Thomas Tuchel has targeted Fofana as the long-term answer to his defensive problems after losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer.
However the Foxes have rejected Chelsea’s first two offers of £60million and £70million for their outstanding prospect and are believed to be holding out for a world record fee in excess of £80million for the jewel in their crown.
Chelsea are weighing up whether to launch a third and final bid but Rodgers revealed he wasn’t aware of any fresh bids ahead of Saturday’s visit to Arsenal.
Rodgers said: “I’m not aware of any fresh offers.

“There were two bids but again nowhere near what the club would even think about.
“The point again to reiterate is we are not looking to sell Wesley, that’s the key point.
“I’ve had a chat with him and told him another year here for him, at least, would be really important for his development.
“He is quite calm and relaxed about the situation.

“He is aware of the interest. He understands where we are as a club and where we see him.
“He’s just getting on with his work and training well.”
While stressing Fofana isn’t for sale, Rodgers gave Chelsea a chink of light when he admitted it was natural for any club to consider bids – but warned time is running out for Leicester to find a suitable replacement.
He said: “He’s not a player we are actively looking to move on but naturally if there is interest from other clubs then of course that is looked at by the club.
“He’s a top young defender and there are not too many about at his age. He’s someone we’d love to keep here but we have to wait and see what develops.” More

Diego Costa back in Europe as Rayo Vallecano CONFIRM transfer with ex-Chelsea star to partner Radamel Falcao up front

DIEGO COSTA is edging closer to a return to Europe with a move to Rayo Vallecano. The former Chelsea striker last played for Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro in 2021 after leaving Atletico Madrid in 2020.

The deal to bring him back to Spain now appears all but done with the 33-year-old hoping he can terrorise La Liga defenders all over again.
The move would mean he would also reunite with fellow attacker Radamel Falcao, with the pair sharing a dressing room briefly at Chelsea and more memorably at Atletico Madrid where they formed a formidable frontline.
Falcao signed for the Spanish club a year ago and it means that mid-table Rayo Vallecano now have two strikers who were among the most feared in Europe over the last decade.
Marca report that the deal is done and will be announced soon.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
They say the negotiations were led by Rayo club president Raul Martin Presa, who also took the lead when Falcao signed a year ago.
Then the 36-year-old striker was in the process of rebuilding his reputation after a couple of botched loan moves to Manchester United and then Chelsea.
Costa will reportedly sign a one year contract which has the option of a further year.
Rayo will be hoping their strike force can find the net with regularity, especially given the fact that the club scored fewer goals than two of the three sides relegated from La Liga last season.

The move also represents a return for Costa, who played for Rayo Vallecano on loan ten years ago.
His ten goals in 16 games helped keep them up in the 2011/12 season.
Premier League fans will best remember Costa for his three years at Chelsea, where he won the title twice but eventually fell out with his boss Antonio Conte. More

And with De Jong yet to decide where his future lies, the transfer saga is set to rumble on this month.

In the meantime, De Jong has been enjoying what could potentially be his final days in Catalonia.
The Dutch ace and fiancee Mikky Kiemeney decided to take a trip so they could try their hand at wakeboarding.
An Instagram Story video showed De Jong gliding along the water while being pulled by a high-speed boat.

And a further picture showed De Jong travelling with just one hand while using the other for the perfect pose.
One would be forgiven for thinking there was nothing going on in regarding De Jong’s playing future.
But the Holland ace now has a big decision to make ahead of the new LaLiga campaign this weekend.
Barcelona’s financial woes are still very much present.
And until De Jong goes, they can’t even register new signings Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie.

Chelsea ‘interested in Christian Pulisic swap transfer for Nicolo Zaniolo with Roma as Blues winger looks to quit’

CHELSEA are reportedly interested in a swap deal that would see Christian Pulisic go to Roma – and see Tottenham target Nicolo Zaniolo head the other way. The Blues’ American star is increasingly frustrated with his game time at Stamford Bridge and may find his route into the team further blocked after the signing of Raheem Sterling.

Chelsea are looking for more forward options after letting Timo Werner follow Romelu Lukaku out of the club.
The case for more attackers was underlined by the uninspiring win at Goodison Park at the weekend.

Now reports suggest they are eyeing the highly-rated Nicolo Zaniolo.
Calciomercato report that the Blues would prefer a swap deal, which would allow them to offload Pulisic and potentially upgrade on him.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
Zaniolo has impressed with his performances at Roma in recent seasons, and scored the winning goal against Feyenoord in the Europa Conference League final.
Spurs had been edging closer to the attacker all summer as they look to cut the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool.
Reports suggest the Italian could have well already landed in North London if not the for the late intervention of ex-Spurs gaffer Jose Mourinho.
Spurs had reportedly sealed a one year loan agreement with a £40m option to buy before the Roma boss pulled the plug at the last minute.

