Chelsea fans fears N’Golo Kante will QUIT after being left on bench AGAIN as he struggles to get into starting XI

CHELSEA fans fear N’golo Kante could be on his way after being left on the sidelines by Thomas Tuchel.
The midfielder is yet to start in the league under his new boss, having missed the whole of January through injury.

After footage emerged of Tuchel congratulating Kante after he was subbed on against Newcastle, some supporters online suggested the 29-year-old appeared unhappy.
One said: “Can Tuchel start using Kante again as a starter. Kante doesn’t seem too happy after the full time against Newcastle.
“If Kante doesn’t start and keep getting bench he will push to leave during the summer.”
Another said: “Kante is quiet but don’t take him for granted, benched him and he would push for the exit door from Chelsea.

“He knows how to exit, he did it easily at Leicester. So I advice tuchel to start using him we lose him.”
One added: “Na this is sad. He’s sad. Kante wants to play more than 15 mins here and there.”

Kante has made three straight appearances off the bench since returning to the squad.

Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic have been the preferred pivot pair in Tuchel’s midfield.
But the ex-PSG manager – who tried to sign Kante while in France – has reassured fans the World Cup winner fits into his system at Chelsea.

He said: “I think N’Golo fits into any manager’s plans on the planet.
I was desperate to have him in my teams in the past. He is a big Chelsea player and one of the best midfielders in the world.
“So I am so lucky to have him in my squad and that he is back fit again.
“If you look at his performances coming back from injury, we put him on the pitch against Tottenham with no minutes.
“That was really difficult but he helped everybody on the pitch with his support, mentality, and quality, which is what he does.

“If you see the step he took in training between the Tottenham match and Sheffield United, the 30 minutes he played was a huge performance.
“We switched to a three in the midfield and this helped us escape the pressure and be in control of the game again.
“I am very, very impressed. We’ve known him for many years very well because we’ve come from a French club.
“We were very impressed from the television but to see him live, to see how he works, how humble he is, the quality he gives to the team, it’s a gift to be his coach. I am so happy.”

Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech targeted by AC Milan and Juventus in transfer as Tuchel warns he must adapt to Premier League

CHELSEA’S Hakim Ziyech is reportedly being targeted by Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus after a rough start to life under Thomas Tuchel.
The 27-year-old wideman has struggled for game time under the club’s new boss and CalcioMercato claims Milan and Juventus are monitoring his situation closely.

Ziyech only arrived at Chelsea in the summer from Ajax in a £37million deal that was agreed in February 2020.
The Morocco international has scored two goals and provided four assists in 19 appearances in all competitions for the Blues so far this term.
But since starting Tuchel’s first game in charge against Wolves, Ziyech has yet to taste any further Prem action, although he was named in the starting XI for Thursday night’s 1-0 FA Cup win over Barnsley.
Before Chelsea secured their spot in the quarter-finals, Tuchel admitted Ziyech needs to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League.

On Wednesday, the German boss said: “For me it’s clear that he needs to adapt to this kind of football, this kind of league.
“He comes from the Dutch league, from a strong Ajax squad but they were the benchmark in the league and it’s not the same intensity and competition as it is here.
“But he’s adapting and he has the certain quality to decide matches and the certain quality to do the unexpected which can give you an extra twist in any game and on level which he proved with Ajax.
“Of course we want to push him to the same level of performance that he showed there and this is our job.”

BET OF THE DAY: GET THE BEST FOOTBALL PRICES ON THE MARKET WITH OUR EXPERT ADVICE

The report states Serie A leaders Milan and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus could make a move for Ziyech when the summer window opens if his standing at Chelsea becomes more precarious.
Ziyech didn’t help his cause with an underwhelming display against Barnsley, losing possession a staggering TWENTY FIVE times.
The Holland-born star had no shots and contributed just two key passes before being hauled off and replaced by youngster Tino Anjorin after 69 minutes.
Despite Tammy Abraham’s tap-in earning the West Londoners a home quarter-final against Sheffield United, Tuchel demanded more from his side.

We clearly can play better, so yes I expected more but not in terms that I am frustrated.”
    Thomas Tuchel

After the win in Yorkshire, the ex-PSG coach said: “We scored the goal and I had the feeling that they increased the risk but we stepped down in the little decisions.
“Not enough courage and it was too deep for a long, long time.
‘We clearly can play better, so yes I expected more but not in terms that I am frustrated.
“If you lack a rhythm and a bit of self-confidence and you have to show on this pitch, against an opponent that takes all the risk and plays the game of his life, that is not easy.
“We can do better but I don’t want to be too hard on the players.”

