‘Infatuated’ Ryan Giggs sent X-rated poem to girlfriend Kate Greville after calling her ‘my sunshine’ in flirty texts

RYAN Giggs sent his former girlfriend Kate Greville an X-rated poem saying she makes him “hard as a totem pole” after a string of flirty messages, a court heard. The former Manchester United player is on trial accused of assaulting his ex, as well as controlling and coercive behaviour towards her.

Manchester Crown Court heard how Giggs, 48, sent Ms Greville a number of messages, saying he was “infatuated” as he described her as “my sunshine” and “my one and only”.
She later sent the former football star a poem, which included the line “everyday you do me proud, because you’re well endowed”.
The court heard how this then prompted Giggs to pen an X-rated poem in response, which included the line “you make me feel funny down there…when you look up and stare”.
Giggs – who denies all charges he faces – also wrote about “those pictures you sent so I can keep tabs on you” in the piece, jurors were told.
    More on Ryan Giggs
It comes after the court heard how Giggs used his teenage daughter as leverage to try to stop his ex-girlfriend’s sister dialling 999 during a drunken row.
Giggs is accused of headbutting then-partner Ms Greville before threatening to do the same to her younger sibling Emma at his home in Greater Manchester.
As Giggs returned to the witness box for a second day of cross-examination, Manchester Crown Court was told Emma called police after the argument on November 1, 2020, turned violent.
Giggs allegedly placed his hands on Ms Greville’s shoulders and headbutted her in the lip “with lots of force” before yelling at Emma: “I’ll headbutt you next.”
    Most read in The Sun
Prosecutor Peter Wright QC told jurors he had tried to use “emotional blackmail” to stop Emma going into detail to the cops, which he denied.
Ms Greville can be heard saying to her then-boyfriend in the background of the call: “I don’t care if your daughter is 17, I don’t care about your daughter.”
Mr Wright asked Giggs, 48, whether he was “seeking to dissuade” Emma from reporting the incident further, to which he replied: “Yes.”
Mr Wright added: “And you were seeking to use your daughter as the lever, weren’t you?”
    The ex-Wales manager responded: “Yes.”
Giggs was arrested on suspicion of assaulting Ms Greville, 38, following the incident at his home in Worsley, but today he denied the attack after “completely losing his self-control”.
Mr Wright quizzed him about the prepared statement he gave to police the day after the incident, in which he said a “scuffle” broke out over Ms Greville’s phone, and that his head clashed with hers accidentally.
Mr Wright said: “The reality is you headbutted her, didn’t you?”, to which Giggs replied: “No.”
The prosecutor then said: “Because in this dispute with her, you had, by that stage, completely lost your self control.”
    The former footballer repeated: “No.”
He also denied threatening to headbutt Ms Greville’s youngster sister Emma in a drunken rage.
Giggs told the court he “didn’t know” why he had put in his police statement: “On both occasions I was attacked.”
And he agreed with Mr Wright that it was “an important assertion to be making”.

Giggs also denied intending to harm Ms Greville “emotionally or physically”, insisting that was “the last thing I would ever want to do”.

The court yesterday heard how Giggs told Kate “I’ll stalk you like mad – I’m good at that” before turning up at her home after they split up.
In a series of emails, the ex-Wales boss allegedly threatened to go to her property while warning: “I will get in.”

The footballer allegedly told the woman “the door is locked anyway” when she begged to leave his bedroom.
The £52million defender is accused of 10 offences against seven women as young as 17 between October 2018 and August last year.
He denies eight counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and one count of attempted rape.
Mendy’s co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, 40, is accused of eight counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault relating to eight women, which he also denies.

