every block and tackle as if they were goals.
Sterling started and ended the 75th-minute attack which sent England on course for a quarter-final with Sweden or Ukraine in Rome on Saturday night, bursting forward from midfield and then nudged home a cross from Shaw.

Topless fans cheered on the team after beating Germany
Prince William fist pumps the air alongside Prince George and Kate Middleton
And after Shaw ran at the German defence, Grealish centred for Kane to score with a stooping header.
There were famous faces spotted at today’s game, including Prince George with his football-crazy dad, Prince William.
Kate Middleton, who had not seen England play live before, showed her support in a red jacket over a white shirt.
Prince William, who is also President of The Football Association, was seen pumping his fists at Wembley Stadium for England’s fourth match of the Euros.
And while there was no England shirt for seven-year-old Prince George – who instead wore a smart navy blue jacket, shirt and official FA tie – the future king clapped his hands as England thumped to victory.
Mum Kate Middleton also got into the action, donning a bright red jacket from Zara over a white top.
The royals were joined by David Beckham and his son Romeo, along with Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry.
And George – who looked nervous as he sat between his parents for the national anthem – quickly got into the spirit of the game.
Fans turned the sky red and white by letting off flares as they arrived at Wembley draped in England flags.
Over 5 million pints will be drunk by footy fans during the match tonight.
There were scenes of chaos outside the stadium before kickoff as boozed-up fans climbed trees and stripped off while swigging beer.
Roaring choruses of It’s Coming Home were heard in London as excited fans chucked drinks in the air.
The British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) believe England fans will neck 5million pints during the mighty clash.
The Three Lions lifted the Jules Rimet trophy thanks to goals from legends Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters.
But what followed is 55 years of hurt for England while Germany enjoyed world dominance at major tournaments.

The rivalry has been bolstered by heartbreaking penalty shootouts and controversial disallowed goals.
In the 1970 World Cup, it was West Germany that put an end to England’s campaign in extra time.
Gazza’s tears were then shared by the whole country after England crashed out of the 1990 World Cup semi-final on penalties.

Meet Vlada Sedan – wife of Ukraine star Oleksandr Zinchenko who has rowed with Guardiola and is huge TV star at home

THAT’S why they call it the beautiful game.Stunning Vlada Sedan clearly sets pulses racing when she’s interviewing the planet’s best footballers.
Vlada Sedan is the stunning Wag of Man City star Zinchenko
Sedan is a Ukrainian TV presenter
But the 25-year-old Ukrainian TV reporter has eyes for one man… Man City star Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The two were married in August 2020, a year after Zinchenko proposed to Sedan inside the 70,000-capacity Olympic Stadium in Kiev in front of a heart-shaped display of red roses.
Zinchenko, 24, confirmed his relationship with Sedan following Ukraine’s 5-0 win over Serbia in June 2019 where he planted a kiss on her cheek.
And he then embraced his partner after Ukraine beat Portugal 2-1 in October 2019 that secured their Euro 2020 qualification.
Fans were left wondering whether the two were an item for months before Zinchenko’s public display of affection, though his team-mates were well aware of his relationship.
It’s easy to see why the Premier League star is so enamoured with the beauty.
And Sedan took to Instagram last week to announce she is pregnant with the pair to become parents for the first time.
HIS TEAM-MATES KEPT THE ROMANCE SECRET
Despite her Instagram page alluding to the fact they were a couple, no-one really knew for sure.
Well no-one except Zinchenko’s Urkrainian and Man City team-mates, who were in on the secret.
Sedan regularly shares snaps of herself on social mediaCredit: https://www.instagram.com/v.lada_sedan/?hl=en

“Some guys knew about it,” he said on Channel Football 1/2.
“It was also discussed by my Ukrainian team-mates.” We bet, probably with a hint of jealousy.
    FORGET MATCH OF THE DAY
Sedan reports for Channel Football 1/2, and has interviewed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Andriy Shevchenko.
But it seems she has ambitions to work alongside Gary Lineker, Ian Wright and Alan Shearer on Match of the Day.
On a visit Manchester to see her beloved, she popped round to the BBC and posed in front of a snap with the footy presenters.