Thomas Tuchel ‘considering Chelsea transfer U-turn over buying centre-back in summer after Andreas Christensen form’

CHELSEA boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly ready to abandon plans to sign a centre-back this summer given the form of Andreas Christensen.
The German manager, 47, was expected to strengthen his backline at the end of this season but may no longer push for a new star, according to Football London.

Andreas Christensen has impressed Thomas Tuchel in place of the injured Thiago SilvaCredit: Reuters

Christensen has excelled since he was called upon to replace an injured Thiago Silva against Tottenham.
And the Dane took his chance in the heart of Tuchel’s back three with an impressive showing from the start in the 2-1 win over Sheffield United.
He made 12 clearances and won six aerial duels – more than any other Blues star.
Chelsea have the option to trigger a one-year extension on 36-year-old Silva’s deal.

Previously fourth choice Christensen is contracted until 2022 and the report states he is unlikely to sign a new deal if Silva – who wants to play until he’s 40 – stays on as he is blocking the way to his desired role in the starting XI.
The Blues would look to cash in this summer rather than lose the 24-year-old for free the following year.
Tuchel would then reinvest in the market for a new option at the back but he now could be persuaded to stick with the man John Terry once anointed as his successor at Stamford Bridge, as well as Silva.
Christensen is set to continue in the side for Thursday’s FA Cup tie against Barnsley.

BET OF THE DAY: GET THE BEST FOOTBALL PRICES ON THE MARKET WITH OUR EXPERT ADVICE

He could also keep his place for Monday’s Prem game at home to Newcastle with Silva still not 100 per cent.
The former PSG defender reassured Blues fans his thigh problem wasn’t too serious – but manager Tuchel expects him to miss the next couple of games.
The boss said: “With Thiago, we are fighting for him [to be fit] every day but he will for sure be out for the FA Cup game. So it will take time.
“It will be several days but we have set the goal: I would like him back for maybe Southampton. That’s realistic but also ambitious.
“I know Thiago, he will do everything to be ready as soon as possible but it is a muscle injury so you can’t take any risk.”

Chelsea enter transfer race for Jadon Sancho with Dortmund resigned to losing him to Prem giant as Man Utd circle

CHELSEA are set to rival Manchester United in the transfer racefor Jadon Sancho, reports say.
The forward was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer but United refused to meet Dortmund’s £108million price-tag.

Sancho remained in Germany where he has managed eight goals in 25 appearances.
It has kept demand for the 20-year-old high, with Chelsea now interested in a move for the winger, according to Sport1.
They report Dortmund have accepted they will finally lose Sancho in the next window, likely to a Premier League side.
German outfit Bild recently revealed the Bundesliga club will let him leave if they receive an offer in the region of £88m.

The coronavirus pandemic is having a brutal financial impact on football and clubs are being forced to lower their prices for their main assets.
Dortmund are believed to be facing losses of £66m and the sale of Sancho would help cover the debts.
The England international will also be another year closer to the end of his contract in Germany which expires in the summer of 2023.
Sancho scored 17 goals in 32 league matches on the way to becoming one of the hottest properties in Europe last season.

But he has suffered a dip in form this Bundesliga campaign, scoring just three times.
As a result, it is believed to have contributed in his price tag being sliced to £88m.
United remain interested in Sancho despite signing Amad Diallo in a deal set to total £37m.

Chelsea want to ‘hijack Real Madrid’s move for David Alaba’ as Tuchel seeks to bolster Blues defence with contract rebel

THOMAS TUCHEL is reportedly ready to make a counter-offer to hijack Real Madrid’s bid for David Alaba.
Bayern Munich are set to wave goodbye to the long-serving Austrian defender when his contract expires in the summer.

Chelsea are one of several teams said to be interested in the 28-year-old, along with Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
According to The Guardian, the Blues want to make a last-ditch attempt to gazump the LaLiga giants.
New boss Tuchel is reportedly looking to improve his defence despite keeping clean sheets in each of his first three games in charge.
The German has opted for experience so far with Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta returned to the team alongside Thiago Silva.

A versatile defender who started out as a midfielder, Alaba would fit into a number of positions in Tuchel’s 3-4-1-2.
But Spanish media believe a free transfer to Real Madrid is done and dusted.
A four-year deal worth £185,000-a-week has already been agreed, according to Marca.
Inter Milan full-back Achraf Hakimi has been linked to Chelsea amid the Italian club’s financial crisis.