It leaves the door open to Chelsea, who earlier this month beat Man City to the signing of Marc Cucurella.
Pulisic only started 13 Premier League games last season and has failed to consistently impress fans.
He mentioned while on international duty with the USA earlier this year that he was looking for more “playing time” ahead of the World Cup.
The winger’s father went one step further, hitting out at the his son’s “sad situation” at Stamford Bridge. More

Piers Morgan slams Mikel Arteta for ‘humiliating’ Aubameyang which ‘cost Arsenal top four’ amid Chelsea transfer links

PIERS MORGAN has accused Mikel Arteta of “humiliating” Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal amid reports he could be set to join Chelsea. The 33-year-old saw his Gunners contract terminated back in January after several disciplinary issues.

He joined Barcelona for the second half of last season, scoring 13 times in 23 games.
But now he is rumoured to be on his way back to the Premier League as Chelsea eye him up as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
A potentially swift exit from the Nou Camp led to a tweet from @GoonerTalk who said: “Piers Morgan went on and on about Arsenal offloading ‘world class striker’ Aubameyang, just for Barcelona to try to get rid of him 6 months later.
“If a player is rumoured to be problematic and then two teams bin him within 6 months, you can take those rumours as gospel.”

To which SunSport columnist Piers replied: “No reports of [Aubameyang] being anything but exemplary at Barca, and a goal machine.
“Now he may go to Chelsea, managed by [Thomas] Tuchel who managed him at Dortmund & loved him so much he wants to work with him again.
“So every part of this tweet is utter twaddle.”
Another social media user then slammed Aubameyang’s inability to attend meetings on time.

With Morgan snapping back again, saying: “He’s a poor time-keeper, big deal.
“Tuchel managed him superbly, Arteta chose to humiliate him and give him away – costing us top four.”
Aubameyang was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy in December last year after returning home late from a trip abroad.
Explaining the decision at the time, Arteta said: “The decision we have taken as a club is very clear.

“It is because we believe he has failed to be committed as the level we all expect and agree. It is as simple as that.
“What I expect from any person in this football club, that is representing this badge, is passion and that he gives absolutely 100%, that he puts the club in front of any personal interests and is able to do anything to fulfil the badge we have on the chest.
“Apart from that, you can listen to individuals and you can understand different cultures, but that commitment and passion has to be there. Unfortunately, it wasn’t.”

Aubameyang’s outrageous stats during time under Thomas Tuchel explain why German tactician wants reunion at Chelsea

CHELSEA are considering making a shock swoop for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this month. But should their interest come as such a surprise?
Thomas Tuchel got the best out of Pierre-Emerick AubameyangCredit: EPA

On the face of it, signing a player recently frozen out by Arsenal would seem a little odd…
Until you see his incredible previous record under Thomas Tuchel.
Aubameyang was managed by the Chelsea boss for two years at Borussia Dortmund between 2015 and 2017.
In that period, Aubameyang ascended from a good striker, to a forward viewed as one of the world’s very best.
    Read More Chelsea Stories
When the Gabonese ace joined Dortmund in 2013 he was initially managed by Jurgen Klopp.
At first playing second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski, Aubameyang netted 16 goals in all competitions during his first season in Germany.

After Lewandowski’s exit, Aubameyang managed 25 in 46 games in all competitions during Klopp’s final year… but would fully explode after Tuchel’s arrival.
In the 2015-16 campaign he scored an astonishing 39 goals in 49 appearances, also laying on 12 assists.

While things got even better the following year.
The 2016-17 season brought with it 40 goals in 46 appearances for Aubameyang, including 31 in 32 Bundesliga outings.
Tuchel then departed for Paris Saint-Germain, but his two years with Auba yielded 79 goals in 95 appearances in total.
After six more months that provided a further 21 goals in 24 games, Aubameyang moved to Arsenal in January 2018 as a player more familiar to English football fans.
It’s tended to be the Gunners that have gone for Chelsea’s over-the-hill stars in recent years, rather than the other way around, with the North Londoners having signed Petr Cech, Willian and David Luiz from the Blues.
But perhaps Chelsea could have some joy by reversing the trick, given Tuchel’s Midas touch with the forward.
The German recently spoke of how no Chelsea player wants the vacant No9 shirt, given the apparent “curse” it holds.
But Aubameyang is unlikely to give two hoots about any supposed witchcraft, and could be the man to score the goals you’d expect from a player donning the No9.
He might have been frozen out by Mikel Arteta, but Aubameyang did show that he’s still got it by scoring 13 goals in 23 games for Barcelona during the second half of last season.

November 5 would be the date to look out for, should the deal happen – when Arsenal visit Stamford Bridge.
The prospect of Aubameyang playing against Arteta and Co would surely produce ample fireworks on Bonfire Night.

Manchester United have been pushing to sign him since the transfer window opened in June.
However, despite already having reached a £72million agreement with the Catalan giants, The Red Devils are slowly losing hope of bringing him to Old Trafford.
De Jong has made it clear that he does not want to join United and would prefer to stay in Spain.
But, Barcelona officials are trying to force him out of the club, insisting he must slash his wage demands or leave.

The club already owe De Jong around £17m in unpaid wages, but chiefs believe that negotiating a move away would resolve any financial differences.
And while a move to Manchester is now looking more and more unlikely, Chelsea have emerged as potential suitors.
The Blues are said to be close to striking a £67.6m deal with Barcelona for the midfielder.
An agreement would likely suit all parties, with De Jong understood to be willing to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
