      According to the Mail, they will test Villa’s resolve over Luiz with a £20million offer before Thursday’s deadline.
      Luiz has just one year left on his contract with The Villans.
      The temptation of playing European football may also be too much for him to turn down.

      The 24-year-old has started just one game this season under Steven Gerrard.
      In two substitute appearances so far he has played just 25 minutes in defeats to Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

      It now looks as if the emerging England star will be staying put – for now at least.
      Everton boss Frank Lampard insisted he wanted to keep Gordon despite his club’s financial woes.
      The bidding had been creeping up week by week in the hope of forcing a sale.
      Lampard even admitted that every player has his price regardless of his importance to the team.

      At one stage it was believed Chelsea would be ready to pay up to £60m to help boost their front line.
      But now Chelsea head coach Tuchel has admitted defeat in his hunt for the England Under 21 player who scored in Everton’s draw at Leeds last night.

      CHELSEA are pushing to sign Rafael Leao and Arsen Zakharyan before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, according to reports.The Blues have already introduced a number of new additions this summer including Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella and most recently Wesley Fofana, who joined in a £70million move earlier today.

      However, following the club’s 2-1 defeat to Southampton on Tuesday Thomas Tuchel is eager to recruit some new faces before the 11pm transfer curfew.
      According to The Times, Chelsea are in talks to sign AC Milan winger Leao AND Dinamo Moscow midfielder Zakharyan.
      Tuchel wants to add a forward and a midfielder to his ranks within the next 24 hours.
      Zakharyan, 19, is available for just £12.6m so Blues chief Todd Boehly should have no problem with splashing the cash to trigger his release clause.

      However, Leao, 23, is currently valued at £126m which puts Chelsea in a difficult position in terms of negotiations with other deals still in the pipeline.
      The Blues are also in talks with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig over the potential transfer of Josko Gvardiol.

      The centre-back could set Chelsea back £77m if a deal were to be completed.
      Tuchel is eager to strengthen his defensive set-up after the lacklustre display against Southampton.

      But in the end Tuchel, and James, finally got their man.
      Fofana was officially announced as a Chelsea player today after being sent to New York for his medical.
      And he revealed Blues fan favourite James slid into his Instagram DM’s a month ago, asking him to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

      Fofana told the club’s YouTube channel: “I speak with Reece [James] on Instagram. I speak with Edouard Mendy on Instagram and also [Marc] Cucurella. Every player, not just one.
      “Reece James texted me a message on Instagram one month ago.
      “[He said:] ‘You come and play with me at right-back?’ I love this, it’s good for my confidence. He’s my guy now.”
      It appears as though there is a budding bromance between the two young stars.

      James was spotted at the weekend with a heart shaved into his hair – the same shape Fofana has shaved into his own barnet.

      Fofana put pen-to-paper on a seven-year deal and has taken Chelsea’s spending this summer past the £250m mark.
      The centre-back could make his debut on Saturday when the Blues host West Ham.

      They lost 2-1 at Southampton on Tuesday to slump to eighth in the Premier League.
      And Lisbon sports daily A Bola claims the German has targeted 30-year-old Taremi.
      Under contract until 2024, the frontman is valued at £22million.

      The Iran ace is likely to face England at the World Cup finals in November. 
      He has 58 caps and 27 goals for his country.
      All told Taremi has an impressive 53 goals from 101 Porto appearances.

      BABA RAHMAN has joined Reading on a season-long loan from Chelsea.The Ghanaian left-back, 28, has returned to the Madejski Stadium following his successful 2021-22 campaign with the Royals.

      Ironically, that’s six more appearances than he’s made for Chelsea during his seven-year stint at Stamford Bridge.
      The move marks his SEVENTH loan spell since joining the Blues in 2015 from FC Augsburg in Germany.
      Many fans didn’t even realise that Chelsea is still Rahman’s parent club.
      Some took to Twitter to react to the news, with one writing: “How many years at all did Baba Rahman sign at Chelsea? He’s been there for ages!”

      Another added: “Baba Rahman has been at Chelsea Football Club since 2015. He played a grand total of 23 games for the club, 4 as a substitute, and somehow managed to still be on the books until 2024. This is crazy!”

      American businessman Boehly has not been afraid to get his chequebook out while acting as transfer chief following the departure of Marina Granovskaia.
      A spree of over £230m has seen the Blues sign Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina and Cucurella.
      Boehly is also trying to wrap up a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
      And despite being new to the world of football, Barber described Boehly as a no-nonsense, but “respectful” negotiator.

      On the Cucurella deal, Barber told talkSPORT: “Todd was very respectful, tough. This wasn’t an easy negotiation it went over quite a period of time.
      “I certainly didn’t get any impression that this was something they’d do at any cost. It was something that they were prepared to do but Todd negotiated very hard.”
      He added: “Todd’s a very successful individual who clearly has done very well in other business and clearly has done well in other businesses through lots of negotiations.
      “So although this was potentially a new area for him, and dealing with football players in the Premier League [was] completely new obviously, he was very tough.

      “And he certainly did not make it easy for us to get the deal done, and I respect him for that.”
      Fans though joked that Barber only praised Boehly because the American forked out a whopping £62m for Cucurella – Brighton’s record sale – and claimed the American has been paying over the odds all summer.

      Another quipped: “Barber taking the mick out of him. Wants to respect him so he can pay him similarly over the odds next time.”
