How France hero Olivier Giroud, 36, defies his years with a strict diet and tough fitness plan to keep scoring

FRANCE forward Olivier Giroud continues to defy his years. The former Arsenal and Chelsea star was the match-winner against England – beating Harry Maguire to Antoine Griezmann’s header 12 minutes from time to set-up a semi-final date with Morocco.

While Giroud eats a balanced diet to stay on top of his game
Just like the age-less Cristiano Ronaldo, the 2018 World Cup winner has given longevity to his career with a strict diet plan and tough fitness routine.
And he eats plenty of fruit, vegetables, chicken and fish to maintain his incredible physique, while working overtime in the gym.
    YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
Crucial to Giroud’s health and fitness plan is what he puts into his body.

The 6ft4in striker avoids processed foods, sugar and unhealthy oils – corn, canola, vegetable, and other chemically engineered cocktails.
He chows down on a variety of breakfasts, including bagels with strawberry jam, egg white and ham omelettes, or brown toast with scrambled eggs.
For lunch his options feature green Salad with mixed beans, salmon and rice, baked potato with tuna, or even a tuna pasta.
At dinner, he will have fish (sometimes haddock or tuna steak) with a broccoli, or chicken with green vegetables.
When it comes to eating, Giroud is very careful with what he puts into his body

Occasionally, he will go for a lean steak – with a mixed salad or steamed vegetables.
And because Giroud is so incredible active, he will snack regularly during the day.
Things he eats are dried fruit and nuts, muesli bars, popcorn and banana sandwiches.
    WORKING IT OFF
Of course, this high-energy diet gives Giroud plenty to burn off when he works out.
And when he’s not training with current club AC Milan at the Milanello Sports Centre, he is fully utilising his time off to stay fit with an action-packed routine.
He reportedly allows himself just one day off – a Wednesday.
Weekends, if he’s not playing, he will do cardio exercises and again rest.

According to his ex-manager Thomas Tuchel, Giroud trains like a 20-year-old

On Mondays, he’s bench pressing, lifting dumbbells and working his abs using a plate twist.
Tuesdays, he incorporates mountain climbers into his exercise, as well as squats and reverse grip push-ups.
Thursday, Giroud will continue with weight exercises, including a series of routines with dumbbells, close-grip EZ-Bar curls and three sets of pull-ups of five reps.
And for Friday, it’s burpees, a variety of squats, and plyometric lunges. The latter helps develop and improve lower body strength and power, as well as challenge dynamic stability and coordination.
    HIGH PRAISE
Last year, Giroud showed astonishing athleticism with a stunning overhead kick against Atletico Madrid while playing for Chelsea.
He became the oldest player to score in the knockout stages of the Champions League for the Blues at 34 years and 146 days.
But that didn’t surprise his former manager Thomas Tuchel, who was in awe of his striker’s approach to keeping himself in shape.
“If you see him on a daily basis, you cannot be surprised. He is totally fit, his body is in shape and his physicality is on top level,” Tuchel said in an interview back in 2021.
“He trains like a 20-year-old, like a 24-year-old. He is a guy who has a good mixture of serious and joy in training. He is always positive and it is a big factor for the group.”

With four goals in Qatar, Giroud has proven he is still one of the world’s leading forwards. Against Poland he broke France’s all-time scoring record held by Thierry Henry, and his goal against England was his 53rd for his country.
You wouldn’t put it past him to add to that total against Morocco on Wednesday. More

He’s also got himself a PT and has bulked up, putting on two stone, which has seen his weight increase to 70KG.
Antony recently spoke about his stature and said he wasn’t scared despite his size.
He said: “I was small, but I dribbled with a meanness that came from God.

Ricky Hatton sheds FOUR STONE in stunning body transformation ahead of comeback fight aged 44

RICKY HATTON’S exhibition fight with fellow legend Marco Antonio Barrera is an exercise in mental strength and nostalgia and nothing to do with a serious comeback.Alarm bells have to ring when a 44-year-old grandfather announces a fight, ten years after his last one ended in a second consecutive defeat.

