Brentford have also condemned the abuse in the “strongest possible terms”.

“Ivan will receive the full backing from the club and from the Brentford fans who we have already seen condemning the abuse.

“We expect strong support from the police, legal authorities and from Instagram’s parent company, Meta, to ensure that the individual involved faces the full force of the law for this despicable hate crime.”
Toney and teammate Rico Henry were previously racially abused at Goodison Park after Brentford’s 3-2 win over Everton last season.
The striker has continued to impress this season – netting eight goals and two assists so far.
That means he is level pegging in the Prem’s top scorers’ chart with Spurs talisman Harry Kane.
Only Manchester City phenom Erling Haaland has more league goals after bagging 15 in his incredible start to the season.
Man Utd are now keeping tabs on the star as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo if he leaves in January.

He has now been arrested on suspicion of contacting his alleged victim in a breach of those conditions.
Greenwood is being quizzed by cops after officers swooped on his £15,000-a-month mansion this morning.
A GMP spokesman said: “Greater Manchester Police are aware of an allegation regarding a 21-year-old man breaching his bail conditions and an arrest has been made on Saturday 15 October 2022.
“Enquiries are ongoing at this time.”

The striker has been waiting to discover his fate since he was first held in January this year.
He spent three nights in custody after he was arrested at his rented home in Bowdon, Greater Manchester.
Greenwood was bailed on February 2 and has been keeping a relatively low profile since.
He was originally due to answer his bail on April 30 but the decision was pushed back after a court hearing in June.

The England international remains suspended by Utd but still receives his £75,000-a-week salary pending the outcome of any criminal proceedings.
The club were previously forced to release a statement confirming there has been no change to Greenwood’s status.
Utd initially said it did “not condone violence of any kind,” but later suspended Greenwood after cops launched a probe.
But some eagle-eyed fans discovered the player was still visible on the club’s website – leading to speculation he could be reinstated.
The statement from Utd read: “There has been no change whatsoever in Mason’s status.
“We removed his profile from the club app soon after he was removed from the squad in January.
“This was in order to remove Mason from interactive elements of the app, such as team predictions etc.
“However, his profile was never removed from the website as he remains a Manchester United player, albeit not currently part of the squad while the legal process unfolds.”
    MASON ARREST
Greenwood has been removed from FIFA 22 and dropped by sponsors Nike in the wake of the allegations.
Football Manager 2022 has also confirmed he will not feature in the game.
All merchandise bearing the No11’s name has been axed from the official Utd site and teammates have unfollowed him on Instagram.
Greenwood’s promising domestic and international career remains in jeopardy.
He last played for the Red Devils on January 22 when the team beat West Ham 1-0.
The player joined Utd aged just six and rose through the ranks to land himself a regular spot on the first team.
In 2019, he became the youngest footballer to play for Utd in the Champions League when he took to the pitch aged just 17.

Calls for Neymar to face FIVE YEARS in prison as Brazil superstar goes on trial over 2013 transfer to Barcelona

A BRAZILIAN investment firm has called for Neymar to be put in prison for FIVE YEARS on fraud and corruption charges. The 30-year-old will stand trial in Barcelona on Monday just weeks before he is due to run out for Brazil at the World Cup.

Neymar faces charges over his move from Santos to Barcelona in 2013.
Investment firm DIS owned 40 per cent of the rights to Neymar at the time of the transfer.
But the company argue they lost out on a fair share of the fee because the now Paris Saint-Germain star was sold for below his value.
Barcelona paid €57.1million (£50m) at the time to sign Neymar from the Brazilian club, with €40m (£35m) of that paid to his family.

DIS invested €2m (£1.7m) in buying a chunk of Neymar’s rights when he was 17, and received a 40 per cent share of the €17.1m (£15m) leftover from the transfer.
And they argue they should have received more money.
A DIS lawyer said yesterday: “Neymar’s rights have not been sold to the highest bidder. There were clubs that offered up to 60m euros.”
His lawyers argued that “The rules of free competition do not operate since the transfer from one club to another depends on the free will of the player.”

