Senegal international Mendy has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this month.
And now according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues moved a step closer to signing of the 28-year-old after improving their latest offer.
He tweeted: “The new bid from Chelsea for Edouard Mendy has been accepted by Rennes: here we go!
“Deal to be completed on next days, the goalkeeper is ready to fly to London and he’ll have medicals soon.

“Personal terms agreed days ago. Lampard will have his new GK.
“Personal terms already agreed. He’s pushing to leave and join #CFC… and he’s getting closer.”
Romano previously stated that once Chelsea secure Mendy’s services, they will turn their attention to West Ham’s Declan Rice.
Rennes president Nicolas Holveck revealed earlier this week that Mendy wants to join Chelsea.

    ED TURNER
He admitted: “We’ve started official negotiations with Chelsea to sell Edouard Mendy.
“We know the player wants to leave.
“But the agreement at the moment is not 100 per cent completed between the three parts.”

Chelsea ‘reject stunning N’Golo Kante for Christian Eriksen and Marcelo Brozovic swap transfer offer by Inter Milan’

CHELSEA have reportedly rejected a swap offer for Inter Milan involving Christian Eriksen and Marcelo Brozovic for N’Golo Kante.

And the Serie A side are willing to offload two of their own players in order to bring the ex-Leicester ace to Italy.
According to the Daily Mail, they have had their bid for Kante knocked back, with the Blues having no interest in either Eriksen or Brozovic.
It has been claimed that Frank Lampard would rather sell Jorginho ahead of the World Cup winner.
They add that Chelsea would consider cash bids for Kante, as they look to raise funds in order to prise Declan Rice away from West Ham.

Despite only joining from Tottenham in January, Inter are said to be already looking to cut their losses on Eriksen.
The Danish international scored just once and provided two assists in 17 Serie A games during the 2019-20 season.
He was limited to just eight league starts, and also started from the bench in the Europa League final defeat against Sevilla.

But the Blues do not want him or Brozovic in their squad as they feel they have too many midfielders in their ranks.
The futures of Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are already in question, while Danny Drinkwater still has two years left on his contract.
Chelsea are also looking to part ways with Tiemoue Bakayoko, with AC Milan looking to bring him back to the club.

Kai Havertz ‘waived £9m BONUS to seal £89m Chelsea transfer’ from Bayer Leverkusen and link up with hero Lampard

KAI HAVERTZ allowed Bayer Leverkusen to KEEP his £9million transfer bonus to ensure he got his move to Chelsea, according to reports.
The Blues splashed out an initial £72m on the midfielder, 21, last week and new information out of Germany outlines just how keen he was to seal the deal.

Sport Bild detail how Havertz’s interest in joining Chelsea was based around his love of manager Frank Lampard.
The German is said to have been in contact with the former England star for a number of months.
And the transfer came to a head in late August when Chelsea transfer fixer Marina Granovskaia sat down with Bayer Leverkusen bosses in the south of France.
With the Premier League side happy to pay an initial £72m up front, negotiations became focused on what would trigger the additional bonus payments.

Factors such as title wins and qualifying for the Champions League were divvied up to complete the £89m fee, ten per cent of which was due to go to Havertz.
It is claimed that the player waived this contract clause in order to help Bayer along with the sale.
However, Havertz is reportedly due to cash in later on in his Chelsea career, as he will instead be due a considerable chunk of the bonus add-ons if the Blues are successful.
The Aachen-born ace is certainly getting a fair deal with his weekly wage purported to be £310,000-a-week, on a five-year contract.

Lampard was excited to get to work with his new star when addressing the media on Thursday.
He told the club website: “He is a player I have been aware of for a long time and as a fellow attacking midfield player, I have paid particular attention to those type of players for some time.
“I was aware of his talent and in conjunction with the club, we know how we want to go forward and look to improve in the right areas.

“And for players who are going to be here hopefully to improve and mature, but are already at a very high level, he absolutely fitted the bill for us, so I am delighted to have him.”
Indeed, it was Lampard’s display in Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League win that first inspired Havertz.
The Bild report describes how the youngster was “captivated” by the Blues legend’s calmness on the ball and offensive capacity, as well as the club’s rise as a new footballing power.

Chelsea reject N’Golo Kante bid from Inter Milan with Antonio Conte set to launch another transfer raid

CHELSEA have reportedly rejected a player-plus-cash offer from Inter Milan for N’Golo Kante.
The Serie A club’s boss Antonio Conte wants to reunite with the midfielder he had at Stamford Bridge this season in Italy.

    1

His team allegedly tabled an offer that included Marcelo Brozovic as part of the package, but it was knocked back by the Blues.
And The Telegraph claims Chelsea also told Inter they have no interest in ex-Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen being part of the package either.
Conte has not been put off in his pursuit of Kante as he attempts to offload some of his squad to raise further transfer funds to make another offer.
With his club struggling for money, he hoped the inclusion of Croatian midfielder Brozovic may have enticed Chelsea into doing business.

Frank Lampard was then made aware that Eriksen could also be available, but unfortunately for Inter the Premier League outfit had no interest in the Dane.
Kante starred for Conte as the Blues romped to the title in 2017.

However, reports in the 29-year-old’s homeland state he wants to stay in West London.
Lampard has already indicated he wants to keep hold of the 2018 World Cup winner.

But he continues to be linked with West Ham’s Declan Rice, who would add further competition for Kante. More

Man Utd plotting shock N’Golo Kante transfer with Chelsea demanding £55m for Frenchman as Lampard looks to raise funds

MANCHESTER UNITED are plotting a shock transfer swoop for N’Golo Kante, according to sensational reports.
The French midfielder’s future is still unclear with the Blues thought to be open to the idea of moving him on to raise funds.

