Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin live stream and TV guide – how to watch massive heavyweight clash

ANTHONY JOSHUA faces American contender Jermaine Franklin this weekend in a huge heavyweight bout. AJ is looking to reassert himself at the top of the heavyweight division but needs to get a run of wins under his belt.

After losing his three belts to Usyk, and subsequently failing to win them back, even Joshua’s own promoter Eddie Hearn says his man’s star has fallen.
Back where it all began at the O2 on Saturday, however, Joshua can etch his name back into the minds of boxing fans.
Potential fights with Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder await, and there’s also been talk of a big rematch with rival Dillian Whyte.
But another loss will derail those plans, and Franklin will be looking to change his life forever with an upset victory.

How can I watch Joshua vs Franklin?
Joshua vs Franklin will be shown live on DAZN in the UK.

English football set for biggest shake up since 1960s with end to ‘medieval’ rules if DAZN win TV rights to matches

ALL 1,652 EFL matches will be screened if streaming giant DAZN wins the rights to matches from the 2024-25 season. The huge change would see the end of the “medieval” Saturday 3pm TV blackout that has been in operation since the mid-60s.

DAZN are among the bidders for the next three-season package of EFL rights, with competitors including Sky, Viaplay and TNT Sports, the new name for what was BT Sport until the takeover by Discovery.
EFL bosses are looking to increase the current package, worth £119m per season, to £200m plus, a huge potential financial lifeline for struggling clubs.
But the DAZN option would see a huge increase in the number of games available including the traditional Saturday afternoon slot, currently protected from broadcasting by Article 48 of Uefa Statutes.
DAZN argues that under the current system, with matches on Sky, lower division fans are being starved of the chance to watch their teams unless they go to the matches.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Only 20 games League One are shown each season, 10 in League Two and last season 26 of the 72 EFL clubs did not feature at all.
Sources close to DAZN, which boasts 20 million “premium” customers but a footprint across most major nations, suggest the existence of the blackout is a “medieval” anachronism which should no longer be part of the football structure in this country.

The blackout was introduced, at the instigation of then-Burnley chairman Bob Lord more than 50 years ago, in the belief that it would prevent TV football damaging attendances at other matches.
Prem chief executive Richard Masters declared earlier this month that he “didn’t see” the league’s backing for the blackout ending any time soon.

But EFL chiefs will have the right to lobby the FA to end the restriction if they do a deal with DAZN.
It is understood that DAZN feels a streaming deal covering all games across the three EFL divisions – the company would also be seeing a terrestrial partner – would widen access to fans, not just in this country but worldwide.
The company is understood to be confident that there would be no detrimental impact on crowds and that by making the EFL games more widely available it would actually increase interest in match-day attendance. More

Fournier is a professional boxer and is undefeated with a record of 9-0, lasting beating singer Reykon in his last fight.
He also faced his pal David Haye in an exhibition fight, but KSI is also arguably his own toughest test.
KSI is 4-0 as a boxer and is ultimately gearing all his efforts toward a huge fight with Jake Paul at the end of the year.
A win over pro boxer Fournier, would give him a one-up over Paul, who failed in his quest to defeat Tommy Fury earlier this year.

    When is KSI vs Fournier?

KSI takes on Fournier in a huge clash on Saturday, May 13.
The bout will be held at Wembley Arena in London.
Ring-walks for the main event can be expected around 10.30pm UK time.
The main card will get going from 7pm.

What channel is it on and can it be live streamed?

KSI vs Fournier will be shown live on DAZN PPV in the UK, with a a price yet to be announced for the event.
You can subscribe to DAZN in the UK for £9.99-a-month, which commits you to an entire year of action.
A flexible pass, worth £19.99-a-month, is also available, and you can cancel anytime.
You can also pay £99.99 for the year up front, and this is the lowest cost option.
The fight is available for live streaming on your mobile or tablet device from the DAZN app.
You can also watch DAZN 1 HD on Sky channel 429.

    KSI vs Fournier full card
The undercard for KSI vs Fournier is yet to be announced, but you can expect the usual contenders to appear.
The likes of Salt Papi and Slim Albaher could both be in action.

