Antonio Rudiger ‘honoured’ by Bayern Munich transfer interest as he runs down clock on Chelsea contract

CHELSEA defender Antonio Rudiger has revealed he is ‘honoured’ to be receiving interest from German champions Bayern Munich. The 28-year-old centre-back, who has been superb for the Blues since manager Thomas Tuchel took over in January, is set to see his Stamford Bridge contract expire at the end of the season.

And when Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann was asked recently about Rudiger, he said: “In principle I am no fan of talking about players who are under contract with other clubs while we are outside the transfer window.
“But I’m talking about Rudiger as a football fan. He has made fantastic progress.
“Thomas Tuchel has handled him extremely well since taking charge. He was previously on the scrapheap at Chelsea.
“But now he is one of the most important members of their defence. He has incredibly good fighting spirit, and is a very good defender.
“I always think it’s great when a player lives up to his job description – and that is always the case with Toni.”
Rudiger has now responded to those comments but caveated them by insisting he remains happy with Chelsea for the time being.

Speaking to BILD journalist Christian Falk, he said: “My future? I feel good at Chelsea where I am now, so that fits.
“FC Bayern interest honors me because that shows that I’ve done a few things right recently”
It was reported this week that Rudiger’s Chelsea contract talks are ‘on hold’ after the German was left ‘disappointed’ by the Blues’ last offer.
According to Sky Germany, Rudiger’s Chelsea future is ‘completely open’.

They claim that no decision will be made until January at the earliest.
Meanwhile, The Mirror claim that Rudiger is looking to earn an eyewatering £400,000-a-week.

Seven transfers we could see in January as Arsenal move for Calvert-Lewin and Watkins and van de Beek in Man Utd exit

THERE is less than three months until the transfer window swings wide open again and clubs try and find some New Year deals. The likes of Luis Suarez, Bruno Fernandes and Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang arrived in the Premier League during previous winter windows

And there is already plenty of speculation surrounding who will be going where in the first few weeks of 2022.
So SunSport rounds up some of the biggest transfers that could get over the line in January…
Ollie Watkins or Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Arsenal
The Gunners need a new striker with Alexandre Lacazette’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
And as revealed by SunSport, they are eyeing two of the Premier League and England’s hottest young strikers to lead the line long-term.

Donny van de Beek to Everton
He wanted out of Old Trafford in the summer but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked a last-minute loan to the Toffees.
But now clearer than ever he is not in the plans, Van de Beek could be allowed to make the switch in January – or may return to boyhood club Ajax.

    Raheem Sterling to Barcelona
The England winger continues to struggle for game time under Pep Guardiola this term and Barcelona could be set to pounce.
Apparently, the Catalan giants have the funds, despite their financial mess, to stump up £60million for Sterling.

    Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea
The RB Leipzig midfielder, who scored a hat-trick against Manchester City in September, worked under Thomas Tuchel at PSG and could be reunited with the German.
The 23-year-old’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has confirmed he is in talks with Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid over a 2022 switch – but the Blues may swoop and get a deal done early.
Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is also a target but Chelsea face competition from Juventus for his signature.

    Paul Pogba to PSG
The ongoing saga surrounding Pogba continues with his current Manchester United contract expiring next summer.
The Red Devils want him to make a decision on his future by Christmas but failure to do so could see the club sell him on the cheap in January rather than lose him for free with PSG ahead of Real Madrid and Juventus in the race.

    Pau Torres to Man City
That’s right – Manchester City are being linked with yet another centre-back with the Etihad club ‘well positioned’ to land the Villarreal ace.
United and Tottenham have wanted him in the past but Pep Guardiola likes his compatriot and wants him as further competition for Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Nathan Ake.

    Allan Saint-Maximin to Liverpool
Newcastle’s exciting winger certainly catches the eye with his dazzling runs and trickery – and it has not gone unnoticed at Anfield or Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool looks the likeliest destination but it would surely take a mammoth bid to convince Mike Ashley to sell one of his best players amid a relegation dogfight.

Man Utd and Chelsea monitoring Franck Kessie transfer situation with AC Milan midfielder ‘wanting Prem switch’

MANCHESTER UNITED are one of several Premier League teams keeping an eye on AC Milan star Franck Kessie, according to reports.Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton are all said to be in the mix for the Ivorian following his strong form for the Italian club.
Franck Kessie is being tracked by multiple Premier League teamsCredit: AFP
Kessie, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season, his fifth at the San Siro.
English clubs will therefore be able to negotiate a pre-agreement for a summer free transfer as soon as January.
As reported by 90min, United and many Prem rivals have asked Kessie’s agent to be kept in the loop if the player decides to hear out offers.
Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also named in the report but the midfielder is said to prefer a move to England, which is seen as a better fit for his playing style.
But Milan still have a couple of months to persuade him to stay.
Talks over a new contract are said to be at a standstill following Kessie’s rejection of a new deal.

Reports in Italy detail Milan’s proposal to more than double his current £35,000 weekly wage to over £80,000-a-week.
That would then rise to £105,000-a-week in the final two years of the proposed five-year contract, according to Tuttosport.
However, Kessie is said to be seeking as much as £115,000-a-week as a starting salary, following his role in Milan’s resurgence over the past year.
A decision will reportedly be made by the former Atalanta star in January over whether he will stick with the Rossoneri or head for pastures new.
Should he choose to move on, Milan are described by Corriere dello Sport as increasingly confident that the emerging Sandro Tonali will step up as the key man in their midfield.