And she also went to a City game to cheer on her beau, enjoying a quick meeting with his boss Pep Guardiola.
    PEP TALK
Sedan hit out at Guardiola following City’s Champions League exit at the hands of Lyon last year.
She questioned the Spaniard’s tactics as Pep opted to start three centre-backs against the Ligue 1 side.
Speaking on her YouTube channel, Sedan said: “Perhaps I have no right to say this, perhaps Zinchenko will forbid me. But to put it mildly, and in order not to swear, this is completely Guardiola’s fault.
“At such a crucial moment, making such an experimental tactic for Man City is a bummer.
“I have no right to criticise, but why play three central defenders when the players themselves take their heads.
“I simply have no words, because to have such a line-up… look what players play at Man City, what a bench. Literally few clubs in the world can boast such reserves.”
Zinchenko interrupted his own wedding day to apologise to fans for comments from himself and his wife after Man City’s Champions League exit
    ZINCHENKO APOLOGY
The incident left Zinchecho to issue a statement on their WEDDING DAY where he admitted his wife was wrong to slam Guardiola.
It read: “Although my wife is a journalist, she is also a fan. During the season she was travelling with us for all away and home games because she is a massive City fan.
“In the video you can see her emotions straight after the game and she gave an opinion like all fans do because she wanted us to do better.
“We totally understand now that she shouldn’t post it on social media because she is my wife. But she was not trying to make a journalist’s opinion on the manager.
“She was simply reacting to the disappointment as a fan.
“I’m writing right now from my wedding and instead of enjoying that unbelievable moment I have to do this because I can’t skip it and leave it like that. I hope you understand.”

    TROUBLE & STRIFE
Zinchenko revealed in February how Guardiola has not yet forgotten Sedan’s rant.
Sedan alleged that the Spaniard told her footballer husband that the ‘most important thing is to be liked by your wife’.
She claimed that Guardiola brought up the incident in response to the Ukraine international making a joke on his 50th birthday.

“Zina (Zinchenko) is always Zina. Firstly compliments, best wishes, but then there must be a fly in the ointment.
“Zina told him, ‘already 50, old age’. Kidding in his own style. Pep looked at him and said: ‘Alex, the most important for me is to be liked by your wife and all will be okay’…”

    FAMILY FORTUNES
Both Zinchenko and his wife announced they will become parents on social media, much to the delight of their followers.
And Zinchenko dedicated his goal against Cyprus on Monday to his unborn child by placing a ball under his shirt.
He then shared the snap on Instagram.

Footage of the trio’s celebrations warmed the hearts of Three Lions fans, one of whom said: This has absolutely made my day…am guilty as charged of enjoying your reaction a little too much!

One remarked: “Your passion is everything!”
Former Germany and Tottenham hitman Jurgen Klinsmann cut a disappointed figure as the BBC’s English contingent of pundits went wild.
And his motionlessness didn’t go unnoticed, with one viewer saying: “Poor Klinsmann haha.”
Another said: “Look at Klingsman. Face like a slaped a**.”
And another said: “See how poor Jurgen Klinsmann standing there amongst English commentators.”

England skipper Harry Kane sparked chaotic scenes up and down the country by heading his side 2-0 up in the 86th minute.
After the final whistle, Klinsmann said: “You have to recognise the moment. This is England’s moment.
“You’ve got to realise if you go through the quarter-final you play a semi-final here, and you maybe have a sell-out crowd in the final.
“It’s not going to be an easy road to the final, but it’s doable.
“Now they have showed the belief, Harry Kane broke through and the energy is high.
“You’ve got to take advantage of that and win this all.”

Despite being over the moon with the historic result, man of the moment Sterling insists the team aren’t getting ahead of themselves.
He said: “It sounds good, we knew we needed to put a big performance in against a good side and we did that today.
“Doing it for your country will always be special and it is a special moment for me.
“I celebrated and for half a second I thought ‘let it not be offside’. Really happy it went in and got the win.
“We knew the intensity we can play at and not a lot of teams can deal with it. The two players in midfield, Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips, ate up the grass and were animals in there.
“We take it game by game, recover and focus for the next one.”

