      Sunderland axed Johnson on Saturday following their dismal 6-0 defeat to Bolton.
      And Keane could be the man that owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus turns to as Johnson’s replacement.
      Keane’s first-ever job as a manager came at Sunderland in 2006.
      He led them to the Championship title in his first season and followed that up a year later by avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
      However, Keane stood down from his position in December 2008 after a breakdown in his relationship with then-owner Ellis Short and chairman Niall Quinn.

      Watch thousands of Derby fans march in streets in desperate bid to save club from liquidation before Birmingham clash

      THOUSANDS of Derby County fans have taken to the streets to protest against the EFL with the club potentially weeks away from going out existence.Administrators are in talks with the EFL but the club is now heading for official arbitration over compensation claims from Middlesbrough and Wycombe.

      With money due to run out in February, the EFL have agreed to grant Derby a one-month stay of execution as potential new owners continue to compete for preferred bidder status.
      The potential buyers are unable to make formal offers and finalise a deal whilst the legal battle continues.
      As Derby managed to avoid a points penalty last season, Middlesbrough and Wycombe are demanding compensation for loss of revenue over their loss of promotion and relegation respectively.
      Fans inside the stadium also turned up in their numbers and continued the protest by singing: “F*** the EFL”.
      They were rewarded towards the end of the game, as Krystian Bielik scored a thunderous overhead kick in the 96th minute to equalise.
      After being 2-0 down, the Polish defensive midfielder notched the late goal against his old club, following a Luke Plange strike in the 87th minute.
      The full Pride Park crowd sang: “We’re Derby County, we fight ’til the end.”

      Akinfenwa, 39, received the abuse as he went through his warm-up routine on the sidelines.
      And ten minutes before half-time, he lost his rag and confronted fans allegedly aiming abuse his way.
      Play was halted and one of the supporters was reportedly booted out of the stadium.
      Wycombe gaffer Gareth Ainsworth was spotted pleading with travelling fans to stop singing the abusive chant.
      MK Dons’ official account followed Ainsworth’s suit, urging supporters not to engage in abusive chanting.

      THREE fans suffered medical emergencies within minutes of each other at Fulham, Oldham and Wycombe. Play was stopped for a combined hour in the EFL matches with both sets of teams taken down the tunnels at Craven Cottage and Boundary Park.

      A fan was taken ill at the Hammersmith End at Craven Cottage as Fulham led Blackpool 1-0 with 16 minutes on the clock.
      And as medics attended to the supporter, fans used their flags as a shield and referee Peter Bankes took both teams back down the tunnel.
      The fan, believed to be a male, was carried out of the ground on a stretcher and taken to hospital with suggestions from nearby fans he suffered a heart attack.
      High-flying Fulham resumed their match 37 minutes later but conceded an equaliser just before hour mark as it finished 1-1.
      There was a simultaneous stoppage at Oldham when a home fan needed treatment during the goalless League Two clash against Rochdale.
      Again, the players were taken off the pitch to allow the doctors to provide help.

      Dale Vince reveals plans for Forest Green Rovers’ new WOODEN stadium with care home and hotel built above Roman Villa

      DALE VINCE has revealed Forest Green Rovers’ plans for an all-WOODEN stadium – with a care home, hotel and nature reserve on site.But construction work can only begin after a huge four-month archaeological dig has taken place on a Roman Villa and artefacts buried below! 
      The new all-wooden stadium will hold 5,000 fans
      The stadium will be the first of its kind in the world
      The site will be located next to Junction 13 of the M5 in Gloucestershire and will include a hotel and care home as well as office space.

      Vince expects the development to improve the habitat on site by creating more green space with trees, wetland and hedgerows
      Vince, Founder of Ecotricity, and Chairman of Forest Green Rovers, told SunSport: “There’s a villa on site. It’s been known about for quite a while, I’d guess 50 or 60 years.
      “So we’ve got to do a whole bunch of digging around the football pitches just to see if there’s anything else significant in the field that’s not been found before.
      “So far, we’ve found bits of pottery and a couple of coins which are all kind of to be expected near a villa. 
      “It would be amazing to find a mosaic or something, but we probably won’t.
      “Then we can get on to doing the football pitches which should be our first practical piece of building at Eco Park.”
      Green energy company Electrocity are behind the building plans for the club’s new home and an Eco Park on the Gloucestershire base, located next to Junction 13 of the M5. 
      The plans include the first-ever all-wooden stadium, which will hold 5,000, and new training facilities for the men’s, women’s and youth teams under one roof.
      There will also be a care home, 100 bedroom hotel and a nature reserve complete with a new canal.

      Vince added: “The pictures of the stadium speak more than 1000 of my words. It looks incredible is all I can say. 
      “Wood is a beautiful material to be around. It’s so warm and lovely. 
      “The stadium will be like nothing else on the planet. And the experience of being in it is just going to be awesome.”
      Developers expect the build will contribute around £150m to the local economy annually while generating £2m per year for Stroud District Council.
      Not only will there be a care home but also a ‘later life care village’. 
      Vince added: “I’ve been in conversation with the District Council and it is something that the district needs and there was room on site for that and so we added it to the plans.”
      There will be a plush nature reserve on site, with more than 2km of new hedgerows, several thousand trees, wetland and the canal will return. 
      The site is also expected to self-generate over 80% of all energy used. 
      Vince also hopes to create an academy for girls to use the training facilities alongside the boys. 
      When asked about all the teams training under one roof, he said: “It is important because at the moment, they all train in different places. 
      “We’ve got a youth set up with a couple of 100 kids in it. We’ve got an academy set up, women’s team and the first team.
      “We want to build a girls youth system as well at the moment because of course it’s all boys 
      “We’ll bring that into the club as well. It’s just important for us all to be in the same place you know as the entire football family at Forest Green Rovers.”