They added: “The player is not a service or a commodity. He is a person of his own free will.”
Neymar previously denied the fraud and corruption allegations but lost a Spanish High Court appeal in 2017, so the trial has now been called by Spanish prosecutors.
He has to be there for the first day of the trial on Monday, but it’s unknown if he will have to stay for the entire two-week hearing.
Spanish prosecutors are seeking a two-year prison sentence for Neymar and a €10m (£8.6m) fine.
Neymar’s two parents, Barcelona, Santos, ex-Barca presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, plus ex-Santos president Odilio Rodrigues are all also standing trial.
Like Neymar, Rosell has previously denied any wrongdoing.

DIS want Rosell and Bartomeu to be jailed along with Neymar, as well as being slapped with a whopping €149m (£129m) fine.
Meanwhile Spanish prosecutors want Rosell to be jailed for five years and Barca handed an €8.4m (£7.3m) fine.

Neymar’s lawyers have said Spanish courts “lack jurisdiction to prosecute the Neymar family” because the transfer involved Brazilian nationals and happened in Brazil.
The alleged crimes are not punishable in the South American country, and Neymar’s lawyers said the transfer had not broken any Fifa regulations.

He was charged last month with a breach of FA Rule E3 relating to improper and/or violent conduct.
Ironically he reached the magic mark of 700 club goals in scoring the winner for United in Sunday night’s 2-1 win over the Toffees.
The 37-year-old is now poised to lead the line in Thursday’s Europa League clash with Omonia Nicosia.
He will do so determined to clear his name over the incident the previous time he was at the home of the Toffees.

Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag revealed his response to the charge – after the club vowed to back him.
The Dutchman declared : “We spoke about that. He will not accept it.”
The FA will still examine the case no matter Ronaldo’s response because it was considered to be a non-standard incident.

He publicly apologised following the incident as Jake Harding, 14, tried to film him with his phone as he limped off the pitch.
He appeared to angrily slap the phone out of the boy’s hand and his mother Sarah Kelly claimed he was left with a bruised hand.
Ronaldo said sorry on social media and invited the boy to be his guest for a game at Old Trafford.
He wrote: “It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing.
“Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.
“I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship.”
However, the boy rejected Ronaldo’s invitation and his mother also criticised United’s response to the incident.

Brazen burglars switch to targeting top-flight footballers when they are home — because it’s easier to break in

BRAZEN burglars have switched to targeting footballers when they are home — because it is easier to break in.The gang has moved away from away day raids when stars were out at matches as they became wary of alarms quickly alerting police and security teams.
Last week, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and fiancée Perrie Edwards were at home when they were burgled
A source said: “It’s five or six guys loosely connected to Salford and very professional.
“They used to take down cash vans in the 1990s before it got too difficult.
“They spend ages casing a joint and are not afraid to take a risk if the reward is there.
“They know if they break in when no one is home the modern systems are so good they will only have minutes before the cops or security turn up.
    READ MORE ON CRIME
“But when players are home they don’t have the systems on, so if they can get in, they can spend more time in the house.
“It raises fears that stars will be confronted and get seriously hurt at some point.”
Last week, Liverpool ace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and fiancée Perrie Edwards were at their £3.5million Cheshire home with their son when a gang struck.
EXTRA TERRORFormer Met Police Detective Chief Inspector Mick Neville
ANY burglary is a terrifying thing for anyone to go through but it’s even more so if you are at home when it happens.
Footballers are being targeted by a highly organised gang who are willing to come face-to-face to take what they want.
Home security systems protect properties brilliantly when they are on.
But people don’t set house alarms when they are relaxing with their family.
It brings a real threat that a footballer or their wife or children could be seriously injured because most of the time these robbers are armed with knives.

The thugs, in boiler suits to avoid leaving DNA traces, used a ladder to reach a window.

The incident occurred as around 1,000 away supporters were being escorted from the stadium back into Brussels city centre.
Brussels police said a number of fans near the front of the group “became aggressive” towards cops who deployed the vicious spray to “push them back”.
Irons supporter Adam Brown, 28, said: “It was horrible, my eyes were burning like there was no tomorrow.
“We were half-way back in the crowd, miles from any trouble if there was any. Innocent people were affected. It’s not on at all.”