At the fourth day of his trial today, the jury was played a pre-recorded police interview with Woman Two – the footballer’s second alleged victim.
Woman Two has accused Mendy of three counts of rape against her in October 2020.
The alleged victim – who cannot be named for legal reasons – met Mendy and others at a bar before heading to a party in his Cheshire mansion.
Once there, she claims Mendy took her phone and began “going through her pictures” – before taking the device upstairs to his bedroom.
    Most read in The Sun
He used a “touchscreen fingerprint” to open the door, she claims, which was closed behind them.
The woman said she told Mendy: “I want my phone, I don’t want to have sex with you. I just want to go.”
When she asked to leave again, Mendy allegedly replied: “I promise you, I just want to look at you. You can’t get out anyway.”
The woman told cops she removed her clothes because she felt it was the “lesser of two evils”.
The woman said: “I thought just get undressed and then at least you don’t have to do anything with him.”
She says he then pushed her on the bed and began “thrusting against her” and “pulling her bum towards him”.
After the woman said she “needs to go”, Mendy allegedly raped her.
The jury heard she was raped three times by Mendy in the next 20 minutes or so, as she told him: “I don’t want to do that. I don’t want to have sex with you. I need to go.”
She told the court: “My body was so tense. It was just this pain.”
When the woman – who said she was left bleeding after the assault – refused to carry out a sex act on Mendy, he said she was “too shy”, the court heard.
She claims she then told him: “I’m not shy, I just don’t want to have sex with you.”
Mendy allegedly replied: “It’s fine, I’ve had sex with 10,000 women.”
He added “don’t tell anyone and you can come over here every night”, like it was a “privilege” to have sex with him, she said.
In the police interview, Woman Two told cops: “What makes me upset is how many times I said no.
“I didn’t just say no. I said: ‘I don’t want to have sex with you’.
“I was very clear and that was not listened to. I’ve never experienced anything like that before.
“It could not have been misinterpreted in any way.”
Yesterday, Mendy was accused of “exposing his penis” to his first alleged victim – Woman One – while she showered.
The court heard how Mendy told Woman One “I’m going to kidnap you” on a night out.
Mendy first met Woman One along with her friend in Barcelona in 2017.
Woman One travelled to the UK the following year to see her friend and Mendy. The group went on a night out to two clubs.
At one of the clubs, Mendy allegedly told Woman One: “When he is not looking, I’m going to kidnap you.”
The following morning, the woman took a shower at Mendy’s house.
While she was showering, Mendy entered the room and “held himself in his private area”, the woman said.
She tried to grab her underwear but Mendy kept “obstructing her”, the court heard.
What makes me upset is how many times I said no. I didn’t just say no. I said: ‘I don’t want to have sex with you’.Woman Two
Woman One told cops: “He kept forcing himself to see me and take off my towel.
“I kept pushing him away to the point where he kept grabbing me back.”
She claims Mendy then sat on the bed and “put her on top of him” – before “holding her down” as she tried to push him away.
Woman One added: “I was clinging on to my towel so it would not come undone.”
The woman claims Mendy removed his boxers and moved his penis near to her.
She told cops: “He was saying things like ‘are you scared? You don’t have to be scared’.
“I kept thinking where are his friends? Why is no one here? Shall I scream? There’s no point.
“He’s in his own territory, what am I going to do?”
On Monday, the jury were told harrowing details of the alleged rapes – including the day Mendy allegedly attacked THREE women.
On July 23 and into July 24, there was a pool party, a trip to a nightclub and a post-club party back at Mendy’s “isolated” mansion.
During this time, Mendy allegedly raped three women – one aged 22 and two aged 19.
One of the 19-year-olds was also allegedly raped by Saha Matturie.
The mansion was allegedly “part and parcel” of how Mendy and Saha Matturie were able to abuse their alleged victim.

Timothy Cray QC said there were five dates – between October 2018 and August 2021 – when nine young women arrived at Mendy’s address.

Ms Greville, a PR executive, said during her evidence that there were arguments including one involving how to load the dishwasher.
She alleged ex-Manchester United player Giggs – who is on is on trial accused of assaulting his former partner, as well as controlling and coercive behaviour towards her, would make “me feel like I was stupid”.
Ms Greville told Manchester Crown Court: “I had to do it exactly the way he wanted to do it. That’s just one example of many.”

He said that during the lockdown his daughter and her boyfriend were at the house in Worsley, Greater Manchester, most of the time, with his son also staying regularly.
Asked by his barrister Chris Daw QC whether he was “particularly keen on dishwasher loading technique”, Giggs said the dishwasher was often on three or four times a day due to the number of people staying in the house.
He said: “I would be opening the dishwasher and the tablespoons would be the wrong way round.
“It would wind me up because I would have to do it again, so I called a team meeting and just said, ‘Everyone, can you please put the tablespoons the right way round’.

On the night in question, Giggs is alleged to have headbutted his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville in a row over infidelity.
Giggs, who yesterday confessed to being a “love cheat” who has never stayed faithful to a woman, told the court it started at the Stock Exchange Hotel after Kate said a man had asked her out the previous week.

He later apologised to the 14-year-old, who has autism.
Earlier this month, the Portuguese star was interviewed by police under caution in relation to an alleged assault and criminal damage.
In a statement on Wednesday, Merseyside Police told the Mirror: “We can confirm that a 37-year-old man voluntarily attended and was interviewed under caution in relation to an allegation of assault and criminal damage.
“The allegation relates to an incident following the Everton v Manchester United football match at Goodison Park on Saturday 9 April.

In a post online, Ronaldo said: “It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing.
“Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.
“I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship.”
He had been visibly angry as he made his way off the turf following the Red Devils’ dismal loss at the hands of struggling Everton.
The United superstar appeared to lash out as he headed back to the away team dressing room.

After the incident, Jacob’s mum Sarah Kelly said: “At full-time the United players started walking off.
“We were right by the tunnel – my son was there, videoing them all.
“Ronaldo then just walked past, with a terrible, terrible temper, and smashed the phone out of his hand.”
She said she was left in tears and Jacob was in “complete shock”.
“He’s really upset and it’s put him off going to the game again. We had an absolutely brilliant day up until those final few seconds,” she said.
The news today comes amid a difficult few weeks for Ronaldo.

His future has been the subject of intense speculation all summer, with reports he wants to leave United in order to play Champions League football.
This week, former United team-mate Gary Neville implored the star to “stand up now and speak,” criticising his decision to wait to tell fans what’s really happening.
But Ronaldo has since issued a statement to say “the truth” would be revealed when he participates in an interview in a couple of weeks time.
He added: “The media is telling lies. I have a notebook and in the last few months of the 100 news I made, only 5 were right.”
Ronaldo returned to pre-season late amid the reports of his exit, and was subsequently only named on the bench to face Brighton on the opening day.
