How Chelsea could line up with Jadon Sancho after scuppering Man Utd transfer plans as he reveals he’s a boyhood fan

JADON SANCHO could play under Frank Lampard at Chelsea next season after revealing he was a boyhood Blues fan.
The Borussia Dortmund star, 20, was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the last transfer window but the Red Devils never coughed up the £108million asking price.

Manchester City academy product Sancho was born in South London before being snapped up by the Citizens aged just seven.
And the England international has confirmed he was a Chelsea fan as a youngster.
In an interview with the Telegraph in 2019, when asked if he supported Chelsea, he responded: “Yeah, it’s correct. I’m not going to lie.”
Blues boss Lampard already has an embarrassment of attacking riches to pick from in West London after splashing over £230m during the summer on the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz.

A big-money transfer for Sancho could see him occupy the wide right berth in a 4-3-3 system.
That would mean a move for Ziyech over to the left, with Werner potentially deployed through the middle.
In order to fit Havertz – the club’s most expensive outfield player ever – into the XI, Lampard may have to utilise the German youngster in a deeper midfield role.
Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante could make up a versatile midfield three.

Chelsea’s new defensive steel means the back four and keeper Edouard Mendy will likely remain the same at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have conceded just 11 goals in as many league games this term – fixing last season’s leaky backline showings which left them with the most goals conceded in the Premier League’s top half – and Sancho could be the man to take their game to the next level up front.
But there will be no shortage of competition for places with Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud and Callum Hudson-Odoi all vying for forward spots.

Chelsea duo Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori set to be shipped off on loan transfer after struggling for game-time

CHELSEA will allow Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori to leave the club on loan in January, according to reports.
The pair have struggled for game time this season, with Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma preferred at the heart of Frank Lampard’s defence.

Chelsea will listen to loan offers for Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori

ESPN claims Chelsea will listen to loan offers for the pair as Lampard seeks to reduce the size of his squad.
Both players were linked with moves elsewhere over the summer following the arrival of Silva from Paris Saint-Germain.
Germany international Rudiger was hoping to secure guaranteed first-team football ahead of next summer’s Euros and was the subject of enquiries from Tottenham and West Ham.

Neither move materialised and Rudiger ended up staying despite a late offer from his former club Roma.
Everton were in advanced talks for Tomori only for a deal to fall through and the 22-year-old chose to stay and fight for his place amid a deadline day loan bid from West Ham.
However, the form of Silva and Zouma has meant chances for the Blues’ other centre-halves have been few and far between.
Silva and Zouma have started together in five of Chelsea’s last six Premier League matches, conceding just two goals.

Rudiger played all 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 4-0 win against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday, but that was just his third start of the season and Barcelona are reportedly monitoring his situation.

Tomori meanwhile, has not featured for the Blues since September despite being one of the breakthrough stars of the 2019-20 campaign.
Last December, the England international signed a new contract to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2024, but Lampard recognises he needs game time to aid his development.

It is unclear whether Chelsea will allow both players to leave and an injury at the back in the next few weeks could prompt a rethink.
Newcastle have been linked with a loan bid for Tomori in recent weeks, with Everton unlikely to renew their interest after signing Ben Godfrey from Norwich. More

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard targeting wantaway Bayern Munich star David Alaba in 2021 transfer to bolster defence

FRANK LAMPARD is targeting wantaway Bayern Munich star David Alaba for a New Year transfer, according to reports.
The Austrian defender, 28, has six months remaining on his current contract at the Allianz Arena.

And it does not look as though he will sign an extension.
Now, according to Bild in Germany, Chelsea want to pounce.
Alaba will no doubt be at the centre of a transfer tug of war between some of Europe’s top clubs.
But the Blues may jump the queue into pole position by making a January swoop, rather than waiting until the end of the season.

That would mean having to pay a transfer fee but Bayern would surely rather get some cash for their long-serving ace.
Chelsea brought in Ben Chilwell at left-back and Thiago Silva who plays at left centre-back with both players settling quickly at Stamford Bridge.
There is already a surplus of central defenders with Kurt Zouma getting the nod ahead of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori at the moment.
Alaba joined Bayern’s youth set-up from Austria Vienna in 2008 and has made more than 400 first-team appearances for the Bavarians.

