WEST BROM boss Sam Allardyce has signalled his intentions to keep Conor Gallagher at the club if they avoid relegation into the Championship. The 21-year-old has impressed at the Hawthorns since joining from Chelsea on loan in September, with the player featuring in 25 games in all competitions.

And his good form has led to reports that Blues gaffer Thomas Tuchel is keen to promote the midfielder to the first team next term.
Meanwhile Crystal Palace have been linked with a £9million summer swoop for the England youth international.
But Allardyce is desperate for Gallagher to remain in the Midlands, as he believes it will prove more beneficial for him to develop as a player.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash against the Blues, Allardyce told reporters: “If we stay in the Premier League, I’d hope he’d be here next season not at Chelsea.
“I think he’d be better off having another season with us rather than the competition and size of Chelsea’s squad.
“I think his learning and development level has been improved. I’ve seen a good player since I’ve been here.
“I heard about how good he was before I came and think every day and every game he plays in the Premier League he gains more and more experience.
“When you lose more than you win, which he’s experiencing for the first time, it makes you tougher, it makes you more determined.

“And at such a young age to get these disappointments week in and week out could only stand him in good stead about improving his career. He has been a good asset for us.”
Gallagher has spoken of his happiness at being at West Brom following his loan spells at Charlton and Swansea last campaign.
He said: “I was excited to play in the Premier League after a step up from Championship last season. I’ve loved every minute of it. Hopefully I’ll keep developing and improving.
“It’s been a tough season for West Brom so far, so doing the dirty side of the game, the importance of work off the ball [is important].
“Premier League quality will punish you if you switch off, so you need to be concentrated and focused.
“I know people have other views on players going on loan and I’ve been at three different teams, but it’s three different experiences and teams with [different] styles, different managers and players.
“I’ve learnt a lot already in two years. Hopefully I can continue to learn as a player.”

Chelsea leading Sergio Aguero free transfer race with Man City striker ‘wanting to stay in England this summer’

CHELSEA are leading the way in the pursuit of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to reports. The Sky Blues confirmed earlier this week that the 32-year-old Argentine will leave the Etihad when his contract expires this summer.
Aguero has spent ten sensational seasons at Manchester City since joining in 2011Credit: Getty
And now a host of Europe’s top clubs are being linked with the legendary Man City forward’s signature.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are among those who have been touted as possible options for Aguero.
But according to The Mail, it is Chelsea who are in pole position to secure his services at the end of the season.
The Blues were interested in bringing Aguero to Stamford Bridge before he joined City more than ten years ago.
And they may finally be able to get their hands on the South American goalscorer, providing they are willing to pay his £13million per year salary.
Aguero is Man City’s all-time leading scorer having netted 257 goals in 384 games for the club.
But he has featured just 13 times so far this season, scoring four times.
Despite his lack of game time City have continued to thrive and remain in contention for all four competitions this summer.

Meanwhile, Man City are being linked with a number of high-profile strikers to replace Aguero for next season.
Top of their list is Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland, who has scored an incredible 33 goals in 31 games for the German side since the start of the campaign.
But if that does not come off, Pep Guardiola’s men are also rumoured to be in for Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.

Man Utd, City and Chelsea dealt bitter transfer blow as Erling Haaland ‘only wants move to Barcelona or Real Madrid’

ERLING HAALAND only wants a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona, Spanish reports say. It would come as a massive transfer blow to Chelsea, Manchester United and City, who are all linked with the Borussia Dortmund striker.

Mino Raiola and Alfie Haaland were in Spain to speak with rivals Barca and Real Madrid
Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, and dad, Alfie, were in Spain on Thursday to speak with rivals Barca and Real Madrid.
And according to Catalunya Radio, Raiola told Nou Camp president Joan Laporta, the Dortmund forward is only interested in a move to LaLiga.
But, it is claimed Laporta also explained they prefer to sign the 20-year-old next season due to his release clause.
Haaland is available for just £65million in the summer of 2022 per the stipulation.
But any side looking to sign the Norwegian in the next window can be expected to pay close to £150m.
Barca are currently battling huge financial debt, believed to be in the region of £1BILLION.
It leaves them at a disadvantage to Real Madrid, who have the funds to facilitate a deal.

