    CHERRY ON THE CAKE
The Bournemouth man is now the European and British cruiserweight champion as well as the Commonwealth.
Great night for the Shane McGuigan gym that has niotched wins for Anthony Fowwler and CBS.

    A brilliant contest…
    ROUND ELEVEN
McCarthy scores with a couple of counters.
CBS walks onto to a piledriver of a right hook but he does not fold, somehow.
The pair almost bundle out of the ring together when they wrestle too close to the ropes.
These fellas are giving the fans everything…
    ROUND TEN
McCarthy scores with a right hand but he admires it too long and CBS pings him with a double jab.
McCarthy now has a gash on the left cheek, well below the eye but definitely painful.

McCarthy seems to have more in the tank…
    ROUND EIGHT
CBS, the more muscley man, appears to be tiring in the final straight.
But he lands a peach of a left hook that stiffens McCarthy briefly.
Both men look set to go the distance now but whose style will the judges prefer?

    ROUND SEVEN
CBS lands a crisp one-two but McCarthy handles it.
The blood is pouring away from the corner of the Irishman’s right eye spo he should be OK.
McCarthy land an uppercut and right hand.

    ROUND SIX
McCarthy lands a looping right hand but CBS ignores it.
CBS eats a check right hook when McCarthy lures him on to it.
But just as the round ends McCarthy is badly cut over his right eye.
If the blood starts pouring into his eye he will struggle to see.

    ROUND FIVE
CBS has McCarthy hurt with a thudding right hook.
McCarthy is backed onto the ropes and battered but he pokes his tongue out into the crowed to ease his fans’ panic.
McCarthy looks spark out on his feet but CBS will not rush in.
The bell goes with McCarthy recovering from a real one-sided round.
Will CBS regret not pouring on the pressure when his man was buzzed?

Granados, who has lost to both Adrien Broner and Danny Garcia before, is likely to be Benn’s next experienced scalp.
But the 24-year-old can’t be too complacent, or he’ll be risking the potential to be Britain’s next big star in boxing.
    When is Benn vs Granados?

Benn’s big clash with the tough Granados will take place on Saturday, July 31.
The fight will take place in Brentwood, Essex at Matchroom HQ in the back garden.
There will be around 300 fans in attendance at the bout, with those supporters having shelled out ยฃ750 each for a ticket.

    What have they said?
“Do I believe I can win a world title? 100 per cent,” Benn has said.
โ€œThere will always be critics. There will always be naysayers. Itโ€™s impossible for them because thatโ€™s their mindset. Thatโ€™s why they sit on social media projecting their faults.
โ€œI donโ€™t think anything is impossible. If I wanted to switch and do whatever it is โ€” it could be absolutely anything โ€” Iโ€™ll make it successful. Itโ€™s not just boxing. Itโ€™s my mindset, itโ€™s what I do.
โ€œIโ€™ve had a target on my back ever since I turned pro because my dad is Nigel Benn. Itโ€™s as simple as that. โ€˜The Dark Destroyer,โ€™ the legend.
โ€œPeople like to call me silver spoon, but Iโ€™ve chosen the hardest sport in the world. I donโ€™t have to be here. I have everything to lose.
โ€œIโ€™m a winner โ€“ all round. Of course I want the big fights. I want to be the best fighter in Britain โ€“ which I believe I am. The rankings donโ€™t lie and Iโ€™m number one.โ€ More

Eddie Hearn snubbed by Sky Sports in final show with broadcaster after ten years before moving to rivals DAZN

EDDIE HEARN was snubbed by Sky Sports at his last show with the broadcasters over his move to rivals DAZN.After almost a decade as their exclusive boxing promoter, bringing through superstars like Anthony Joshua and Katie Taylor, the Matchroom boss has taken his stable to the streaming app in a five-year, ยฃ100million move.
Anthony Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn has signed a deal with DAZNCredit: Reuters
A 1000-fan card in Newcastle on Saturday was the sign-off but, at the end of the broadcast, there was no slot with Hearn and no package or montage of their most iconic moments.
Presenters Adam Smith and Johnny Nelson paid tribute to Hearn’s work but the Essex fight mogul confirmed he was blanked by the producers who are watching him take talent away from their channels.
At the launch of his three-week summer Fight Camp, when asked why he didn’t feature on his last ever Sky show, Hearn confirmed: “I wasn’t asked to.
“I think, at senior and executive level at Sky, our departure was met with understanding because they are aware of the size of the deal and the opportunity for us globally.
“I do think, at production level, there were people who probably thought, ‘We are not giving Eddie any air time on Saturday’.
“But that is alright, I never expected them to come out and glorify me when I am heading to a competitor.
“I am going to another platform to drive up their subscribers so they probably didn’t want to give me any airtime.
“They probably thought, ‘We have built Eddie up over the last 10 years and now he is off, so we will talk about our own new deal on Saturday’, which they did a lot of.

Conor Benn is among the fighters Hearn has taken to DAZNCredit: The Sun
“But it’s all fine and we thank them for the wonderful time. Without them we wouldn’t be here and vice versa.”
Hearn has already convinced rising stars like Conor Benn, Joshua Buatsi and Fabio Wardley to leave Sky and join his British boxing revolution online.
Joshua is not part of the deal but Hearn is working on getting Dillian Whyte nailed down to his new broadcasters.
He revealed: “Dillian is potentially going on our end-of-August show in America.
“We would like him to box twice this year, I think his next one might be slightly smaller than he is used to, because every other fight he is in seems to be a 50-50 war.
“We are just finalising that and we hope to announce that in the next week.”
Dillian is happy being with us and I expect to see him box twice this year on DAZN.Eddie Hearn

When asked if Hearn and subscription service DAZN were in a direct fight with Sky offering Whyte an alternative fight, he said: “Dillian is a pay-per-view fighter with Sky so he will have that opportunity.
“But that is not what we or DAZN want.
“In all our talks Dillian is happy being with us and I expect to see him box twice this year on DAZN.”

Hearn, who already promotes US shows on DAZN, also spoke about how he plans to change boxing when it comes to the production of his events.
Speaking on the Matchroom Radio Podcast, he said: “We’re not just gonna migrate the Sky team into DAZN.
“We’re gonna bring in industry legends, future hall of famers, fresh talent.
“But we’re not gonna bastardise production by trying to be ‘cool’.”
The deal Matchroom Boxing have signed with DAZN is believed to be worth around ยฃ100million.
Hearn has already promoted major US boxing shows on DAZN.
The most recent of those came last month when he put on Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s unification fight against Billy Joe Saunders in front of 70,000 fans in Texas.

Anthony Joshua still has an existing deal with Sky Sports despite being a Matchroom fighter.
The unified heavyweight champion has one fight left with Sky before he will assess his options moving forward.
Meanwhile, UK Matchroom fighters such as Dillian Whyte, Lawrence Okolie, Savannah Marshall and Callum Smith will have their next fights on DAZN – providing they remain with Hearn’s promotional team.
DAZN is current ยฃ1.99 per month in the UK, with the price point expected to rise later this year.
