Neil Warnock stars in hilarious Sky Sports Christmas advert with former players as fans brand him a ‘national treasure’

NEIL WARNOCK has been hailed as a “national treasure” after his Christmas advert for Sky Sports.Warnock most recently managed at Huddersfield but left in September by mutual consent.

… From David PruttonCredit: Sky Sports
The advert sees Warnock snuggled up on the sofa next to ex-player Clinton Morrison as they watch Sky’s Championship fixtures.
In a brilliant parody of Love Actually, David Prutton comes to Warnock’s door with a series of signs to declare his love of the manager.
Morrison is unaware of Prutton’s morally dubious declaration of love thanks to the first sign which reads “say it’s carol singers.”
A charmed Warnock then reads the signs that see him being linked with new managerial jobs including the likes of Manchester United, England and Spurs – though how much of a Christmas present it would be to manage any of those teams is debatable.

Warnock then delivers a line filled with Christmas joy, and tells viewers: “Everyone enjoy the football over Christmas, but enjoy it by being disciplined.”
The line is of course a nod to his furious rant as part of the 2000s Sheffield United documentary which followed his travails as Blades manager.
Fans were delighted with Warnock’s presence as part of their festive viewing.

For clarity, you don’t have to predict the exact outcomes of all five games to land the top prize – that would be asking too much – you simply have to outscore your rivals, meaning somebody must win.
Some of our previous winners this season landed amazing prizes having submitted their predictions in ten seconds through sheer gut instinct – it takes no time at all to play and it’s completely free.
Check out our predictions for Matchweek 17 below…
    Manchester United v Bournemouth
The Red Devils continue to confound supporters and pundits alike.
Having been totally outplayed by Newcastle last weekend, they then thoroughly outplayed Chelsea in midweek, though to what extent that was down to their efforts or the Blues’ failings is up for debate.
Erik ten Hag’s side are just three points behind Manchester City in the table but they’ve also lost the same number of games as Brentford and have a goal difference of zero.
    Most read in Dream Team
Generally, Man United have got the job done against bottom-half opposition this season, just not always in convincing fashion.
Add in home advantage and it seems like a good opportunity for Bruno Fernandes and company to take a step closer to the top four.
However, this is not a great time to play the Cherries.
Andoni Iraola’s men were all at sea until they flipped a switch three weeks ago.
Since then, they’ve beaten Newcastle, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace – they also drew with high-flying Aston Villa.
    All three results feel plausible…
Our Prediction: 2-1 to Man United
Aston Villa will be full of confidenceCredit: AFP
    Aston Villa v Arsenal
Without wanting to jinx it, this should be a cracking game.
The Villains produced one of the most impressive performances in recent memory to beat Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s side were restricted to just two shots while the hosts registered 22 – it was one-way traffic!
No doubt Unai Emery’s troops will have expended a lot of energy to claim the three points but the Gunners were involved in a breathless affair of their own at Luton on Tuesday night.
Villa boast the best home record in the top flight this season having won all seven fixtures, scoring 24 goals in the process.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side have the best away record in the league at present – they’re the only team to have won five games on the road this term.
If Villa produce the same performance again then it’s hard to envisage any side withstanding them but Arsenal are the league leaders for a reason.
    Another tough call…
    Our Prediction: 1-1 draw
    Consistently inconsistentCredit: GETTY
    Everton v Chelsea
Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been the scourge of Score Predictor users this season.
They recently beat Brighton and Tottenham either side of a compelling 4-4 draw with Man City but they also lost to Brentford and produced genuinely dismal performances away to Newcastle and Man United.
The stats say that both these sides are better on the road with the Toffees having won just once in the league at Goodison Park this campaign.
Instinctively, this one feels like a Sunday lunchtime snoozefest.
    Our Prediction: 0-0 draw

    Luton v Manchester City
The Hatters produced a noble effort against Arsenal but ultimately tasted defeat in midweek and this weekend they’re likely to face a wounded animal.
Erling Haaland and company will have a point to prove after a run of four league games without a win.
Rodri and Jack Grealish will return from suspension and it should be a case of normal order restored for the treble winners against a newly-promoted outfit currently 17th in the league – even that position is flattering because Everton have been docked ten points.
City have desperately struggled for clean sheets of late so we’ll back the hosts to give the Kenilworth Road faithful something to cheer at least.
Our Prediction: 3-1 to Man City
Every Spurs game is worth a watchCredit: Getty
    Tottenham v Newcastle
    Yet another humdinger on paper.
Ange Postecoglou’s men are determined to play their way no matter how many players are absent through injury or suspension.
Their gung-ho approach helped them snatch a draw at the Etihad and while the fans remain positive about their side’s long-term prospects, it’s simply a fact that Spurs have taken one point from their last four league games – though they may improve their recent record at home to West Ham tonight.
Newcastle have also been ravaged by injuries but, barring a surprise defeat at Bournemouth, their domestic results haven’t suffered.
In fact, they’ve recently notched impressive wins over Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United.
However, the Magpies have underwhelmed away from St James’ Park this season – they’ve taken just five points from six fixtures on the road.
Eddie Howe’s side travel to Everton this evening but at this stage we can only judge previous results.
    Our Prediction: 2-2 draw