In that time he has converted from a left-back to a central midfielder to a centre-back, winning nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions Leagues along the way.
But his time looks on course to come to a bitter end with a spat between the player and the club.
In November, Alaba slammed Bayern for going public about the contract negotiations as club chiefs exposed details of the offers made – and rejected – by the Austrian to extend his stay.
Bayern’s loss, though, is set to be another major club’s gain.
As well as favourites Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been linked with Alaba.
He worked with Pep Guardiola at Bayern while Liverpool desperately need another centre-back with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez expected to miss the rest of the season.

Kai Havertz reveals Timo Werner’s amazing campaign to get him to join him at Chelsea ahead of summer transfer to Blues

TIMO WERNER tried to convince Kai Havertz to sign for Chelsea with messages ‘every day’, the midfielder has revealed.
The Blues agreed a £47.5million deal to land Werner in June and he was determined to see German pal Havertz follow suit.

The presence of Werner and fellow countryman Antonio Rudiger was important for the youngster in deciding to sign for Chelsea.
The 21-year-old told the club YouTube channel: “[It helped] a lot, I knew him from before and in the national team we are very good friends.
“When I got the news that he was changing clubs, we messaged every day.
“And he always said to me I could come [too]. It was every day.

“Of course, it’s easier for me. I have some German-speaking players here like Timo, Toni Rudiger, [Christian] Pulisic and [Matteo] Kovacic also speak German.”
Indeed, Rudiger was previously said to have played a major role in persuading Werner to trade RB Leipzig for West London.

The defender, along with Petr Cech, talked up life at Chelsea before he committed to the switch.
Werner has hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge but the same cannot be said of £62m man Havertz.

A hat-trick against Barnsley and Premier League strike past Southampton count as his only goals so far.
But, speaking back in November, his national team pal assured fans that he will become a star.

Werner said: “A bit like me, we have talked a lot about settling in and he feels he is very happy to be here.
“In a lot of games he has shown what he can do, what he can bring to the team.
“For Kai it is very important to score, but I think what you can see in his game, he is about a lot more than scoring goals as a midfield player. He plays a lot of key passes, makes a lot of movement for other players.
“He is very talented and feels good. He will get better and better, like me he has come to a new country, language and style of football and has to learn.”

Chelsea set to offload Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori in January with Barcelona and Newcastle keen on transfers

CHELSEA are reportedly willing to listen to offers for both Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori in January.
The defenders have each featured in the Premier League just once this season with Frank Lampard preferring a centre-back pairing of Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma.

Former Roma star Rudiger has been linked with a shock move to Barcelona as an alternative to Manchester City’s Eric Garcia.
Meanwhile ex-Derby loanee Tomori is claimed to be an option for Newcastle as Steve Bruce weighs up bringing him to St James’ Park on loan.
And ESPN have stated that the pair will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge as Lampard looks to trim the centre-backs in his squad.
It remains to be seen whether the West London outfit would allow both players to depart the club in the New Year.

Should they both leave, Chelsea would have just Andreas Christensen to rely on as back-up.
Rudiger is aware that he must be playing regular football if he wants to be named in Joachim Low’s Germany Euro 2020 squad.
Low revealed in October how Rudiger was desperate to leave Chelsea in the summer, before stating he will look to force through a move in January.
He said: “I was in constant contact with Rudiger, he was keeping me in the loop.

“He had three or four options over the weekend but unfortunately nothing materialised – he can try again in the winter.
“He tried everything to leave Chelsea because the European Championship is very important to him.
“I think he’ll try to leave again in the winter. He’s doing everything he can to stay in his best form.”

Barcelona include Arsenal ace Mustafi and Chelsea’s Rudiger on January transfer shortlist but Eric Garcia is No1 target

RONALD KOEMAN is formulating his January wishlist with Shkodran Mustafi one name being eyed by the Barcelona boss.
Injuries to two stars will dominate the Catalans’ transfer business with centre-back Gerard Pique and striker Ansu Fati out until the spring.

Memphis Depay is reportedly still Koeman’s preference for a new attacker.
But the club’s desperate financial situation, plus the wealth of other options available to the coach, may make the Dutchman’s switch unlikely.
Pique’s injury, Ronald Araujo’s absence, Samuel Umtiti’s long-term knee problem and a recent knock to Clement Lenglet may see a centre-back favoured.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Koeman has told the club that former Barcelona academy star Eric Garcia is his preferred target.