    What has been said?
“I can’t wait to show the world what Jake Paul couldn’t, knock out a pro boxer,” KSI said.
“Each fight, people are seeing a better KSI and I’m honestly scared for Fournier because once I land my right or left hand on his chin, it’s night night.
“As soon as people enter the ring with me, they realise they are in hell. And they either leave the ring bruised, battered or sleeping. In the ring, I am an evil man.”
Fournier added: “This is huge, it’s as big as it gets, it’s on DAZN pay-per-view at Wembley, against one of the biggest global superstars, not just in boxing.
“But I am going to break a lot of little hearts when they see KSI unconscious on the canvas.
“This is way too soon to fight me, but the deal is done, and just like Jake Paul, he will find out that when he gets into the ring with a real boxer, it’s a whole different ball game. He is in for a rude awakening.” More

This time, there are no belts on the line for Joshua, but the pressure couldn’t be any higher.
A win could see him catapulted into another world title shot, but a loss may send the former two-time champ into retirement.
Joshua is back at the O2 Arena for the first time since his first title defence against Dominic Breazeale in 2016.
Now he’s back – and with a cracking undercard to boot as well.

Who is on the Joshua vs Franklin undercard?
Craig Richards takes on Ricards Bolotniks in a light-heavyweight bout on the AJ-Franklin undercard.
Elsewhere, Felix Cash and Ammo Williams are in separate bouts, and if they both win, a summer fight between the pair is on the cards.
Prospect Jordan Flynn is also on the card against Kane Baker, as is heavyweight Fabio Wardley.

What did KSI say about Wade Plemons?

KSI and Misfits Boxing presenter Wade Plemons have become embroiled in some serious Twitter beef.Plemons is a famous YouTuber and is usually seen on DAZN’s broadcast interviewing fighters and talking about fights in general.
KSI has had some choice word for Misfits Boxing presenter Wade PlemonsCredit: Getty
But recently, Plemons uploaded a video to his YouTube channel in which he spoke about a potential KSI vs Jake Paul match-up.
Plemons stated in the video, titled ‘KSI vs Jake Paul.. Is NOT Happening’, that a fight between Paul and Floyd Mayweather would sell more PPVs.
He also said that Paul would most likely want to entertain a rematch with Tommy Fury first.
But the claims have irked KSI.

What did KSI say about Wade Plemons?
“Man, f*** Wade,” KSI ranted on Twitter.
“This Wade guy plays all sides. Trying to please everyone. You are so fake, omg. F* you and everything you stand for, you two-faced c*.
“This man acts like he knows everything about boxing. He doesn’t know s***. You’re not that guy.”
KSI’s manager Mams Taylor then confirmed that Plemons had been let go from Misfits Boxing.

“Have fun on KingPyn,” he jokingly remarked in reference to a rival crossover boxing promotion on a Twitter Space.
“It wasn’t over today he got fired.
“It’s been long coming. I’ve been nothing but fair with Wade. People can have the wrong impression of me, I don’t care.
“But they know JJ better than that. Obviously, there is more to it than just today’s video. A lot more.
“DAZN didn’t know anything about Wade before I insisted he would be brought in.”
Paul, however, has criticised KSI and Taylor over it, backing Plemons in the process.
“Such insecure clowns,” Paul said. “Wade is quality. Plays it down the middle.
“Says things about me I don’t like, but that just means he’s keeping his opinions real. Now back to my vacation.” More

‘Who actually watched that?’ – Joshua Buatsi launches blistering attack on Eddie Hearn after leaving DAZN for Sky Sports

JOSHUA BUATSI has launched a blistering attack on Eddie Hearn after leaving him for Sky Sports. The 30-year-old was the quiet and respectful man of the light-heavyweight division, after clinching bronze at the 2016 Olympics and climbing to 16-0 as a pro under the Matchroom boss.
Joshua Buatsi has launched a blistering attack on Eddie HearnCredit: PA
Eddie Hearn has lost Joshua Buatsi to Sky SportsCredit: Getty
But the Ghana-born Croydon ace – who has had his career stalled by injuries and inactivity – was raging when Hearn took his stable to upstart streaming app DAZN in 2021.
And he was even more furious recently when Hearn claimed he had ducked a £1million world title shot against Russian champion Dmitry Bivol, leading him to jump ship back to Sky Sports and their new promoters BOXXER.
At his hometown unveiling, Buatsi fumed: “Matchroom promised me a world title shot over and over again; ‘Beat Ricards Bolotniks (August ‘21) and you’ll get it’. Then it was: ‘Beat Craig Richards (May ‘22) and you’ll get it’.
“But there were always excuses about writing to the WBA and then it never happened.
    READ MORE IN boxing
“I wanted to avoid this topic too but Eddie came out and said I turned down the Bivol fight for £1million.
“But we had a conversation in confidence that he went public with but he only publicised half of the sentence.
“He left out all the caveats they wanted included; the contract extensions and extra fights with Matchroom.
“I took those unmentioned extras as two or three more years on DAZN, two more three years of no publicity and nobody seeing my fights.