But the former two-weight world champ and Manchester icon has explained how a gruelling training regime, four-stone weight loss and chance to walk out at his local arena on Saturday has hugely improved his life – not threatened it.
The Hitman is in such a good mental space he has even treated himself to the occasional pint in the build-up and even stayed on track over a family holiday where he would usually go OTT.
“I’ve been having a few Guinness here and there,” he said with the trademark smile fans fell in love with. “Because I’ve been able to keep on top of it.
“I went to Tenerife for five weeks. Normally I’d put on a stone and a half but I went there and put four or five pounds on. Everyone was like “f***!”  but that’s the way it’s going to be now.

“It’s not gonna be ‘I’m 44, I’m gonna put my feet up, pipe and slippers’.
“You get a little bit older, a bit wiser and things have to change – a little bit.”
Hatton added: “When I jumped on the scales at the start of training it was 15st 4lbs.
“And the weigh-in is this Friday which is made at 11st 7lbs. And I’m 11st 7lbs now.
“It’s been a long way to come. I’m 44years of age, and the shape that I’ve got myself in has taken a lot of hard work.
    Most read in Boxing
“It’s been great to give myself a target, a goal. It’s been great for my own wellbeing.
“I’ve had so many message of support from people who have struggled with their weight. They say to see my from where I was a few years ago to where I am now is an inspiration.
“It makes me feel very, very proud that I’m not just going to be back in the ring again, and hear the roar of the crowd again, but it’s also that it’s inspired people. That’s more important for me.”
It was an all-too-rare TV appearance that sparked Hatton’s transformation and a clear out of his wardrobe even more ruthless than his assault on the super-lightweight division.
“I went in and filmed A Question of Sport three weeks before I started training,” he said.
“I’d been in camp for eight weeks when they told me it was coming on.
“I flicked it on and went “F***ing hell!’.
“I was alright mentally and I have been for a while but when I saw the show I emptied my entire wardrobe.
“I’ve got a new wardrobe now, I’m a 30in waist at the minute. I’ve got a few 32s. As soon as the 32s get a bit too tight, I’m not going for the 34s again.
    “If I can’t get the button fastened, I don’t f***ing go out!”
The dance with the 48-year-old Mexican warhorse was originally scheduled for July 2 but suffered a postponement.
He handled the heartbreak and extended training camp with typical humour and honesty.
He said: “Physically I’d look in the mirror at 15 stone and think, ‘Rick, you don’t look too bad’ and it never bothered me while I was fighting, because in six or seven weeks I’d be back training and it would come off anyway.
    ‘IT’S BEEN SO INSPIRING’
“But I’m 44 now, I can’t keep dragging some poor f***er out of retirement every time I want to get some weight off!
“I’ve enjoyed the compliments, people coming up to me with mental health and saying, ‘f***ing hell, Rick, I’ve been struggling with my weight and seeing you shift all that weight has made me want to’.
“Then other people have said, ‘Jesus, Ricky, seeing you a few years ago with all that weight, suicidal, wanting to kill yourself, heavily drinking, heavily into drugs, the way you were, to see you now, it’s been so inspiring’.
“So even when the original fight was postponed, I knew it had not been for nothing.
“It was the first training camp I had in 10 years and now I’ve had two in 10 years. I’ve stayed on top of things, I do 10-rounds of sparring, I wouldn’t have been able to in the last time. Now I can.
“Nobody can say this exhibition is a bad thing. When fighters make comebacks, you never want to see your heroes being bashed up or hurt. In an exhibition, it’s controlled.
“You can see your heroes for one last time, showcase their skills, with the knowledge they won’t get hurt.

“With me, people who have struggled with their weight and depression, the shape of me now, the way I’m talking, how I’ve changed. I’m not ready for my pipe and slippers yet.
“It’s inspired a lot of people, I’ll hear the crowd roar again and share the ring with Marco, it’s a dream. I can’t see a negative thing about it.”