Jubilant supporters hurled pints into the air as the Three Lions secured a famous victory – sparking wild celebrations.
And with hungover Brits tempted to ring in sick tomorrow, what are your employment rights? We explain all.
    Can I get sick pay?
If you are genuinely ill, you may be entitled to statutory sick pay (SSP).
If you qualify, you’ll get £96.35 per week, for up to 28 weeks.
To be eligible, you’ll need to earn an average of at least £120 per week.
Usually you need to have been sick for at least four days in a row – including non-working days.

Sick pay is one of the rights employees are entitled to as part of their contracts, along with others such as maternity or paternity leave, rest breaks and time off.
But if you’re self-employed or a contract worker, the rules about what you’re entitled too are different.
You can find out more about the rules for SSP and how to claim.
If an employer has cause to think your sickness isn’t genuine, they can investigate, and even take disciplinary action over unauthorised absence, said Simon Robinson, an employment solicitor at law firm Robinson Ralph.

He said: “The employer would have to prove it, for example with evidence from social media, and they could investigate, looking at things like past sickness patterns.
“Going sick because you want to watch a football match is never a good idea. It’s not worth losing your job over a football match.”
Official merchandise from postponed 2020 events like the Euros and Olympics could be worth up to £1,500.

That came after Chelsea man Havertz almost broke the deadlock in the second half.

Pickford has been one of England’s best players at the tournament and has now not conceded in any of the four games the Three Lions have played.

Fans watching from home heaped praise on Pickford’s stop.

Watch Harry Kane miss ‘sitter’ on brink of HT with England fans in agony – before he scores second in win vs Germany

HARRY KANE missed a ‘sitter’ on the stroke of half-time leaving England fans in agony during the Euro 2020 last 16 showdown with Germany. But the Three Lions captain, 27, more than made up for it as he scored the second in a famous 2-0 win that sent England into the quarter-finals.

Kane made up for it and sent a wave of relief around Wembley when he scored England’s second against GermanyCredit: AP
The Tottenham striker managed just a handful of touches in the first half as his disappointing form at the tournament continued.
Kane had a golden opportunity to get his first goal of the Euros in the first and only minute of first-half added time.
Raheem Sterling made a dangerous charge into the box, with the ball ricocheting off a German defender and into the path of Kane, with only Manuel Neuer to beat.
Rather than take a shot with his left foot, Kane opted to attempt to round Neuer, only for Mats Hummels to scramble the ball away.
But Kane more than made up for it after the break as he headed home a Jack Grealish cross to make it 2-0 and seal a clash with Ukraine in the quarter-finals.
Raheem Sterling had opened the scoring for England – with Grealish playing a crucial part in the build-up – turning in a Luke Shaw cross from close range.
And Kane sent a wave of relief around Wembley when he headed home, minutes after Thomas Muller had somehow missed a golden one-on-one.
After criticising Kane during the break, BBC pundit and England legend Alan Shearer said: “We’ve been waiting for Harry to ignite, that might just start his tournament off.”

England fans had been were left with their heads in their hands, with Shearer criticising the Tottenham star for missing what he called a ‘sitter’.
Speaking at half-time on the BBC, Shearer said: “A confident Harry Kane sticks it away.
“I don’t think he even needs to think about the touch he just does it.
“Naturally Sterling does really well it takes a bit of a deflection and falls perfectly for Harry Kane.
“Can he stick it away with his left foot? He’s taken a really, really poor touch.

“That’s a sitter. That’s the big opportunity that what he’s been waiting for.
    “Harry’s got to offer more.
“The big talk is about him coming deep for the ball, but look at his movement or lack of it, should I say?
“He doesn’t move at all. He’s got to try and help the team lot more than he’s dong.”
Speaking on commentary, Jermaine Jenas agreed with Shearer’s assessment saying: “The question is: Can Kane just hit this towards goal with his left foot?
“Straight away he decides to try and take it round Neuer…
“Mats Hummels has done what he’s done most those 45 minutes. Right place right time.”

But Jurgen Klinsmann suggested Kane is doing the right thing by dropping deep, as it helps build his confidence.
The Germany legend said: “Harry Kane has often showed with Spurs he didn’t get a rhythm in the game then he drops back and gets some touches and becomes lively.
“Then he goes back in a No9 role and this is about confidence because us forwards, we know we need to be alive, we need to be in the game.
“If he roams around more he does himself a favour and does his team a favour.”
