Phillips has ‘Granny Val’ stitched onto his boot, with an England flag below it.
Speaking about his gran to ITV recently, Phillips said: “She was very caring, she’s very nosey, but she was a lovely, lovely woman.
“She’d be saying ‘don’t let it [his England performances] get to your head and make sure you do just as well in the next game’.
“She always listened to it on the radio and then would ring me five or six times after the game, ask if I’m alright, ask how I played, if I did something wrong.”
The 25-year-old Leeds-born star also uploaded a photo of his family on Instagram after England’s superb showing.

“Thanks to everyone for the kind messages and gifts and also to the people who have helped me and my family In such a difficult period.
“Without you guys, family and football it would have been even harder than what it has been. Rest in Peace Love you always Granny Val!”
After a brilliant opening Euro 2020 game against Croatia, that Gareth Southgate’s side won 1-0, Phillips was told by England and Arsenal legend Ian Wright that his ‘Granny Val will be watching down with the biggest smile’.

Can England fans travel to Rome for Euro 2020 quarter-final against Ukraine and how much do tickets cost?

ENGLAND secured a famous Euro 2020 win over Germany in the last 16 as Gareth Southgate put his Euro 96 demons to rest. And fans were seen going wild after Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling netted in a 2-0 victory at Wembley.

And next up it’s Ukraine in the Italian capital after Andriy Shevchenko’s men beat Sweden in extra time.
But will England fans be allowed to join the team in Rome for the quarter-final?
Can England fans travel to Rome for the quarter-final?
England fans are allowed to enter Italy, but they won’t be able to watch the game.
That’s because anybody who arrives from the UK to the country, or has been in the UK for the past 14 days, will be ordered to self-isolate for five days.
To get into Italy, you need to take a rapid test in the 48 hours before travelling and a further rapid test after five days to end your self-isolation.
And reports suggest Italian police will intensify checks on motorways and at the country’s borders to stop England fans travelling to the game.
BREAKING. Italian authorities are reportedly working on intensifying checks at the border and motorways to prevent English fans from going to Italy this Saturday to follow the match against Ukraine.#Euro2020— Antonello Guerrera (@antoguerrera) June 30, 2021

Can any England fans go to Rome for the game?
England fans in Italy will be able to attend the match, as well as those travelling from the EU or Schengen area.
Fans travelling from Canada, Japan or the United States are not bound by the same rules as the UK and will be allowed to enter Italy.

How do I get tickets for England vs Ukraine?
No tickets are currently showing on the Uefa website for fans logging in from the UK.
Should they be released, they will cost £64, £124 and £159.
And the England Supporters Travel Club have confirmed that tickets WON’T be sold by the FA.
But there is work going on behind the scenes for English nationals living in Italy to attend.

Do England fans have to quarantine on return?
Yes. Italy is on the UK amber list, so if you do manage to get to Rome and see the game you will still be required to quarantine at home on arrival back in the UK.
This quarantine lasts ten days (your arrival date is Day Zero) and you must also travel back to the UK with a negative rapid test and book PCR tests on Day 2 and Day 8 in advance of travel.
Your quarantine can be reduced to seven days by taking an additional test on Day 5 using the Test to Release scheme.
That would allow you to attend the Euro 2020 final if England get there and you test negative.
Will England play any other games abroad?
The quarter-final in Rome is the only game England will play abroad.
Should England reach the semi-final and final, both games will be played at Wembley.

The drama began in extra-time when Swedish defender Marcus Danielson was controversially sent off with the score at 1-1.
Danielson cleared the ball but caught Artem Besedin with his follow-through, leaving the Ukrainian striker with a nasty-looking injury.
Ukraine then made their advantage count as Artem Dovbyk scored a last-minute winner at Hampden Park.
As Sweden tried desperately to get back on level terms, defender Serhiy Kryvtsov won a free-kick to all but end the contest.
The camera then panned to Andersson, who was frustrated with the referee’s decision.
Shevchenko responded to the Sweden boss and had to be held back by the fourth official.

Ukraine have reached the quarter-final of the Euros for the first time in their history following their historic result against Sweden.

They previously competed in 2012 and 2016, failing to get out of their group in both tournaments.

But the Gypsy King, a big Manchester United fan, made sure he caught all the action from England’s stunning 2-0 win against Germany at Wembley.
One of his camp had the game playing on his phone, and on one of the England goals Fury burst into song.
As the group celebrate, Fury starts to sing the famous Baddiel & Skinner anthem Three Lions (It’s Coming Home).
He is soon joined by the other lads in the gym as the realisation of finally beating Germany sinks in.
Fury will meet Wilder for a third time on July 24 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The Brit battered Wilder in February last year after the pair had drawn their first clash.
And Fury plans to weigh a whopping 300lbs for the trilogy fight.
He said: “I gave my game plan away the first time because he wasn’t good enough to do anything about it.