As a result, his body fat went up 12 per cent, having gone from 15st 7lb to 16st 7lb, paving the way for a two-month transformation.
He said: “I did an experiment, I stopped doing any exercise and started eating what everybody else was eating.
“And as a result, this is what transpired. I’ve turned into a mere mortal I’ve got ridiculous rolls of fat on the side.
“Body fat went from ten per cent to 22-and-a-half per cent in three months just by doing what everybody else is doing.

“I’m not overeating, I was just easting desserts, just drinking alcohol with everybody else and this is what happens.”

The retired boxer gave an insight into his tricks, which includes loading up on nutrients, minerals and vitamin rich food.

So it will leave the British boxing legend hungry for results, which he plans to reveal in the new year.
Haye retired after consecutive losses to Tony Bellew but returned for an exhibition last year against his friend Joe Fournier.
And the millionaire businessman-turned 9-0 boxer admitted he wished his ex-sparring partner came out of shape for their eight-rounder.
He joked: “F*** me why couldn’t you have been in that shape when we fought.”

Inside Deji’s stunning TWO STONE weight loss as secrets to transformation are revealed ahead of Floyd Mayweather fight

YOUTUBE boxing star Deji has undergone an incredible TWO STONE weight loss thanks to a rigorous strength and conditioning regime. The social media influencer weighed 14st 6lb the night he was beaten by TikToker Vinnie Hacker in July 2021 after being stopped on his feet.

But in August, at his fourth attempt, Deji finally won his first fight by beating American Fousey and did so after weighing 12st 2lb.
His transformation was evident not only in his body but also his skills as he dispatched of Fousey in three rounds, flooring him in the process.
And it has somehow landed him an unthinkable eight-round exhibition bout against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather on Sunday.
One of the men behind Deji’s stunning turnaround is S&C coach Leon Wills, who also works with his brother KSI and 6-0 pro boxer Viddal Riley.

And Wills, ahead of Deji’s fight with Mayweather in Dubai, admits it was not plane sailing when he linked up with the unconfident YouTuber.
Wills told SunSport: “When I first got him, I thought, ‘I don’t know if this guys up for it, I dunno if he’s got the drive or the motivation.’
“I didn’t know if he’d be able to swim in the deep waters that I was going to take him to, so that was the issue.
“But he knew that I was rating him, so he knew he had to give it his all and more than what he wanted to give it just to satisfy me.”

Wills started working with Deji, 25, in the last month before his eventual win over Fousey, 32, on KSI’s undercard.
It came following three consecutive losses, to the likes of Jake Paul, 25, and Alex Wassabi, 32, where fitness was perhaps his biggest downfall.
Wills said: “I wanted to make sure he had the engine and the mindset because when you come off three losses you’re down in the dumps.
“So I had to build him up mentally and rewire his mind basically, that was the main goal.
“I was going to his house, watching extra study with him, watching boxing, doing drills, repetition, repetition, repetition.”
When Wills got his hands on Deji, he realised it was time for tough love and revealed the secret to their success was simply hard work.

He said: “Deji has to do the non-negotiables. The push-ups, the abs, the runs. And then doing his boxing, it all builds up.
“With Deji, because he doesn’t come from an athletic background, he’s just been a YouTuber, on his computer sitting at home, I have to give him a more vigorous schedule than others athletes.
“With Viddal I can easily do three-four S&C sessions a week, with Deji it’s got to be five-six S&C sessions just to break the mould of what he’s had.
“I have to push him through a lot, it’s hard but it’s more of a mental thing now.”
In just Wills’ second fight with Deji, he prepares him to share the ring with one of boxing’s greatest alongside head trainer Daley Perales.
They travel to Dubai ahead of an exhibition with Mayweather, 45, at the Coca-Cola Arena knowing they have nothing to lose.

Wills said: “This is just an exhibition, it’s not a title fight.
“Deji will be the least experienced boxer to ever share the ring with a world champion, let alone Floyd.
“So for Deji it’s just a learning curve, go in there try new things, just learn, enjoy the moment and when you get out of here, go back into your YouTube boxing realm.”
