Chelsea ‘set to launch improved Aubameyang transfer bid worth £17m as they enter advanced talks with Barcelona’

CHELSEA are set to launch an improved bid to land Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with only days left of the window, according to reports. The Blues are running out of time to bring in a striker as they hunt for replacements for Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.

Aubameyang is believed to be the number one target up front but negotiations between the clubs have stalled.
But Mundo Deportivo report Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is leading the charge to “revive” the deal.
The report says Chelsea are prepared to up their initial bid to £17m to land the 33-year-old.
But journalist Nicolo Schira reports Chelsea could be willing to go as high as £21m.

Even if Barcelona do agree the fee, the London club could still face issues over personal terms.
Reports suggest that they only want to give the Gabonese international a one-year deal – but Aubameyang wants at least two.
Tuchel managed the forward while they were both at Dortmund and is believed to be keen on the prospect of bringing him back to England.
It would be a dramatic return for the striker who left Arsenal at the beginning of this year after falling out with Mikel Arteta.

But his turbulent transfer from the Emirates did not affect his form as he hit 11 goals in 17 LaLiga games to fire Barcelona into the top four.
His goalscoring form was also impressive at Arsenal.
In consecutive seasons he managed to hit 22 Premier League goals.

Away from his move, Aubameyang has been dealing with a shocking break-in at his house by four armed men.
The player was threatened with firearms and iron bars, and was also beaten, according to police sources reported by El Pais.
The thieves also intimidated Aubameyang’s wife, Alysha Behague, with weapons until they managed to get the safe open. More

Kante has only a year remaining on his deal and recent comments by his boss Thomas Tuchel suggests his long-term future at Stamford Bridge is far from secure.
The Times reports that PSG have renewed their interest in the Frenchman, having previously wanted him in 2018.
But on that occasion he opted to sign a five-year deal at Chelsea to extend his stay at the club.
With his deal running down, Kante could theoretically begin speaking to clubs abroad in January in a bid to make a free move next summer.

The situation is urgent for Chelsea who have long regarded the 31-year-old as one of the jewels in the crown at the club.
Tuchel once hailed him as the Blues’ equivalent to Kylian Mbappe at PSG or Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, and is believed to be keen on his contract being extended.
But his fitness issues have limited his availability, with Kante missing the game against his former club Leicester on Saturday.
It is the 40th match he has missed for Chelsea since the beginning of 2020.

Tuchel has acknowledged the issues recently as well.
He said: “You cannot [disregard Kanté’s injury record].
“You have to consider everything that is on the table, and on the table is his potential, on the table is his influence, and his quality.
“But on the table of course is his age, his salary and his injury rate, of course. Of course. From there you build a whole picture and try to find a solution.”
PSG have been busy rearranging their midfield this window, with talents such as Ander Herrera and Georginio Wijnaldum moving out on loan.
There is also much speculation that Idrissa Gueye could make a return to Everton.
Meanwhile Chelsea are also likely to be busy in the final days of the window, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Frenkie de Jong and Anthony Gordon still on their radar. More

And, while Bakayoko has no future at Chelsea, he may be given a second chance in the Premier League.
According to Calcio Mercato, both Forest and Newcastle want to sign him, while Serie A side AC Monza are also interested.
Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara want to offload the midfielder in order to lighten their wage bill with the Frenchman – who Chelsea paid £40million for in 2017 – not playing a single minute yet this season.
Newcastle are looking for an addition to their midfield, after missing out on Lucas Paqueta with the Brazilian set to join West Ham in a deal worth around £51m.

Forest meanwhile, continue to create disbelief as they plunder the transfer market for players – with 18 coming through the door at the City Ground so far.
Earlier on Monday Forest announced Renan Lodi from Atletico Madrid as their 18th signing of the summer.

‘A situation we don’t like’ – Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel angry and frustrated over his midfield crisis

THOMAS TUCHEL has revealed his anger and frustration that Chelsea find themselves in a midfield crisis. The Blues visit Southampton tomorrow short of options as Conor Gallagher is suspended after a red card against Leicester on Saturday while N’Golo Kante is still out with a thigh injury.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is frustrated with the lack of midfield optionsCredit: Getty
Tuchel is left with midfielders Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic – who has only just returned after a knee problem – and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who has been playing at wing-back.
The German coach said: “Midfield is normally the area I would love to have a headache about who plays and who is on the bench.
“This is the area where I thought we would have five players that could all play for us and also have Carney [Chukwuemeka] on top as an option as a young player.
“The headache before the season was whether we had too many players there but it comes to the fifth game and maybe we only have two left with experience in this position and Kova from the bench because he is not ready to play full matches at Premier League level as he only had a week after training after his injury.