“And I’ll do the same thing this time because he’s not good enough to do anything about it.
“Deontay Wilder is a one-trick pony. He’s got one-punch power, we all know that – great.
“But what I’m going to do to Deontay Wilder this time is I’m going to run him over as if I’m an 18-wheeler and he’s a human being.
“I guarantee he does not go past where he did before [the seventh round].
“Because before, I only had five or six weeks practicing what I’m going to do to him. This time, I’ve had 18 months of practicing what I’m going to do to him.
“So I anticipate it’s going to be like an 18-wheeler running over somebody, and that’s what you’re gonna see.
“I’m building my weight up, trying to get up to 300lbs for this fight. Because I’m looking for a big knockout straight away.”

Did beer-swilling Jurgen Klopp lookalike outside Wembley fool GMB reporter at England game… fans convinced he did

AN INCREDIBLE Jurgen Klopp lookalike was spotted outside Wembley – and he may have even fooled a GMB reporter.A spitting image of the Liverpool boss was seen downing beers and singing ‘football’s coming home’ at England’s win over Germany.

And he posed for a photo with ITV reporter Jonathan Swain – who might have been fooledCredit: ITV
The fan was dressed all in a Liverpool tracksuit and even had Klopp’s signature baseball cap on.
And his look was so convincing that it may just have managed to fool an ITV reporter at Wembley.
Good Morning Britain presenter Jonathan Swain appeared on Lorraine shortly after 9am today with an update from outside Wembley.
He said: “As I was going into the stadium I caught up with Jurgen Klopp as well, the Liverpool manager, of course he’s German.
“He was a great sport yesterday, chatting to many of the England fans.
“Even after the match he was on the shoulders of some England supporters drinking a can of beer here on Wembley way. What a tremendous chap.”
Presenter Lorraine laughed and said ‘I love that’ before Swain moved on to talk about England’s 2-0 win.
He even posted a picture of himself with the Klopp lookalike on Twitter last night with the caption: “I think I might be alright for match commentary.”

And social media users couldn’t help but think that Swain fell victim to the lookalike.
One said: “From a look-a-like? Do you genuinely think Klopp would be cutting around in his time off in full Liverpool gear? You’ve been right royally had here.”
Another Twitter user said: “As if you actually thought it was really him.”
And one more posted: “You do know that isn’t Klopp right?”

The 7 crucial moments that saw England finally beat Germany, from Southgate team picks to Wembley fans and Muller miss

ENGLAND put the nation in dreamland with a stunning 2-0 Euro 2020 triumph against old rivals Germany.Goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane saw the Three Lions progress into the quarter-finals, with the Germans sent home.
England FINALLY beat Germany in a major tournamentCredit: AFP
It was the first time since the triumphant 1966 World Cup final that England had beaten Germany in the knock-out stages of a major tournament.
And while Gareth Southgate’s side fully deserved their victory, there were some hairy moments in the Wembley clash.
Here, SunSport runs through seven crucial moments that saw England progress through to face Ukraine in the last eight.
    TEAM SELECTION
Southgate changed things up for this game, going with a 3-5-2 with wing-backs to counter Germany’s marauding flankers.
Kyle Walker was played as one of three alongside Harry Maguire and John Stones, with Luke Shaw and Kieran Trippier on the sides.
    And it worked a treat.
Germany dominated the early stages, but as the game went on you could sense they were frustrated by England… frustrating.
Shaw and Tripper worked their socks off, and provided key passes onto Sterling and Bukayo Saka ahead of them.
Arsenal wonderkid Saka did have a quiet game, but that was overshadowed by a pitch-perfect team strategy.
Despite many calling for Jack Grealish, Phil Foden or Jadon Sancho to start – Southgate got it just right with his picks.

    PICKFORD SAVE VS WERNER
England finally look like they have that world class keeper between the sticks.
Jordan Pickford is yet to concede a goal at Euro 2020 – the only keeper in the tournament that can make that claim – and made several crucial saves against Germany.
But the one that really counted most was when the teams were tied at 0-0 in the first half.
Kai Havertz played a delicious through-ball to his Chelsea team-mate Timo Werner, but his smashed effort on goal was brilliantly deflected away by Pickford.
The Everton stopper went on to brilliantly deny Havertz with a fine tip over the bar too.

    RICE ESCAPING RED
Germany were begging referee Danny Makkelie to show Declan Rice a red card for a cynical-looking foul just eight minutes in.
Makkelie actually had the red in his hands – but he was just shuffling the pack to find the yellow.
Leon Goretzka was the man hauled down, but thankfully the referee adjudged Walker to be the covering defender and so not denying a goalscoring opportunity.
Rice’s central midfield partner Kalvin Phillips was also booked in the game in that first half – but both young players showed terrific nous to see out the game.
Declan Rice was thankfully only shown a yellow card and not the red the referee had in his handCredit: AP

    GREALISH COMING ON
Just when it seemed England were settling for dreaded penalties, Grealish decided to sort that out.
The fans were baying to see the Aston Villa man get on the pitch – and when Southgate finally relented on the 69th minute, the game was changed.
Grealish was involved in Sterling’s opener, and then assisted captain Kane to finally get off the mark.
The question now is whether Grealish is the impact player England have yearned for, or a certain starter.
Over to you, Gareth – we trust you’ll get it right.

