ROMELU LUKAKU is the single WORST signing in Chelsea’s history.That’s according to ex-Blues star Glen Johnson, who reckons the Premier League is just too fast for the Belgian.

Lukaku, 29, only scored eight goals following his record £97.5million move from Inter Milan last summer.
The striker also upset fans and boss Thomas Tuchel when he criticised Chelsea just months into his return.
And Lukaku was unceremoniously booted out of west London for a second time when he sealed a loan back to Inter last month.
Lukaku is now hoping to regain the form that saw him net 47 Serie A goals in two seasons.

But Johnson believes the ex-Manchester United flop was never capable of getting those numbers in England.
Johnson feels the tempo of the Premier League is too quick for the lumbering forward.
And Lukaku’s abject failure in his second Chelsea spell makes him the worst signing of all time at Stamford Bridge.

“I just think the Premier League is too fast for him. When he’s at his best, he just tries to keep things simple, he doesn’t get involved in the game too much and he’s between the goalposts and doesn’t move.

Having ended a miserable 2021/22 loan campaign with Norwich – where the club were relegated and he was subject to fan abuse – Gilmour was hoping to impress back at Chelsea.
Gilmour had spoken previously of this being a “big pre-season” and wanting to “stay and fight” for his place in the team.
However, the 21-year-old was sent off to work with the U23s at their camp in Salt Lake on Sunday after being deemed surplus to requirements by Tuchel.
And Gilmour will now look to sit down with the German coach when they are both back at Cobham to find out if he will be given a chance to earn a role in the starting XI.

Gilmour said: “It’s the fans’ opinion. They come to watch games and pay for their ticket and they shout but that has happened and it wasn’t nice to hear.
“I gave it my all, tried to work hard every game, but it was a difficult season and of course it was hard. It was also hard for my family. It’s never nice but I would just get my head down.

Last summer, the £97.5million purchase of Romelu Lukaku ensured Werner was not Tuchel’s attacking focal point — and he ended up making just 15 Premier League starts.
There is a sense of deja vu this summer with Raheem Sterling a £50m arrival from Manchester City, which saw Tuchel looking elsewhere rather than putting faith in Werner.

“In many games I was not in his thoughts so I try to change that. It is not different to last season, it was the same when Romelu came. We had big, big competition. It’s still the same.
“At a big club like Chelsea you have that competition. In pre-season you can show that you want to play, that you are a guy who wants to be in the starting XI. That’s what I try.”