Roman Abramovich has splashed out £230million this summer to bring in Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell.
And the sale of Kante would help reduce the deficit.
Now according to Tuttosport in Italy, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to make an ambitious bid to land the star.
United already have Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Fred at their disposal in midfield – plus summer-signing Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

Kante is under contract for another three years at Stamford Bridge after penning a new deal in November 2018.
The report alleges Chelsea would be willing to accept an offer of just £55m for the 29-year-old.
There was talk earlier in the summer that a move to Inter Milan could be on the cards.
Antonio Conte signed ‘the nicest man in football’ from Leicester in 2016 and would unsurprisingly be keen to reunite with the World Cup.

The problem for Inter – who are set to sign Arturo Vidal from Barcelona – is cash.
Tuttosport add the San Siro club would need to sell Milan Skriniar or Marcelo Brozovic to finance a deal.
Both players would cost between £36m and £46m, with Inter hoping to then convince Chelsea to lower their asking price.
Kante, though, is thought to be happy in West London and wants to fight for his place.
However, should Frank Lampard manage to secure former Blues youngster Declan Rice from West Ham, he may deem Kante surplus to requirements.

Christian Pulisic to get Chelsea No10 shirt after Willian’s Arsenal transfer while Havertz asks for Tomori’s No29

CHRISTIAN PULISIC is in line to get Chelsea’s No10 jersey while new signing Kai Havertz has asked for his old number.
After Eden Hazard left to join Real Madrid last summer, Brazilian Willian took the coveted No10.

But following his free transfer to Arsenal, The Athletic say Pulisic will now take over the jersey.
The 21-year-old wears the No10 while captaining America, but had 22 in his first season at Chelsea.
Hakim Ziyech, 27, who the Blues signed from Ajax in February, wore No22 during a pre-season friendly against Brighton.
The winger had the same number playing for Ajax, and will likely inherit it from Pulisic at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard’s newest signing, 21-year-old Kai Havertz, is believed to have asked for the No29 when he signed from Bayer Leverkusen.
He wore that number in Germany, and Chelsea’s current No29 Fikayo Tomori is said to have had no worries giving it up.
It comes as the 22-year-old centre-back nears a loan move to Everton.

After Spanish winger Pedro left to join Roma on a free, he vacated the No11, which was made famous at Chelsea by club legend Didier Drogba.

And Timo Werner – signed from RB Leipzig in June – appears set to honour Drogba by inheriting the number.
The German forward wore No11 against Brighton, where he scored his first goal in Chelsea blue.

Chelsea target Edouard Mendy was unemployed at 22 and almost quit football after snub by a League One club

CHELSEA are looking to continue their remarkable spending spree this summer by adding Edouard Mendy to their squad.
The giant Senegal goalie, who stands at 6ft 6in tall, is on the verge of joining the West London giants for £25million, according to reports.

    8

Should the deal go through, it would complete a remarkable turn-around in the life of the 28-year-old stopper.
It was only six years ago that Mendy, the cousin of Real Madrid star Ferland Mendy, was unemployed after his contract expired with French fourth tier side Cherbourg.
And after a deal with a League One club collapsed, it appeared his days as a professional footballer were over.
    ON THE SCRAP HEAP
Mendy was just 22 when his deal with Cherbourg expired.

Wanting to take on a new challenge, he was offered contracts by other clubs.
But it was the temptation of moving across the channel to an unknown League One side that seemed the most attractive.
The player’s former agent gave him assurances a deal was done, however Mendy soon discovered the job offer didn’t work out.
It left the promising talent club-less, unemployed and queuing at the job centre.

Away from the game for the year, Mendy was forced to consider quitting football to do something else.

    8

With his future up in the air, Mendy contemplated quitting the game
“For a football player or anybody else, being unemployed is like getting slapped across the face,” Mendy told So Foot magazine.
“Repeated failures leave marks on you, and you start thinking that maybe you are not made for it.”
    REDEMPTION
With his confidence severely dented, Mendy returned to the club where it all began for him as a youth player, Le Havre.
He trained religiously for a year, unpaid, until a former team-mate told him that Marseille were looking for a goalkeeper to replace reserves Julien Fabri and Brice Samba, who were sent out on loan.
Mendy scored a trial with the 1993 European Cup winners and was signed as a fourth choice keeper.
There, he worked with French international Steve Mandanda and played in the B side.
“I reached a new level in Marseille,” he revealed.
“I trained with the pros throughout the year, which you normally would not expect as a No. 4 ‘keeper.

    8

Mendy has blossomed into a Senegal international

“It was proof that I performed well and made all the efforts required. It was a rewarding year.
“Training alongside players like Lassana Diarra, Abou Diaby… and winning duels against Steven Fletcher or Michy Batshuayi brought a lot to me.”
    MAKING OF THE MAN
In search of regular playing time, Mendy moved to Ligue 2 outfit Reims in 2016.
It was time for him to finally make his breakthrough in the game.
When first-choice keeper Johann Carrasso was sent off, Mendy got his opportunity.
Seven games and three clean sheets later, a star was born.
Mendy became first-choice in 2017-18, and helped the club gain promotion to Ligue 1.
    RENNES TO CHELSEA?
It was only last summer that Mendy signed for Rennes for a fee of £3.5million.

And his rise has been rapid.
He helped his new club finish in the top three in France’s top division last season.
More importantly, Rennes qualified for the Champions League thanks to his exploits.

Commanding between the sticks, late-developer Mendy kept nine clean sheets in their incredible season.
In fact, he was so good Chelsea club legend Petr Cech is said to have told the Blues to pull out all the stops to sign him.
Could he be the final piece in the jigsaw to make Frank Lampard’s men genuine title contenders?
