Werner is the second high-profile forward to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Blues shunted Romelu Lukaku out on loan to Inter Milan, just a year after shelling out £97.5m to re-sign him.
Tuchel started with Kai Havertz up front at the weekend, with Armando Broja coming on from the bench after returning from Southampton.

The German Blues boss admitted last week that Chelsea stars believe their No9 shirt is cursed – after it was most recently worn by Lukaku.
He said: “It’s cursed, it’s cursed — people tell me it’s cursed.
“It’s not the case we are leaving it open for tactical reasons, for players to come in and take it.
“There was not a big demand for No 9, like when players sometimes want to change numbers. Surprisingly, nobody wants to touch it.

“Everybody who has been at the club longer than me tells me, ‘Ah, you know, he had the nine and he did not score… and he had the nine and also did not score’.
“So we now have a moment where nobody wants to touch the number nine. I’m superstitious, I can understand why players maybe don’t touch it and have other preferences.” More

Tuchel has confirmed Chelsea have agreed to let left-back Alonso leave this summer, with Barca his most likely destination.
He said: “He tries to leave and we agreed to this wish and that’s why it would not have made sense to put him on the pitch today.

Chelsea verdict: Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly debuts prove Todd Boehly right to back Thomas Tuchel on transfers

WHEN Roman Abramovich packed his bags, many wondered how Chelsea were going cope in the transfer market.New American owner Todd Boehly has no experience of European football.

And some argued his position was weakened when Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech also departed Stamford Bridge.
But Boehly wanted his first transfer window to rest entirely in the hands of Thomas Tuchel.
It’s a rare thing for a Chelsea boss to get a say when it comes to signings.
However, Tuchel is a Champions League winner who deserves the chance to build a squad in his image.

And in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, the German has hit the nail on the head as both had fine debuts in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Everton.
Gone up front is Romelu Lukaku and his bad attitude, terrible touch and concrete boots.
Sterling was like a breath of fresh air in the final third against Everton, gliding in and around their five-man defence at pace.
Determined to drive his team forward, Sterling was at the heart of every good attacking Chelsea move.

And being signed for under £50million, with the peak of his career yet to come, has to go down as excellent business.
But Tuchel also got it right when it came to replacing Antonio Rudiger, a key figure in his team the past 18 months.
Supporters of Koulibaly were brushed off as “Fifa fans” when Napoli finally gave him up, with the defender’s best days apparently behind him.
Yet Koulibaly’s performance against Everton was so composed that one would be forgiven for forgetting Rudiger occupied the same space.
    NEW NAME, SAME RESILIENCE
The Afcon winner appeared to exert almost no sweat as he stemmed almost every Everton attack.
Koulibaly was also dominant going forward, showing off a tidy range of passes and dribbles while also bombing into the box.
Chelsea’s transfer window had been written off by many given the amount of players who reportedly rejected them.
But if Sterling and Koulibaly are anything to go by, Tuchel also has the magic touch in the negotiating room.

And in a hectic window the Blues have missed out on the signings of Raphinha and Jules Kounde to Barcelona.
Chelsea’s business led to claims from Neville that Boehly is starting to get “panicky” and the businessman is treating his new role “like he wants to play Football Manager”.
Boehly has brought in Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Gabriel Slonina and Carney Chukwuemeka for a combined £178million.
In response to Neville’s comments, Tuchel said on Boehly: “Panicking? No, I would describe it as super hard working and learning while on the job.

“The transfer market is one of the toughest things you can do when you come from the outside but I have nothing but compliments and the biggest respect for Todd.
“I don’t know when they sleep, I think maybe they never sleep.
“We have a very honest, open and direct line of communication and the transfers so far speak for themselves.
“We have a delay, of course. Nobody is guilty for that delay because of the sanctions, which led to the loss of key players.”

Tuchel finished off by praising Boehly for doing a “fantastic job” by bringing in the players he has done.
He added: “But both of the owners who are involved in the daily business are doing a fantastic job so far.”
The business doesn’t look like it’s finished yet either.
Chelsea remain interested in Leicester defender Wesley Fofana – and any potential would take their summer spending over £250m.
The Blues have also been linked with Barcelona duo Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with Marcos Alonso expected to be heading the other way.

But these are still not enough for Tuchel, who has reportedly described his squad as average.
According to Florian Plettenberg, the German coach wants to add Aubameyang to his squad next, having previously worked with him while at Borussia Dortmund.
However, Barcelona want to keep the former Arsenal man as a top back up to Lewandowski, with them preferring Memphis Depay to leave instead.
Aubameyang joined the club on a free transfer in January, scoring 13 times in 23 games.