No West Ham fans were arrested in Belgium and were said to be otherwise impeccably behaved.
Met Police sent four officers to the Belgian capital in a strictly liaison capacity.
SunSport has been told Met reps “shrugged it off” and adopted a “not our problem” attitude when fans complained about use of pepper-spray.
A Met statement said: “As people were leaving the stadium following the match, our officers were alerted by fans there had been disorder.

Earlier this year, Paris police apologised for using tear gas on Liverpool supporters during disturbing chaos ahead of the Champions League final.
    Full Belgian police statement
In the course of Thursday night, our police forces had to intervene on three occasions in incidents where pepper-spray had to be used to ensure safety.
A first time involved a number of Anderlecht supporters who sought a confrontation with some passing West Ham fans before the start of the match.
In order to protect the West Ham supporters, pepper-spray was deployed against the Anderlecht fans.
A second incident occurred at the end of the match, when Anderlecht supporters tried in various ways to get close to VIPs.
Again, pepper-spray was used to ensure the stewards’ safety, among others.
Finally, there was a third incident during the escort of West Ham supporters after the match.
During this police escort, in which 1,000 fans were escorted to the centre of Brussels, certain supporters walking at the beginning of the escort became aggressive, and continued to put pressure on police forces.
A pushback of this group of supporters then occurred in which pepper-spray had to be used. More

Karren Brady: Upsetting scenes in Indonesia were football’s biggest nightmare revisited – all caused by fools in charge

THE suffocation of at least 125 fans in Kanjuruhan stadium, East Java, last Saturday was the latest horror at football matches across the world. Those Liverpool supporters who escaped the frantic Stade de France crush can only be thankful that wretchedly inadequate policing extended only twice to the firing of teargas into the crowd at last season’s Champions League final.

Liverpool fans can be ‘thankful’ tear gas was only used twice during the scandal of how supporters were treated at the Champions League final in MayCredit: Getty
It could have been worse. It appears, according to a French minister, that grenades or a form of handheld rubber bullet launchers were considered but would not have been “proportionate”.
In Malang, teargas was also the night’s tool and the fools in charge caused a massacre of the innocent.
This was no clash of rival supporters that got out of control. Far from it, away fans had been barred, ironically over worries that there would be clashes and only home club Arema followers were let in.
Sadly, shades of Hillsborough 1989. More than 4,000 over the 38,000 capacity squeezed into one area.
    REAM MORE IN FOOTBALL
Even this might have been controlled but when fans overflowed on to the pitch, the police reacted with volleys of teargas, some of it into the stands.
You can only imagine the mayhem. People fell, blinded, coughing and vomiting as others ran through them, desperate to escape, dying in the attempt.
This was football’s biggest nightmare revisited.
It reminds us of the importance of good policing, careful planning, sensible procedures, sensitive handling and a thorough understanding that panic and excitability are the enemies of crowd control, among police and stewards as well as crowds.

I refer to Paris because that was the arrogance of officialdom personified. It was where contempt among those paid to help make football attendance a generally pleasurable entertainment was running riot.
Police and clubs in England have learned from horrific incidents since Heysel in 1985 and beyond, that we must be scrupulous and vigilant in crowd control.
Most supporters are great. They want an entertaining match, watched in safety. But there is always the odd one that is out for trouble.
Football clubs have methods to catch the bringers of disgrace.
At the London Stadium we have 1,300 stewards, full policing inside and out, pin-sharp CCTV as well as an army of supporter liaison officers.
It wasn’t too long ago, in the 1980s particularly, that hooliganism was out of control in this country.
I remember hearing about the Zulus, a gang who purported to  support Birmingham. At St Andrew’s in 1985 (that year again) when hellraisers clashed with an equally grim Leeds gang, the pitch was a battleground.
The Leeds mob dodged fencing to fight the Zulus, who pulled up advertising hoardings and charged like a cinematic battle.
After 30 minutes of open warfare, the police mounted horses and chased the mob back to the stands.
Such was the crush that a wall collapsed on a fan and killed him.
Thank God we have not seen a repeat of this for decades.
Indonesian football is still blighted by hooliganism, heavy-handed policing and crowd mismanagement.
The dreadful result is all those lives lost, including around 32 children.
Various inquiries in Indonesia have been called for and the police — 18 officers so far have been arrested — will take much of the blame.
There were, according to the Arema coach, fans “dying in the arms of players”.  Utterly tragic. More