HOW TO GET FREE BETS ON THE CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL
“I thought I might win a world title on a channel that hardly anybody has access to, let alone watches.
“So when Eddie comes out and just says ‘he turned down a world title offer and £1m’ that is not the truth.
“There was a lot more to that offer but he just doesn’t want to tell the public, he just wants to shape their minds.
“It’s unfortunate because most of the public believes what Eddie says but if you were to track and trace everything Eddie says everyday, you would go mad!
“The story changes so frequently that people need to look a bit deeper.
“If you just pick up and notice the pattern of this guy you cannot believe everything he says.”
SunSport has contacted Matchroom and DAZN for a right to reply to Buatsi’s stinging criticism and he is not usually such a controversial or confrontational speaker.
But he has been quietly fuming with his once-sparkling career nosediving under the radar since Hearn took a mega-money deal to leave Sky and take his table around the globe online – and he claims he is not the only one.
We were in a great fight and then I wondered ‘who actually watched that?’ I didn’t even have the app!Joshua Buatsi on fighting Craig Richards on DAZN
He said: “I understand why other fighters at Matchroom are getting frustrated because I felt that after Craig Richards.
“We were in a great fight and then I wondered ‘who actually watched that?’ I didn’t even have the app!
“If it had been on Sky Sports, all those well-known channels and numbers, it would have been widely watched.
“After being in such a good fight, an all-English fight, I realised that I needed to be more seen in England.
“I want the people of England to be saying to their friends and family ‘tune in to Spy Sports on Saturday, Buatsi is fighting’.
“Even though I am young, I don’t want to be downloading apps and entering bank details every time I want something. Boxing fans need to be able to access the fights and the fighters.
“I didn’t want to have to deal with this stuff really, around the new announcement, but it all links in.
“When Matchroom left Sky and joined DAZN they took all of their fighters with them, the fighters did not get a say, they were not allowed to question the fact that it was a new app that needed time to grow and develop.

Promoter Ben Shalom with Joshua BuatsiCredit: PA
“None of that was offered, we were told we had to go.
“My last two fights were good fights against good opponents but not many people saw them. So it’s not a strange idea to see what I am here.
“Fighters work hard to get here, we have the skills and the heart to get here and then we want the recognition for it and I think that is fair.”
Hearn is in Mexico promoting the undisputed super-middleweight fight between superstar champion Canelo Alvarez and Islington’s John Ryder.
But he has claimed on his trip that his company has matching rights for Buatsi’s next bout, suggesting this battle is far from over.
Buatsi said: “I was a free agent who has just now signed with BOXXER so Matchroom will say whatever they want to say.
“Matchroom had matching rights for my next fight and I gave them third-party notice, they matched some parts of it but I stated they must match all of the points and they didn’t.
“They can’t match some of the requests and not all. It doesn’t work like that.

“I told them what the important matters to me were and that they had to match them – because I am the fighter.
“I chose to go with BOXXER because they could provide the certain things that I wanted.”

    Weighty issue
It seems like agreeing on a weight will be the main sticking point in getting a Wett vs Brooke fight over the line.

    Misfits recap
So tonight is fight night No 5 for KSI’s new promotional brand.
It seems to be getting bigger and bigger and has just signed a new five-year deal with DAZN.
Tonight is one of the smaller, regular events on the calendar.
The PPV shows I’ve seen in London twice have been spectacular but this is the first time seeing a regular show up close.
If Telford is anything like the O2 Arena or Wembley Arena shows from the last seven months then it should be fun.

    Location
Telford, lovely Telford. What to say about this place.
It’s not an area of England many people would have visited for sure.
It’s around a two-hour drive north of London and 90-minutes south of Manchester.
There’s not an awful lot here other than the International Centre which is hosting tonight’s event.
I have family here so am here quite often. One cousin keeps telling me about a famous bridge they have called ‘Ironbridge’. Look it up if you want.
    Center stage
Tonight’s female bout will see Astrid Wett take on AJ Bunker.
The fight will see Only Fans star Astrid take on former Love Island reality contestant AJ.
Astrid would like to complete her boxing hattrick after her fight with Bunker, with a bout against fellow OnlyFans star Elle Brooke.
AJ made her boxing debut against Astrid’s nemesis Brooke last August.
Chelsea fan Astrid then watched ringside as Brooke made her return against American influencer Faith Ordway in January.