But it is believed the Spanish champions are also eyeing a move for PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe, 22.
Raiola and Haaland Sr are now expected to meet with Premier League clubs in the coming days.
United were linked with Haaland in 2019, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer even meeting with the goal machine.
But he was unable to convince him to make the move to Old Trafford, despite the pair working together at Molde.
City are on the hunt for a new marksman following the news club legend Sergio Aguero, 32, will leave at the end of the season.
Chelsea spent close to £150m on attacking talent last summer, but owner Roman Abramovich is rumoured to be a massive admirer of Haaland.

Five Chelsea defensive transfer targets that Thomas Tuchel should eye in summer including Caglar Soyuncu and Marquinhos

CHELSEA look set for another busy summer transfer market, and depending on who they can sell, there could be a number of key positions they will invest in.A new striker appears to be the main priority, as we spoke about last week. This week we will look at where we believe could become another priority position – a new centre back.
Caglar Soyuncu could become the latest Leicester player to sign for ChelseaCredit: AFP
The club appear to be targeting a certain type of defender; one who is commanding, with a bit of experience, and one who can slot in and play well right away.
Here, Chelsea fan and blogger Simon Phillips looks at five potential targets to keep an eye on in the coming market.
    Pau Torres
The 24-year-old is the perfect option in my opinion. He is a great age and comes with plenty of experience, room to improve even more, and Chelsea will get his peak years signing him now.
He is also very attainable, with the feeling that he is about to make his big vital career move now, one that will be pinnacle for his future.
The 6ft 4in monster already has seven Spain caps, and he is the perfect all-round centre-back that Chelsea are seeking.

    Niklas Sule
Certainly not my first choice and he is also rather injury prone. But we have put him in there because the majority of sources reporting on Chelsea’s centre-back chase are consistently mentioning him.
Experienced as a regular Germany international and has seen it all at Bayern Munich, he is actually better on the ball than some give him credit for and he is certainly quicker than many think. He ticks the dominant box at least.
Again, he is at a good age at 25 – not too old and not too young.
Chelsea have been linked with Germany defender Niklas SuleCredit: Reuters
    Jose Gimenez
The Uruguay international has been on Chelsea’s target list for a couple of seasons now, and he is a defender that many in the club really admire.
He ticks all the boxes, but perhaps his price puts a dampener on this rumour, with the Blues needing over £100million to trigger his release clause.
If they could get a discount from Atletico Madrid, then I don’t think they would hesitate signing this 26-year-old rock.

    Marquinhos
Here we have another centre-back that sits high on my own personal want-list.
The 26-year-old would be a very difficult player to sign, being contracted at Paris Saint-Germain until 2024. However, his ties to Thomas Tuchel could help Chelsea and they have been loosely linked with the Brazilian international recently.
If you have any chance of signing Marquinhos, then you sign Marquinhos.
Marquinhos would be a very ambitious swoop for the BluesCredit: Getty

    Caglar Soyuncu
When Leicester scout and sign a relatively unknown player, they soon become known.
That is certainly the case for 24-year-old Turkey international Soyuncu. I love this player, I think he is going on to be one of the best centre-backs in the world, and again, he ticks every single box that Chelsea need.
There have been some very faint links with Chelsea, and it won’t be an easy signing. But of course, we also thought the same about N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell, who both joined Chelsea from Leicester for a reasonable fee (a bargain in Kante’s case).

Chelsea loanee Malang Sarr to return to club this summer after ‘failing to convince Porto of permanent transfer’

CHELSEA loanee Malang Sarr is set to return to the club in the summer after failing to convince Porto to sign him on a permanent basis.Back in October, the 22-year-old centre-back joined the Portuguese side on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Sarr has failed to make an impression on Porto during his loan spell at the clubCredit: Getty
But Sarr has featured just eight times for Sergio Conceicao’s side in Primeira Liga – 19 times in all competitions.
And his inability to become a first team regular in the side has ultimately led to him being told he will be returning to Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign, according to Record.
It has also been reported that Sarr wants to return to Chelsea as he looks to fight for a place under Thomas Tuchel.
The France Under-21 international has been used as both a centre-back and left-back for Porto.
That versatility is something Tuchel could look to exploit when he returns to England as he continues to mould his squad for the 2021-22 campaign.
Perhaps Sarr’s most valuable contribution as a Porto player was the hour he featured for as a substitute in the Portuguese side’s famous second leg against Juventus in the Champions League.
Porto went through on away goals despite losing 3-2 after extra time in Turin.
They will now play Sarr’s former club Chelsea in the last eight as they look to reach the semi-finals of the tournament for the first time since Jose Mourinho led them to lift the trophy back in 2004.