Deontay Wilder throws spanner into works of Anthony Joshua showdown with major admission as Saudi face-off looms

DEONTAY WILDER has seemingly poured cold water on the prospect of fighting Anthony Joshua next. The long-time rivals will both be in action on a Christmas cracker of a card in Saudi Arabia on December 23, taking on Joseph Parker and Otto Wallin respectively.

Saudi boxing chiefs are seemingly hoping both men get through their respective challenges and take part in a mouthwatering face-off to promote their long-overdue showdown.
Wilder, however, intends to fight the winner of Tyson Fury’s eagerly-anticipated undisputed showdown with Oleksandr Usyk next.
During an appearance on The Last Stand Podcast, the former WBC heavyweight champion said, “If you’ve got all the belts, you’re gonna have to fight me.
“That’s still my goal – wipe out the entire division.”

Wilder and Joshua, 38 and 34 respectively, were cordial with one another during last month’s pre-fight press conference and even shook hands.
The American told Instant Casino: “I think I shocked a lot of people when I came with a cool, calm and collected attitude [to the press conference].
    “But that’s me all day.
“There’s a time and place for all things and that wasn’t the time and the place to come out with all the ‘I’ve been waiting on you AJ’ or say something like Jarrell Miller said.

“I didn’t have to say anything, everyone said what needed to be said, especially Jarrell Miller.
“I can’t stand him one bit, but he told the truth about AJ.”
Wilder is all too happy to face Joshua should the opportunity to face the winner of Fury vs Usyk fail to come to fruition.
Although he doesn’t foresee AJ’s long-time promoter and friend Eddie Hearn greenlighting their grudge match.
The Bronze Bomber told The Last Stand: “He don’t want that fight because he’s not confident in his product.
“Joshua is the only money-making fighter Matchroom has.
“They don’t wanna see their business fall to the likes of me, someone that can end someone’s career.” More

Dream Team gaffers should target these favourable festive fixtures for bountiful returns in coming weeks

THE true meaning of Christmas is live football almost every single day.Dream Team managers will have to keep their wits about them in the coming weeks if they’re to make the most of non-stop action.
Generally, players tend to produce more points from favourable fixtures so let’s take a look at which clubs have the best set of match-ups from Gameweek 15 until the end of the year.

    Manchester City

    Luton (a)
    Red Star Belgrade (a)
    Crystal Palace (h)
    Everton (a)
    Sheffield United (h)

Pep Guardiola’s side play one fewer fixture than most their main rivals this month because of their Club World Cup commitments – please note that City players won’t score Dream Team points in the Club World Cup.
That jaunt is offset by a very favourable run of eligible games with 13th-placed Palace being their toughest league opponent on paper.
It’s said that Belgrade is a difficult place to go but the reality is that Red Star have failed to win any of their five Champions League games this season, drawing one and losing four.
Every club bar City and Brentford will play twice in Gameweek 17 so gaffers will have to negotiate that hiccup but Erling Haaland (£8.1m) and friends should plunder plenty of points when active.
    Most read in Football
The treble winners have struggled to keep clean sheets this term so it will be interesting to see how many points the likes of Ederson (£3.4m) and Kyle Walker (£3.4m) produce this month given the friendly match-ups.

    Aston Villa

    Arsenal (h)
    Zrinjski Mostar (a)
    Brentford (a)
    Sheffield United (h)
    Manchester United (a)
    Burnley (h)

The Villains host Man City this week before welcoming the Gunners to their patch on Saturday – an undeniably massive double header.
Once that’s out of the way though, Unai Emery will feel confident of a prosperous run up until the end of the year.
The Bees are a decent outfit but they are ten points behind Villa at this stage having scored 11 fewer goals.
Villa then play the bottom two teams either side of a trip to the Red Devils, a club seemingly on the brink of an implosion if reports are to be believed.
Matty Cash’s (£3.2m) returns have fallen off a cliff but Ollie Watkins (£4.7m) continues to go from strength to strength.
Only Haaland and Mohamed Salah (£6.8m) have more points than the England striker among forwards right now.
Douglas Luiz (£3.5m) has also been productive of late having amassed 54 points across the last five and a half Gameweeks.