Dayot Upamecano is another reported target with the RB Leipzig star’s £38million release clause activating in the summer.
The Blues downed London rivals Spurs 1-0 at Tottenham Stadium on Thursday night.
Tuchel said afterwards: “In general I am very pleased with the result, it is a deserved win.
“We were very good in the first half, very dominant and strong with the ball, good counter-pressing and we did not allow counter-attacks against one of the most dangerous sides.
“We lacked a little bit of precision in the box and composure to make it 2-0 and to score more goals and decide the match, so the second half was a bit hard.
“We had some easy ball loses, and we lost a little bit of ball possession and confidence, but we never lost the structure to defend, we never lost the intensity to push up high, and the courage to defend up high and up front, so I am very pleased.
“It is normal if you play a dominant game like this and you don’t score the second goal, it can happen that some minutes arrive when you have to suffer.
“But we were absolutely ready for that both mentally and physical, and I am super happy with the effort. We defended excellently.”

Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City in three-way Achraf Hakimi transfer fight with full-back up for £35m from Inter Milan

CHELSEA, Arsenal and Manchester City are set for a transfer tussle for Inter Milan’s £35million full-back Achraf Hakimi.
The Moroccan star only arrived from Real Madrid last summer but a growing financial crisis at Inter may force the Italian giants to cash in.

⚽ Read our Chelsea live blog for the very latest news from the Bridge

Achraf Hakimi is wanted by Premier League trio Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City
Hakimi has reportedly been tipped by Arsenal scouts as a potential replacement for Hector Bellerin, while Chelsea are long-term admirers of the former Borussia Dortmund loanee.
Now Manchester City are hoping to trump their Premier League rivals in the summer, according to Calciomercato.
The 22-year-old has been one of the stars for Antonio Conte’s men this season as they sit just two points behind bitter rivals AC Milan at the top of Serie A.

The struggle for funds at Inter has seen them miss a payment instalment on the deal which took Hakimi from the Bernabeu and the Italians have been forced to agree a new deadline in March.
Now they could lose him altogether with the Premier League trio sensing an opportunity to secure one of the most highly rated young full-backs in world football.
Hakimi plays as a right wing-back for Inter in Conte’s 3-5-2 system, but can also play as a right back or on the left.

Chelsea outcast Marcos Alonso left in transfer limbo as Real Madrid and Barcelona reject chance to sign defender

MARCOS ALONSO faces spending the rest of the season on the Chelsea bench while a move fails to materialise.
According to reports in Spain, neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid are ready to sign the left-back.

Marcos Alonso will reportedly not be moving to Spain this monthCredit: Getty Images – Getty

Alonso has affinity with both clubs, having come through the Madrid academy to play for the team and follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, Marcos Alonso Imaz.
And his father, Marcos Alonso Pena, starred for Barcelona during his illustrious career.
But, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, neither club is prepared to rescue the Spaniard from his Chelsea nightmare.
Real Madrid are not currently in the market for a left-back with Ferland Mendy and Marcelo well embedded, at least until the end of the season.

Barcelona would be interested in Alonso but it is said they would first need to loan out left-back Junior Firpo.
Although Serie A clubs and West Ham are reportedly monitoring Firpo, there is a lack of movement in completing a deal.
Therefore Alonso, 30, will have to try and impress new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel in a bid to save his season.
The German opted for £50million summer signing Ben Chilwell at left-back for his first game in charge, versus Wolves in midweek.

Both Alonso and Emerson Palmieri were left on the bench and neither man was called up to replace Chilwell, when he was subbed off on 76 minutes.
But it was the former Bolton defender’s first appearance on the bench since a disastrous performance in the 3-3 draw at West Brom in September.
Frank Lampard had exiled Alonso but Tuchel may be more open minded, particularly if the player cannot find a new club.

Frank Lampard sacked LIVE: Tuchel ‘in charge vs Wolves’, Abramovich statement in FULL – Chelsea news latest updates

THOMAS TUCHEL is being lined up to replace Frank Lampard as Chelsea manager after the Stamford Bridge legend was SACKED.
The club’s record scorer Lampard had been under pressure in recent weeks, and boss Roman Abramovich CONFIRMED the decision on Monday morning.