Meanwhile, Chelsea continue to impress under Tuchel as the German remains unbeaten since taking over from Frank Lampard at the end of January.
The Blues have conceded just twice in 14 games with Tuchel as boss, moving into the top four in the Premier League.
Next up for Chelsea on Saturday is a home match against relegation-threatened West Brom.

Arsenal and Real Madrid ‘agree to delay Martin Odegaard talks until summer’ despite fears Chelsea will hijack transfer

ARSENAL and Real Madrid have agreed to delay talks regarding Martin Odegaard’s future until the summer.Odegaard joined the Gunners on loan from Real during the January transfer window and has hit the ground running with a raft of impressive displays.

Manager Mikel Arteta appears keen on keeping the attacking midfielder on a permanent basis but Los Blancos have yet to decide whether he is part of their plans for next season.
According to Goal, the two clubs have decided to wait until the end of the season before holding talks over a possible permanent deal involving the 22-year-old.
Arsenal are reportedly worried that his parent club will demand a staggering fee of £50million once they return to the negotiation table.
The Gunners also fear stiff competition from London rivals Chelsea, who could hijack their star man in the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keeping tabs on the Norway international but Real may not be keen on selling him at all.
Manager Zinedine Zidane included Odegaard in his plans at the start of the season but a knee problem and a lack of match action hindered his form.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has advised his former club to axe the Norwegian from the first team until they secure a permanent deal.
Merson said: “Martin Odegaard looks a really good player and I hope Arsenal have a chance of signing him permanently.

“Because if they don’t have a chance of making his loan permanent next season, why is he playing?
“If they know he doesn’t want to stay, he shouldn’t be playing because he’s taking opportunities away from people like Emile Smith Rowe.
“So I hope Arsenal have done their homework and know what the situation is – I’d be disappointed if they haven’t already made a bid to be honest.”

Chelsea ‘pricing themselves out of Tiemoue Bakayoko transfer sale with Napoli not interested in paying £15m demands’

CHELSEA are pricing themselves out of selling Tiemoue Bakayoko with Napoli not interested in paying £15million, reports say. Bakayoko joined the Serie A side last summer having been told he was not part of Frank Lampard’s plans.

And after initially impressing at Napoli, and agreement to sign him permanently at the end of the season looked likely.
But after a dip in performances, the Italians are now not willing to meet Chelsea’s £15m fee, and will negotiate, according to CalcioNapoli24.
It is understood Bakayoko wants to stay with Napoli and manager Gennaro Gattuso.
The Frenchman, 26, played at AC Milan under Gattuso, his first loan away from Chelsea.
The following season, he was shipped out to Monaco – the side he left the Blues for in 2017 – for a year.
Bakayoko appears ready to leave Chelsea for good and has put all his efforts into helping Napoli qualify for next season’s Champions League.
His brother and agent Abdoulaye told Si gonfia la rete: “He is focused on finishing the season.
“The goal is obviously the Champions League, he is recharging the batteries for these remaining matches.

“Not an easy moment? I think this drop in form was common to the whole team.
“He arrived on loan and there were high expectations of him and therefore he ended up more in the crosshairs of critics, he may be an example of the moment.
“He is very focused on this situation of chasing the Champions League.

Chelsea eye £21.4m Porto star Jesus Corona transfer but must get deal done before June or price will increase

CHELSEA are reportedly interested in Porto winger Jesus Corona with the Mexican star available for a cheaper price until June. The 28-year-old – who can play as a right-winger or right wing-back – has impressed for the Portuguese side this term, chipping in with three goals and 11 assists in 40 games.

And the Blues will be getting a closer look at the versatile player when they face the Primeira Liga side in the Champions League quarter-finals.
It has been claimed that the West Londoners could reignite their interest in Corona after failing to bring him to Stamford Bridge last year.
According to O Jogo via Fichajes, Corona has a £21.4million release clause in his contract.
But that is only active until June, with his price tag to soar from the start of July.
Any club looking to secure his services would then have to fork out £34m to lure him away from Estadio do Dragao.
Chelsea are known to be admirers of Corona, with his agent Matias Bunge revealing last year that the Premier League giants had spoken to the ex-FC Twente ace.
Speaking in May, he declared: “At some point we talked to them [Chelsea].
“I cannot say if he’s option A, B or C, now they are rather rumours.

“He did awaken a lot of interest for his participation in this particular tournament [Primeira Liga], which has been outstanding and at a high level.