“It’s a strange situation and a situation we don’t like. I don’t know why we are in this situation, actually. It’s like this and our team selection is something to think about. Or maybe not because it’s so obvious who we have left.”
Chelsea still hope to be busy in the transfer market over the next few days but Tuchel, whose side beat Leicester 2-1 on Saturday, will be glad when the transfer window shuts.

He said: “Right now, I think we could need some more players in some positions, but it’s very close to the end of the transfer window and when September 1 comes, I will be a happy coach no matter what happens.
“From September 1, there are no more excuses and no more distractions. I am very, very happy when the transfer window is over because then we have different leverage to push players and then the commitment has to be 100 per cent, we will not accept 99 per cent.

“The reality is that sometimes, in the last days of the window, you have to simply accept it no matter what you wish for.
“I will try to find solutions and not think about what might have happened or what could be. Everything that matters is reality and at the moment what mattered was finding a way to win against Leicester.
“What will matter at Southampton is the same, find a way to win, step up individually and push the team from my side. This is what we will do no matter if players will come or not.”
Tuchel claims he is expecting a tough match at St Mary’s with Saints losing 1-0 at home to Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime.
The Blues boss revealed: “I had the chance to watch the game of Southampton live and saw a very strong side. They had a huge turnaround at Leicester to win the game and you could see they gained a lot of confidence from it.
“They conceded but they had a lot of touches in the box, a lot of shots against Manchester United and were very mobile upfront.
“What you can always expect in Southampton is a physical game, a running game, a high-intensity game. This is what it is. We need to recover well and be well prepared to repeat what we did last season.”
Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly will return from suspension against Southampton after his red card against Leeds.

Tuchel, who will also return to the touchline after a one-match ban, added: “He’s a fantastic player and fantastic personality. I am so happy with what I see. Not only that we convinced him to come to the club but how he behaves and trains.
“I see a lot of quality and everything that is needed to be a leading figure at Chelsea. He will be on the pitch at Southampton, he is a massive player for us and there’s no doubt about it.” More

“The midfielder, who joined from boyhood club Everton in January 2018, made 100 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, scoring 12 goals.

“At the end of that campaign he helped us win the Europa League, scoring a spot-kick in the shoot-out victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the semis and then coming off the bench in the brilliant Baku triumph against Arsenal.

The German lost his appeal to a red card he received for an altercation he had with Tottenham boss Antonio Conte following a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

However, it is unclear whether the £70million-plus Frenchman, 21, will be registered in time to face the Saints.

Anthony Gordon told to reject Chelsea transfer by Frank Lampard as he’s only been Everton regular for a year

It will take a bid of £70million-plus for Everton to even consider selling the 21-year-old.
But Lampard, who made his own big money move as a player when he left schoolboy club West Ham for Chelsea in 2002, suggested Gordon owes the Goodison side a debt of loyalty at this stage of his career.
Lampard, who insisted Gordon is “in the squad, for sure” for Tuesday’s game at Leeds, said: “Anthony wouldn’t, couldn’t and shouldn’t do react badly and have his head turned with me.
“I think he knows that and there’s no doubt about it.

“And I’m not playing the hard one. It’s just that it would be so alien to what I would expect of him. I just know that’s not him.
“At the same time, he’s not robot and you know all this attention is difficult.

“I understand – I was that ambitious, hardworking young player and that’s the beauty of Anthony – he’s hard working and wants to be better.
“He wants to do what he did at Brentford, which is score goals, work for this team and that’s why he’s a delight to work with.

“There was never any idea that he’d react in any other way.
“That was my approach when it happened to me.
“But I played three and a half, maybe four seasons for West Ham. So there’s my answer to Anthony – he’s only played one for us.”
Lampard added: “Anthony’s character is great.
“He’s a huge player for us, it’s as simple as that. We are getting to the end of the window now but Anthony is a huge player for us and will be this season.” More

But now after appearing on the bench for the second time this season De Jong appears to be set to seal a transfer to the Premier League.
De Jong, 25, was pictured at an airport where a plane was scheduled to take off to fly to London.
It has previously been reported Chelsea struck an agreement with Barcelona over a transfer fee of around £63million.
New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has already splashed a massive amount of cash on improving Thomas Tuchel’s squad, with over £180m already spent.

Deals for Leicester’s Wesley Fofana and Everton’s Anthony Gordon are also in the works, with the former flying to the US to complete a medical ahead of a move which could reach a world record fee for a defender.
United also reportedly struck an agreement but their efforts to ensure De Jong reunited with Erik ten Hag have thus far proved fruitless.

However, despite the transfer interest of these clubs De Jong’s movements are reportedly not transfer related.
Samuel Marsden has reported the Barcelona squad were given a few days off following their 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid.

He maintains the most likely scenario regarding De Jong’s future is him staying at Barcelona, with no change to his salary conditions.
Further reports have suggested De Jong’s reason for travel is the wedding of International team-mate and current Man United star Donny van de Beek, who gave him an invitation. More