    Newcastle

    Tottenham (a)
    AC Milan (h)
    Fulham (h)
    Chelsea (a)
    Luton (a)
    Nottingham Forest (h)

Gameweek 15 is tricky prospect on paper but it should noted that Spurs have taken just one point from a possible 12 in their last four league games amid an injury crisis.
The Magpies have a plague of injuries themselves but impressive showings against Chelsea, PSG and Man United have proven they remain a formidable side.
Having dismantled the Blues 4-1 recently, Eddie Howe will surely be hopeful of a positive result in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge – though it’s hard to predict the strength of the starting line-ups.
Fulham, Luton and Forest to finish the calendar year’s league fixtures, with two of those games taking place at St James’ Park, looks ripe for plentiful points.
Kieran Trippier (£5.2m), Anthony Gordon (£3.8m) and Alexander Isak (£4.4m) could feast if they remain available.
Chelsea have been inconsistent but December looks favourableCredit: Dream Team
    Chelsea

    Everton (a)
    Sheffield United (h)
    Newcastle (h)
    Wolves (a)
    Crystal Palace (h)
    Luton (a)

Mauricio Pochettino won’t be keen on another meeting with Newcastle so soon after his side’s capitulation at St James’ Park but it appears to be relatively smooth sailing elsewhere.
Dream Team bosses may be hesitant to back Chelsea too heartily as they have been up and down in 2023/24 to say the least.
However, recent wins over Tottenham and Brighton plus a barnstorming 4-4 draw with City indicate there are points to be had if everything clicks.
Raheem Sterling (£3.9m) averages 6.1 points-per-game this season and it may be somebody like Levi Colwill (£2.5m) emerges as a shrewd bargain, at least in the short term.
Chelsea’s next five league opponents are all in the bottom half – by sheer definition that’s a favourable run that should yield healthy returns.

Usyk retirement date revealed ahead of Tyson Fury clash as promoter says Ukrainian won’t be at his best for much longer

OLEKSANDR USYK doesn’t plan on hanging around for much longer – despite being on the brink of making history. The undefeated Ukrainian is on the cusp of becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over 25 years and the first in the four-belt era.

All that stands behind the 36-year-old slick southpaw and undisputed glory is Brit man-mountain Tyson Fury – the owner of the prestigious and historic WBC title.
But fighting into his 40s like the greats of yesteryear isn’t something the former undisputed cruiserweight king fances.
Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassuyk told Betway: “He’s 36 now and still has three years to go at his best.
“The only issue or concern we have is the health issue so that could be a problem.”

Krassuyk, however, reckons his good friend could continue fighting if his body doesn’t betray him.
He said: “If his body is still ready to fight, then I don’t think he’s going to quit.
“Let me tell you, I have been dealing with Oleksandr Usyk since his first professional fight in 2013 and we have been very close with each other over the last 10 years.
“But he is a young kid in his soul and has never experienced retirement or really imagine how hard it is for a fighter to retire from boxing.”

Usyk’s long-overdue showdown with Fury – which was initially slated for April – takes place in Saudi Arabia on February 17.
Both men will have to train over the festive period and battle the urge not to enjoy extra servings of Turkey.
Fury, however, will also have to battle the urge to hit his local boozer for a good old-fashioned knees-up.
The Gypsy King said: “It wasn’t my ideal date.
“I wanted the 23rd because then I could have had a good Christmas and now I am going to have a s*** Christmas.
“I can’t go and get 4st heavier now, like I would like to.
“This date will keep me in shape and give me something to think about but it’s only a few weeks after so not too bad.
“I will still have a proper Christmas day with the family, it’s not that serious that I have to cancel Christmas is it?

“Me and Joe Parker usually go to the boozer next door, while the dinner is getting made, and have 15 pints.
“But this time he can do it and I can’t because he will be celebrating his win on the 23rd and I will still be in camp.” More

Arsenal in advanced talks with Ben White over new deal and Arteta has already identified next star he wants to tie down

ARSENAL are in advanced talks with Ben White and are hopeful of agreeing a new deal before Christmas. The Gunners have also opened negotiations with Takehiro Tomiyasu to extend his stay as part of manager Mikel Arteta’s long-term planning.
White, 26, has 2½ years still left to run on his contract while 25-year-old fellow defender Tomiyasu’s deal expires in 2025.

But Arteta and sporting director Edu aim to tie key stars down to fresh terms and keep the nucleus of the squad together until 2027 and beyond.
Martin Odegaard and WIlliam Saliba, along with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes and Aaron Ramsdale have all agreed new terms over the past year or so.
Recent signings Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko are also locked into long contracts.

White cost £50million when he was signed from Brighton, while Japanese star Tomiyasu was a bargain £19.5m buy from Bologna when they both arrived in the summer of 2021.
Midfielder Thomas Partey’s deal runs to 2025 but the club could sell him next month.
Arsenal have spent some £600m on signings since Arteta took over four years ago.
But the feeling within the club is they now have a strong squad for the next five years and will not need to keep splashing out at such a rapid rate in the future.
