Chelsea flop Timo Werner wanted by Barcelona on loan transfer in January with crisis club desperate for new striker

BARCELONA are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea flop Timo Werner on loan in the January transfer window. The German forward has struggled to adjust to the Premier League since arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2020.
Goals have been few and far between for Werner since joining ChelseaCredit: PA
He has managed just 14 goals in 62 appearances and only two goals so far this season.
Yet despite his poor form in England, Werner remains a desirable acquisition for many clubs around Europe.
And, according to The Hard Tackle, Barcelona have now emerged as a potential location for the 25-year-old in January.
New boss Xavi, who took over from Ronald Koeman last week, has already been hit with a striker crisis at the Nou Camp.
Martin Braithwaite is continuing to recover from a serious injury, with Sergio Aguero also out indefinitely.
Young star Ansu Fati is struggling with fitness issues and Luke de Jong is reportedly not favoured by the new Barca manager.

As a result, they are looking for a new focal point to their attack and Werner is said to fit the mould.
However, due to the Catalan giants’ crippling financial situation they would only be looking to bring the Chelsea man in on loan.
As well as Werner, Barca have also been linked with a number of other Premier League forwards.
These include Manchester City and England international Raheem Sterling and Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Chelsea ‘agree £20m Attila Szalai transfer fee from Fenerbahce’ with 23-year-old defender dubbed ‘Hungarian Van Dijk’

CHELSEA have reportedly agreed a £20million fee to sign Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai. The 23-year-old came to the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs with his superb performances for Hungary at Euro 2020.
Szalai looks set to sign for Chelsea in JanuaryCredit: Getty
And now, according to CNN Turk, he will sign a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge and join up with Thomas Tuchel’s squad in January.
Szalai, dubbed the ‘Hungarian Virgil van Dijk’, is expected to earn an annual salary of around £3.4m.
He will likely be the eventual successor to 36-year-old Thiago Silva as the Brazilian’s contract comes to an end in the summer.
Szalai’s valuation has soared since joining Super Lig giants Fenerbache from Cypriots Apollon Limassol in January – for just £1.8m.
He previously played for Rapid Vienna and Hungarian club Mezokovesd.
The defender is under contract with the Turkish side until 2025 but Chelsea are expected to get a deal over the line.

Szalai has won 21 caps since making his senior international debut for Hungary in 2019.
He played in both their recent World Cup qualifiers against England – a 4-0 home loss in Budapest and last month’s impressive 1-1 draw at Wembley.
Meanwhile, Tuchel has a number of options in the centre-back position at this moment in time.
The German coach boasts six recognised central defenders in his current squad – Silva, Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr.
And he has been able to rotate those players so far this season while maintaining a solid defensive record.
Chelsea have conceded just four Premier League goals in 11 games, the fewest of any team.
What’s more, two of those came from the penalty spot, meaning Gabriel Jesus’ deflected strike and Matej Vydra’s goal for Burnley last weekend are the only ones Tuchel’s side have conceded from open play. More

Chelsea fight to keep talented youngster Ben Elliott, 18, at club with THREE Prem rivals targeting transfer swoop

CHELSEA are facing a fight to keep hold of another of their brilliant young players with teenager Ben Elliott being tracked by a trio of Premier League rivals.Southampton, Brighton and Brentford have all shown an interested in the teenager who the European champions are keen to tie down to a new long-term deal.
Highly-rated Chelsea youngster Ben Elliott, 18, is wanted in a three-way tussle by Southampton, Brighton and BrentfordCredit: Getty
Playmaker Elliott, 18, has been a highly-regarded member of the Blues academy since a schoolboy and has been part of the club’s under-23 squad for the past 18 months.
But his current contract runs out at the end of this season and though Chelsea are putting a new deal on the table, they fear he may be tempted to follow a number of other bright talents in making a move elsewhere.
Brighton bagged a bargain when they captured Tariq Lamptey for £5million with the offer of regular first team football for the then 19-year-old.
And Saints themselves forked out £5m last summer for another full-back in Tino Livramento – with both players deciding their development would be stifled by a lack of first team opportunities if they stayed at Chelsea.
So for the two South Coast clubs and Brentford to start showing interest is worrying news for bosses at Stamford Bridge.
They know they are unable to offer as much realistic chance to first team call-ups, even though he has been training in and around Thomas Tuchel’s squad this season.