    STERLING GOAL
England’s player of the tournament scored his third goal in four games to send Wembley into ecstasy.
The Manchester City man timed his run to perfection to slot home Shaw’s beautiful assist.
Suddenly fans watching inside Wembley and on TV screens around the country realised Southgate and co were NOT settling for penalties.
Manchester City have recently been rumoured to be prepared to offer Sterling as a makeweight in a deal to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
This tournament has shown that would be a silly move.
Raheem Sterling is England’s top-scorer this tournament with three goalsCredit: AFP

    MULLER MISS
One of Germany’s leaders and a constant thorn in England’s side Thomas Muller fluffed a glorious chance to level the game.
Sterling had fired England ahead on 75 minutes but Muller had an instant chance to level things up.
It was England’s goalscorer who gave away possession that saw the ball played through to the 31-year-old Bayern Munich star.
But one-on-one with Pickford, he flashed an effort the wrong side of the post and Wembley breathed a huge sigh of relief.

    KANE GOAL
The Tottenham man had been having a torrid tournament, and didn’t start the Germany game too well either.
But like the rest of the team, he was instantly buoyed by Sterling poking England noses ahead.
Suddenly his runs were cleverer, and Germany’s centre-halves were losing him.
There was no finer sight that seeing the England captain stooping to head Grealish’s inch-perfect cross past Manuel Neuer into the goal for that crucial second.

Harry Kane is finally off the mark for England this tournamentCredit: AFP
    FANS BACK IN WEMBLEY
What a treat to have fans back inside the national stadium.
England had that advantage before a ball had even being kicked – but you’d have been forgiven for forgetting that Wembley was only half-full.
The fans inside made the most of it – constantly urging the team forward but also accepting when the lads were out of possession.
England legend Alan Shearer told the BBC: “It felt like there were 140,000 fans inside Wembley on Tuesday, let alone 40,000, and the team responded to them – especially in the second half.”
It just felt different. Let’s hope England are back at the famous old stadium come July 11.

Germany’s Coming Home is front page headline as ’empty’ German press react to England’s brilliant 2-0 win at Euro 2020

‘GERMANY’S coming home’ was the message from local media today after they were dumped out of Euro 2020 by England.Joachim Low’s men were beaten 2-0 by the Three Lions at a raucous Wembley on Tuesday night.
‘Germany’s coming home’ was the message in Berlin-based tabloid BZ
Bild told boss Joachim Low ‘it’s all over’
The Hamburger Morgenpost paid respect to departing manager Joachim Low
It was England’s first knockout stage win over their rivals in 55 years and one that left a bitter taste back in Germany.
Berlin-based tabloid BZ reacted by writing a headline in English on their front page saying ‘Germany’s coming home’.
It was a reference to England fans’ ‘football’s coming home’ chant that bellowed around Wembley after the last 16 victory.
They also thanks departing boss Joachim Low for winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
National tabloid Bild, meanwhile, went with the headline ‘Jogi, it’s all over’ and called it a bitter farewell for the national team boss.
They also said that Low looked ’empty, frustrated and depressed’ after the humbling defeat.
Another tabloid – Hamburger Morgenpost – paid respect to outgoing boss Low with a picture of him looking solemn on the front page.
The Frankfurter Allgemeine, meanwhile, had a picture of Low on the front with the headline ‘the sad eyes of London’.
Their match report harshly said that Germany’s ‘self-deception has been exposed’ and was critical of their ‘disappointing’ performance’.

The Frankfurter Allgemeine led with Joachim Low’s ‘sad eyes of London’
The front page of the Suddeutsche Zeitung
And national newspaper Die Welt – which translates as The World
National newspaper Die Welt gave a fair summary of the game under the headline ‘Knockout in Wembley’.
Their breakdown read: “For much of the game it was an even game, this always-legendary fixture between England in London’s Wembley Stadium. And just like back in 1966 the English came out the winners in 2021.”
But the punchline came from the Suddeutsche Zeitung with a joke about Harry Kane’s poor form earlier in the tournament.

Kane scored the second goal in England’s victory on Tuesday night.
And the paper said: “Harry Kane, an internationally-recognised joker, had planned for exactly this punchline for a long time: three games doing nothing, and then a raid on the German Football Association.
“England avenged themselves for what, from the point of view of the English, is a horrible football history, in which they slipped into doom far too often without doing anything, and in which very often someone missed a penalty.”