Manchester City put up a considerable fight to keep the Spaniard in the summer and may continue to do so, even if he can leave for free when his contract expires in June.
Should Garcia remain out of reach, a defender with top-level European experience is thought to be the objective.

Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi and Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger are named as two alternatives.
Neither player is prominent in their manager’s thoughts with Mustafi limited to Europa League outings following his disastrous Premier League return against Leicester.

Likewise, Rudiger has been regularly benched by Frank Lampard with just one league outing to his name.
Vital in any Barcelona bid is the upcoming presidential election, taking place on January 24.

Tuesday’s Mundo Deportivo highlights Barcelona’s continued desire for the youngster

The new chief could decide to forego the club’s ailing economics to oversee a spending spree in the final days of the window.
However, Koeman has been getting on relatively well without Pique and Fati.
Academy prospect Oscar Mingueza, 21, stepped into the defence for the 4-0 wins over Dynamo Kyiv and Osasuna.
And unwanted forward Martin Braithwaite has also made his mark, netting three goals in the past week.

Chelsea and West Ham in transfer fight for RB Leipzig kid Matthew Bondswell, 18, after impressing on loan in Holland

CHELSEA and West Ham are reportedly keen on RB Leipzig’s Matthew Bondswell.
The England Under-18 international left-back is a man in-demand after a series of impressive displays in Holland.

Former Nottingham Forest starlet Bondswell, 18, joined FC Dordrecht on a season-long loan to further his development.
His form for the Dutch second division outfit has caught the eye of the Premier League duo, according to The Telegraph.
And with Chelsea and the Hammers both keen, that could lead to a possible return to these shores in the January transfer window.
But both the Blues and their London rivals face strong competition for Bondswell.

Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, who helped bring England international and Tottenham ace Eric Dier through the ranks, also want the teen.
Bondswell shot to prominence with his displays for Forest’s youth team.
But he snubbed their offer of a pro deal two years ago in order to sign for German side Leipzig.
Both Ademola Lookman and Emile Smith-Rowe have also headed to Leipzig in the past as part of the Bundesliga side’s English imports.

The full-back could have opted for a career in athletics instead of football.
He won a silver medal in the triple jump at the English Schools Track and Field Championships in the summer of 2017.
And he also took gold in the same discipline at school level as well as competing in the 200m.

Man Utd and Chelsea joined by City in Denis Zakaria transfer race with Monchengladbach star eyed to bolster midfield

MANCHESTER CITY are ready to battle it out with neighbours United and Chelsea in the race for Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria.
The 24-year-old midfielder, whose contract runs until 2022, has just returned to action after fighting back from a long-term knee injury.

Man City have contacted Monchengladbach’s Deniz Zakaria’s agent over a potential transfer moveCredit: Getty

Swiss international Zakaria came off the bench against Augsburg on November 21 for his first game since March and has since featured twice more.
It was his performances last term that caught the eye before he was sidelined, helping Gladbach to seal Champions League football.
His return to fitness has re-ignited the interest from potential suitors, and Pep Guardiola’s City are reportedly one of those keen.
And Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano told his Here We Go podcast that City have already been in contact with Zakaria’s agent.

He said: “Manchester City are focusing on Zakaria, he is so appreciated by the board, they are following him, they are in contact with his agent.
“So he’s for sure on the list of Manchester City, there is nothing advanced yet because they are not negotiating yet with Borussia Monchengladbach, they need time.”
Further reports claimed last month that both Manchester United and Chelsea were looking at making a move for the attacker.
United are in need for a defensive midfielder to replace the ageing Nemanja Matic, who turned 32 in August.

The best available free agents still on the market

Meanwhile Frank Lampard is looking for alternatives to West Ham’s Declan Rice having failed to prise him away from the London Stadium.
But the two teams could still miss out on Zakaria, with it claimed that Bayern Munich are also keen to snap him up.
Zakaria spoke earlier in the year about how flattering it was to be linked with moves to Europe’s biggest clubs.
Speaking in March, he said: “[The interest] spurs me on and gives me strength to improve further.
“The fact that other clubs are dealing with me shows that I perform well. But I only concentrate on Borussia.”