Elliott is exactly the kind of profile that fits the models of Saints, Brighton and Brentford like to work with in developing young talent who could not only thrive in the first team but also be sold on for big profit.
And the trio could even make their moves in January to avoid him becoming a free agent in the summer.
A bid of around £800,000 might be enough to land the prospect If he decides his future lies away from Chelsea.

Real Madrid plan to offload FOUR top-earners including Hazard to land Chelsea star Rudiger in £200k-a-week free transfer

REAL MADRID are preparing to offload four star players as they look to bring in Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger at the end of the season.Carlo Ancelotti has relied on David Alaba and Eder Militao as his first choice central defensive pairing for much of the 2021-22 campaign so far.

But he is still keen to strengthen in that area of his squad and has identified Chelsea’s German stalwart as a potential target.
Rudiger’s contract comes to an end at Stamford Bridge in the summer.
This means he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club as early as January.
And, according to AS, Real could be in a position to offer him a £200,000 a week deal because of the absence of a transfer fee.
They are also expecting to shift some huge wage earners from their books at the end of the campaign.
These include Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Isco who will all become free agents in the summer.

Hazard has been a total flop since arriving in SpainCredit: Rex
And Eden Hazard, whose deal runs until 2024, could also be on his way out having netted just five goals in 53 games since arriving from Chelsea in 2019.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this month that Chelsea are continuing to try and negotiate a new contract with Rudiger.
He said: “Chelsea are still negotiating with Toni Rudiger agents over new contract.
“Talks ongoing – there’s currently no agreement on salary but it’s not over as Rudiger is so happy with Chelsea and Tuchel.”

Rudiger was superb under Thomas Tuchel in the second half of last season, playing an integral part in their Champions League triumph.
But it looks as though the Blues could already be preparing for life without him following the announcement of Trevoh Chalobah’s new contract on Thursday.
The 22-year-old has committed his future to Chelsea by penning a new four-and-a-half year deal which will keep him at the club until 2026. More

Chelsea boss Tuchel holds talks with Norwich over Billy Gilmour and could recall out-of-favour ace from loan in January

CHELSEA boss Thomas Tuchel has refused to rule out recalling Billy Gilmour from his loan spell at Norwich – just four months after the midfielder’s move to Carrow Road.Scotland international Gilmour joined the Canaries on a season-long loan in July but has been left on the sidelines in recent weeks.

But the Scotland international has been an unused sub in four of the Canaries’ last five matchesCredit: PA
Gilmour, 20, hasn’t played since Norwich’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool in September and has been an unused sub in four of the club’s last five league matches.
And Blues boss Tuchel hasn’t ruled out recalling the midfielder, saying: “We will take the decision in January when it has to be made.
“In general, I spoke with Daniel [Farke] about it and I was happy to meet Billy around the Norwich match at Stamford Bridge.
“It was clear when we spoke about it that he wants more minutes and more game time at another club.
“The challenge was clear that he needs to fight his way through and this is where he is right now.
“Things are not going as he maybe wishes, or as we all wish for, but it’s not the moment now to already give solutions and cancel the whole project.

“Sometimes these weeks and months arrive when the situation seems to be stuck or is not going the right way.”
Tuchel doesn’t want the young Scot to be disheartened by his lack of first-team football.
He continued: “You have to hang in there, you have to show your quality and make sure you help your team, no matter where it is.
“That sharpens your character and it will be a big chapter in your career and that’s the same with Billy.
“For me right now it’s not the moment to give solutions for January and open talks to bring him back.
Tuchel has urged the 20-year-old midfielder to ‘hang in there’
“Now it is November, there are some months to go and a lot of time to prove he has enough quality to help Norwich be a better team.”
Norwich will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, travelling to west London to take on Brentford.
Chelsea, meanwhile, will next take to the pitch on Tuesday night when they face Malmo in their fourth Champions League Group H match of the season.

Chelsea keeper Kepa wanted by Juventus with Italians desperate for transfer as replacement for ex-Arsenal ace Szczesny

Arrizabalaga, who is tied down in West London until 2025, has featured in just three games in all competitions this season.
But despite his lack of game time, Juventus are said to be keen to secure his services to replace ex-Arsenal shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny.
According to Fichajes, boss Massimiliano Allegri is desperate to bring the Spain international to Italy.
It is said that Juve have run out of patience with Szczesny, who has been plagued by inconsistent performances this term.
And they have made signing Arrizabalaga their priority in 2022.
However, the news outlet claims that the Old Lady will wait until the summer to do business and will not make a move for him in the winter transfer window.