    Follow all the latest below…

    YOU’RE TOAST
Exclusive by Martin Lipton: Frank Lampard was summoned to a breakfast time sacking – after Roman Abramovich decided the former Blues midfielder’s reign could not be rescued.
Abramovich made the final call to sack Lampard – who will be replaced by German Thomas Tuchel – after seeing no real signs of improvement in the FA Cup win over Luton.
While the Chelsea owner was desperate to give Lampard time to turn his listing Blues ship away from the rocks, Abramovich reluctantly agreed that a change had to be made to prevent the entire season capsizing and took what was described as a very difficult decision.
SunSport can reveal that the final act of Lampard’s 18-month tenure came when he was summoned to Stamford Bridge for a 9am meeting with chairman Bruce Buck and director Marina Granovskaia and told he was being relieved of his command.
Lampard, who had been preparing to set off for the Cobham training ground when he received the call, knew what was coming when he arrived.

    LONDON CALLING
Thomas Tuchel is reportedly set to be unveiled to Chelsea’s players today after their training session.
German outlet SportBild claim the former Paris Saint-Germain chief will then be on the bench for Wedesday’s game against Wolves.

Thomas Tuchel is already in London and will be officially presented today after the #fcchelsea training session. On Wednesday he will sit on the bench for the first time as head coach. @SPORTBILD @cfbayern

    NICK OF TIME
Ralf Rangnick was offered the Chelsea job on an interim basis until the end of the season following last week’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City, according to reports.
According to The Athletic, major concerns were raised over Lampard’s future within the Chelsea hierarchy, following the 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Boxing Day.
And the defeat to Leicester last week proved to be the final straw, with a ‘furious’ Roman Abramovich deciding to begin the process of recruiting Lampard’s successor.
Determined to find a German speaker in order to get the best out of expensive summer recruits Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, Abramovich’s first port of call was the highly-rated Rangnick.
Despite being free, having left his position as head of sport at Red Bull last July, Rangnick turned the Blues down, however.
It’s claimed that he wasn’t happy with Chelsea’s proposal of a contract only running until the end of the season, despite the Blues’ plans to elevate him into a different role come the summer.

    GET IN TUCH
Thomas Tuchel has agreed to take over from Frank Lampard as Chelsea boss – and will be in charge for Wednesday night’s game against Wolves, according to reports.
Sky Sports claim the German is on the brink of taking over from Frank Lampard, who was sacked earlier on Monday.
Sky’s Max Bielefeld has claimed the deal has been ‘agreed’ with the paperwork currently being drawn up.
The report states there were no other candidates for the job, despite Massimiliano Allegri and Julian Nagelsmann being linked.

    FOX HUNT
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has expressed his sympathy for Frank Lampard after he was sacked by Chelsea.
He said: “I’m really sad for Frank, I know how much the club means for him.
“Looking at the squad, and how young they are, it’s a team and squad that needs time, and unfortunately he hasn’t been given that time.
“I really really feel for him, he had the courage to step out of an amazing career as a player, he could have had an easier route, done a great job at Derby and he couldn’t really turn it down.
“He did a good job last season. results might not have been what he wanted as he is a winner. He needed time and sadly for him he hasn’t got that time.”

    DOUBLE TROUBLE
SunSport’s Mark Fleming writes: “Frank Lampard did such a great job in his first year at Chelsea that his sudden sacking today has come as a shock.
“A shock, yes, but perhaps not a surprise.
“And nothing has been more symbolic of Lampard’s failure than his handling of his two star signings – Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.
“The two Germans arrived in the summer, Werner for £53m and Havertz for £70m, with so much promise.
“But both are now shadows of the men who took the Bundesliga by storm.”

    MAGIC TUCH
The Athletic claim Chelsea’s manager-in-waiting Thomas Tuchel is expected to be announced tomorrow.

    CAN’T TUCH THIS
Thomas Tuchel is the favourite to take over at Chelsea after Frank Lampard was given the boot this morning.
Here’s how the German’s version of the Blues could look…

    MOUR GAME TIME
Billy Gilmour’s Chelsea future is now up in the air after Frank Lampard claimed he could leave the club on loan a day before he was sacked.
The Blues had intended to keep the loan option ‘open’ – and if he leaves, Gilmour will become the 32nd player the West Londoners have out on loan.
Ex-Chelsea boss Lamps had said: “At the moment, he won’t go on loan but we will keep it open until the end of the month.”

    LAMPARD’S LAST EVER CAPTAIN
Mason Mount has revealed a picture of him in a Chelsea kit at the age of 6 after captaining the Blues for the first time at the weekend.
The 22-year-old became the youngest skipper for the club since John Terry when he led his side to a 3-1 victory over Luton Town in the fourth round of the FA Cup – Frank Lampard’s last game in charge.