The Blues opened talks with the Serie A club and were even prepared to make wing-back Marcos Alonso part of the package.
However, Hakimi opted for the French capital instead as he felt PSG’s project was more appealing than Thomas Tuchel’s at Stamford Bridge.
He told L’Equipe, via Football Italia: “I had two offers, one from Chelsea and one from Paris Saint-Germain.
“But I felt I had to come to Paris, that I would have been happy there.
“PSG is a great club, I really appreciate the support the fans gave me straight away.
“I was lucky because so many other champions joined me. I feel good at PSG, we have a dream team and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

The defender was the first of several high-profile arrivals at Parc des Princes during the summer window.
He was soon joined by Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma and, of course, Lionel Messi at PSG.
Hakimi also admitted that he has been surprised by how ‘simple’ and ‘quiet’ the Argentine is.
He added: “For Messi to leave Barca, like everyone else, I didn’t expect it.
“And when I heard you were coming here, what can I say? A dream for me!
“I played with many great players and the only one I missed was Messi! I am proud to evolve with such a good footballer.
“To progress, I will pay attention to how he trains, how he plays. It will grow the team and each of the players that make it up.
“We speak the same language, in addition, little by little we are getting to know each other.
“Building a technical relationship with him is easy! I give him the ball, I run and he will put it where it belongs! I was surprised by the way he behaved, he is simple, quiet.”

Timo Werner ‘wanted to join Man Utd’ over Chelsea or Liverpool before his £48m Stamford Bridge transfer

A ‘million-dollar- dispute is ongoing between the two men, as reported by Bild.
The case is set to be heard on Tuesday but documents revealed ahead of the hearing suggest Werner’s preferred destination was Old Trafford before he left RB Leipzig.
In WhatsApp messages from 2019, Werner reportedly told Lokurlu United were his ‘favourites’ with Chelsea named as ‘great alternatives’.
United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all said to have been in for Werner in 2019.
The Red Devils are said to have sent a proposal to Lokurlu via WhatsApp to which he replied: “We’ll see.”
Liverpool also reportedly submitted a concrete offer with a ‘secret meeting’ said to have taken place between Werner and the Reds.

A five-year deal on around £200,000-a-week with approximately £20m in bonuses was reportedly put on the table.
However, Liverpool eventually signed Diogo Jota, and Chelsea swooped last June.
The Blues paid £53m and pay him an eye-watering £270k-a-week.
Chelsea paid through the nose for Timo Werner
But he has failed to provide value for money so far with just 13 goals in 59 matches for the West Londoners.
His game time looked like it would be limited this season with Romelu Lukaku hitting the ground running after his £97.5m switch from Inter Milan.
The Belgian has four in seven and has already cemented himself as No 1 striker, but Werner could now form a surprise two-man attack with him after starting alongside Lukaku in Saturday’s defeat to Manchester City.

Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger ‘will not rush over extending contract and eyeing pay rise to stay at Stamford Bridge’

ANTONIO RUDIGER is in no rush to extend his Chelsea deal and is hoping for a pay rise, according to reports. The defender, 28, is out of contract in June and believes his next deal is the ‘most important decision’ of his playing career.

According to 90min, Rudiger wants to be rewarded for his good form with a ‘significant’ pay rise – making him one of Chelsea’s highest earners.
The Germany international has played a vital role in the team since manager Thomas Tuchel was appointed in January.
Rudiger was even recently described as ‘arguably the best centre-back’ in the Premier League by Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.
The defender currently earns around £100,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge, not even a third of Romelu Lukaku’s £325,000-a-week salary.
It’s believed Chelsea are yet to make Rudiger a satisfactory offer and, as this is potentially his last big contract, he won’t make a rash decision.
The player told Sky Deutschland: “For me, this will now be the most important decision of my professional career.”

Champions League hopefuls Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in bringing Rudiger to the French capital next summer.
And rumours suggest the player has been contacted by German giants Bayern Munich – but he insists that’s not the case.
The ex-Roma ace added: “I haven’t spoken to any other club than Chelsea.”
Rudiger reportedly wants around £180,000-a-week to stay in West London, which is still less than what fellow defender Ben Chilwell earns.
The centre-back has made 104 Premier League appearances since joining Chelsea in July 2017, winning three major honours.

Chelsea targeting £103m Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt transfer after failing to land Jules Kounde in summer window

CHELSEA are reportedly plotting a £103million transfer swoop for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is looking for defensive reinforcements despite enjoying Champions League glory in May.

His top target was Jules Kounde but Sevilla held firm and eventually priced the French international out of a move to Stamford Bridge.
That left Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger as first-choice centre-backs at Chelsea this term and all three have shone.
Tuchel’s men have conceded just once – a penalty against Liverpool – and have kept five clean sheets out of their six games.
However, the German coach still looks set to push ahead with his pursuit of a new defender with all three of the above becoming free agents in June.
According to Calciomercato, Chelsea are ‘very interested’ in former Ajax ace De Ligt as a potential replacement.
And the report states that they have put him at the top of their transfer wishlist for next season.

The Netherlands international, 22, moved to Turin in 2019 but he has a release clause of £103m included in his package.
That becomes active at the end of the current campaign and could ignite the Blues into action.

Although the Bianconeri are hoping to secure De Ligt’s long-term future by offering him a new contract to fend off interest from Chelsea.
The star does not seem to be too deterred by the speculation as he scored the crucial goal to seal a 3-2 win for Juventus at Spezia last night in Serie A.