Juventus are said to have always been interested in the goalkeeper – even during his time at Athletic Bilbao before he made the switch to England.
However they could face competition from their Serie A rivals Lazio in the race to prise him away from the Premier League.
A report from Corriere dello Sport has declared that former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is keen on a reunion with Arrizabalaga.
They state that Lazio and Chelsea held talks over a possible loan move in the summer, but the player decided to stay to fight for the No1 spot.
Speaking last month, German gaffer Thomas Tuchel insisted that Arrizabalaga is ‘happy’ at Chelsea.
He remarked: “He seems happy to me in the place that he is and the part he plays in this team.

“He is pushing and he is fighting for his chances — but you cannot force situations.
“Now I have the feeling with his mindset that he is here, with the calmness and the positivity he trains with and he gets the rewards and it came to him.
“It was not necessary to prove to me he is a good keeper. I see this everyday.”

Romelu Lukaku left Inter Milan to DOUBLE salary at Chelsea but free-transfer Dzeko has filled gap, says club chief

CHELSEA doubled Romelu Lukaku’s salary when they secured his return to the club in the summer, according to an Inter Milan chief. The 28-year-old Belgian fired the Serie A giants to their first title in more than a decade earlier this year but then left to rejoin Thomas Tuchel’s men for a club record fee of £97.5million.

Lukaku cited unfinished business as the reason for a second spell with Chelsea, where he failed to score in 10 appearances during his first stint.
But Inter CEO Beppe Marotta insists the financial upside was the main driving force behind the striker’s decision to leave Inter.
He told Corriere della Sera: “Lukaku left to double his salary, in Italy these figures can’t exist.”
SunSport understands Lukaku is now on £325,000 a week, making him the club’s highest earner.
The Serie A winner is thought to be on £15,000 more than Chelsea’s next best-paid player Kai Havertz.
Meanwhile, Inter replaced Lukaku with former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

They were able to secure the Bosnian striker on a free transfer after his contract came to an end with fellow Italian side Roma.
And he has hit the ground running at the San Siro, netting six goals in eight Serie A appearances so far.
“Lukaku was sold for £97.5m and we bought Dzeko for free. On the pitch, there isn’t much difference,” Marotta added.
Lukaku limped off during Chelsea’s victory over Malmo in the Champions League on Tuesday.
And he is now set to be on the sidelines for up to a month, with teammate Timo Werner also suffering a knock.
Former Chelsea man Joe Cole has now called on Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi to step up and fill Lukaku’s shoes.

“Players like Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi, they’ve come on tonight, they impacted the game, can they do that again on Saturday?

Chelsea set to snub Saul Niguez transfer after flop loan and target Marcelo Brozovic instead

CHELSEA have ‘no intention’ of making Saul Niguez’s loan move a permanent one and are instead exploring different targets for next summer. Saul signed late on transfer deadline day, with the Blues having the option to sign the 26-year-old permanently at the end of the season.

But after playing just 146 minutes of football so far, Thomas Tuchel is now eyeing a move for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to La Razon.
Saul’s lack of playing time means ‘everything indicates’ he will be heading back to the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer.
The 19-cap Spain international joined the Blues in a bid for more first team football, but has had limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge.
He made his Premier League debut against Aston Villa on September 11, but was hauled off at half time after a torrid 45 minutes.
The midfielder then played 76 minutes in the Carabao Cup clash against Aston Villa later that month, and came off the bench against Malmo in midweek.
Saul’s return to Madrid will allow the Blues to press on with a deal for Croatian international Brozovic.

The 28-year-old is out of contract with the Serie A champions in the summer.
He is in talks with the San Siro side regarding a new deal but could be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
The Blues are said to be monitoring negotiations between Brozovic and the Nerazzurri, and are ready to swoop in with a ‘hefty package.’
The Serie A side are said to be short of cash despite selling Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi in the summer.
It means they could be priced out of Brozovic’s £100,000-a-week wage demands.
The Blues were previously linked with a move for Brozovic in 2016, but he decided to pen a new long-term deal at San Siro.
Newcastle and PSG are also rumoured to be interested in a move for the Inter midfielder. More