    SOFT TUCH
Chelsea have revealed that they will be making no further comment until such time as a new Head Coach is appointed.
Widespread reports this morning claim that the Blues are close to agreeing a deal with Thomas Tuchel.
The German has been without a club since he was dismissed from his job at Paris Saint-Germain.

    RESULTS GAME
Chelsea have released a statement explaining their decision to sack Frank Lampard.
It read: “This has been a very difficult decision, and not one that the owner and the Board have taken lightly.
“We are grateful to Frank for what he has achieved in his time as Head Coach of the Club.
“However, recent results and performances have not met the Club’s expectations, leaving the Club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement.
“There can never be a good time to part ways with a club legend such as Frank, but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed now to give the Club time to improve performances and results this season.”

    BRIDGE TOO FAR
Frank Lampard leaves Chelsea as their worst Premier League boss since Roman Abramovich bought the club, according to the statistics.
His points-per-game (PPG) record of 1.67 was just behind that of Andre Villas-Boas at the bottom of the pile before his dismissal as Blues boss on Monday.

    STATEMENT FROM THE OWNER
Roman Abramovich said: “This was a very difficult decision for the Club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him.
“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.
“On behalf of everyone at the Club, the Board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as Head Coach and wish him every success in the future.
“He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.”

    TO BE FRANK
Frank Lampard reportedly would have quit Chelsea himself had he not had such a strong connection to the club.
The Athletic have listed the following factors as chief reasons why Lamps’ fairytale return to Stamford Bridge has broken down.
The dressing room felt manager showed no empathy and were hurt by his public criticism.
Lampard would have walked out had he been working for any club other than Chelsea.
Some players complained about lack of tactical instruction and not being spoken to for months.

    WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE
Danny Drinkwater has been forced to deny that he was celebrating Frank Lampard’s imminent dismissal with an ill-time Instagram post.
The Chelsea midfielder took flak for sharing a picture of himself in jubilation after scoring a goal for Leicester.

    TWITS
An ill-timed tweet from Chelsea has sent their fans into overdrive following reports that Frank Lampard is set to be sacked.

    DAY-UM IT
Manchester United have received a blow in their pursuit of RB Leipzig ace Dayot Upamecano as Chelsea have reportedly contacted him about a transfer.
United were said to be front-runners to land the 22-year-old for £55million this month.
But they could now be pipped by the Blues to the post, according to German outlet Kicker.

    TUCH AND GO
Frank Lampard is to be sacked by Chelsea and replaced by Thomas Tuchel, according to sensational reports.
The Blues boss has come under increasing pressure after a horror start to the Premier League season.
Sky Sports claim Thomas Tuchel is set to take over from Lampard with a deal ‘almost done’.

    BREAKING NEWS
Frank Lampard is reportedly set be sacked by Chelsea.
The Telegraph claim confirmation could come as soon as today.
The report added that Chelsea players were told not to report to the training ground until this afternoon.

    WERNING LIGHT
Frank Lampard told Chelsea forward Timo Werner to keep his head up after the German drew another blank in the FA Cup.
He told talkSPORT: “To keep his head up. It’s clear the goals haven’t been going in for him. We’ve been getting him in front of goal a lot but there are periods in your career and life where it doesn’t quite go for you and maybe the penalty is the pinnacle of that.
“Everything else he gave in the game. He was despondent at the end but I told him to keep his head up for those last few minutes because he showed a lot of intention, running in behind, getting in areas and giving a threat.
“Teams will be scared of Timo Werner when they are playing and he’s playing on your shoulder and wants to run in behind because we’ve seen him do it.
“That’s what has made him the player that we brought to the club.
“It’s my job to lift his head up, and his teammates to support him. We’ve all been there. I’ve missed plenty of penalties in my career and the important thing is to bounce back.”

    DAN AND OUT
Danny Drinkwater could miss his debut in Turkish football on Monday after suffering a freak swimming pool injury.
The midfielder has joined Istanbul club Kasimpasa on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.
In preparations for Monday afternoon’s home game with Sivasspor, he picked up the injury – believed to be a muscle problem – during an official club session at the pool.
It will be a blow for Drinkwater, 30, if he misses the game as he is hoping to prove a point after a rotten few years in English football.

    MAGIC OF MALDINI
Fikayo Tomori has revealed how a conversation with legendary defender Paolo Maldini convinced him to join AC Milan.
Maldini, who is the technical director at the Italian side, played more than 900 times for the European giant before retiring and joining the backroom staff.
Tomori told the club’s website: “When I first got the call, I was a bit… I wouldn’t say confused, but I was surprised! I spoke to Paolo Maldini.
